[00:00:30] Hey, I'm Sabrina Wood and welcome to the SyFy Sistas Podcast where we give you our point of view. I'm joined today by my sisters, Yvette Blackman-Tom. Hello. And Fran T. What's happening? And we're just missing our sister Tamia, but you know, she'll be back on our next show. So today we have a really exciting guest. We have been blessed by CBS and Paramount Plus with another fantastic interview.

[00:00:59] And this person is one of our favorite, my favorite, lower deck characters. We are talking about none other than Gabrielle Ruiz, who plays...

[00:01:11] The Lynn. The Lynn. The Lynn. The Lynn. The Lynn. A Vulcan. The Lynn. Sabrina likes a Vulcan. Yeah. Sabrina does. Sabrina likes this Vulcan. Yeah. And an animated Vulcan at best.

[00:01:26] Because... That says a lot.

[00:01:29] I have truly gotten over my animation thing. I just got that, Fran. I know. Fran is never gonna let me get over...

[00:01:36] Your animation version. You know, you know, I'm trying to say okay to Vulcan. I'm trying to say okay to animation. And you know, I'm here for it. I'm here for all of it. And this woman is the one who did it.

[00:01:49] Yeah. She's good. She does a really good job. She is... I know we were like, when we did our last interview, I was like, somebody's missing.

[00:01:58] And I was really happy to see all four of them. I was like, hmm. So, you know, and then when we got the call that we were gonna get to interview her alone, I was really, really happy.

[00:02:09] Because we've been trying to put that together for a minute. And then, you know, sometimes they can't if the show was getting ready to come out. So, this was great. This was a nice little gift.

[00:02:20] And she's so versatile. She talks about... We talk about... We have the conversation about her career and how versatile it is. How...

[00:02:29] Yeah, yeah.

[00:02:30] It's great. It's just great.

[00:02:31] Yeah.

[00:02:32] She's inspirational that way. I think that was one of the things that really just struck me about her. It's just... I mean, deep. Not just, you know, she can sing a little.

[00:02:43] She can act a little. She can do... You know, she is stellar in every single thing she does. And, you know, mentoring people in these things now. So, without a doubt, one of my new favorite people in the whole world.

[00:02:56] I mean, I just love her. I just love her. I'm so glad she came to join us.

[00:03:00] Yes, yes. So, let's listen.

[00:03:02] Hi, everyone. We are here with one of our favorite, favorite people from Lower Deck, from anywhere. From anywhere.

[00:03:09] All right. We met her at Trek Long Island, where we met and fell in love with her. Then we got to hang out with her at Trek... At Star Trek Las Vegas. I'm so excited I can't even talk.

[00:03:21] And Gabrielle Reese is a philanthropist. She is an activist. She is an actress. She is... She is like all that. Champion of the arts, which is where you won my heart.

[00:03:32] She's currently offering one-on-one client coachings to high school and performing arts students.

[00:03:38] And she is a professional... Her specialty is college admissions and audition preparation, which we're going to get into that a little bit more.

[00:03:48] But you know her as Taylin on Lower Deck and maybe even as Valencia Perez as a crazy ex-girlfriend where you got rave reviews.

[00:03:58] So, a lot of people remember that. So, anyway, our best friend... I'm claiming it. Is here today. Hey, Gabrielle. How are you?

[00:04:08] Hi, science besties.

[00:04:13] It's so good to see you.

[00:04:14] It is.

[00:04:15] Oh, I'm thrilled to be here. We've been... This feels long overdue. We've been trying to get together.

[00:04:19] And I'm so glad this is just the launch of conversations for the next and last season of Star Trek and getting to know me a little bit more.

[00:04:29] So, thanks for having me.

[00:04:31] Oh, man.

[00:04:31] Yeah, definitely.

[00:04:32] Absolutely.

[00:04:33] You said yes, yes, yes. There were four yeses on this.

[00:04:35] Yes, yes, yes.

[00:04:38] So, I want to just... We got a lot of questions. So, I'm going to kick it over to Yvette.

[00:04:51] The interviews last week when all four of the cast were there. I was like, where's Gabrielle? What the hell?

