The One Where We Catch Up on Discovery

The One Where We Catch Up on Discovery

And after another unexpected break, we find out that we have four episodes of Discovery to catch up on! This is fine.

April is but a distant memory, and we find ourselves in May - with Memorial Day right around the corner! Unfortunately, this means that we have NOT been keeping up with recording, and before you know it we have a backlog. But not to fear! We'll get through it in less than two hours somehow.

This week, we chat about Jinaal, Face the Strange, Mirrors, and Whistlespeak (it was a challenge just to remember all these episode titles). Discovery Season 5 is definitely ending up to be one of the stronger and consistent seasons of the series - but what did we think about each of these episodes? Listen and find out!

[00:00:02] This week on Deep Sase Fried we catch up on a lot of episodes of Discovery and a little

[00:00:17] bit of news.

[00:00:18] Thanks for joining us.

[00:00:19] Happy Sunday Johnson, how are you today?

[00:00:54] I'm doing okay Mike.

[00:00:56] How are you doing in this chilly rainy Sunday?

[00:00:59] Oh, you're just doing okay.

[00:01:02] Usually you bring more energy than that.

[00:01:04] Wait, what do I say?

[00:01:06] Do I say I'm doing great?

[00:01:08] No, you never say great.

[00:01:10] You're like, you never say okay.

[00:01:12] Fine is usually yes.

[00:01:16] Your baseline is fine.

[00:01:18] Fine okay or interchangeable.

[00:01:21] I think they're pretty much the same.

[00:01:24] Fine slash okay.

[00:01:27] Fine slash okay.

[00:01:29] Why, how are you doing?

[00:01:32] I'm good.

[00:01:33] I've had a good Sunday despite the cold.

[00:01:36] I got out before the rain and picked up a few things at the store so I could make breakfast

[00:01:44] and yeah.

[00:01:45] Just been doing some stuff around the house, made some brownies because it was craving brownies.

[00:01:52] Oh.

[00:01:53] Yeah, doing house chores really.

[00:01:57] Did you get new glasses?

[00:01:59] Are these new?

[00:02:00] No, these are reading glasses.

[00:02:02] We've got a second screen over here with the episode's handy just as a reference for our

[00:02:10] discussion of four huge episodes.

[00:02:12] I know, it's been a while since we recorded unfortunately.

[00:02:17] Yeah, yeah, I mean between being off for a mandatory week and then our truck keeps

[00:02:25] taking a week off and then you were traveling.

[00:02:28] Yeah, I was traveling or something.

[00:02:30] We were traveling and then you were swamped for like two weeks.

[00:02:35] I was swamped.

[00:02:36] Yeah, yeah life has been very busy lately so it was nice to just have an easy going Sunday

[00:02:45] where I could just chill out.

[00:02:49] Yeah.

[00:02:50] Yeah.

[00:02:51] Did you do anything fun this weekend?

[00:02:55] Not a lot.

[00:02:56] I mean, I had dinner with some friends last night and wait who?

[00:02:59] What do you mean wait who?

[00:03:02] Wait no, I don't know.

[00:03:05] Friends.

[00:03:06] Anyone I know?

[00:03:07] Maybe.

[00:03:08] Maybe not.

[00:03:09] So defensive that I have other friends that I've just like curious.

[00:03:17] Curious.

[00:03:18] Well, I know.

[00:03:20] Yes.

[00:03:21] So that was about it.

[00:03:23] So Friday night I did, I did invite some margaritas that made me a little tipsy.

[00:03:30] So yes.

[00:03:31] Of course.

[00:03:32] Which was good.

[00:03:33] Yes.

[00:03:34] Yeah.

[00:03:35] And you and Dennis are going to what Mexico this month?

[00:03:38] Is that right?

[00:03:39] Yeah.

[00:03:40] Yeah, we'll be in Mexico City in two weeks.

[00:03:43] We got to fly to Carmen in 10 days or so.

[00:03:48] Something like that.

[00:03:49] Fine.

[00:03:50] Are you excited?

[00:03:52] Yes.

[00:03:53] We have a wedding to go to and then a little side vacation in Mexico City afterwards.

[00:03:59] So yeah, excited to be off from work.

[00:04:04] I'm almost like 90% sure I'm not going to pay for my laptop.

[00:04:09] So okay.

[00:04:12] So yeah, I've warned work.

[00:04:16] Nature.

[00:04:17] Everyone knows that I will be gone and it's almost time I get to almost two weeks off

[00:04:21] because the way the vacation runs runs into your Memorial Day weekend.

[00:04:25] So.

[00:04:26] All right.

[00:04:27] Oh my God, I can't believe Memorial Day is here.

[00:04:29] Summer's basically over.

[00:04:30] Well, I mean today is May the 5th.

[00:04:34] So revenge of the fifth as the Star Wars fans would say.

[00:04:38] Oh.

[00:04:39] Yesterday was May the 4th be with you.

[00:04:41] I know.

[00:04:42] I know.

[00:04:43] Yes.

[00:04:44] I mean, I was like someone who likes multiple genres, not just Star Trek.

[00:04:49] That was pretty cool.

[00:04:51] I didn't realize that May the 5th is also a thing.

[00:04:55] I think it's just to continue the and also fifth.

[00:04:58] So you know, that sort of plan words.

[00:05:00] Yeah.

[00:05:01] I know.

[00:05:02] I know understand and comprehend.

[00:05:03] Okay.

[00:05:04] Well, you know, I'm just not sure.

[00:05:05] Yeah.

[00:05:06] Yeah.

[00:05:07] It's never realized it was a thing.

[00:05:09] Okay.

[00:05:10] Yeah.

[00:05:11] There's not a lot.

[00:05:12] I mean, it's mostly the fourth, you know, May the 4th.

[00:05:13] Right.

[00:05:15] I mean, they know how to do May the 4th.

[00:05:20] Unlike other franchises who I know, who do not do first contact day well or Star Trek

[00:05:28] anniversary day.

[00:05:30] Well, yes, there could be some notes taken from said examples.

[00:05:38] Well, I think that part of it needs to.

[00:05:42] I mean, I think May the 4th has also been very fan driven.

[00:05:47] It's not necessarily like, oh, the brand obviously the brand makes a thing out of it.

[00:05:52] But you know, I think it's very like even like corporations get onto it.

[00:05:57] I just don't think, you know, Star Trek has the same cachet, you know, as Star Wars

[00:06:02] does and the same kind of mainline attraction.

[00:06:06] Like I'm not going to.

[00:06:07] I don't want to say, you know, corporations like jumping in on, you know, first

[00:06:12] contact day like a border.

[00:06:14] Oh, I'm not even talking about that.

[00:06:15] I was thinking like so yesterday they released a trailer for the Acklite, which is their

[00:06:22] new series starting in a month.

[00:06:24] Yeah.

[00:06:25] And which is a pretty big deal.

[00:06:27] You know, it's like a meaty trailer to and then they also released the tales of the

[00:06:34] Empire, you know, a six episode animated shorts.

[00:06:41] And also this past week was the finale of the Bad Batch.

[00:06:44] So you know, it just, you know, I think they've planted out a little bit more, more closely.

[00:06:52] And I think, you know, are, you know, the namesake of this podcast franchise to take

[00:06:59] some notes.

[00:07:00] That's all that's all I'm saying.

[00:07:02] Yeah.

[00:07:03] Anyway.

[00:07:04] Yeah.

[00:07:06] Yeah.

[00:07:08] I did the Acklite trailer.

[00:07:09] I did.

[00:07:10] I did watch that.

[00:07:11] Yeah, yeah.

[00:07:12] Yeah, it was really good.

[00:07:15] The ending is very the end of the trailer is very interesting.

[00:07:19] I didn't realize so what's his name from?

[00:07:22] I can't pronounce his name nor do I recall it.

[00:07:25] The guy from Squid Game was in the Acklite.

[00:07:29] Yeah, he was the main in Squid Game.

[00:07:31] He put he's the Asian Jedi master.

[00:07:34] I don't know his name.

[00:07:35] Oh, OK.

[00:07:36] Well, there are several Asian people in this show, which is great.

[00:07:41] But he learned English for this role.

[00:07:46] Oh, I was like, oh, that's so cool.

[00:07:48] That's interesting.

[00:07:49] Wow, that is amazing.

[00:07:51] Yeah.

[00:07:52] I'm more interested in the red bladed individual at the end of the trailer.

[00:07:57] That's really interesting.

[00:07:59] Oh, yeah.

[00:07:59] We have not seen before or someone we've not seen before.

[00:08:03] Yeah, I don't know.

[00:08:06] Yes, but this is not a Star Wars podcast.

[00:08:09] This is a Star Trek podcast.

[00:08:11] I mean, we talk about like other other series like one day last time.

[00:08:17] No, no, I mean, you know, if this were a Star Wars podcast,

[00:08:20] I'd be like, oh, it was Darth so and so.

[00:08:22] But, you know, I have no idea.

[00:08:23] Do you have a theory as to who it is?

[00:08:25] Oh, no, no, I have no idea who it is.

[00:08:27] I'm sure, you know, yeah.

[00:08:28] I listened to one or two other Star Trek podcast,

[00:08:32] a Star Wars podcast rather.

[00:08:34] And I have not heard from their perspective on the trailer.

[00:08:40] Oh, interesting.

[00:08:42] All right.

[00:08:43] That's actually where I get my more money

[00:08:45] information from for more experts in that room.

[00:08:48] So I see.

[00:08:50] Yeah, got it.

[00:08:53] So anyway, anything else you've been watching or taking of?

[00:08:58] Oh, oh, like TV and movies and such.

[00:09:04] Oh, I want to see Civil War.

[00:09:06] I told you about that.

[00:09:07] Oh, right. Yeah.

[00:09:08] Yes, yes, yes.

[00:09:09] Yeah, which I actually thought was really good.

[00:09:12] I think that they

[00:09:14] marketed it in a very obviously specific way, but it ended up being

[00:09:18] it felt like a very indie movie and it was

[00:09:21] really more of a character study of sorts.

[00:09:24] I thought it was I thought it was really good.

[00:09:26] It was really, really well done.

[00:09:28] And I liked it more than I thought I would.

[00:09:30] So it was like mentioned to this to you, though,

[00:09:32] it was a very stressful two hours.

[00:09:35] Like there was just like a very, you know, it's like a war movie.

[00:09:37] Like there is a war movie aspect to it.

[00:09:40] Yeah, so it was just like it was very, very tense.

[00:09:44] But it was really, really, really well done.

[00:09:47] OK.

[00:09:48] So and then what does have been seeing or watching?

[00:09:53] I started watching the Dead Boy Detective Agency.

[00:09:57] I watched one episode of that.

[00:09:58] Yeah, which is just OK.

[00:10:00] I mean, it's enjoyable.

[00:10:00] It's like it's like a you know,

[00:10:02] you know, kind of Neil Gaiman and Sam and Universe

[00:10:06] extension kind of series.

[00:10:09] And it's magical.

[00:10:11] The two leads are kind of cute, like, you know, whatever.

[00:10:15] So it's British.

[00:10:19] Exactly.

[00:10:19] Things that are appealing about it.

[00:10:21] So yeah, I just started that.

[00:10:24] I'm not too deep into it yet.

[00:10:25] I think, yeah, it's just like one episode.

[00:10:28] I'm trying to figure out how I am six episodes

[00:10:31] into three body problems.

[00:10:33] I've got two more to go.

[00:10:34] Oh, wow, you are like trudging through it.

[00:10:37] And yeah, it takes a certain mental and energy to

[00:10:42] to go through that.

[00:10:43] So I mean, and it also the thing is the last few episodes,

[00:10:48] it slows down.

[00:10:50] Like I feel like the climax in terms of story telling.

[00:10:55] In plot and narrative like plot

[00:10:59] in terms of driving forward is around episode five.

[00:11:02] And then it really slows down.

[00:11:05] And then it's kind of setting things up for the next season.

[00:11:08] So I actually have issues with the pacing,

[00:11:11] but wow, it's been a while.

[00:11:14] I mean, we were talking about three body problem last time.

[00:11:16] Yeah, I mean, you know, yeah, you know,

[00:11:19] I go away from it, come back to it, you know, whatever.

[00:11:23] You know, I watch things that whatever my mood pertains.

[00:11:27] Like today while I was doing chores,

[00:11:29] I was watching some Babylon 5.

[00:11:31] So, you know, it just depends on whether.

[00:11:36] So here's my thought on three body problem

[00:11:38] is that I actually need to pay attention.

[00:11:40] Like I have to I have to be like present for it

[00:11:45] and be willing to sit there and engage

[00:11:48] solidly for the time.

[00:11:51] And so that's that's a problem with that show.

[00:11:54] It's not like frivolous and like if I miss something,

[00:11:58] you know, it's not no big deal like in, you know, dead boys,

[00:12:01] detective agency or whatever.

[00:12:03] But you know, is that how you are or Star Trek 2?

