Trek Geeks #50: Relics

THAT’S NO MOON

TNG: Relics…it’s a Dyson Sphere!  This week, the Trek Geeks take on an episode considered beloved by Star Trek fans all over the globe–“Relics,” from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The Starship Enterprise discovers a Federation ship that crashed on a Dyson sphere more than seventy-five years ago. On board, there’s a single survivor suspended in the transporter buffer–none other than Captain Montgomery Scott.

Scotty became the third series regular from The Original Series to cross paths with the Next Generation crew and it was a welcome sight when this episode debuted in 1992.

Since that time, the Trek Geeks have taken a more critical view of this story. They’ll talk about the things they liked, but they’ll also examine the areas where they feel this episode did a disservice to the character of Montgomery Scott.

It’s a potentially unpopular view on an incredibly popular story in this, the 50th episode of Trek Geeks!