[00:04:57] So, one of the questions I had for them, which was really fun, was you have this character.

[00:05:05] What... Did you come in with like a backstory for your character?

[00:05:10] For Talyn.

[00:05:11] For Talyn.

[00:05:12] I definitely had experience with my audition process for Lower Decks. I got to get to know what Mike wanted and when it came to speed and style and also respect for the world, I mean, the universe of Star Trek.

[00:05:28] And when Talyn came through as an audition, they did give us some reference points of T'Pol specifically and a scene with her and her mother on planet Vulcan.

[00:05:40] And it's very passive-aggressive.

[00:05:42] And they're just giving each other so much sass. I feel like she brings someone home in this scene and there's just all Vulcan shade.

[00:05:53] Yes, it's complete Vulcan shade.

[00:05:55] You know how I feel about Vulcans.

[00:05:59] So, a lot of voiceover auditioning, for me at least, is literally taking a stab into the universe, launching it out there and see if it comes back.

[00:06:11] And it's kind of freeing in a sense because you really just trust your instinct.

[00:06:15] I mean, this is so Talyn.

[00:06:17] You trust your gut and you let go.

[00:06:20] You just let go and see what happens.

[00:06:22] Sometimes some actors don't like that, but I love it because I don't have to think more than twice about an audition and I get to move on and feel like I made a bold move, a bold choice.

[00:06:32] I boldly went where I'd never gone before.

[00:06:37] And listen, that's like this, you know, full disclosure, we as actors audition 100 times a week.

[00:06:44] So, when one comes back, it's really, really awesome and it feels really good.

[00:06:48] But am I lucky that it's Star Trek and Talyn with Gabrielle Ruiz in Star Trek font?

[00:06:54] Absolutely.

[00:06:55] Absolutely, yeah.

[00:06:56] So, I took that reference and then I also decided to reference Captain Freeman and Mariner's relationship.

[00:07:06] I didn't know that Captain Sokol was her captain for Talyn, which was the scene that they gave me, the fight.

[00:07:12] I mean, the disagreement.

[00:07:14] And I decided I made Captain Sokol her father.

[00:07:21] That's how I decided to compare it.

[00:07:23] It's like, I feel like Talyn can be a Vulcan version of Mariner.

[00:07:26] Yes.

[00:07:29] And that was my guess.

[00:07:31] You know, you just kind of have to roll with a really bold decision as an actor for these kind of auditions.

[00:07:37] And luckily, I was right in a sense that it worked out.

[00:07:40] The out of control Vulcan.

[00:07:42] I love it.

[00:07:42] Also, it's kind of like a what.

[00:07:45] It's also like, what would Jesus do?

[00:07:47] It's what would Leonard Nimoy say?

[00:07:49] How would he say it?

[00:07:51] There you go.

[00:07:52] There you go.

[00:07:52] There you go.

[00:07:53] It's true.

[00:07:54] So, these are all my acting tips for other actors that want to be a Vulcan.

[00:07:59] And you just think of Leonard Nimoy.

[00:08:00] How would he say it?

[00:08:01] And then I just repeat it.

[00:08:03] Yeah.

[00:08:04] That's it.

[00:08:04] I think Ethan Peck kind of did the same thing when he first got it.

[00:08:08] Sensors.

[00:08:10] Sensors.

[00:08:10] Sensors.

[00:08:11] Sensors.

[00:08:17] Sensors.

[00:08:18] They did have to tell me to tone it back a little bit.

[00:08:20] They were like, can you say a little less ors?

[00:08:22] I was like, sure.

[00:08:23] Sure.

[00:08:25] Whatever you need.

[00:08:26] Whatever you need.

[00:08:29] Fran, you have a question?

[00:08:31] Yes.

[00:08:32] I see, you know, from your background, Sabrina Benton.

[00:08:36] We know you from everywhere.

[00:08:39] I am from everywhere.

[00:08:40] Yes.

[00:08:41] You've been on stage, singing and doing stuff on Broadway and all that.

[00:08:46] You do the voiceover work.

[00:08:48] You were on the crazy ex-girlfriend.

[00:08:53] Yes.