[00:12:05] You're just like multitasking usually?

[00:12:09] No. So I mean, I've

[00:12:11] well, I've been watching the episodes at least twice

[00:12:15] on the once on the screener and once on the

[00:12:19] Paramount Plus once Paramount Plus.

[00:12:22] Yes. So there's that.

[00:12:24] Yeah.

[00:12:26] Yeah, because, you know, we don't have the closed captioning.

[00:12:29] So that's really helpful to catch up on like little details.

[00:12:34] And yeah.

[00:12:37] And yeah.

[00:12:38] And actually now that we can we can sort of segue

[00:12:40] into Star Trek Discovery a little bit,

[00:12:43] I am really enjoying this season.

[00:12:45] So I'm sort of like really engaged with it.

[00:12:49] And yeah.

[00:12:51] Yeah, we are we talking about news too?

[00:12:53] Or we're just going to.

[00:12:54] Oh, oh, yeah, I guess.

[00:12:56] Yeah, I mean, yeah.

[00:12:57] All right. So yeah, let's talk about the couple of news things that

[00:13:02] came up.

[00:13:04] The big one I think everyone on the internet is disappointed with

[00:13:08] is that Lower Dex was is canceled after five seasons.

[00:13:13] Yeah.

[00:13:14] You were definitely more surprised about it than I was only

[00:13:18] because I read interviews.

[00:13:21] So my man had already been kind of dropping.

[00:13:25] I think she was dropping reservations back last fall,

[00:13:30] that whether or not it was even going to be more than five seasons.

[00:13:34] So yeah, I was already kind of like mentally like, OK,

[00:13:37] like it might be five seasons might just be a thing.

[00:13:40] So I think when you saw the news, you were much,

[00:13:43] you're much angrier and I had already been like, you know, this is this.

[00:13:47] This is how I was angry.

[00:13:48] Yeah, I was definitely angry about this.

[00:13:52] Yeah, that's just not surprise.

[00:13:54] I think of all the turmoil at Paramount Plus is Paramount Plus

[00:13:59] even still going to rather paramount is Paramount Plus

[00:14:02] even going to still be a thing?

[00:14:04] But you know, like there's so much uncertainty with Paramount.

[00:14:08] I just think that wherever they can cut money, they are.

[00:14:13] Yeah, I mean, yeah, I know it's a business

[00:14:17] and I just think it sucks because I think it's one of the.

[00:14:21] Best parts about our Star Trek franchise right now is Lower Decks.

[00:14:25] I mean, it's you know,

[00:14:28] it's been around.

[00:14:29] I mean, this it's been around for four years.

[00:14:31] It's coming up on its fifth anniversary and

[00:14:34] it's just a really enjoyable

[00:14:40] piece that you can just jump into any episode.

[00:14:42] Like you could just pick a random episode and just watch it and enjoy.

[00:14:45] And it's got very much that kind of vibe to it.

[00:14:49] Yeah, so yeah, I mean, I don't know.

[00:14:53] I just it's you know, it's having faith

[00:14:56] in these leaders at Paramount is just really challenging.

[00:15:02] Well, you know, they are their CEO, right?

[00:15:04] So there's no CEO right now.

[00:15:07] Oh, yeah, I did.

[00:15:09] Yeah, I mean, he got 50 million dollars.

[00:15:11] I mean, yes, he did.

[00:15:13] I got a little girl, you know, so I'm not too worried about that person.

[00:15:19] I was. Oh, no, it's not him.

[00:15:21] I think it's more just like there's no leadership, right?

[00:15:24] There there really isn't anyone kind of steering the future at Paramount

[00:15:30] at the moment. So let alone I mean, Star Trek is one of their IPs.

[00:15:37] I don't know. You know, I feel they have bigger fish to fry

[00:15:39] if I was in the boardroom trying to figure out like, you know, what to do about the company.

[00:15:45] Yeah, sure. I mean, yeah, I mean, it's

[00:15:49] it's not a company that I would say has had strong direction to begin with.

[00:15:55] The fact that they only they don't have a CEO anymore really

[00:15:58] doesn't doesn't like phase me in the lease.

[00:16:03] But I guess you sent me the you sent me the link that the talk said

[00:16:08] or you sent me a thing that said the talks had broken down.

[00:16:12] Shocking that broke down as well.

[00:16:15] I mean, all of these things just point to really poor leadership on

[00:16:22] on their part, you know, it's I think it's an overall thing.

[00:16:25] I mean, I wish there was a way for Star Trek to be spun out onto its own entity

[00:16:30] and or, you know, some well, they sell if they sell the IP for parts

[00:16:36] like if they sell like all Paramount's IPs and someone else may very well

[00:16:39] won't start tracking next year.

[00:16:41] Who knows? Yeah.

[00:16:43] So so yeah, it's kind of a mess.

[00:16:47] It's just hopefully we still have some stars.

[00:16:51] I mean, obviously, we know that Section 30 wants them come out

[00:16:54] some in this year, I think, right? Section 31.

[00:16:57] I mean, they just finished filming, so I don't think that they're not, you know.

[00:17:02] Yeah, I think it's a 25.

[00:17:05] And we know that we're getting Academy because I mean, hopefully

[00:17:11] but you know, they just built a big set.

[00:17:13] They spent the money.

[00:17:14] They're going to film on it.

[00:17:16] So did they build it?

[00:17:19] The very finished.

[00:17:20] That's so I don't know.

[00:17:22] Well, they did rename the studios up there as the Stratrex Studio or whatever stage.

[00:17:28] Yeah. Yeah.

[00:17:29] So there's that.

[00:17:31] Yeah, but I'm going back to lower decks.

[00:17:32] I am really bummed about that.

[00:17:33] And I hope that yeah, it finds another home

[00:17:39] that will keep it going.

[00:17:41] But on that same note, there is a save the date for everyone.

[00:17:46] They're encouraging everyone to stream

[00:17:49] do a stream of on a lower decks on May 25th.

[00:17:53] So I don't know what day that is.

[00:17:54] That's the Saturday, isn't it?

[00:17:56] I think.

[00:17:57] I don't know.

[00:17:58] So

[00:18:00] so hopefully, you know, maybe that will

[00:18:05] drive some attention to because you can.

[00:18:08] I mean, honestly, you can put on Paramount Plus and just hit play

[00:18:11] and like just let it keep on playing through all five season four seasons.

[00:18:16] Does Paramount Plus auto play?

[00:18:18] I don't even know.

[00:18:20] Oh, is it does it do the Netflix?

[00:18:23] Yeah, it does because if you're done, if you're at the end of a show,

[00:18:27] it'll take you to the next show in your OK.

[00:18:29] OK. Yeah.

[00:18:31] Yeah, I don't use Paramount Plus enough.

[00:18:33] I mean, obviously, I do.

[00:18:33] I watch but I don't that is just auto play.

[00:18:38] Yeah. I mean, there's not much else

[00:18:39] that I've watched on there other than Star Trek.

[00:18:41] But yeah.

[00:18:44] Yeah. Knuckles.

[00:18:47] Oh, I don't even know why knuckles it.

[00:18:49] Oh, knuckles.

[00:18:50] Oh, the Sonic Sonic Sonic thing.

[00:18:53] Spinoff. Yeah.

[00:18:54] Yeah. So all right.

[00:18:56] So let's encourage everyone to watch lower decks on May 25th.

[00:19:02] Stream that on Paramount Plus as much as you can.

[00:19:04] Leave it running all day.

[00:19:07] And yeah, let's see if that does anything.

[00:19:12] Probably won't. But I don't think.

[00:19:14] I don't like Shigemite. I don't think I'm doing it.

[00:19:16] Yeah, I know.

[00:19:17] Well, we'll give a lot of ad revenue to some someone.

[00:19:22] Someone. So maybe.

[00:19:26] Well, you know, you pay for you pay for Paramount Plus

[00:19:28] so you don't even see ads.

[00:19:31] Don't buy. Don't you?

[00:19:32] Do you? I don't think so.

[00:19:34] No, aren't you paying?

[00:19:35] Don't you have the ad free level?

[00:19:38] I mean, I have the I have the annual subscription,

[00:19:41] which I'm sort of mad at the fact that I did that now that all these,

[00:19:45] you know, I should just do what everyone else does

[00:19:47] and like cancel it every couple of months

[00:19:50] when there's no new Star Trek or whatever.

[00:19:53] Yeah, you're not watching it.

[00:19:54] I mean, I guess you you have it

[00:19:56] so that you can stream the old stuff at any point.

[00:19:58] Yeah, yeah, exactly.

[00:20:00] So that's fine.

[00:20:02] Yeah, once in a while, you know, yeah.

[00:20:04] I mean, I enjoy streaming.

[00:20:07] I mean, I did a few weeks ago.

[00:20:09] I think I started streaming season three of the cards.

[00:20:12] There's that and watch the chase.

[00:20:17] And now there's a green episode that I need to go back and watch

[00:20:20] from season nine.

[00:20:23] There are like a bunch of episodes

[00:20:25] where the green kind of show up after they.

[00:20:27] Yeah, there's one that they, you know,

[00:20:29] they popped into their Instagram feed or whatever.

[00:20:32] Oh, OK. Well, there was that one I recall where it was like

[00:20:37] it was then they discovered that Mar-Talk was imprisoned or something like that.

[00:20:41] And then there was a green in the prison.

[00:20:43] Do you want to get on time?

[00:20:45] I mean, it's been a while.

[00:20:46] So I need to go back on track sports right now.

[00:20:52] I just don't remember all this shit.

[00:20:54] Oh, yeah, no, no, no.

[00:20:56] Yeah. And speaking of which is why I have my iPad here open

[00:21:00] to all the pages for the day,

[00:21:03] the episodes that we're about to talk about. Right.

[00:21:06] Oh, yeah, I wouldn't remember anything. Oh my God.

[00:21:10] You know, just sliding into discovery.

[00:21:13] I wish they would just put the titles on the episodes on like.

[00:21:17] You know, after the title slide for search discovery and then

[00:21:22] like the card season three did or yes, what Lordex does.

[00:21:26] Yes. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:21:28] I wish they would just there's a place there for because then

[00:21:31] then when the discovery swoops in swoops into the frame and then out of the frame,

[00:21:36] they show the writers and the doctor.

[00:21:38] So why not just put the title in there at the same time?

[00:21:43] I don't get it.

[00:21:44] It's just not something they have adopted for no.

[00:21:49] Most of the new series in inexplicable reasons.

[00:21:53] Oh, yeah, I don't know. I don't know.

[00:21:56] I mean, I think it's like how like enterprise

[00:22:00] tried to decide to not have Star Trek in it for the first two seasons.

[00:22:05] Oh, yeah. You know, I think that's like they're trying to accept a way.

[00:22:10] Except stupid or stupid.

[00:22:12] Yeah. Oh, and then did you see them?

[00:22:15] Michelle, you get the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

[00:22:18] I did. I did see that.

[00:22:21] Along with Matthew Shepard's mom, which is really awesome.

[00:22:27] Who's that?

[00:22:28] Matthew Shepard was the boy who was killed in Montana 25 years ago.

[00:22:35] He's one of the first high profile, like.

[00:22:39] She is so the Matthew Shepard Foundation.

[00:22:41] She founded the Matthew Shepard Foundation.

[00:22:44] Oh, OK, this sounds like it now.

[00:22:47] Yeah. So.

[00:22:51] Cool. Yeah. So she also got it.

[00:22:52] But our queen, Michelle Yeo also received it as well.

[00:22:58] So kudos to her.

[00:23:02] And was there any other major news?

[00:23:04] I'm trying to think if there's anything else.

[00:23:05] So I mean, the big thing was Lower Decks for me.

[00:23:08] I mean, I can't think of anything.

[00:23:09] I think that was the biggest news item.

[00:23:11] I don't think any of the power of stuff is like new news.

[00:23:14] It's more status quo.

[00:23:18] Status quo of this shit show.

[00:23:20] Yeah. Essentially.

[00:23:22] Yeah. That is paramount, not that is Star Trek Discovery.

[00:23:25] That's not what I'm saying. So yeah.

[00:23:29] Yes. Well, yes.

[00:23:31] Shall we talk about some Star Trek episodes?

[00:23:34] Because we have we have so many to cover.

[00:23:36] Yes, there's so behind.

[00:23:39] We do.

[00:23:42] So let's first talk about Episode 3, Janal.

[00:23:46] What did you think of Janal?

[00:23:50] I thought Janal was fine.

[00:23:51] It wasn't my favorite episode.

[00:23:53] It was like I felt that like a lot of it actually.

[00:23:56] So I don't I didn't love episodes two and three

[00:24:00] because they both felt very similar.

[00:24:02] I think that we remember what you thought about Episode 2,

[00:24:07] the one with like Sirulid Michael on the planet.

[00:24:09] And they're like, you know, trying to get it off.

[00:24:12] Yeah, this is very similar.

