[00:01:51] My name is Dan Davidson and we are Discovering Trek Lower Decks.
[00:02:10] Thank you so much for joining us and welcome to Discovering Trek, the Star Trek Universe
[00:02:14] companion presented by fansets. The season 3 finale of Star Trek Lower Decks did not pull
[00:02:19] any punches. Freeman stands up for a crew and her mission in front of the very highest
[00:02:24] of Starfleet command. A contest against a seemingly invincible opponent and some unbelievable
[00:02:30] answers to Rutherford's past gave us an incredible final episode of the season. But before we
[00:02:37] get into too much detail about this finale, I have to introduce my two amazing co-hosts.
[00:02:42] It has been a fantastic season of Lower Decks and because of these two gents, it's been
[00:02:46] an amazing season of Discovering Trek. As always, help me break down this week's episode
[00:02:51] of my friends Bill Smith and Casey Shasky. Casey as always good to see you buddy and wow,
[00:02:56] just some pretty amazing things took place in this finale. And we got a lot to talk about.
[00:03:02] Be sure to do my friend. This was an awesome, once again another awesome season valley. Lower
[00:03:09] Decks absolutely knows what they're doing and you know, satisfies once again. Absolutely.
[00:03:15] And Bill not a cliffhanger per se but I'm going to say it right now. Folks are going
[00:03:21] to want to stick around through the credits on this one because something very important
[00:03:25] does take place. Thanks so much for ever having me back buddy. So for the first time in
[00:03:31] Star Trek history, we get a post credits scene. This is pretty epic and I'm sorry the coolest
[00:03:37] starship name you were such a kiss ass. I don't care. It's awesome. I'm so excited. You know what?
[00:03:43] Brown knows it but that's the one as you want to kiss isn't it? So it's the USS San Jose,
[00:03:48] right? I was going to say the USS Englewood. That's it. Yeah, okay. Well, yeah, that's
[00:03:54] Englewood. No, where you at? We'll get to that name in just a moment. Black alert. Black alert.
[00:04:02] This episode of Discovering Trek Lower Decks as always contains spoilers. So if you haven't
[00:04:07] watched Star Trek Lower Decks episode 10 the season finale stop listening right now head
[00:04:13] on over to Paramount Plus and watch the episode then head back over to us with Discovering Trek.
[00:04:17] Failure to do that put you at risk to find out plot developments and character details for
[00:04:22] the star at night. Our big and bright deep in the heart of Texas. Thank you. Thank you. You're
[00:04:31] late with a heart. Sorry. Well, I think we're going to have a fun discussion guys as our listeners
[00:04:37] can surely tell we have not had anything to drink. At least that's what I'm saying. It was a great
[00:04:43] it was a great season and let's get our thumbs up thumbs down. I kind of have an idea what
[00:04:47] we're all going to vote on. Bill, what did you think about this finale buddy? Two thumbs way up.
[00:04:51] I said this last year and I'll say it again this year Mike McMahon can write the hell out of a
[00:04:56] season finale. He's three for three each time it's been a grand slam home run and this episode is
[00:05:03] no exception. Absolutely. And Casey, are you on the same page with your friend Bill there? Oh
[00:05:08] absolutely. Mike McMahon Pablo Sandoval this whole thing in the World Series. Home run, home run,
[00:05:15] three for three. Dude knows what he's doing. He is fantastic. It's great to have a showrunner who
[00:05:21] loves Star Trek as much as he does who writes fantastic episodes of Lower Decks like he does. And
[00:05:27] like you said, I also gave it a thumbs up two thumbs up six thumbs up doesn't matter how many
[00:05:31] thumbs they're all up. He did a fantastic job as did the entire animation cast the writers the voice
[00:05:37] actors. It was all perfect. Dare I say the best finale of the three seasons we've seen so far on
[00:05:43] Lower Decks. I'm going to go that far also I'll agree with that. Okay cool. So let's get right
[00:05:47] into it guys. I'll get it off my chest now you always guys would give me crap a few minutes ago
[00:05:52] but I'll tell you when the Starship van sitter swung into screen and to save the day
[00:05:59] I was ecstatic because as we on the we know John we love giving John a hard time he's a great guy
[00:06:05] but he is now official Star Trek Canon and that's going to be pretty awesome and I would love to talk
[00:06:10] to him and find out what it was like for him when he either read or saw for the first time
[00:06:16] that a Starship was going to be named after him and a Starship that swoops in and saves the day.