[00:08:54] Tell me.

[00:08:55] Do you have a favorite among those?

[00:08:59] Do you see them all about the same?

[00:09:04] A child.

[00:09:05] Is there really a favorite?

[00:09:06] Say.

[00:09:07] So you can't ask the person if they have a favorite child.

[00:09:10] Sometimes we do.

[00:09:12] Yes, sometimes we do.

[00:09:14] But!

[00:09:16] Yes.

[00:09:17] Somebody's agreeing with me over there, but we can't say it.

[00:09:20] But is there a favorite for you?

[00:09:23] Or let us know.

[00:09:25] I mean, I feel like it's subjective and it's always ebbing and flowing on change, but I

[00:09:30] love voiceover work.

[00:09:32] I really do.

[00:09:33] Really?

[00:09:33] I really do.

[00:09:35] And I love that I have the badge of honor of Broadway on my lapel, but I don't miss it

[00:09:41] one bit, ladies.

[00:09:42] Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh.

[00:09:45] Let me tell you why.

[00:09:46] Okay.

[00:09:46] In one sentence, let me tell you why.

[00:09:48] Because Broadway is hard.

[00:09:50] It is so hard.

[00:09:51] It's eight shows a week.

[00:09:53] Get your legs broken.

[00:09:55] Get your butt back on stage.

[00:09:56] There's no free food like TV gives you free food all the time.

[00:10:01] That's an out for me right there.

[00:10:03] I didn't even know.

[00:10:04] I've never heard anybody say that.

[00:10:06] There's no free food.

[00:10:07] There's no free food.

[00:10:07] And no, I remember being on set for the first time.

[00:10:09] I was like, there's food everywhere.

[00:10:11] Like, what is this?

[00:10:12] Am I in the chocolate factory?

[00:10:15] Am I in Willy Wonka?

[00:10:16] Like, what's happening?

[00:10:17] And I mentioned to somebody I had a headache.

[00:10:19] And a medic was like right next to me.

[00:10:21] He's like, do you need Motrin?

[00:10:22] I was like, yes.

[00:10:24] I think I do.

[00:10:25] Thank you.

[00:10:25] Like, no.

[00:10:26] I love Broadway.

[00:10:28] It is so difficult.

[00:10:29] It's so hard.

[00:10:30] It's eight shows a week.

[00:10:32] Monday's your only day off.

[00:10:33] And I was fatigued at the point at 10 years that I loved and embraced the change of television.

[00:10:38] And then voiceover, it's such a different collaboration because you see Talyn with her actions that I don't create.

[00:10:48] I get to create the voice that inspires those actions that you see on screen.

[00:10:53] So I get to be surprised in a very different way that I'm loving.

[00:10:57] That's cool.

[00:10:57] Talyn is a fool.

[00:10:59] She is just making me like Vulcans again.

[00:11:04] You know, she's fucking.

[00:11:05] Well, Sabrina does not like Vulcans at all.

[00:11:08] She's not a Vulcans.

[00:11:09] It's not that I don't like Vulcans.

[00:11:11] It's just you can't trust them and you can't kill them.

[00:11:14] But it's true.

[00:11:16] We're going to do a whole show on that.

[00:11:18] They are one step away from Romulans.

[00:11:20] And I mean just a half a step.

[00:11:22] We're just.

[00:11:23] I would say we're pretty sophisticated.

[00:11:25] So don't mean nothing.

[00:11:27] And very stuff.

[00:11:28] And very, very snobby, which I love.

[00:11:31] We're such snobs.

[00:11:32] I love it.

[00:11:33] Yeah, they are snobs.

[00:11:34] They are.

[00:11:35] See, well, now, you know, we only had Spock and we all thought Spock was the main thing.

[00:11:39] But he's they kicked him out.

[00:11:40] So, you know, we can't go by that.

[00:11:42] So.

[00:11:44] Well, Talyn got kicked out in a sense, too.

[00:11:46] She did.

[00:11:47] She really did.

[00:11:48] Right.

[00:11:48] So that's why, you know, you're right up there with me.

[00:11:50] OK.

[00:11:50] She turned your back for a minute.