[00:24:13] There's a whole sequence of like just it was Michael and Buck

[00:24:15] who tried not to get below.

[00:24:16] It was almost exactly the same

[00:24:18] except they were in a storm quarry versus like a forest.

[00:24:20] It was like this is literally like the same episode.

[00:24:24] And it's literally another like chase after the peace.

[00:24:27] Or you know, it was just like it was fine.

[00:24:30] Trills very boring as a location.

[00:24:32] Like it's just like I wish they did something different.

[00:24:35] It's like, OK, it's the cave in Stone Corrie again.

[00:24:37] We've seen this before.

[00:24:38] Like it's just like not very like interesting.

[00:24:42] I think plot wise.

[00:24:43] I mean, there are a few things that were cool.

[00:24:44] Like, you know, I think that the highlight for me

[00:24:47] in the episode was probably Colbert.

[00:24:50] And I think that he did a great job, just kind of like, you know,

[00:24:54] his whole Gentaro experience.

[00:24:56] I thought that was I thought that was like the best part.

[00:25:00] The rest of the episode, I was just like whatever.

[00:25:03] It was it's very like this.

[00:25:05] It felt like a repeat of the previous episode for me in many ways.

[00:25:10] And then we were talking about this before we started recording.

[00:25:13] But the Adira.

[00:25:16] Oh, my God. The Adira and Gray breakup.

[00:25:19] It was just like whatever they just had to it was very just

[00:25:23] they had to do it.

[00:25:24] It was a checkbox.

[00:25:25] It was like, OK, we resolve that now.

[00:25:28] You know, the relationship is over.

[00:25:29] It's like almost like.

[00:25:32] Like it was like margin better than if I was in comparison.

[00:25:37] Neelix and Cass breaking up.

[00:25:38] It's like, OK, it kind of happened.

[00:25:40] We've moved on.

[00:25:41] They're taking other people now, you know, like it's just like

[00:25:45] I just feel great.

[00:25:46] Never really had a purpose on the show other than being an extension of Adira.

[00:25:51] And I'm going to repeat myself.

[00:25:54] They made a big PR announcement.

[00:25:55] Oh, you're transgender person.

[00:25:58] And it was just like whatever.

[00:26:00] And it's just like it's fine.

[00:26:02] You know, I just think.

[00:26:05] Checkbox checked, you know, we're done.

[00:26:08] It's over.

[00:26:09] That relationship has ended and we can move on for our lives.

[00:26:12] You know, it's just whatever.

[00:26:14] It was like it was a thought.

[00:26:15] It was not the best episode for me.

[00:26:17] It was fine.

[00:26:19] Some highlights, mostly low lights.

[00:26:23] I've moved on.

[00:26:25] So that's my TLTR for the episode.

[00:26:27] What did you think, Mike?

[00:26:29] What did you think?

[00:26:30] Well, I I did not think about it as a repeat of the previous episode.

[00:26:35] But now that you say that, I can totally see how that is.

[00:26:39] But I mean, honestly, Wilson Cruz's portrayal of Janal

[00:26:43] and that whole experience, I think was definitely the best part about that episode.

[00:26:48] Yes.

[00:26:49] Hands down, you know, it was.

[00:26:52] And, you know, to the, you know, he did an amazing job with it

[00:26:55] just from everything about just that you could tell that he was playing

[00:27:00] a different character like just major acting chops were shown there.

[00:27:06] And from the behind the scenes stuff that I've heard about and read

[00:27:11] like they were loving it.

[00:27:13] So the other the rest of the cast and whatnot.

[00:27:16] So really kudos to him for that,

[00:27:20] because that was the most enjoyable part.

[00:27:22] I think absolutely. Yeah.

[00:27:23] We've we've seen we've obviously seen this experience in Deep

[00:27:28] Sace Nine, which is also a really memorable and really well done episode.

[00:27:33] Very good.

[00:27:34] And yeah, all the actors did a great job portraying

[00:27:38] other people, other cells.

[00:27:39] Yes. Yeah, exactly.

[00:27:41] So he he joins that cadre of really great actors

[00:27:48] and portraying that trill takeover of spirit and mind.

[00:27:53] But and I also really like and this is again, it ties back to I think we've

[00:27:58] we've talked about this before, just our love of Deep Sace Nine

[00:28:00] and the spiritual aspect of it.

[00:28:02] I think that the questions that came out of this and go through

[00:28:06] the next several episodes with Culver about spirituality and everything

[00:28:11] is really great to see.

[00:28:13] It's really especially given what Culver has been through.

[00:28:20] Right, it makes sense.

[00:28:21] So I mean, I was interested because he was like,

[00:28:24] oh, there's really no scientific kind of explanation for the Jintar ritual.

[00:28:30] But I thought that was interesting because how many times has another

[00:28:33] consciousness basically possessed or taken over, you know, someone else's body?

[00:28:40] It happens every series, potentially once a season, you know,

[00:28:44] like that there's no scientific explanation for how that happens

[00:28:48] or how trans sort of consciousness happens.

[00:28:50] Like even having a project most recently, like Janeway and Dow like switch body,

[00:28:54] you know, like these are all potentially what you might call

[00:28:57] like spiritual experiences or soul switching or conscious switching.

[00:29:01] You know, like I'm using soul and consciousness very interchangeably.

[00:29:05] They're not the same thing.

[00:29:06] But it's just like, oh, it's what there's no scientific explanation

[00:29:09] for how this happens, like at all at any point ever or right.

[00:29:13] I don't know, you know, like it's kind of odd that I thought it was

[00:29:17] it's odd that his his reaction was like,

[00:29:22] I don't have a scientific explanation for it.

[00:29:24] It just happens so frequently that it just it's almost like

[00:29:28] I feel as though it's disturbing that if there's no scientific explanation

[00:29:31] for when it happens outside of Chintara, you know, outside

[00:29:35] it's not just in Tara.

[00:29:35] It happens so frequently.

[00:29:37] Right. Yeah.

[00:29:38] I mean, Chintara is like process.

[00:29:42] Like it's a there's, you know, there is a ritual to it.

[00:29:46] You know, there's a process.

[00:29:47] Yeah.

[00:29:48] But, you know, we've had plenty of non-caporial beings

[00:29:51] floating out there, which you could go if you want to see us or in a way,

[00:29:55] right? Like they are ghosts and, you know, it's a disembodied consciousness.

[00:30:00] Yeah, I don't know.

[00:30:00] You know, like the because they sometimes skirt the line between science

[00:30:05] and, you know, spirituality and magic, right?

[00:30:08] You can you can say it that way.

[00:30:10] I don't know.

[00:30:10] I just like raise some questions for me, which I haven't.

[00:30:13] I'm now processing out loud, but it's I don't know.

[00:30:17] You know, I thought that was an interesting observation.

[00:30:20] Yeah, I mean, but so yeah, I agree.

[00:30:24] It's a good point that it's done in all all the series of Star Trek.

[00:30:29] But I thought I had another thought about this episode, too.

[00:30:32] And about the whole quarry scene.

[00:30:35] I think that that's actually the quarry scene.

[00:30:37] The quarry scene.

[00:30:38] That's actually for me when it I think from my perspective,

[00:30:43] the the characters got that this is meant to be a challenge,

[00:30:47] like that this is not like something they're just going to be handed to

[00:30:50] because of who they are.

[00:30:51] Like they have to work through these things and figure them out.

[00:30:55] And I kind of like this.

[00:30:57] It's not a it doesn't feel like a puzzle box to me.

[00:30:59] It just feels like a kind of like an Indiana Jones is the best,

[00:31:04] I think, example of this adventure for this.

[00:31:07] And although you get at times this as we'll talk about in the next episode,

[00:31:12] this perspective of what happens if they don't find it or someone else finds it.

[00:31:19] You know, I think that it just it.

[00:31:23] For me, it makes this season kind of fun and exciting and different.

[00:31:27] And it's nice to not have the Discovery crew being

[00:31:31] running around trying to save the galaxy, although somewhat they are.

[00:31:35] But, you know, we can't.

[00:31:37] And of course, my phone needs to lead every away mission.

[00:31:40] But that's yes.

[00:31:41] Yes, she is the captain.

[00:31:44] But again, very much a reversal of protocol.

[00:31:49] But right.

[00:31:50] Well, yeah, of protocol during TNG or more TNG.

[00:31:55] I'm trying to think like.

[00:31:57] Archer always did it.

[00:31:58] The Turco is that it she's front, you know, Michael is from the 22nd century.

[00:32:03] So it's sort of that carry on of that spirit like the captain does it.

[00:32:08] Even Rainer is like that.

[00:32:11] Rainer is absolutely that kind of captain as well.

[00:32:15] You know, so.

[00:32:17] Yeah, I'm not trying to think I'm trying to think of how much sense

[00:32:20] it really makes practically speaking, you know, but yeah, fine.

[00:32:25] No, yeah.

[00:32:25] I mean, it is not always the best policy, I guess.

[00:32:29] Yeah, I'm trying military and, you know, naval policy.

[00:32:32] You wouldn't have a captain.

[00:32:34] That's a good.

[00:32:35] Yeah, I don't know every mission that doesn't really sense.

[00:32:39] Yeah, but it's fine.

[00:32:42] But, you know, I like this that they're changing up the crewing of this.

[00:32:47] And so I will mention it here.

[00:32:52] I don't know where in this season it's happened.

[00:32:54] Oh, wait. Wasn't this also the episode we had Saru and Trina having issues?

[00:33:00] Like what's it?

[00:33:01] Oh, I said, I probably.

[00:33:03] Oh my God.

[00:33:03] OK, it was like such an afterthought.

[00:33:07] Like it was just like this is the episode where there are a lot of little pieces.

[00:33:11] There were like five.

[00:33:12] Yeah, there were like five plots going on.

[00:33:14] And I was just like, it was a mess.

[00:33:15] I thought it was a mess because of that they were trying to do too much.

[00:33:19] And oh yeah, we didn't even talk about Rainer.

[00:33:21] This is the episode where Rainer was giving everyone like, you know,

[00:33:25] like 20 words to kind of describe themselves.

[00:33:27] You have right.

[00:33:28] There's too much going on.

[00:33:29] There's way too much going on.

[00:33:30] The Saru thing was a total afterthought and it just felt very

[00:33:35] disconquerous with everything else going on.

[00:33:39] And then we don't say Saru for like three episodes afterwards.

[00:33:41] I was like, what happened?

[00:33:42] I mean, Dr.

[00:33:42] Jones might be busy or something.

[00:33:44] It just felt he's off to discovery.

[00:33:46] He's like doing his own thing now, but they didn't do any.

[00:33:49] They didn't even make an effort to kind of tie his story into what was going on.

[00:33:54] It was way too much.

[00:33:55] It was way too much.

[00:33:57] It was a lot of subplots.

[00:34:00] Yeah, it was.

[00:34:01] It was a very.

[00:34:04] It was all over the place, literally all over the place.

[00:34:08] Yeah, I mean, really they were, you know, that's true.

[00:34:11] So usually like this is the ABCDE.

[00:34:16] I forgot.

[00:34:17] I forgot the Rainer piece of this.

[00:34:19] Rainer is, you know, coming off as a as an asshole in this episode.

[00:34:23] Right.

[00:34:25] You know, so yes, he is.

[00:34:29] You know, he does good.

[00:34:31] He has a good one with a Tilly.

[00:34:33] I was like, OK.

[00:34:34] Yeah, no, you know, as far as that goes, Tilly is the best part of that.

[00:34:37] Like I at this point in this season, I still don't like him.

[00:34:41] Like I just don't like him.

[00:34:44] I think it gets better in the next episode.

[00:34:47] It gets better, yes.

[00:34:48] But in this episode, I did not like him.

[00:34:51] I was like, you're a jerk.

[00:34:53] Of course, he was made to be a total bully.

[00:34:56] Oh, yeah.

[00:34:56] You don't like bullies.

[00:34:57] You get to like.

[00:34:57] Oh, yeah, I do not.

[00:34:58] I do not like bullies at all.

[00:35:00] Yeah, but I'm super happy that Tilly stood up to him.

[00:35:03] Oh, yeah.

[00:35:03] Super happy, which is funny, though, because Dennis has admitted

[00:35:07] that he was a bully in school.

[00:35:10] Yes, he was a bully.

[00:35:12] But I can totally see.

[00:35:13] Yeah, you know, Dennis being my partner.

[00:35:15] Dennis, yes, your partner.

[00:35:17] No, yes, I'm talking for the others in the room listening.

[00:35:21] Yes, yes.

[00:35:23] We've talked about that as we've talked about that before.

[00:35:25] Yeah, yes, you have said that.

[00:35:28] Yes, so there's that.

[00:35:29] There's this a routine there.

[00:35:31] Yeah, there's the Adira Adira.

[00:35:33] And you know what?

[00:35:34] You know, it was, you know, it was a it was a fine tie off of that.