[00:06:21] Well we should probably level set for some viewers who have no idea who were talk listeners
[00:06:25] who have no idea who we're talking about yes we're talking about vice president you know of
[00:06:31] I guess it's now Paramount who deals with the Star Trek brand John van sitter's who has worked
[00:06:37] for Star Trek for a long time who was a massive fan of Star Trek and always has been
[00:06:41] he's the person who has a Starship named after him this week and of course it's a sovereign class
[00:06:46] yes it's absolutely beautiful and and it just fits the name fits for a Starship and you got to
[00:06:52] I gotta say here in Shaxx call it out that's when I was like oh I think I squealed I really think
[00:06:58] I squealed I was so excited that was very very happy not only for Star Trek fans but for John I can
[00:07:02] I can only imagine what what he was thinking when he saw that it was pretty cool you might
[00:07:07] want to wipe your nose off no sorry I don't mind it John knows what I'm like we'll just get him
[00:07:10] some maple syrup and he'll be fine from yeah it's fun he was probably thinking gosh I wonder what
[00:07:15] Dan thinks that I'm thinking about this I know that's what I was thinking yeah well you know
[00:07:20] well you know that's what happens when you're the host of discovering Trek something you know anyway
[00:07:26] so that was one thing I loved one thing I did not like but it actually works with the episode
[00:07:30] and we'll get into it in more detail is yet guys another badmerell how many times have we
[00:07:37] seen badmerels in Star Trek KFC and here we go admerell winemigo what do you got to add on him but
[00:07:43] his name is less winemigo literally less than a good friend so if this wasn't a giveaway from 0.0
[00:07:52] you know his like come on now let's be bilingual and it was like yeah a little bum that was
[00:08:00] another badadderall but I kind of like that he just totally was hey this is who I am you know
[00:08:09] this I'm not shy about it he wasn't shy about a puppy he was nuts the way that he when he finally
[00:08:17] decided to just spill the beans talking about everything was like wow this guy got this far
[00:08:23] up in the chain and he is this much off of his rocker I was really surprised but in a good way
[00:08:29] well here's the thing it's not that he's off his rocker I just I think that power corrupts
[00:08:33] an absolute power corrupts absolutely I think that this badmerell trope is done equally as effectively
[00:08:39] as terio quince character in the pagassus in Star Trek the next generation nice call back you know
[00:08:43] at the very beginning you don't believe he's necessarily evil but he's created something that
[00:08:49] doesn't fit well with star food starfleet and clearly doesn't care about the possible ramifications
[00:08:55] it's not until later that you realize oh yeah this dude is not just bad news he's he's the worst
[00:09:01] news and I think he kind of mirrors Eric Pressman in that sense um ultimately I think that lower
[00:09:06] decks really does a great job with the badmerell trope probably better than a lot of the other shows
[00:09:11] that's a good point very good point and and he's bad I mean he he doesn't care about you know
[00:09:15] what he did to rutherford which was a great a great revelation and I said it a few weeks ago
[00:09:21] I said guys I'm really hoping that whoever is behind all this because you you only saw him in
[00:09:26] the shadows I'm like I really hope it's a big name it wasn't a big big name but it was a big
[00:09:31] name for this season so I was kind of happy about how we saw that revelation about who it was
[00:09:37] who did the things to rutherford that he did I'm glad they relied a little bit on lower decks
[00:09:42] cannon yes didn't make it necessarily like Sloan you know reanimated from section 31 or or
[00:09:50] jellico or or somebody I'm glad that they kept it within their own the confines of their own
[00:09:56] series because I think it made it much more interesting I agree with that Kasey one of the things we
[00:10:02] actually talked about it last week when we got just a little bit of a hint of the Texas class
[00:10:06] starship um we were all talking like um who thinks that this is a good idea fully automated this
[00:10:14] it's not gonna go well and you would think that a badmoral or an admiral who has climbed the
[00:10:18] ladder and even admits there's nowhere else to go for him he's at the highest he can be at
[00:10:24] would kind of have an idea of what's happened in the past with all of this uh AI stuff and
[00:10:30] for some reason he thinks he's the one that's gonna answer all the questions and set everything right
[00:10:36] ego and hubris you know the people who think oh well the people before me did this wrong
[00:10:43] but I'll do it better or I will do it where everything will be just fine I mean we've met these