[00:11:53] So anyway, I'm going to ask the question.

[00:11:56] And Tupac.

[00:11:56] Like I said.

[00:11:57] Yeah.

[00:11:58] Exactly.

[00:11:58] One more thing.

[00:11:58] And Tupac was gone from them for seven years.

[00:12:01] And didn't seem to miss it.

[00:12:03] And didn't.

[00:12:05] OK.

[00:12:05] Anyway.

[00:12:06] Anyway.

[00:12:07] That's a whole nother podcast.

[00:12:08] That's a whole nother show.

[00:12:10] OK.

[00:12:11] But I wanted to ask you more about what really made me perk up when I read your bio and everything

[00:12:17] else.

[00:12:18] And that is, you know, I'm one of the board members of STEAM superheroes and we are really

[00:12:22] STEAM.

[00:12:22] So we've got that A in there for arts.

[00:12:25] And I'm an art history major.

[00:12:27] And I love that you're an advocate of arts education.

[00:12:30] And do you think if we could ever get this emphasis with STEAM instead of STEM, we would

[00:12:37] ever see arts coming back into the public school system like a regular thing, like all

[00:12:41] kids get art education?

[00:12:44] Absolutely.

[00:12:44] I hope so.

[00:12:45] That's why we're advocates for it.

[00:12:46] I mean, I've spoken on Capitol Hill and I've been a speaker and I also offer so many talk

[00:12:54] backs wherever I can.

[00:12:55] The minute I was out of South Texas, understanding that I could get a paycheck for performing,

[00:13:01] I had to shout it on the rooftops.

[00:13:04] Because there's kids that I don't know if it's different today with having the world available

[00:13:10] at the palm of your hand.

[00:13:11] Unlike me, I didn't have YouTube in high school or middle school when I didn't understand that

[00:13:16] I didn't just have to go to New York or have to go to Juilliard.

[00:13:21] No shade to Juilliard, but as prestigious as it is.

[00:13:24] But the movies told me that's the only option I had to achieve.

[00:13:28] But there's so much out there to grow your craft, to then consider it as a professional

[00:13:35] entity.

[00:13:36] You are, as performers, it's my job to share with kids that you can be the CEO of your own

[00:13:41] business.

[00:13:42] How exciting is that?

[00:13:44] You know?

[00:13:45] And it's not just, my mentor said, what we do is show business, not show begging.

[00:13:51] And we, right?

[00:13:53] And we have the power to make a company of ourselves, to be able to have the power to finance ourselves

[00:14:00] and finance others, bring others to the table, especially for the diversity, you know, angles

[00:14:05] of the group.

[00:14:06] Oh, you talk to us.

[00:14:08] Yeah.

[00:14:08] And I fully believe that the more we speak out loud and the more we present it, composition,

[00:14:16] like for example, music, to compose a song, to write music, you need math.

[00:14:22] Yes.

[00:14:23] You need math to be a writer.

[00:14:26] You need English.

[00:14:27] Like they come hand in hand and to be able to make kids not only expressive or passionate,

[00:14:34] but compassionate.

[00:14:35] That are, I think VR says that every single time, every single time, no matter, no matter

[00:14:41] what's happening at home, you know, you have that outlet, you have that alpha and you have

[00:14:46] that power.

[00:14:47] Right.

[00:14:47] Right.

[00:14:47] I love that.

[00:14:48] I love that.

[00:14:50] So I'm, I understand the passion.

[00:14:52] Yeah.

[00:14:52] Yeah.

[00:14:53] Yeah.

[00:14:53] Yeah.

[00:14:54] I remember back in the 1900s when I was in elementary school.

[00:15:00] That's all of us.

[00:15:01] There's no line in that statement.

[00:15:02] All of us.

[00:15:03] Not one line.

[00:15:04] The 1900s.

[00:15:06] And the music teacher came into the classroom.

[00:15:10] Yep.

[00:15:10] The art teacher came into the classroom.

[00:15:13] Mm-hmm.

[00:15:13] Every week, once a week, they came into the classroom.

[00:15:17] And that was one of my favorite types of, you know.

[00:15:22] Yep.

[00:15:22] In school.