[00:35:39] But of box.

[00:35:41] Yeah, I mean, yeah, exactly.

[00:35:42] Yeah.

[00:35:43] And we don't, you know, having now that we're up to episode six,

[00:35:49] you know, that was sort of the last bit of Saru and Terina for now.

[00:35:54] Yeah, I'm like, are they going to come back?

[00:35:56] Are we going to get a wedding?

[00:35:57] Oh, so here's here's the other thing.

[00:35:59] And I don't know if it's this episode or where it falls into these

[00:36:02] episodes, but, you know, I'm I love that we have like the core cast.

[00:36:08] Um, or cast.

[00:36:09] When you talk about the core core C or E core.

[00:36:13] Oh, I was like the web.

[00:36:14] There is no, no, no, the core cast and they're there.

[00:36:19] They're having stuff to do.

[00:36:21] What I am not liking as we move further into the season is the

[00:36:27] although next episode is a different story, but we we are losing the bridge crew.

[00:36:33] Like suddenly we, you know, by episode five.

[00:36:36] I don't even know where Depp Muren or Zacran are.

[00:36:39] They're going, they're going.

[00:36:40] No. Yeah.

[00:36:42] So they're like, they're driving.

[00:36:44] They're driving the IAS Enterprise back to the

[00:36:48] original headquarters.

[00:36:48] That's going to take like two years.

[00:36:50] Probably.

[00:36:52] Yeah.

[00:36:52] So that's one of the things I love having Tilly back.

[00:36:56] And you know, I love that all the core cast who's on the opening

[00:37:00] opening of the show are there.

[00:37:02] There is even, I think this is the episode where there's even this

[00:37:05] little scene between Reno and Stamets about like, don't you know what's going to happen?

[00:37:12] She's going down there.

[00:37:13] She's going to see her boyfriend or a partner and they're going to

[00:37:18] are not sure they're going to see their partner.

[00:37:24] Sorry, I misgendered Adira there.

[00:37:29] They're going to see their partner and it's just not going to be good news.

[00:37:32] And Jet is telling Paul this in the engineering and Paul's like,

[00:37:37] completely unaware, which is pretty, pretty, so unaware of things.

[00:37:42] Yes.

[00:37:42] He's pretty.

[00:37:43] No, they're fine.

[00:37:45] Yes.

[00:37:46] Yes.

[00:37:46] He's so unaware.

[00:37:47] He's like the he's like the parent who thinks everything is just fine and

[00:37:52] dandy and Culber is like the person in the trenches who is like, who if he

[00:37:59] wasn't going through his own stuff would be like, what's going on with you?

[00:38:04] Right.

[00:38:04] So anyway, so there's that piece.

[00:38:07] But getting back to my whole point, I'm missing the bridge for, I mean,

[00:38:11] we do get to see them back and we'll talk about it in a moment in the next episode.

[00:38:16] But any other final thoughts on Janelle?

[00:38:18] We should probably keep this rolling.

[00:38:19] And I will be here.

[00:38:20] I know.

[00:38:20] I feel like there's so much in this, there's too much and yet too

[00:38:24] little in this particular episode.

[00:38:26] Yeah.

[00:38:26] There's plenty of us to talk about.

[00:38:28] So let's keep on going.

[00:38:29] Yeah.

[00:38:29] Okay.

[00:38:30] So next episode, face the strange.

[00:38:33] So.

[00:38:33] Such a good episode.

[00:38:34] I love this episode.

[00:38:35] Oh, okay.

[00:38:37] Yeah.

[00:38:37] Wow.

[00:38:38] Well, do tell.

[00:38:39] Do share.

[00:38:39] Well, it was a very.

[00:38:41] Okay.

[00:38:41] So, you know, I love Tommy Wine episodes when it's done well.

[00:38:46] Like I think that I'm sure this is weeks later.

[00:38:49] So I'm sure some of our listeners or all three of them have probably

[00:38:54] heard the comparison to shattered, which is a, which was a

[00:38:59] Voyager episode season six and seven episode.

[00:39:02] I remember where do you know I'm talking about?

[00:39:05] No, I do not.

[00:39:06] Oh, it's the one where Chacote basically the Voyager goes

[00:39:11] through some sort of suspects distortion temporal anomaly

[00:39:14] field.

[00:39:16] Oh my word.

[00:39:17] And it gets broken up into different temporal pieces.

[00:39:22] So each part of the Voyager has, it's a different moment in time.

[00:39:27] Is this the one where Harry Kim dies and is replaced with his

[00:39:31] alternate universe version of Harry Kim?

[00:39:33] No, that's deadlocked in season one.

[00:39:36] That happened quite a while ago.

[00:39:39] That's not season one.

[00:39:40] No, that's not season one.

[00:39:41] It's season one or two.

[00:39:42] Sorry.

[00:39:43] Season one, two.

[00:39:44] It's super early.

[00:39:45] But this one was like season five, season six, maybe even

[00:39:49] season seven.

[00:39:49] I don't remember, but literally you have one part, the cargo bay is

[00:39:55] stuck in season three and seven is still Borg.

[00:39:59] And then you have Sesca, she's around and she, she's back.

[00:40:04] And she, you know, she realizes that something's going on.

[00:40:09] And Janeway is like season one, Janeway, and she doesn't even know

[00:40:14] about what's, you know, what's going to happen to the crew.

[00:40:17] So it's just, and Chacote is the only one for some reason that is

[00:40:23] able to, he remembers everything and he's able to pass through

[00:40:27] each of these temporal regions on Voyager unaffected.

[00:40:31] So anyway, it's very similar to that episode.

[00:40:34] And also it reminded me of relativity as well.

[00:40:37] The one where Southern is taken on board the US.

[00:40:40] Oh, Japan.

[00:40:42] And she's jumping around time and she was like on Voyager

[00:40:45] before it's out of space stock.

[00:40:46] And like, you know, like some of these episodes that have been

[00:40:49] done well with like Tommy Weineyship, I love it.

[00:40:54] It's just fun.

[00:40:55] You get callbacks, Easter eggs.

[00:40:58] It's like there's a lot, you know, a lot, lots happened on the

[00:41:03] USS Discovery.

[00:41:04] This crew has been through a lot.

[00:41:06] Mike was been through this journey.

[00:41:07] I thought that the whole scene with her fighting herself was

[00:41:11] so well choreographed.

[00:41:13] It's done so well.

[00:41:14] Oh, yeah.

[00:41:15] Very seamless.

[00:41:16] I was like, this is a lot of work.

[00:41:17] It had to plan every shot.

[00:41:18] Like it was like done very, very well.

[00:41:21] Like, you know, for sure.

[00:41:23] And and yeah, like, you know, all these callbacks, you're

[00:41:26] like the Red Angel, whatever the Red Angel control and

[00:41:33] Osirah, you know, whatever it was, it was just done so well.

[00:41:39] So I.

[00:41:40] Well, my favorite part was the Arian part.

[00:41:42] And Oh, area.

[00:41:44] Yes.

[00:41:44] So yes, so good to see the original Bridge Crew with the

[00:41:49] Arian.

[00:41:50] You old uniforms, old uniforms uniforms.

[00:41:53] Yeah.

[00:41:53] Brought those out of storage.

[00:41:55] Dust it goes off and put those back on.

[00:41:57] They still fit, I guess.

[00:41:58] I guess so.

[00:42:00] But no, the Arian, the Arian part was great because

[00:42:05] I think it's been a while since I've talked about that

[00:42:08] area episode back in season three was wait, season two.

[00:42:12] Sorry.

[00:42:12] Season two was so good.

[00:42:15] But break all back.

[00:42:18] Yeah, no, it was it was it was good.

[00:42:20] I just I just like really enjoyed it.

[00:42:22] And yes, we get some, you know, it was also like it was

[00:42:28] an whole episode where Michael and Rainer got to work

[00:42:30] out the differences and learn to work together.

[00:42:33] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:42:34] I was just about to say that.

[00:42:35] Yeah.

[00:42:36] So it was also like life lessons learned, you know.

[00:42:41] Yeah.

[00:42:41] And then kind of I know his the previous episode

[00:42:44] information comes into usefulness when he's being

[00:42:49] when Rainer and Sam is doing engineering

[00:42:52] and they're being held hostage by Michael and Reese.

[00:42:55] And he says that was annoying.

[00:42:57] OK, the only thing that's only so my only nitpick is

[00:43:01] Michael needs to go to the bridge

[00:43:03] and convince everyone in like two minutes

[00:43:05] that she's from the future.

[00:43:07] I'm like, maybe just show them your combat

[00:43:09] because it's like, oh, you heard this is weird technology.

[00:43:12] Instead of just trying to convince everyone, like, you know,

[00:43:14] through like conversations like, oh my God, just, you know,

[00:43:16] at least show them something like, you know, and then show it in

[00:43:19] Aram season, eventually.

[00:43:21] It sounds cool to know, but why not start with that?

[00:43:24] Being from the future.

[00:43:26] Look at my technology.

[00:43:27] I can like make a phaser come out nowhere.

[00:43:30] And also when they're in engineering, Sam, it could be like,

[00:43:33] do you see this like treacherous and weird looking thing

[00:43:37] that's like in the console?

[00:43:38] I need to do something about this.

[00:43:39] Do you want to say about this?

[00:43:40] They don't even try showing like, oh, there is like this like weird

[00:43:44] spider like doing shit in your engineering, you know, right,

[00:43:49] right, you know, in the engineering conduit or whatever.

[00:43:51] You know what I mean?

[00:43:52] I bought that, though, because this Mike this version of Michael

[00:43:55] is super headstrong, super just mad at the universe and doesn't

[00:44:02] write, but will not listen to the scientists show

[00:44:05] something empirical that she can actually see.

[00:44:07] Yeah, she's a scientist.

[00:44:08] She can be reasoned with still like she's a she's a you know,

[00:44:12] I don't know what I'm like.

[00:44:13] What is she? Yeah, at least show her something.

[00:44:16] At least show her something that she can see and measure, right?

[00:44:18] Yeah. And not just try to appeal to her feelings like, you know,

[00:44:21] especially, you know, I mean, I'm just trying to think

[00:44:23] because she should be logical.

[00:44:24] Yes, she's gone through this trauma of kind of like having

[00:44:27] done something bad, but her broken mind would be like,

[00:44:30] what the fuck is that, you know, like at least start there.

[00:44:33] That'll take 30 seconds if it doesn't work or 10 seconds.

[00:44:36] Even if it doesn't work, move on to your plan B,

[00:44:38] which is to talk her into it, you know, I'm just like, OK,

[00:44:42] you heard of a short cut.

[00:44:44] You literally have like two minutes, you know, like do something,

[00:44:48] do something. So I got you.

[00:44:50] OK, that means my one nitpick about this episode.

[00:44:53] OK, well, I mean, one pick that's not bad for how I'm usually

[00:44:58] for you for you.

[00:45:00] Many notes, many notes, a lot of feedback.

[00:45:03] But anyway, yes, I'm in.

[00:45:06] I'm done talking. You go.

[00:45:09] You can kind of mention.

[00:45:10] I mean, I enjoyed the episode, too.

[00:45:12] I, you know, I was super impressed with how they did

[00:45:17] the choreographed scenes with with her double and, you know,

[00:45:23] and it really looked like Burnham from season one or whatever.

[00:45:27] Oh, yeah, the hair.

[00:45:29] That's a good idea.

[00:45:30] It was just it was so throwback.

[00:45:33] How are they? I was like, how are they doing this?

[00:45:36] How do they do this hair and makeup?

[00:45:38] I mean, yeah, no.

[00:45:39] So, yeah, huge props to hair and makeup for this job.

[00:45:43] And then them fighting, you know, huge, huge.

[00:45:46] Yeah, I mean, really, I mean, yeah, as far as the Burnham

[00:45:50] on Burnham, Burnham versus Burnham pieces,

[00:45:54] I thought we're so well done.

[00:45:56] Just so well done.

[00:45:58] Yeah, and just, yeah.

[00:46:01] Oh, one other nitpick.

[00:46:03] No one said anything about uniforms

[00:46:06] other than the space being like, you look good in red.

[00:46:09] I'm like, but wait, what about the captain's pipsome

[00:46:13] or something, which I didn't I don't even see the regular pips on them.

[00:46:16] I don't even know how you recognize it.

[00:46:17] It's on their combats now.

[00:46:19] Oh, it's on the comb.

[00:46:19] OK, but I don't even I only look there.

[00:46:22] But then also partially under the chin,

[00:46:25] there's some differences with the other thing.

[00:46:28] But it's also like you're wearing complete uniform.

[00:46:30] What is this? You know, yeah, I could have used like one or two comments

[00:46:34] about what is this uniform, bitch?

[00:46:36] You know, yeah, yeah.

[00:46:38] Yep. No, that's you look at a place.

[00:46:41] Even even Reno didn't even really

[00:46:44] or she made a comment about it or something, I thought.