[00:10:49] narcissistic a holes and then you're like going oh oh oh really so they don't learn anything from
[00:10:56] what's happened in the past they just it it's kind of like brushing it all under the rug and going
[00:11:02] oh well no I'm not gonna to listen to any of that and take that into account of what I might
[00:11:08] want to do it's like I know better than everything else and I know better than actual actions and events
[00:11:15] that have happened so then that's when you know their nuts right Abil you were you were enthusiastically
[00:11:21] nodding your head when Casey was talking about this hey spot on I can't say any better he he
[00:11:26] hated perfectly yeah uh we've talked about the AI aspect and and what when Amigo was was talking
[00:11:33] about we've talked a little bit about the whole rutherford thing I thought that was a very important
[00:11:39] part of rutherford's character we've we talked about with the episode where he was kind of fighting
[00:11:45] himself with the with the the spaceship race about you know which which is better the the the now
[00:11:52] rutherford or the real rutherford that we that had this accident and had his memory wiped and
[00:11:58] everything I thought I think that this was a great way to resolve that question by him being the
[00:12:04] hero who recognizes that it's his own I don't even know what to call it code zone code code rather
[00:12:12] that is that is running these shifts and he knows it's going to be a problem based on what he
[00:12:16] knows with what he had to deal with a few weeks back yeah I don't disagree I mean I think that
[00:12:21] rutherford had to be the person to discover that because I think it's the most effective use in
[00:12:27] the story quite frankly he didn't have a whole lot to do last week but I think that this week
[00:12:31] him kind of coming to that realization really just kind of drops a huge bomb and I think it's important
[00:12:37] yeah Casey what do you think about about the whole rutherford aspect of this season it's a nice
[00:12:43] tie you know everything ties in together so instead of there like we talked about just earlier
[00:12:50] there being somebody outside of lower dex canon that was the the person doing this we get
[00:12:57] when amigo as quote the villain and rutherford really growing this season into
[00:13:07] beyond what he was before that the accident and beyond whatever code is going on with him and in him
[00:13:17] so I think this opens up opportunities to see where he's not always that hey ho how do you do
[00:13:25] kind of person and a little more well rounded and how it's intriguing because it's like where do
[00:13:35] we go from here that's exactly what I was going to ask you guys is do you think and I'm not saying
[00:13:40] that I think this or want this to happen but it's gonna sound like I'm putting a negative tone on
[00:13:44] it and I'm not trying to do you think by the by the fact that we he now knows what happened
[00:13:49] he's got these memories of who did what what to him that we're gonna see kind of a slowdown in
[00:13:56] the building of the rutherford character or is it going to be more because he's now going to have
[00:14:00] to deal with with you know those memories and what happened and what parts of them are real
[00:14:07] and what parts of them are coded in with his implants do you think that that's an opportunity for growth
[00:14:12] going forward if you think we're gonna see kind of a stagnation of his character for a little while
[00:14:16] I don't think this series does stagnation that's a good problem and I think they've proven that
[00:14:20] with every episode in each season everything is an opportunity for rutherford to grow it's just
[00:14:26] a question of how he decides to learn from it even at the end of this episode he kind of you know
[00:14:31] you think he's gonna go dark and you think he's gonna go dark and then he snaps out of it and we're
[00:14:34] back to rutherford again yeah because I mean it's who he is at his core you know I there's it may
[00:14:41] answer the question is does this AI enhance who he's always been was he that other rutherford and
[00:14:47] we use that for you know one of it or red rutherford as we referred to it earlier in the season
[00:14:52] is was he that because of the pressure and the work put it put on him by Admiral Bono Mico
[00:14:59] and we don't know so I think that I think rutherford will always be rutherford because I think
[00:15:04] that that's just a core to the character and it's important to the series yeah I agree Kasey
[00:15:10] you're same same same idea I think it's a perfect opportunity for him to really expand as a character
[00:15:17] but I also think he's gonna have some inner demons that he's gonna be dealing with well then that
[00:15:21] that's growth because don't we all have inner demons that we deal with it's not all did you know
[00:15:26] sunshine and rainbows it's the days that are crap that you struggle through and you work it through