[00:15:23] Yep.

[00:15:23] Because, you know, Miss Kyle was coming.

[00:15:25] Miss Banks was coming.

[00:15:26] Oh, look, you still remember their names.

[00:15:28] Yep.

[00:15:28] Wow.

[00:15:29] I remember their names.

[00:15:31] Yeah.

[00:15:31] You know.

[00:15:32] It's a huge impact.

[00:15:32] The music.

[00:15:34] You know, it was great.

[00:15:35] It was great.

[00:15:36] And they taught us so much.

[00:15:39] Because that was my outlet.

[00:15:40] Because they used to tell me I talk too much.

[00:15:42] Imagine that.

[00:15:44] Mm-hmm.

[00:15:44] You know.

[00:15:45] But when.

[00:15:46] But I shined when we had the music.

[00:15:48] And the art.

[00:15:49] Yeah.

[00:15:50] Not much the art.

[00:15:50] But the music.

[00:15:51] And the stuff where we had to get up on stage.

[00:15:54] And I was so good at that.

[00:15:56] Mm-hmm.

[00:15:57] It was an outlet.

[00:15:58] So.

[00:15:59] Yeah.

[00:15:59] I definitely believe.

[00:16:01] Yeah.

[00:16:01] I definitely believe it should be funded.

[00:16:03] It should be budgeted.

[00:16:03] And at every.

[00:16:04] At any cost.

[00:16:05] For sure.

[00:16:06] Mm-hmm.

[00:16:07] Mm-hmm.

[00:16:07] Absolutely.

[00:16:08] I know we're not.

[00:16:09] We got a little short on time.

[00:16:11] But I wanted to talk.

[00:16:12] I wanted to bring up your.

[00:16:14] What you're doing with kids.

[00:16:15] High school kids.

[00:16:16] I would like people to know.

[00:16:17] Thank you for asking.

[00:16:18] Exactly what you're doing with that.

[00:16:20] Before we get.

[00:16:21] Before we lose all our time.

[00:16:23] Yeah.

[00:16:24] My elevator pitch.

[00:16:25] You ready?

[00:16:25] Yeah.

[00:16:25] So.

[00:16:27] I have.

[00:16:29] Had the blessing.

[00:16:31] That someone asked me to help them with.

[00:16:34] Coaching their career.

[00:16:35] So I'm a career coach.

[00:16:36] I have clients as young as 13.

[00:16:40] That want to go pro.

[00:16:41] Or they want to discover.

[00:16:42] If they want to go to college.

[00:16:42] For performing arts.

[00:16:44] And I help them.

[00:16:46] On the business side.

[00:16:47] And the show side.

[00:16:48] Of this.

[00:16:49] Crazy industry.

[00:16:51] That is always changing.

[00:16:53] Always flowing.

[00:16:53] And I teach them.

[00:16:55] To get organized.

[00:16:57] Change their attitude.

[00:16:58] About it.

[00:16:59] Get out of their ruts.

[00:17:00] And if they're under 16.

[00:17:01] I also coach their parents.

[00:17:02] I feel a little bit like Cesar Milan.

[00:17:04] You know what I mean?

[00:17:04] Where I'm just like.

[00:17:06] Not that they're.

[00:17:06] Right.

[00:17:07] Not that the kid's an issue.

[00:17:09] But it's just like.

[00:17:09] I have to also coach the parent.

[00:17:11] I get that.

[00:17:11] Yeah.

[00:17:12] Oh my gosh.

[00:17:12] Please help me.

[00:17:13] This kid wants to do this.

[00:17:14] And they're so talented.

[00:17:15] What do I do?

[00:17:16] That's super fun.

[00:17:17] To coach two people at the same time.

[00:17:19] And then.

[00:17:20] I feel like.

[00:17:22] I am the version of like.

[00:17:24] Someone hiring their kid.

[00:17:25] For essay.

[00:17:27] SAT coaching.

[00:17:28] To get into college.

[00:17:29] To feel like.

[00:17:30] They're.

[00:17:31] Have.

[00:17:31] Not necessarily just a boost.

[00:17:33] But just feel the most prepared as possible.