[00:46:47] But I thought she was just like, oh, who are you?

[00:46:52] And then he Rainer was kind of just like, oh, I'm part time.

[00:46:56] I'm part of her.

[00:46:57] Something, yeah, like, OK.

[00:46:59] Yeah.

[00:47:02] Yeah, I mean, it was great to see Reno again.

[00:47:04] I really enjoy that character and I know she's never gotten enough to do.

[00:47:10] But you know, she's good.

[00:47:12] It's a you know, it's a guest starring role for her.

[00:47:14] And it's just something fun to bring the attitude and, you know,

[00:47:18] because you don't get that attitude anymore

[00:47:20] because Stamets is like, oh, woo, woo now.

[00:47:23] And like I'm happy.

[00:47:25] So there's no one to bring like bring the grouch.

[00:47:30] Yeah, no, I I enjoyed the episode too.

[00:47:34] Yeah, you know, it felt appropriately.

[00:47:40] Yeah, it was just a really well done time travel episode.

[00:47:43] Like this stakes felt real throughout the episode.

[00:47:47] Right.

[00:47:48] And including when she when she and Rainer jumped to the future

[00:47:52] for a feature and they see the destroyed Federation headquarters,

[00:47:57] which I'm like, if that's destroyed, how is discovery in one piece?

[00:48:01] But anyway, I don't know.

[00:48:04] So there's that bit.

[00:48:05] But I also felt like it was almost a callback to the short

[00:48:08] trucks episode a little bit.

[00:48:10] Oh, yes, so yeah, it kind of was giving us those vibes.

[00:48:16] But we will never we'll never know.

[00:48:19] So but I you know, and it was also like 30 years in the future.

[00:48:23] So not a thousand or whatever.

[00:48:26] Whatever it was.

[00:48:27] Whatever. Well, you know, anyway, yeah, we could.

[00:48:30] It's OK. We don't need.

[00:48:31] I don't think we're ever going to reconcile it.

[00:48:33] It was a no, no, no, no, it's totally fine.

[00:48:35] It's totally fine. Yeah, it's fine.

[00:48:36] It's fine. Totally fine.

[00:48:38] So yeah, I'm yeah, overall, I really enjoyed it.

[00:48:42] I love the I love the way that the Bridge Crew treated Burnham

[00:48:48] because it was just so it was very season one.

[00:48:51] Like we don't trust you.

[00:48:53] We don't know you.

[00:48:54] Yeah, I'm near.

[00:48:55] You know, Dettmer, you know, Dettmer was on Shenzhou.

[00:48:59] So there you know, there's there's that.

[00:49:05] Yeah, so I thought it was just a really well done episode.

[00:49:08] And yeah.

[00:49:10] And suddenly we're back in the right timeline at the end of it all.

[00:49:14] And it's a big anomaly or no, they don't say that.

[00:49:18] So the next episode, but right.

[00:49:21] You know, they're like where they did my own lot go.

[00:49:23] They've disappeared from sensors. That's yeah.

[00:49:26] Yeah, yeah. Yeah.

[00:49:28] So yeah, just yeah, it was an enjoyable episode.

[00:49:32] That was a really surprisingly fun.

[00:49:36] And actually, I think it was it was appropriate time to take a break

[00:49:39] and have some fun with something that was a little less.

[00:49:46] I mean, it was intense, but it was a little less critical.

[00:49:49] I mean, that would be an episode that I would go back to and watch again

[00:49:53] just for the fun of the adventure of it.

[00:49:55] Yeah, yeah. So cool.

[00:50:00] Well, let's move on.

[00:50:02] Let's move on to we've already referenced it once or twice.

[00:50:05] Mirrors episode five.

[00:50:08] So we we track down that there's this anomaly

[00:50:12] or they they reveal that there's an anonymous.

[00:50:15] I can't even say anomaly.

[00:50:19] Yeah, hard word. It's a hard word.

[00:50:22] So it kind of looks like a wormhole.

[00:50:24] I don't remember exactly how they look like the wormhole.

[00:50:27] Right. But it's it's not the South Space pocket

[00:50:31] or something or interdimensional pocket, whatever.

[00:50:33] Yeah, whatever. Yeah. No Babel.

[00:50:36] Yes, whatever it is.

[00:50:38] It does look like partially like the Bajoran wormhole,

[00:50:41] but right that leads into a pocket universe.

[00:50:44] Yes, yes, yes, where where I called it.

[00:50:49] We find the enterprise, which is not exactly the enterprise.

[00:50:53] You are right on the fact that it was the ISS Enterprise.

[00:50:57] The ISS Enterprise.

[00:50:59] And so this is another like another.

[00:51:04] I mean, this is this as an A and a B plot.

[00:51:05] This is really where it's very clear.

[00:51:08] You know, it's

[00:51:10] well, maybe even a C plot, I guess,

[00:51:12] if we think about back to discovery, right?

[00:51:14] So wait, what's the A and B plot?

[00:51:16] I thought that. Oh, yeah, I know.

[00:51:18] I don't even know.

[00:51:20] Yeah, well, but we have the we have the ISS.

[00:51:22] We have we learn about the history of Malin, right?

[00:51:26] Right. That's too.

[00:51:27] We have some. Oh, OK.

[00:51:29] I kind of integrate that into the A plot because it's OK.

[00:51:32] You know, what's going on there?

[00:51:34] Yeah, they're in a half and then B.

[00:51:37] Yeah. I mean, there's a lot going on in this episode.

[00:51:39] I mean, yeah, it was

[00:51:47] I really enjoyed learning about the brain,

[00:51:49] like learning that he was that Locke is a brain.

[00:51:52] That was a shocker.

[00:51:53] I was like, I did not expect for him to be a brain.

[00:51:57] No. And I was very surprised and somewhat delighted

[00:52:01] that we've decided to kind of do that because they've been

[00:52:04] obviously very dropping.

[00:52:06] They've named name dropping the brain all season.

[00:52:08] So there's that payoff.

[00:52:12] I did get a little confused about the two faces thing

[00:52:15] because they were like, oh, every brain has two faces.

[00:52:17] I thought the helmet was actually one of their

[00:52:20] quote unquote faces because I don't think so.

[00:52:23] I think it's like the gelatin face.

[00:52:25] No, it's not. I mean, but I'm saying like when I was watching

[00:52:28] the episode, because literally we never see their face like

[00:52:32] either slimy or solid version or whatever.

[00:52:35] So I was like, oh, do they mean because I was like, oh,

[00:52:39] maybe they mean like you should the only face you ever see is a helmet

[00:52:42] is the metal face.

[00:52:44] Because that's that's the only thing anyone sees.

[00:52:47] And I thought maybe culturally, you're never supposed to get off.

[00:52:50] You know, it's like it's a banner Lorian.

[00:52:52] It's like, you know, this is your face, you know, this is your.

[00:52:54] Yeah, right? Yeah. Yeah.

[00:52:56] You know, it was never see it ever.

[00:52:58] So that's how I interpreted and it's like, oh, like

[00:53:00] so when he moved his like the helmet or whatever you deactivated.

[00:53:05] I was kind of confused by the oh, why is it kind of translucent?

[00:53:09] And then like whatever, it was a little confusing.

[00:53:12] It wasn't they didn't really like fully flush it out other than

[00:53:15] saying like you know, every brain has two faces.

[00:53:18] So I don't know.

[00:53:20] It was until I read like an interview or something.

[00:53:23] All right. The writer, they were like, oh, yeah,

[00:53:26] brains have this slimy face and the solid face.

[00:53:28] I was like, I don't feel that was very clear.

[00:53:30] Or they really like, you know, really elaborate on it.

[00:53:33] But OK, sure.

[00:53:35] Yeah, I mean, and technically you're kind of right,

[00:53:38] because really most people only see the helmeted face.

[00:53:41] Right. Very.

[00:53:42] Yeah, I think I just want to know how to find.

[00:53:44] Oh, make sense.

[00:53:45] So there's like, there's like three faces.

[00:53:48] There is the helmet, there is the translucent face,

[00:53:51] and then there's the solid face, which you lock in.

[00:53:55] And I liked it.

[00:53:57] I like the fact that because we didn't know that

[00:54:00] lock was green all this time.

[00:54:02] No, it's a project.

[00:54:04] Yeah, so.

[00:54:07] So yeah, I.

[00:54:10] Yeah, so I think that was that was probably the most interesting

[00:54:12] part of this episode for me.

[00:54:14] Yeah, you know, I thought the enterprise was fine.

[00:54:17] It was just kind of, you know, it was a set.

[00:54:19] It was a set.

[00:54:20] So it wasn't really just sit a little bit longer, whatever.

[00:54:23] Yeah, no.

[00:54:24] I mean, the history or universe shit from it.

[00:54:26] But yeah, yeah.

[00:54:28] Yeah, I've read somewhere or like heard another podcast

[00:54:30] talk about wondering if they tried to get someone from

[00:54:35] that that from changing your worlds.

[00:54:37] And they just I think even they were trying to figure that out,

[00:54:40] but it didn't work out.

[00:54:41] Didn't work out. Yeah.

[00:54:42] So, you know, it was fine.

[00:54:44] I think one of the best things I heard in another

[00:54:47] podcast was that it could have been any.

[00:54:49] It could.

[00:54:50] It didn't have to be the enterprise.

[00:54:51] Like you could still use the enterprise sets

[00:54:54] and it didn't have to be the enterprise.

[00:54:56] Yes, it could have been the the defiant.

[00:55:00] Could have been the defiant.

[00:55:01] You know, that it could have been cool.

[00:55:03] Then it then they could have thrown in like, oh, yeah,

[00:55:06] whole she took over the ship or something, you know,

[00:55:09] like that could have been cool.

[00:55:10] Like then you have those enterprise go backs,

[00:55:12] which discovery really likes.

[00:55:15] Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:55:17] That would have been, you know, tying it back to

[00:55:19] the whole era of darkly.

[00:55:22] Yeah. I mean, since you bring up enterprise,

[00:55:25] I do want to say like, I do feel like

[00:55:27] discovery is getting its footing this season and

[00:55:30] her enterprise, like they are getting

[00:55:32] they're getting last last season.

[00:55:34] Last season. Yeah.

[00:55:35] So we finally get here in season five

[00:55:38] and it's the last season.

[00:55:40] So I know goodbye forever.

[00:55:43] So anyway, that was, you know,

[00:55:45] that's probably not an uncommon

[00:55:49] thought these days.

[00:55:50] But anyway, so there's that

[00:55:53] you know, the book and

[00:55:56] mall thing trying to connect with her.

[00:55:58] I didn't like that none of that.

[00:56:02] This is so I think

[00:56:07] how I feel about book in this season is that

[00:56:09] I feel like they're sort of shoehorning him in

[00:56:12] and by having this connection to mall,

[00:56:14] they're like forcing that.

[00:56:16] And there I think it's really being forced a little too hard.

[00:56:20] Book in general. Yeah.

[00:56:21] Just book in general, like bring me back from

[00:56:24] this redemption.

[00:56:27] Peace, you know, which I get and I know that

[00:56:30] he's Michael's person

[00:56:33] and even though they're broken up or whatever.

[00:56:36] Oh, it doesn't know a thing from from face to

[00:56:39] strain, just like Michael and book, like having their moment.

[00:56:42] Oh, yeah.

[00:56:43] How about that moment?

[00:56:44] But I had some right residual effects in this episode.

[00:56:48] Yeah, I did.

[00:56:48] Yeah, she was she wanted to tell him about that,

[00:56:51] especially towards the end.

[00:56:53] She wanted to remember the good times that they had.

[00:56:56] She was like, it was nice.

[00:56:57] It was nice to be reminded of a simpler time.

[00:57:00] Yeah.

[00:57:01] Oh, but I feel like everything with book and mall is really like too forced.

[00:57:06] And, you know, like.

[00:57:08] I agree.

[00:57:10] Yeah, I agree.

[00:57:13] You know, yeah.

[00:57:15] So again, it's just, you know, one of those things about,

[00:57:19] you know, it's a character that people love

[00:57:21] and want to bring back to the show, which is totally fine and good.

[00:57:25] It's just forcing this relationship with mall.

[00:57:29] And then him like really trying, like thinking he can get through to her

[00:57:34] like that. I mean, you have one conversation with her

[00:57:37] and you realize that you're not going to get through to her.

[00:57:39] Like she is literally the most stubborn person in the entire universe.

[00:57:45] Literally.

[00:57:46] I don't know about that.

[00:57:47] I mean, I mean, she's been through trauma, like, you know, sure.

[00:57:51] I don't know.

[00:57:52] I don't know, literally, but metaphor.

[00:57:54] Well, I mean, sure, sure.

[00:57:57] But, you know, she, you know, she trusts no one wants no one.

[00:58:01] But she needs to go on this redemption arc.

[00:58:03] What we talked about this last time, there's only sharing art for her kind of,

[00:58:06] you know, a redemo villain, you know, like.