[00:15:32] to then really appreciate the other days that are you know fantastic and that's what we want to see
[00:15:41] for these characters to be more more human or a more more alive when they're animated
[00:15:47] I think if he starts going around saying I will burn your heart to the fire we're gonna have some
[00:15:51] problems yeah like that that's every barbecue at dance house speaking of fires guys I gotta say I
[00:15:59] think this is the first time that we've seen such massive death in lower decks I mean those
[00:16:06] explosions were taken out crew members on the space station and they were going up in flames and
[00:16:11] and that that station took a lot of damage and there were a lot of people on it I gotta admit even
[00:16:16] for an animated show with what we've come to to to respect and love about lower decks it's a
[00:16:21] little unsettling for those scenes yeah actually coming from a starship a starfleet vessel at the end
[00:16:29] of the day this this is Star Trek and yeah you know there is a very real danger when you get all
[00:16:35] that coupled with music that really kind of evokes the James Horner scores from some of the films
[00:16:41] it paints a very very dark picture and I think that they dealt with it as as only lower decks could
[00:16:47] I thought they handled it really well yeah yeah on on that I think we as viewers have become a little bit
[00:16:55] um used to not thinking space is dangerous it's like you know a tiny little hole in that ship could
[00:17:02] kill everyone and you're you're you are however thick the hole is in the secondary hole that's all
[00:17:10] that's protecting you from death yeah so to to get some of that and see yeah the stakes are very high
[00:17:18] there are consequences there are gonna be things that stick and are wonderful or they're gonna hurt
[00:17:26] and we have to remember that you know inevitably it's a dangerous mission no matter what the mission
[00:17:33] is just so you survive you don't hit asteroids you don't hit this you don't hit that whatever planets
[00:17:38] have satellites going around you you know you have to negotiate all that and there has to be some
[00:17:45] depth and and drama to all this right oh we definitely saw it um so we already talked about
[00:17:52] the Starship Vancitors which was wonderful but I gotta say seeing the entire California class
[00:17:59] the entire fleet of starships warp in from everywhere and then just having names just
[00:18:04] read off one after another somebody lives in California case you must have loved that seed
[00:18:09] as as a norcal boy it was like bring it just keep bringing it and you know so-cal names would
[00:18:17] become out of my go yeah okay but it was it was it was wonderful because I kept I was intrigued
[00:18:24] to see what places would be used as names for all this and it was like yeah hey
[00:18:33] were there any that you were like oh come on well yeah I'll tell you offline was like really
[00:18:41] somebody listen from yeah the USS Vancitors
[00:18:45] yeah I was like Eagle Mosses in a room real really a wonderful model
[00:18:50] I think it's a it's a wonderful defense of the California class ships is second contact
[00:18:56] vessels plus I mean you see all those ships warping in from everywhere and it was a viewer it kind
[00:19:04] of makes you go yeah that's exactly what I want to see because they're gonna get this done
[00:19:09] you know what do they do they get it done they're not just second class vessels they're starfleet
[00:19:14] vessels that's right and they come to rescue the Cerritos in grand fashion is only they good
[00:19:20] you know it's it's with modern trek that we've been able to see these amazing scenes like a
[00:19:25] season one of discovery comes to mind when all the ships warp in at the at the at the neutral zone
[00:19:30] and then the Klingon ships warp in and we saw it in Picard and it really was amazing but to see
[00:19:36] all of these in animated form all the same class of Starship warp in to save their sister ship
[00:19:43] really shows what the heart of the California class Starship cruise is all about Casey and I
[00:19:49] thought it was a great moment well absolutely have we learned earlier in the season you know the
[00:19:54] Cerritos has a reputation and it's a good reputation with the other California class ships so you know
[00:20:01] it's the whole we may fight amongst ourselves but once there's an outside threat we all we all
[00:20:09] turn back to back to kick that outside threats but and this is what they do and like you said
[00:20:16] they they come through and once again like all right Cali class is not taking any cred
[00:20:22] yeah the seeds for this have been planted all season long you know in the way that Cerritos is seen
[00:20:27] not just by the other Cali class ships but by people in general and for the other Cali
[00:20:33] class ships to come to their defense and their rescue is really just such a fantastic moment