[00:17:34] I do that specifically for performing arts degree auditions.

[00:17:39] So all those middle schoolers and high schoolers that are very serious.

[00:17:43] And maybe feel like they're the only serious kid in their group.

[00:17:47] And.

[00:17:48] They don't have.

[00:17:49] That one person.

[00:17:51] And that parent.

[00:17:52] Can have that one person.

[00:17:53] To lead.

[00:17:53] To help them lead the way.

[00:17:55] Into getting.

[00:17:56] As best.

[00:17:56] As many options as possible.

[00:17:58] Because again.

[00:17:59] It doesn't have.

[00:18:00] I mean.

[00:18:00] No offense to NYU or Juilliard.

[00:18:02] Because that's where Broadway is.

[00:18:03] Or that's where Hollywood is.

[00:18:05] And whatever.

[00:18:05] But like.

[00:18:06] I went to school.

[00:18:07] At Oklahoma City University.

[00:18:08] And got a wonderful dance performance degree.

[00:18:10] And now.

[00:18:11] I'm a voiceover actor.

[00:18:12] Like I'm.

[00:18:12] I'm not dancing on lower decks.

[00:18:14] Not yet.

[00:18:17] It's wonderful that you can learn to evolve.

[00:18:19] And I'm an example of that.

[00:18:21] It doesn't have to be just that.

[00:18:23] And how to apply.

[00:18:24] How to submit.

[00:18:25] How to audition.

[00:18:26] All those things.

[00:18:27] It's.

[00:18:27] It can be overwhelming for.

[00:18:29] It really can.

[00:18:30] Yeah.

[00:18:30] The parent and the kid.

[00:18:32] And I love.

[00:18:33] I love coaching that.

[00:18:35] I love that.

[00:18:36] Yeah.

[00:18:37] I love that you do it with the parents.

[00:18:38] It's so neat.

[00:18:39] It's so important.

[00:18:40] Yeah.

[00:18:41] It's really important.

[00:18:42] I've been there.

[00:18:43] Where you're trying to get your kid into this specific field.

[00:18:46] And I'm like.

[00:18:47] What am I doing?

[00:18:48] What am I doing?

[00:18:49] You know.

[00:18:50] But I just know.

[00:18:51] I just know that people hire counselors for.

[00:18:54] I mean.

[00:18:54] Harvard.

[00:18:55] You know.

[00:18:55] How to write that essay.

[00:18:56] Or how to.

[00:18:57] You know.

[00:18:58] Tennis.

[00:18:58] Per se.

[00:18:59] Or anything like that.

[00:19:00] That is available.

[00:19:02] For the performing arts as well.

[00:19:03] I love that.

[00:19:04] I love that.

[00:19:05] Thank you.

[00:19:05] Thank you for asking.

[00:19:07] Yeah.

[00:19:07] We'll definitely put the link.

[00:19:08] When we put this out.

[00:19:09] We'll definitely put that out for you.

[00:19:11] To make sure people know about it.

[00:19:13] That's awesome.

[00:19:14] Yay.

[00:19:14] Sabrina.

[00:19:16] Fran.

[00:19:17] You have one more question.

[00:19:18] About.

[00:19:20] Storylines.

[00:19:22] Want to bring it back to Lower Decks?

[00:19:23] Yeah.

[00:19:24] We're bringing it back to Lower Decks.

[00:19:25] Right.

[00:19:26] Lower Decks.

[00:19:26] We're tossing the question to you.

[00:19:27] You know that thing.

[00:19:30] Well.

[00:19:30] I was.

[00:19:32] My question was.

[00:19:34] Were you surprised.

[00:19:36] By the instant acceptance.

[00:19:38] Of your character.

[00:19:39] By the fandom.

[00:19:42] Oh.

[00:19:43] I mean.

[00:19:44] It was like.

[00:19:45] Oh my gosh.

[00:19:46] Yes.

[00:19:47] It was.

[00:19:48] Yes.

[00:19:48] So nervous.

[00:19:50] It was just about instant.

[00:19:50] Oh.

[00:19:51] Thank you.

[00:19:51] I was so nervous.

[00:19:53] I don't know if Mike was.