[00:58:11] I'm not.

[00:58:15] I yeah, no, I don't think so.

[00:58:17] Wait, wait, you think that she's not going to give you a dream?

[00:58:19] You're I don't think I don't know.

[00:58:23] I mean, I mean, it's books only family.

[00:58:27] Mike, she has to be redeemed.

[00:58:30] He can't have a tragedy. Come on.

[00:58:33] He's going to he's going to get back his sister.

[00:58:35] Like, come on, you know how this is like a break.

[00:58:39] Like really don't want to be the way I really don't come on.

[00:58:43] Give me a break. Of course. They're setting that up.

[00:58:46] I mean, they're setting it up.

[00:58:48] I mean, you don't have to like it.

[00:58:50] But oh, no, I'm not even convinced that they're going to do it based on.

[00:58:54] Yeah, I just I'm a little further ahead and I just don't believe that it's going to.

[00:59:00] I think I think all knock up or can be redeemed

[00:59:04] and then the brain in general at large are going to kind of be the end season threat.

[00:59:10] Like, I think that's what's going to happen.

[00:59:13] OK. So I mean.

[00:59:16] It would make sense.

[00:59:17] I think it makes sense for all the signposting that we're getting

[00:59:20] and all the foreshadowing, I think that makes sense.

[00:59:22] I doesn't mean that we have to like it, but I think.

[00:59:26] Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I don't know.

[00:59:28] I don't know. I'm not sure that I'm there with it.

[00:59:31] But all right, you want to put money on it?

[00:59:34] Witness or listeners can be witness.

[00:59:37] I'm not sure that well, anyway.

[00:59:39] Yeah. Yeah, we'll see what happens.

[00:59:43] Can't you know? Hard to say what's going to happen.

[00:59:46] How this is all going to play out or even what this progenitors.

[00:59:51] Device is going to do is it like, you know, that's the other thing.

[00:59:56] We have no idea what this device is going to do, if anything.

[01:00:02] So very convenient.

[01:00:04] That's aura like lost her memory or whatever.

[01:00:07] You can tell us more.

[01:00:09] Very convenient.

[01:00:12] Because you could have been like, they didn't ask.

[01:00:15] But if I was Michael, by the way, in in Face of Strange and there was

[01:00:20] Xora 30, I would just be like, what are the other puzzle pieces

[01:00:24] to tell us or where is the progenitor's device?

[01:00:26] You know, they didn't ask.

[01:00:28] They didn't. They didn't ask.

[01:00:29] They couldn't ask. No, they did not ask.

[01:00:31] They didn't ask because of the temporal prime directive.

[01:00:33] They can't.

[01:00:34] There was another prime directive thing.

[01:00:36] They couldn't ask her questions and that they wanted.

[01:00:40] They asked her like, what happened?

[01:00:42] They were like, what happened here?

[01:00:43] Like, you know, when they saw.

[01:00:44] Oh, and then she said she didn't remember anything.

[01:00:47] But they didn't even like probe.

[01:00:48] But then she remembered some stuff.

[01:00:50] She remembered like, oh, the brain, you know, got the weapon

[01:00:53] and like some bits and pieces, obviously.

[01:00:56] So I mean, I don't know, by the way,

[01:00:59] tell me about directive.

[01:01:00] Michael didn't really have too much an issue

[01:01:02] breaking the prime directive in like the next episode or whatever.

[01:01:05] It's like it would tell you.

[01:01:06] She didn't really break.

[01:01:07] Well, I mean, yes.

[01:01:08] What the fuck do you mean?

[01:01:10] Of course, she broke the she didn't even.

[01:01:11] She made that decision like that, like,

[01:01:13] fuck the prime directive, like any say, Tilly.

[01:01:15] I'm like, OK, that was very simple.

[01:01:18] You know what I mean?

[01:01:19] Like Michael's not one to follow the rules.

[01:01:21] We all know this.

[01:01:22] So I don't think the temporal prime directives

[01:01:24] are they going to stop Michael from any of his logic?

[01:01:27] I would the first thing I would have asked is,

[01:01:29] or do you have any idea what the other pieces are?

[01:01:32] You know, like I would have.

[01:01:33] I would just ask a question, like, especially if the federation

[01:01:38] that I hope future the federation is at stake

[01:01:39] and potentially the future of the galaxy.

[01:01:41] Come on, you know, I think that would obviously never.

[01:01:45] Whenever you're talking about like narrative stuff that you

[01:01:48] like would not, you know, it didn't wouldn't help.

[01:01:51] You know, like it's the plot is the plot.

[01:01:55] I'm just using.

[01:01:55] Yeah, I'm just saying I'm just saying like these are just like logic,

[01:02:00] like like small like logic gaps that I'm kind of like, you know,

[01:02:04] those things bug me like like, you know, plot holes, things like that.

[01:02:08] Like if you in that situation, like, you know, what would be

[01:02:10] some of the first questions you would ask or I forget how much time

[01:02:13] that they had, though, they didn't have a ton of time.

[01:02:15] They like no, no.

[01:02:16] But that's right.

[01:02:16] You know, you know, oh, you don't know.

[01:02:19] OK, cool.

[01:02:19] You know, yeah, yeah, sure.

[01:02:22] OK, download it in my combats.

[01:02:24] Give me your information, bitch.

[01:02:25] You know, whatever.

[01:02:27] OK.

[01:02:29] Anyway, oh, my word.

[01:02:33] But yeah, so it was OK.

[01:02:34] I mean, going back to mirrors.

[01:02:37] No, this is going back to mirrors.

[01:02:40] I like I liked it.

[01:02:41] I liked it.

[01:02:41] It wasn't as strong as face of strange, but I mean, there are parts of it.

[01:02:46] Like we didn't talk about like Rainer working with the crew.

[01:02:48] I feel they start to gel a little bit.

[01:02:50] And yeah, that was for me like the sea plot or whatever

[01:02:54] that actually was really, really good.

[01:02:56] Like I like felt like I started to know how to work with the crew.

[01:03:00] You know, right?

[01:03:01] And I'm like that moment share, which I thought was really cool.

[01:03:05] Like he didn't sit in the chair.

[01:03:06] Oh, he didn't?

[01:03:07] I don't know.

[01:03:08] And even they even talked about it later.

[01:03:10] He's like, you know, it's a captain's chair.

[01:03:13] Oh, so you know, whereas reset one point later,

[01:03:18] Riesel sit in the captain's chair.

[01:03:19] Oh yeah.

[01:03:20] Well, just anyone else will.

[01:03:21] Anyone else will.

[01:03:22] But.

[01:03:24] I liked OK, raise me hand.

[01:03:26] I like the moment when Rainer was like, he was just really stressed out

[01:03:31] and the Stamets was like, you told me this,

[01:03:34] but I'm going to tell you this.

[01:03:35] You're not in it alone.

[01:03:36] I was like, oh, that's so sweet.

[01:03:37] I really like that.

[01:03:38] Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[01:03:39] I like, you know, because yeah, I think Rainer,

[01:03:41] even though he has served with Michael for a very short time,

[01:03:44] he is very, very concerned about her for whatever reason.

[01:03:46] I'm like, OK, cool.

[01:03:48] But it was just like, you know, he was really legitimate.

[01:03:50] I mean, like stressed out about the whole situation.

[01:03:52] And he was like, we've got to do something.

[01:03:55] So I appreciate that side character moment between him and Stamets.

[01:04:01] You know, there's been a little bit of commentary

[01:04:03] about how like she got the message out

[01:04:05] like to him about what was happening or like the four one for whatever.

[01:04:11] I would have to say.

[01:04:14] Sure. Yeah, that's very.

[01:04:15] Oh, man. Like.

[01:04:18] Yeah. Yeah.

[01:04:19] Other than like if you I would have not made a connection

[01:04:23] with anything like other than like maybe SOS like more food.

[01:04:29] If you were to like, oh, some random numbers.

[01:04:31] I'm like, I don't know.

[01:04:33] The other part of this episode that I really didn't like is

[01:04:35] I mean, obviously it's just these in the next episode.

[01:04:38] But you know, how Maul and Locke get away in a torque

[01:04:42] in a torpedo or something like I thought it was a shuttle or something

[01:04:45] or a skate pod. And then they like went to war.

[01:04:49] They went to war. We got to try their warp signature.

[01:04:51] I'm like, why don't you go after them?

[01:04:53] Like. I don't understand.

[01:04:56] You have a ship they have like an escape pod or shuttle at most.

[01:05:00] Right. There's no way.

[01:05:01] They can that piece of it did not.

[01:05:04] No, it didn't make any sense.

[01:05:05] And then the next episode, they were like,

[01:05:08] anyone track down their warped in a truck?

[01:05:09] I'm like, OK, literally if you went after them,

[01:05:12] I like warped to you probably could have caught up to them.

[01:05:14] So I don't really get it.

[01:05:17] Yeah, that's one of those things that, you know.

[01:05:19] Yeah. Anyway, yeah, I didn't have their fancy like, oh,

[01:05:23] like, you know, like what they did in episode one, where they like shot.

[01:05:27] Yeah, they didn't have any.

[01:05:28] You know, 20 different directions.

[01:05:31] They didn't have that this time.

[01:05:32] So I don't get it.

[01:05:33] They didn't say, oh, they also master warps in a truck.

[01:05:36] At least say they master warps in a truck.

[01:05:38] It is.

[01:05:40] I'm like, at least master warps signature.

[01:05:42] Come on. One on one.

[01:05:45] Well, apparently they rigged a took some stuff from sick bait

[01:05:48] or a life support.

[01:05:49] So I don't ever.

[01:05:52] It was yeah, that was another.

[01:05:55] I mean, I guess, you know, three minutes is a lot longer

[01:05:57] in discovery universe, where they're about to crash through the portal

[01:06:00] and they were able to build a life pod and it goes.

[01:06:04] I don't know. Yeah, I don't know.

[01:06:06] I was confusing.

[01:06:07] Yeah. It was like a lot.

[01:06:09] And, you know, lock is dying.

[01:06:12] So because he's got a knife in his side.

[01:06:15] So yeah.

[01:06:21] So anyway, another plot hole, but that's fine.

[01:06:23] That's fine.

[01:06:24] Yeah, but you know, I do.

[01:06:26] Oh, the cool thing about this, I thought Michael's little trick

[01:06:30] about like the item for that distracted them.

[01:06:34] Like, oh, I was really confused, actually.

[01:06:37] I did not understand what was happening.

[01:06:40] Yeah, I didn't understand it at the time.

[01:06:41] I mean, even watching a second time, I was like, oh, she did that.

[01:06:45] No. Yeah, I knew she put like a piece of her like combat in

[01:06:48] because I rewind and rewound.

[01:06:50] And then yeah, I saw that she put her a piece of her combat

[01:06:54] into the locket and then they were like, oh, they're in sick.

[01:06:57] They there are three life signs.

[01:06:59] Right. They said they're three life signs.

[01:07:01] Yeah, they said three life signs.

[01:07:02] What was it? They're a life sign.

[01:07:03] I was wondering about that.

[01:07:05] Yeah, yeah, I don't know.

[01:07:06] And I thought it was the bio.

[01:07:07] I thought the bio was just like biological.

[01:07:10] I wonder if that was written.

[01:07:12] I wonder if that was written and there was supposed to be

[01:07:14] like a mirror universe person in there, but there wasn't.

[01:07:18] Yeah, I don't know.

[01:07:19] I think they might have missed that.

[01:07:21] It was really. Yeah, it was.

[01:07:23] Yeah, that didn't.

[01:07:24] Yeah, I was not following.

[01:07:26] I was yeah, that that didn't.

[01:07:28] Yeah, there are some definite little holes there.

[01:07:30] We so what was a locket like because you read up on it?

[01:07:34] Like what was it?

[01:07:35] Oh, no, I didn't read up on it.

[01:07:36] And no, I was just saying like, I thought it was a, you know,

[01:07:39] good diversion to try to distract them and get the real puzzle piece

[01:07:45] from what I'm going to say, like, oh, this is the actual piece versus.

[01:07:48] Yeah, she said something in there.

[01:07:49] Yeah, she's like, why do you think it's going to look like that?

[01:07:52] Or whatever. I don't know if they've even said it looks like one of the five pieces

[01:07:56] that fits into the discovery knows that I don't know that we're not sure

[01:08:00] that they lock mall and lock have ever seen like a full piece other than the one

[01:08:05] they had in.

[01:08:07] Mirrors.

[01:08:09] Like Janal was piece one, right?

[01:08:12] Or is that piece two?

[01:08:16] That might that might you are right.

[01:08:18] The mind and piece one.

[01:08:20] Yeah, so I don't, you know, I don't think that they knew.

[01:08:23] So it was enough of a distraction where it was a little confusing.

[01:08:26] It is. Yeah, well, I mean, there, yes.