[00:20:38] yeah it really is and the fact on this it's Miranor who does this Miranor Miranor
[00:20:47] is right has her Indiana Jones moment early in the episode but yes but Miranor is the one
[00:20:55] who says you know I know we may lose we may die on this but we have to I have to do something
[00:21:03] and takes the bull by the horns and saves the day she finally realizes what her mission is whether like
[00:21:12] she you know she she's in Starfleet she get out of it and then realize it's exactly where she
[00:21:16] needed to be and she needed that time away I think in order to understand that especially when
[00:21:21] she's faced with the crisis that was facing her former crew I can only hope that with lower decks
[00:21:26] completes its run as a series the next animated series we get is Beckett Mariner Tomb Raider
[00:21:32] because that part was super fun it was awesome it was really great good see some forangi get to see
[00:21:38] the I'm telling you I was thinking right is a lost arc with that title at the beginning absolutely
[00:21:43] it was it was great speaking of which I found it very interesting and we're not going to talk a lot
[00:21:49] about a petra because I think we all can agree that's I don't think any of us really love the
[00:21:55] character I found it extremely interesting that Picard funded her and for her mission and her
[00:22:01] shipping everything I thought that was interesting how in the hell does Picard fund anything when
[00:22:09] there's no money Latinum well does he sell the wine oh that's true yeah does he just give
[00:22:21] that away he probably just gives it away well this Joseph Cisco charge for meals at Cisco's and
[00:22:26] I would certainly hope so probably not though because there's no money in the future that holds
[00:22:33] no money thing I know we're not even going to get into that yeah I see where you're going I say
[00:22:38] what you're saying but yeah I found out was kind of kind of like huh that's interesting I was
[00:22:43] glad to find out that petra wasn't as slimy as Vosh but I still don't like petra just because she
[00:22:49] rubs me the wrong way I think that the the the the voice actor did a fantastic job created a
[00:22:54] character that I just didn't necessarily like and honestly I don't think we're supposed to like her
[00:22:58] I think because she was just kind of temporary it gave Mariner something to do
[00:23:04] that was still very interesting and I appreciated that I find it interesting that you talked
[00:23:08] about Vosh because one of the things I was thinking about with her is like isn't it interesting that
[00:23:12] petra is just like Vosh and that she's kind of a you know kind of you know swindler and and
[00:23:17] you know not really completely honest then they're kind of putting that that mold into both female
[00:23:23] characters that were quote archaeologists but really Tomb Raiders but not as slimy as Vosh so
[00:23:31] win-win. Exactly I mean taking stuff back to the museums and it's like okay you know
[00:23:38] we've got stuff going on right now with all the museums around the world would be like hey
[00:23:42] maybe some of these relics should go back to where they originated from not where when they

[00:26:25] podcast network so guys Bill you know I love to do impersonations I just eat whether they're good or bad
[00:26:32] I still like that. They're usually bad yeah that's true except Serena Jones which I won't do here
[00:26:38] because I don't want Arnold because I don't want his ears to bleed. Boimler doing an impersonation of
[00:26:43] Shaxx was just fantastic and it was a good impersonation and he's behind me isn't he that's all I could
[00:26:50] think of and you know there's gonna be the case right yeah yeah I mean it's a little predictable
[00:26:56] but it worked it was funny and it allowed us later on in the episode who has why I even brought
[00:27:02] this up that we get to see what we've been hearing about and seeing a little bit about all season long
[00:27:09] the the the boiler that takes charge and is not gonna just you know sit back he is I forget
[00:27:16] what they call him at the beginning of the season he had a nickname of bold boiler bold boiler
[00:27:22] he was bold when he told everybody on the bridge to shut up and listen to Shaxx and give him
[00:27:27] the props that he needed I thought that was a fantastic moment and I'm a huge Shaxx fan I'm glad
[00:27:33] they brought him back from being killed in season one and I thought this was his his big moment
[00:27:38] in the series so far. I don't disagree with that one bit I mean it was it was a little over
[00:27:44] the top for Boimler to have to scream like that on the bridge yeah but I mean Boimler screams I get
[00:27:50] it but it was it was the right thing to do and Shaxx's victory lap after that was like yeah
[00:27:57] because that's something Wurf never got in seven seasons at TNG he was always told no