[00:19:54] But I was.

[00:19:55] It's because.

[00:19:56] I mean.

[00:19:57] We know this.

[00:19:58] Sabrina.

[00:19:58] I mean.

[00:19:59] They're.

[00:19:59] Vulcans are specific.

[00:20:01] They're.

[00:20:01] Yes.

[00:20:02] They're.

[00:20:02] They're so.

[00:20:03] It's so extra.

[00:20:04] They're so extra.

[00:20:05] And so to in.

[00:20:07] To in.

[00:20:08] Like put my.

[00:20:09] My.

[00:20:10] Stab on it.

[00:20:11] My mark on it.

[00:20:13] There's such perfectionists too.

[00:20:15] Like.

[00:20:15] I remember.

[00:20:16] Yeah.

[00:20:17] I remember the audition.

[00:20:18] Friend where I.

[00:20:19] Recorded at night.

[00:20:20] And I woke up the next day.

[00:20:21] And I told my husband.

[00:20:22] I was like.

[00:20:22] It's not right.

[00:20:23] I got to do it again.

[00:20:24] I have to go back.

[00:20:25] Into my closet.

[00:20:26] And record it again.

[00:20:27] Because.

[00:20:28] The.

[00:20:30] The specificity of it.

[00:20:31] You know what I mean.

[00:20:32] It just like.

[00:20:32] It has to be.

[00:20:33] And they're.

[00:20:33] And she's not.

[00:20:34] As we see.

[00:20:35] She's not like the rest.

[00:20:37] Of the lower deckers.

[00:20:38] She is the.

[00:20:39] Straight man.

[00:20:40] She is the cool.

[00:20:41] The calm.

[00:20:41] Which is very.

[00:20:43] You know.

[00:20:43] Classic.

[00:20:44] Vulcan dynamic.

[00:20:45] With most casts.

[00:20:46] And most.

[00:20:48] Shows.

[00:20:48] That you see on Star Trek.

[00:20:50] And so.

[00:20:50] Add comedy to that.

[00:20:52] A hundred percent.

[00:20:53] That.

[00:20:54] It had to be right.

[00:20:55] And I'm so glad.

[00:20:55] That I took that extra.

[00:20:56] You know.

[00:20:57] Take on it.

[00:20:57] Because.

[00:20:58] When the fans loved her.

[00:21:00] It was such a relief.

[00:21:01] And then I added.

[00:21:02] I put a lot of pressure on myself.

[00:21:04] That I had to know everything.

[00:21:05] And anything.

[00:21:05] All Vulcan.

[00:21:06] But in the end.

[00:21:07] The fans got my back.

[00:21:09] Like.

[00:21:09] I will ask a question.

[00:21:11] And be like.

[00:21:11] Does anyone know.

[00:21:14] Does anyone know.

[00:21:16] How to sing.

[00:21:16] Happy birthday in Vulcan.

[00:21:18] Link.

[00:21:18] Right away.

[00:21:19] Right away.

[00:21:20] Because it's there.

[00:21:21] Because it's there.

[00:21:23] Because it's there.

[00:21:24] So like.

[00:21:24] Also like.

[00:21:24] There's.

[00:21:25] I'm so grateful.

[00:21:26] That there's not this expectation.

[00:21:27] That I need to be a professional Vulcan.

[00:21:29] I'm learning as I go.

[00:21:31] And I.

[00:21:31] I respect.

[00:21:33] The.

[00:21:34] Joy.

[00:21:35] That.

[00:21:36] Learning about all these different characters.

[00:21:37] And aliens.

[00:21:38] And planets.

[00:21:39] And everything.

[00:21:39] All Star Trek.

[00:21:41] And I'm very welcomed.

[00:21:42] So.

[00:21:43] That's so wonderful.

[00:21:44] Also.

[00:21:44] I sing happy birthday on cameo.

[00:21:46] In Vulcan.

[00:21:46] Oh my goodness.

[00:21:48] Goodness.

[00:21:50] I'm going to get that for Sabrina's next birthday.

[00:21:53] Oh great.

[00:21:54] Thank you.

[00:21:54] Thank you.