[01:08:28] And obviously we pointed out the fact that there were three life forms

[01:08:31] when they're really only two.

[01:08:33] Yeah, I don't know. Oh, and by the way, like these puzzle pieces,

[01:08:37] they're kind of just like out in the open.

[01:08:39] I don't know every time they just like and they leave the room.

[01:08:42] I know they leave it just.

[01:08:43] No security. No security.

[01:08:45] Yeah, I know nothing.

[01:08:46] I'm like bothers me to bother me to literally just walk into that room

[01:08:51] and pick it up.

[01:08:52] And you know what?

[01:08:53] That's probably going to happen.

[01:08:55] It's probably going to happen.

[01:08:56] I'm sure it's going to happen.

[01:08:57] Absolutely.

[01:08:58] I'm going to steal it.

[01:08:59] And then they will probably get to the project or sex first

[01:09:03] somehow because we need tension.

[01:09:05] We need, you know, we need.

[01:09:08] So yeah, but they get they get the piece and

[01:09:11] or she gets the piece from block.

[01:09:14] He's damaged.

[01:09:14] And then they come back and say, oh, the ship's going into the portal.

[01:09:19] Yeah.

[01:09:19] And then they run off and that's it.

[01:09:21] But they have the piece anyway.

[01:09:24] They have it.

[01:09:24] Yeah, I don't have it with the water.

[01:09:27] There's a lot of pieces like sloppy, you know, yeah.

[01:09:32] And these things bother me because I'm very process oriented, as you know.

[01:09:36] And I need the cool calendar invite and also the Excel sheet.

[01:09:39] So I'm like, why are there no security measures?

[01:09:42] Why is this like not thought out?

[01:09:44] Like what's happening?

[01:09:45] What is this? What's that?

[01:09:46] You know, all the questions.

[01:09:49] Yeah.

[01:09:49] Now it should be in like a stasis field locked behind several doors and they go

[01:09:54] into our special room and put the piece in and be like sitting, sitting her

[01:09:59] ready room or an engineering.

[01:10:00] I'm like, there's no literally nobody here.

[01:10:03] Yeah, right?

[01:10:04] Yeah.

[01:10:04] Someone pops in and pops out and it's gone.

[01:10:06] But all right.

[01:10:08] Well, mirrors that was mirrors.

[01:10:11] And then we have our latest episode.

[01:10:13] It's just there this past week, a couple of days ago, whistle speak,

[01:10:18] where we go to the planet.

[01:10:20] Hello, no.

[01:10:22] And have a traditional Star Trek episode.

[01:10:27] The Prime Directive.

[01:10:28] We get some denobulin mentions.

[01:10:31] Name drops.

[01:10:33] We get a Tilly and Michael episode.

[01:10:35] So we've had.

[01:10:38] So we're in Michael.

[01:10:39] We've had book and Michael.

[01:10:40] And now we have Tilly and Michael.

[01:10:42] Right.

[01:10:42] Right.

[01:10:43] Did I miss one?

[01:10:45] Look.

[01:10:47] Oh, and we had a Michael and Rainer one.

[01:10:49] So.

[01:10:49] Oh yeah.

[01:10:50] Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[01:10:51] Yes.

[01:10:51] So they're all getting a turn.

[01:10:54] Yeah, everyone's getting a turn because Paramount's going broke

[01:10:58] and we need to basically just pair people up and you know.

[01:11:04] Yeah, I think, yeah, Sam needs to have some Michael time.

[01:11:08] I think at some point.

[01:11:08] Yeah.

[01:11:09] Yeah.

[01:11:10] Well is.

[01:11:11] Yeah.

[01:11:12] Is this the one where we get more information about his spiritual journey?

[01:11:17] Or is it?

[01:11:17] Yeah, this one.

[01:11:18] Colbert was his scrappling with.

[01:11:22] I mean, did we get a little bit in the last episode as well?

[01:11:25] Right.

[01:11:26] With a nice little scene with Tilly and him.

[01:11:29] Right.

[01:11:29] But this is the one where he's like talking to his wella.

[01:11:35] Yes, which I thought was really sweet.

[01:11:37] And then he talks to Paul about it as well.

[01:11:39] And then he, if they examine him and sick Bay and say it's going to be all right.

[01:11:44] And yes, they do.

[01:11:46] Yeah, we have not gotten enough of them together like this season at all.

[01:11:50] All right.

[01:11:51] This is like the first, you know, first time they're in sick Bay together

[01:11:54] going over his brain scans and whatnot.

[01:11:57] And yeah, it does.

[01:12:01] So I do.

[01:12:03] So speaking about this, I do sort of like the fact that, you know,

[01:12:07] in a good relationship, there is a balance of like things that one is good at

[01:12:13] and the other is good at.

[01:12:14] And I think that this is a good example of that as well as, you know,

[01:12:20] Stamets is very in touch with feelings and spiritual.

[01:12:23] And Paul is kind of like this evening.

[01:12:26] Colbert is in touch with.

[01:12:27] Sorry.

[01:12:28] Yeah.

[01:12:28] Colbert is sorry.

[01:12:29] Thank you.

[01:12:30] And Paul is just like scientists, you know, kind of woo-woo like woo-woo for a scientist.

[01:12:37] He's kind of like, not woo-woo.

[01:12:38] He's like in happy land all the time.

[01:12:40] He's like never grouch anymore.

[01:12:43] Although going back to the timeline episode is great to see him yell at the

[01:12:47] engineering's like, I'm in a bad mood.

[01:12:49] Like we're seeing that was cute.

[01:12:52] So we get some nice scenes with them.

[01:12:55] And yeah, you know, it just kind of, I think it reinforces the journey

[01:12:58] that Colbert is on and less so about the journey that falls on.

[01:13:05] Remember, in the first episode, it's all about what's his legacy now that the

[01:13:08] spore drive has kind of been derailed.

[01:13:12] So he's looking for a legacy and maybe the progenitors saying will be his legacy

[01:13:17] at some point.

[01:13:18] And yeah, I don't know.

[01:13:20] But I'm hoping this is me projecting to the end of the series, but I'm

[01:13:26] hoping that Colbert's story wraps up because Wilson Cruz wasn't able to go

[01:13:31] back and do reshoots when the cast did.

[01:13:34] Right.

[01:13:35] He was in Thailand, filming a movie and didn't go back.

[01:13:39] So there are no extra scenes with Colbert except the ones he filmed on the

[01:13:44] first run before they knew that the series was canceled.

[01:13:47] So that sucks.

[01:13:48] I had to say.

[01:13:50] Yeah, we kind of get like a full like crew shot with him at the end.

[01:13:54] Yeah, right?

[01:13:55] Yeah.

[01:13:55] You know, it's kind of a bummer.

[01:14:00] Although as everyone has said, like this feels very much like

[01:14:03] last season and a lot of talk about it last time.

[01:14:07] And just like, yeah, I know that it is that you have these moments that

[01:14:10] feel like it just, you know, so here's the thing.

[01:14:14] Like I yeah, I feel like.

[01:14:19] So there's this, there's always this thing about like how you said

[01:14:23] Mike McMahon kind of knew that it was coming.

[01:14:26] And I feel like Michelle Paradise is the showrunner and executive

[01:14:30] co-executive producer.

[01:14:31] I have a feeling that they know these things ahead of time.

[01:14:35] Like they probably knew and so to some or at least maybe suspected,

[01:14:39] really suspected and they're like, you know, we might want to start

[01:14:42] wrapping things up.

[01:14:43] Yeah, I feel like this case.

[01:14:46] There's just too many indications that this is the last season and it

[01:14:52] this was done way before the cast was even told that it was

[01:14:55] officially the last season.

[01:14:56] And I just think that, you know, I think I just have

[01:15:01] this feeling, this is my general thought.

[01:15:03] I mean, I'll never get confirmation of this, but I just think that

[01:15:07] this is the at least Michelle knew and maybe drove the

[01:15:13] writers to kind of in a way that kept that part a secret,

[01:15:18] but had them wrap up these storylines in a way that would be

[01:15:22] or maybe it was kind of like a, you know, situation where it was

[01:15:25] like, this might be a last season if we could know the one awesome,

[01:15:28] but we might want to start to kind of make it so that it feels like

[01:15:33] it's like a Babylon 5 situation or something like that, you know,

[01:15:38] where it's like, oh yeah, like we're going to wrap things up.

[01:15:42] But oh cool, another season.

[01:15:43] OK, we're going to start something.

[01:15:46] Yeah, that's funny that you said Babylon 5.

[01:15:48] That's totally it. Yes.

[01:15:49] Yes. Yeah.

[01:15:51] Oh, better wrap up this whole shadow or oh cool, another season.

[01:15:54] OK, well, there's some stuff we can like get back into the

[01:15:56] wall with, you know, like what we have to.

[01:15:59] So it's kind of like, you know, playing the seeds if they do get something.

[01:16:04] But if not, we have enough to say.

[01:16:07] Yeah. But this feels much more like it was the grand plan that things

[01:16:11] would be wrapped up in a way that. Sure.

[01:16:14] But we'll see, you know, so that's my worry about Culver

[01:16:17] and this whole piece about his spiritual journey.

[01:16:20] I hope that they do like resolve that.

[01:16:23] But hopefully it's not for naught.

[01:16:26] But we'll see.

[01:16:27] Well, I mean, I spoke to Jordan, he's never like.

[01:16:31] There's no.

[01:16:31] Never.

[01:16:32] There is. Yeah.

[01:16:34] No, that's true.

[01:16:35] It's not like there's an end point.

[01:16:36] But you know, but I think what does need to be addressed more fully

[01:16:41] because of the way this episode kind of flushed it out

[01:16:43] is that he and Paul need to have another touch base about it to kind of

[01:16:50] because right, you know, he kind of Paul was just like,

[01:16:52] oh, it's probably something we don't know about the brain.

[01:16:54] Right? Like, wow.

[01:16:56] And then Sam, it's sorry.

[01:16:58] Yeah. And then Culver talked to book and then book.

[01:17:01] Yeah. And was like, well, you know, like, you know, like,

[01:17:05] there are some things that we don't always share.

[01:17:06] I think that was we don't always share with other

[01:17:08] like some of the other spouses.

[01:17:09] That wasn't the reason I get what you're saying.

[01:17:12] It just yeah, the gist of it is like sometimes

[01:17:15] your your significant other doesn't understand everything.

[01:17:18] Yeah. And that's OK.

[01:17:20] That's OK. You know, that is what it is. So yeah.

[01:17:24] Yeah. So you're so individual, like, you know, like your own

[01:17:28] your own journey to like you have someone walking with you,

[01:17:31] but doesn't mean that, you know, you don't have your own thing going on.

[01:17:33] So yeah, that's totally true.

[01:17:36] 100 percent.

[01:17:37] So the other part of this episode, not Culver and Sam,

[01:17:41] its focus was this whole episode on the planet

[01:17:45] and and a sea plot with a deer on the bridge.

[01:17:49] So that was very sea.

[01:17:51] It was like, yeah, see, see minus.

[01:17:55] But yeah, I thought it was an enjoyable episode.

[01:17:58] They did talk about breaking the prime directive early on.

[01:18:01] They didn't because that woman was going to die.

[01:18:04] But fortunately, they had a way to save her from the dust

[01:18:07] that was not technology driven.

[01:18:10] So but I enjoyed this whole

[01:18:15] this whole run, you know, the sacrifice piece.

[01:18:19] I am watching it a second time.

[01:18:21] I obviously knew that.

[01:18:24] But I don't know that it was really super clear

[01:18:27] at the beginning or made throughout the episode.

[01:18:32] And even when the old woman was speaking to her about.

[01:18:35] Oh, no, no, we didn't know.

[01:18:37] I mean, there were like their hands that something's off.

[01:18:41] But you know, you know,

[01:18:43] like, why is it that trying to convince his daughter so hard?

[01:18:48] Like they don't need to run.

[01:18:52] Don't need to run. Yeah.

[01:18:54] So maybe he is the only one that knew that secret

[01:18:57] and or it was just a general.

[01:18:59] I mean, what's her face new?

[01:19:01] Oh, yeah, it's their friend.

[01:19:03] Yes, yes, they knew they knew.

[01:19:05] Yeah. Yeah.

[01:19:07] Yep. So yeah, I I thought like the you know,

[01:19:13] I always find it interesting when they give a little more

[01:19:18] a little more thought into the construction of an alien species or race.

[01:19:24] So the whole whistle speak kind of thing where they like,

[01:19:27] oh, they also communicate in a different way.

[01:19:30] They talk, but they also whistle.

[01:19:32] It's kind of cool.

[01:19:32] Like that's interesting, you know, just making them a little bit different.

[01:19:37] So I thought that was cool.

[01:19:40] Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't know.

[01:19:41] But yeah, no.

[01:19:44] Yeah, it just felt very star trekky.

[01:19:46] I mean, it felt like, you know, a problem.

[01:19:48] And then I liked that Michael taps out early and that tilly complete the race.