[00:28:02] yeah yeah don't fire at the view screen dummy bad idea Wurf another bad idea oh once again
[00:28:09] another bad idea yeah yeah I remember I remember in season just going back for a second
[00:28:17] talking about season one I remember how I was devastated when Shaxx died at the end of season one's
[00:28:21] finale I really was was upset I mean I know that we're in television the age now where anybody can
[00:28:27] die the captain Freeman could have gotten killed and in the finale anybody who could die Beckett
[00:28:31] could have Boimler could have it just could have been anybody but to have Shaxx was really disappointment
[00:28:36] and then the way they brought him back I was kind of questioning a little bit I didn't know
[00:28:40] what was going to work but it did and he's had some real growth all season long his relationship with
[00:28:45] the doctor and then we got to see him him save the day with his idea he's always wanted to eject
[00:28:51] that warp core and now he finally gets to do it and it saves everybody I thought it was just brilliant
[00:28:57] these are very passionate character is not an angry character very passionate everyone everything
[00:29:03] that he does shows you that you know the crazy bunny inclined who huh let's get it on for play
[00:29:12] it's like okay but going down the hallway you know crying and you're seeing that it's like yeah
[00:29:20] this this this dude really really cares about things and lovely to see that thank the profits
[00:29:32] I got one more thing before my final comment and that was we talked about it last week a little bit
[00:29:38] when we saw a Mariner resigned from starfleet and go to starbase 80 or after she went to starbase
[00:29:44] 80 I should say by the way it was kind of cool to see Dr. Fox's bats flying around in starbase 80
[00:29:49] and put that out there was a nice little call back to enterprise but I will say
[00:29:55] I said it last week who really thought she was gonna be gone long I mean no but it makes sense
[00:30:02] to have her come back as quickly as she did but also to kind of be the the heroin of the episode if
[00:30:07] that was kind of cool and it was good to see her back and and the reaction that everybody gave when
[00:30:11] they realized that they all effed up and it had nothing to do with what she said she said that she
[00:30:16] loved everything about what went on in the ship and it was a perfect ship to sirbond I think you
[00:30:22] covered it all I mean I don't think I don't think anybody believe that Mariner was gonna be gone
[00:30:26] into next season they just didn't make sense um and she had to come in and save the day because
[00:30:30] she's back at Mariner that's what she does yeah almost every time so yeah and as always
[00:30:37] honey just just such a phenomenal job as does everybody in the cast but uh she really she really
[00:30:42] hit a grand slam this week but guys I want to the last thing I want to talk about and then I'll let
[00:30:46] you guys wrap up with whatever you got is gotta talk about that after credit scene I will be 100%
[00:30:52] honest when I watch the the the screener that we got I watch it I was in the middle of doing
[00:30:56] something so what soon as it ended I shut it off and I walked away and I didn't think anything
[00:31:00] about it bill mentioned something to me or posted something on Twitter or something after the
[00:31:05] episode aired and I was like say huh there's a Marvel universe type end credit scene what are you
[00:31:10] talking about so I went and watched it and it's only like five seconds ten seconds long but oh man
[00:31:17] was that a fantastic way to end the season on kind of a cliffhanger I've got two questions
[00:31:24] would would it be amazing to see peanut hamper and agamus agamus and and badgy team up as a triple
[00:31:37] AI threat in a future season and it was the the tractor beam was green I'm thinking it was the
[00:31:47] Borg what do you think yeah I think it's the Borg I think you have those three AI is working
[00:31:58] together I think they eat each other alive I think they backstab each other to not get what their
[00:32:07] goal is because each one's going to be want to be the one in charge which then makes very cool story
[00:32:15] ideas and dramatic stuff for seasons coming up and then you include all those psycho characters
[00:32:23] yeah being assimilated by the Borg holy crap the reason I the reason I bring up bill whether or
[00:32:31] not it's the Borg I kind of thought that at first because it's green but what would the Borg be doing
[00:32:35] in a debris field where there isn't anything to assimilate per se because it's all just wreckage
[00:32:42] I don't know I mean I could be way off and thinking that's a Borg maybe we're all going to
[00:32:45] be shocked at what we see next year but but that's what I thought well they're all about technology
[00:32:51] and improving themselves maybe they detected an AI somehow in scanning the debris field maybe who
[00:32:59] knows who knows it could be the Borg I think it probably is but I mean the Romulans have green
[00:33:06] tractor beams too that's true yes so who knows who it could be of course you saw that flash of
[00:33:11] Badgie I think and I'm going to call it now I think that the season four finale involves the Borg
[00:33:18] and Badgie and Adjima and peanut hamper and a cliffhanger boom man so flag the tape
[00:33:28] we're gonna in season the season four finale when we do that probably next year at this time
[00:33:34] we're gonna come back to this and see how wrong I was that's bold and I like it one of the things
[00:33:38] I thought was really cool about that scene as quick as it was is that it was Rutherford's
[00:33:44] cybernetic piece that Shaxx ripped off his head before he before he saved him at the end of
[00:33:49] season one and I just I just love these little tiny callbacks and details that this crew who writes
[00:33:54] the show and does the show has in their mind when they're writing the stuff I just thought it was
[00:33:59] brilliant so so guys what else you got about what we had with the season finale I'm really
[00:34:03] bummed that this is the last time we get to talk about lower decks for a while but at the same
[00:34:06] time there was so much going on that we could go on forever it really does um I you'll last
[00:34:11] week I did how have we not talked about something this week how have we not talked about the interface
[00:34:20] to the Texas class starships is the M5 computer from the ultimate computer in the original series
[00:34:27] you want to talk about the mother of all callbacks you want to talk about in your face
[00:34:33] anyone seeing this should know how it's going to go this second they see that computer yeah
[00:34:37] it was it it's a great Easter egg it's a great callback but it's a great you know um
[00:34:44] shadow of what's to come uh yeah personally um I also have to say we finally get to see
[00:34:50] talent again after a year that was beautiful yes it's funny that I thought and I talked I don't
[00:34:55] know if I talked about it on the show or after the show I thought that that was tawny doing the voice
[00:35:00] of that character but it isn't uh but it is kind of cool that she's back and she's going to be on
[00:35:04] next season because everybody loved her and then I only have two other things um one when amigo is
[00:35:10] smoking didn't he see the signs on the bridge of the um the simulator for the kobi asha maru that's
[00:35:18] he knows smoking and then lastly I love a good callback we all love a good callback and this week
[00:35:26] we get a callback of the brigadune type planet from deep space nine in the episode meridian
[00:35:33] oh yeah oh planet that shows up every now and then where dachsh falls in love and plans to stay
[00:35:38] and then realize as she can't stay an episode directed by Jonathan freaks great little take on
[00:35:45] that brigadune planet type thing I loved it good callback good good details man I love it
[00:35:51] kacy what do you got man as we wrap it up I will burn your heart in a fire that say that's so well
[00:35:59] I think about that all the time with you um but wow that that's not just that's creepy
[00:36:10] beyond a certain thing that okay oh the ship is saying this is the ship feeling this and yeah
[00:36:18] and it's like oh okay they they're in deep deep trouble and you know bill yeah you bringing it up
[00:36:27] with the um five I was like oh my this this this went south really fast but here here's the thing
[00:36:37] we talked about it last week I brought up who thinks AI controlled starships is a good idea look
[00:36:44] at what the m5 did with Commodore Wesley or Commodore Stone or whoever it was I forget it was
[00:36:48] the m5 did all that damage yet he's got the m5 in his office or it was the whole interface for
[00:36:54] the for the ship I just was like wow somebody's not reading their captains logs very much here's
[00:36:58] something to think about what if the code for badgie was mingled with the code for daistrim's m5
[00:37:07] huh huh that's kind of next level mind blowing but yeah I have to believe that that's could be
[00:37:15] what happened here yeah oh get mcman on the phone we got to talk to him yeah let me do that
[00:37:23] right up for a call van citters and tell him what you think about his starship I think a starship
[00:37:28] is fantastic I know you do the world we all know wow if it's not going to be the starship
[00:37:35] Davidson it might as well be the van citters right then citters is not handing out gold stars Dan
[00:37:40] yeah no and the starship Davidson would be a garbage scale out my goodness oh at least it's something
[00:37:47] anyway thanks thankfully I talk about how great you guys every weekend that's what you can really
[00:37:52] you read you read how great we are we don't believe a word you say I don't even know if he writes it