[01:19:53] And I thought the way that tilly completed the race was right on par with Tillies.

[01:19:58] You know, journey and being the teacher and the one who

[01:20:02] right, you know, helps this younger generation.

[01:20:07] Do things. So yeah, I thought it was a really outstanding

[01:20:12] like.

[01:20:14] That's the end of the episode, too.

[01:20:16] And a lot of other ways.

[01:20:17] Yeah, no, it's good.

[01:20:19] And so yeah.

[01:20:22] And fortunately, they saved tilly because tilly was the only one that knew

[01:20:25] that the actual clue was not in that tower, but in the fifth tower.

[01:20:31] Which she was the only one who knew that.

[01:20:33] So she didn't even communicate that over the comms to Michael before she died.

[01:20:39] I thought was kind of something.

[01:20:41] Yeah, but she didn't, you know, so I was like, wow, OK.

[01:20:48] Did you forget to mention this to someone in case you don't make it?

[01:20:53] I think it's again, one of those things like it's like a logic,

[01:20:56] you know, it's like a gap in logic, right?

[01:21:00] Like it's like how oh, the kid of Azora, she had any additional information.

[01:21:04] Like it's just like, oh, like there could have been other way for them to

[01:21:08] do this, but they go the long route of trying to figure this out.

[01:21:13] You know, whatever. That's fine.

[01:21:15] Yeah, you know, it's like we want to take the scenic route

[01:21:20] versus the actual logical logical way, which could be seen as a shortcut,

[01:21:25] but it's fine. Yeah, exactly.

[01:21:29] Exo.

[01:21:31] I agree with you.

[01:21:31] It's like kind of just like a more like classic, like first contact slash

[01:21:36] prime directive kind of situation and how involved do we get?

[01:21:40] And yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[01:21:42] So yeah.

[01:21:43] And really they only broke the prime directive with the dad.

[01:21:46] Like that was it.

[01:21:47] Like no one else knew was in the tower except for him.

[01:21:53] I don't know the consequences of breaking the prime directive

[01:21:58] one person versus the whole species.

[01:22:00] I mean, I don't know.

[01:22:01] Oh, yeah, true.

[01:22:04] Yeah, sounds like.

[01:22:06] Yeah, whatever.

[01:22:08] That's fine.

[01:22:09] But it was also kind of like.

[01:22:12] You have this giant monolith that obviously has technology

[01:22:18] and you did not build this, I guess the gods built it.

[01:22:21] It's also very much like mechanical.

[01:22:24] I don't know.

[01:22:24] It was like literally it's a lover that he like has to twist.

[01:22:28] You know, to actually like make the whole thing function

[01:22:33] and whatever.

[01:22:34] I'm like how you know how and why but.

[01:22:38] But yeah, I think that overall I would say that.

[01:22:44] Yeah, you know, I agree when it comes to this episode.

[01:22:48] I think, you know, overall, I think that it was fine.

[01:22:50] Like, yeah, I think it was like, yes, throwback to like a TNG

[01:22:55] slash Rick Berman kind of episode.

[01:22:58] We get the Tilly highlight.

[01:23:01] We get Michael again, spending time with someone from her crew,

[01:23:07] putting herself in danger.

[01:23:09] That's fine.

[01:23:11] Yeah, I don't think it like shown necessarily as much as.

[01:23:17] As face the strange or even mirrors, if I have to be honest.

[01:23:21] But at least we've moved the plot forward, which I guess is a good thing.

[01:23:27] So yeah, I think, yeah, just overall, overall, I would probably give it

[01:23:34] like it had to say like maybe like a like a B plus.

[01:23:39] Can definitely.

[01:23:40] So anyway, yeah, I mean, that's a good that's a good grade.

[01:23:44] Plus for B plus.

[01:23:46] Yeah.

[01:23:47] So anyway.

[01:23:49] And you know, this episode or at least last four episodes.

[01:23:52] No, out of these four.

[01:23:55] Any what is your favorite?

[01:23:56] The obviously face of strange.

[01:23:59] I think it was the most enthusiastic about one and probably the one

[01:24:03] that I was most down on was Janal.

[01:24:07] But I mean, I don't think it was bad.

[01:24:09] It was just like, this is fine.

[01:24:12] No, yeah, no, you're right.

[01:24:14] I'm trying to think if, yeah.

[01:24:17] I mean, I did enjoy the green part of mirrors.

[01:24:19] So that was kind of cool.

[01:24:20] Oh no, mirrors I thought was good too.

[01:24:22] I just think that, you know, the whole enter pricing was a little necessary.

[01:24:25] But I thought, oh, well, it was actually a good episode

[01:24:28] because of the green review on whatever.

[01:24:32] Yeah, I mean, yeah, it would have been nice to have a little bit more.

[01:24:36] I don't know.

[01:24:36] I don't know.

[01:24:36] You know, would have been actually would have been great to just

[01:24:39] have an episode about their journey.

[01:24:42] Who's joining?

[01:24:43] Mal and Locke's like, I mean, what's the whole thing about that?

[01:24:47] I mean, that was but like build it out a little bit more.

[01:24:50] You know, like, I think that's it.

[01:24:52] I don't think we'll get more.

[01:24:53] No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

[01:24:55] Like it would have been great to like have an episode where you see

[01:24:58] the whole story of Maul like in different points

[01:25:01] and then she meets Locke and like what that like.

[01:25:05] Nothing gets out.

[01:25:06] Oh, no, no, no, no, no.

[01:25:08] I'm saying, you know, anyway, instead we got mirrors.

[01:25:11] Also, I'm not sure I'm not that curious.

[01:25:12] I'm like, I get it.

[01:25:13] She's a courier.

[01:25:15] Like she had some trauma.

[01:25:16] She lost her mother and father.

[01:25:19] We got that information and she probably has like a.

[01:25:23] Yeah, but you know, you know how so she all right.

[01:25:26] So we've we've complained about this in the past.

[01:25:28] This is sort of the same thing where, you know, you get little

[01:25:31] details about the bridge crew and these like short explanatory

[01:25:36] like things and that's what I feel like this sort of was in

[01:25:40] some ways was there was a lot of explanatory things when you

[01:25:44] could build a story around it maybe and do it.

[01:25:48] But again, we have 10 episodes.

[01:25:51] We have 10 episodes and yeah, that's not if we had even 15.

[01:25:57] Maybe you could build it out differently.

[01:25:59] Sure. Yeah, I agree.

[01:26:01] I think the episode, the, you know, the fact that we

[01:26:03] have so many to work with.

[01:26:05] And I think historically discovery has not always been

[01:26:08] the best at showing that telling.

[01:26:10] You know, I think we're just told so.

[01:26:14] Yeah, you know, no, for sure.

[01:26:16] It's yeah, it's one of the areas where we can we can probably

[01:26:21] go at length about that, but it's fine.

[01:26:23] Yeah, it'll have to.

[01:26:25] All right. Well, there we did.

[01:26:28] We just covered 40% of the season in one episode.

[01:26:33] I know.

[01:26:35] We've only got four episodes left of Discovery.

[01:26:39] I know only one more month and then we're done with discovery.

[01:26:43] We're done and yeah, we wait for the final season of

[01:26:48] Lord X. Oh my God.

[01:26:51] And then then we'll have to wait till 2025 for probably a new trick.

[01:26:58] God. Oh no, we have prodigy, which we have.

[01:27:01] Oh, that's right. I was like, wait, I was like.

[01:27:04] There should be prodigy coming out at some point.

[01:27:06] We just don't know.

[01:27:07] Yeah, at some point, Netflix has not given any indication

[01:27:11] as to when that's going to happen.

[01:27:12] But yeah, no, some point.

[01:27:16] So anyway, OK, all right.

[01:27:18] Well, there we go.

[01:27:20] Well, Mike, do you want to talk a little bit about our sponsor?

[01:27:23] Sure. Sure.

[01:27:25] Fansets is the presenting sponsor of the Trekkeeks podcast network

[01:27:32] and supports Deep Stage Pride as well.

[01:27:35] So we want to give a shout out to them and head on over to fansets.com.

[01:27:40] There's a bunch of new pins, so I haven't been on here in a little while,

[01:27:45] but there are now this is a throwback Star Trek for

[01:27:51] Research Gillian Badge, I guess, from the end of the voyage home

[01:27:58] before she heads out onto her scientific vessel.

[01:28:02] There's a. Oh, interesting.

[01:28:05] Yeah, it's a very.

[01:28:06] Gillian Taylor. Yeah.

[01:28:08] Very. OK, one.

[01:28:11] Yeah, it's a huge throwback.

[01:28:14] I love the actress that plays her.

[01:28:15] She was on 7th Heaven.

[01:28:18] Oh, yes, it's right.

[01:28:19] She played the mom at 7th Heaven.

[01:28:21] I remember that.

[01:28:23] There's also the Star Trek autograph pin with David Ajalla.

[01:28:27] And even Booker and the grudges on there with them.

[01:28:34] We've got the new command deltas from Discovery

[01:28:38] and a whole bunch more.

[01:28:40] So head on over to fansets.com, put a bunch of pins into your basket.

[01:28:45] And if you use the code Trekkeeks at checkout,

[01:28:48] you're going to get 10 percent off your order.

[01:28:50] And if you spend more than $30, you're going to get free shipping in the US.

[01:28:53] And we want to thank fansets for being

[01:28:56] sponsored by DJ Sprite and the Trekkeeks podcast network.

[01:29:00] Thanks, fansets.

[01:29:02] All right.

[01:29:03] Well, if you want to reach us via social media or email

[01:29:07] or you have any questions or comments, we'd love to hear from you.

[01:29:10] You can reach it to us via social on Instagram and Twitter X.

[01:29:18] I'm like, what do we call it now?

[01:29:19] I always forget.

[01:29:20] I don't even know, because I haven't been on either platform and I love it.

[01:29:26] So it's funny.

[01:29:28] A lot of Instagram.

[01:29:29] What are you talking about?

[01:29:31] No, no, on Twitter.

[01:29:32] Oh, turn.

[01:29:33] And I someone who I know, they like they call

[01:29:37] they call it Twitter on purpose because they and they use the term

[01:29:41] their dead naming Twitter.

[01:29:43] So that's really funny.

[01:29:45] So my gosh, anything to

[01:29:50] put a stick it to the man who owns that platform.

[01:29:56] Oh, Elon. Yeah, I'm sure that he cares.

[01:29:58] Oh, yeah, no, no.

[01:29:59] I'm sure he cares.

[01:30:01] No, I have not been on that platform in quite some time.

[01:30:05] So I have no idea.

[01:30:06] Hopefully, you know, hopefully people reach us,

[01:30:09] reach us on Instagram because that's really all I check these days.

[01:30:13] Well, you know, Elon Musk is enshrined in discovery

[01:30:17] because he gets a call out in episode in season one.

[01:30:20] Yeah. So, you know, wait, what?

[01:30:24] What did the workers say?

[01:30:25] Like, don't you want to be a member like the Wright brothers?

[01:30:28] Elon Musk? I'm like, what the fuck?

[01:30:31] I'm like, why?

[01:30:32] Yeah. Well, that was before he went.

[01:30:34] That was before or whatever.

[01:30:35] But that's why that's why, you know, like when we like

[01:30:38] try to incorporate the contemporary shit into,

[01:30:42] you know, like Star Trek or on any.

[01:30:44] Also, any sci-fi it's always like a little I don't know.

[01:30:47] In any case, never know.

[01:30:49] It's going to age.

[01:30:51] No, no, no.

[01:30:52] But anyway, yes, you can reach us on Twitter,

[01:30:55] such acts maybe and Instagram at D space pride.

[01:30:59] And you can also email us at D space pride at Gmail dot com.

[01:31:05] There you go. There we go.

[01:31:08] All right. Four more episodes of discovery to go.

[01:31:11] I don't know when we're going to get to core, but that's fine.

[01:31:14] I don't know when we're going to find time.

[01:31:16] I'm going on vacation.

[01:31:20] Yeah, well, I'm seeing my mom next weekend for Mother's Day.

[01:31:23] That's very. Oh, there we go.

[01:31:25] So yeah, we may just be back for the end of discovery.

[01:31:30] Oh, my God.

[01:31:32] End of the show. All right.

[01:31:34] Well, here we are.

[01:31:36] Maybe by then, Paramount will have a new CEO

[01:31:40] and have some sort of leadership.

[01:31:42] Oh, OK. It's unlikely.

[01:31:44] It's not God willing.

[01:31:46] No one's getting their hopes up about that.

[01:31:48] I'm not holding my breath.

[01:31:49] I think, you know, not at all.

[01:31:51] No. But anyway, yeah,

[01:31:55] we'll look forward to talking more discovery next time.

[01:32:00] Yeah. Cool.

[01:32:02] Thanks, everyone. All right.

[01:32:04] Thanks. Bye.

[01:32:05] Bye.