[00:21:55] We got a bus out in it.

[00:21:58] It's not that I hate them.

[00:22:00] It's not.

[00:22:02] Well.

[00:22:02] It looks like we got to.

[00:22:03] Like wrap up.

[00:22:04] So.

[00:22:05] Oh.

[00:22:05] Oh no.

[00:22:08] We'll talk again.

[00:22:09] Yeah.

[00:22:09] I'm seeing the person.

[00:22:10] I'm the next one.

[00:22:11] That's right.

[00:22:11] That's right.

[00:22:11] That's right.

[00:22:12] Meeting the fans.

[00:22:13] It's been wonderful.

[00:22:15] Bring the baby.

[00:22:15] I know it has.

[00:22:16] Bring the babies.

[00:22:16] The babies.

[00:22:17] Right.

[00:22:18] Baby.

[00:22:19] Well.

[00:22:19] We love you Gabrielle.

[00:22:20] And thank you so much for doing this.

[00:22:22] And.

[00:22:23] So sad.

[00:22:24] It's only fun.

[00:22:25] It's the end.

[00:22:26] But.

[00:22:26] We'll see you at all the cons.

[00:22:28] I'll see you at all the cons.

[00:22:29] We will live long and prosper.

[00:22:31] We will.

[00:22:31] Despite this five seasons.

[00:22:33] We definitely will.

[00:22:34] Enjoy the last season.

[00:22:35] There's so much growth.

[00:22:36] And so many beautiful.

[00:22:39] Explosive moments.

[00:22:40] That really.

[00:22:42] Mike and the team did such a great job.

[00:22:44] I'm so excited.

[00:22:45] We've seen the first five episodes.

[00:22:46] Episode three.

[00:22:47] Episode three is the best.

[00:22:50] Oh yeah.

[00:22:51] I know.

[00:22:52] Yeah.

[00:22:52] I don't know.

[00:22:52] I.

[00:22:53] Every time I saw them.

[00:22:54] I was like.

[00:22:54] This is going to be the best one.

[00:22:55] Oh my gosh.

[00:22:56] This is better.

[00:22:56] Yeah.

[00:22:57] So.

[00:22:58] Everyone enjoy.

[00:22:59] Have a seat.

[00:23:00] And.

[00:23:01] Share all on social media.

[00:23:02] And at the cons.

[00:23:03] Let me know how you love them.

[00:23:04] Yeah.

[00:23:04] Talena.

[00:23:05] Talena.

[00:23:05] Fangirling is the best.

[00:23:08] Bye.

[00:23:08] Oh she can do it too.

[00:23:10] Hey.

[00:23:11] Oh yeah.

[00:23:12] Definitely.

[00:23:12] Live long and prosper.

[00:23:14] Okay.

[00:23:15] Were we right or what?

[00:23:16] That had to be one of our favorite.

[00:23:19] Favorite interviews.

[00:23:20] Or one of our new favorite people.

[00:23:22] And now you know why.

[00:23:23] I mean.

[00:23:23] The girl is just a joy.

[00:23:25] She is an absolute joy.

[00:23:27] Yeah.

[00:23:27] Yeah.

[00:23:27] She's.

[00:23:29] I.

[00:23:29] I was really impressed about.

[00:23:33] You know.

[00:23:33] Just her other thing.

[00:23:35] You know.

[00:23:35] The things that she gives back.

[00:23:38] And her.

[00:23:39] She's really.

[00:23:39] She's a real.

[00:23:41] I don't know.

[00:23:42] She's.

[00:23:42] Authentic.

[00:23:43] Authentic.

[00:23:44] That's what it is.

[00:23:44] Very.

[00:23:45] Yeah.

[00:23:45] Yeah.

[00:23:46] It just comes.

[00:23:47] It oozes out of her.

[00:23:49] Yeah.

[00:23:49] It does.

[00:23:50] And she's.

[00:23:51] She's a night.

[00:23:51] Really good person.

[00:23:52] Because we definitely got to spend time with her in Vegas.

[00:23:55] And.

[00:23:56] She is just.

[00:23:58] And even.

[00:23:59] Not even.

[00:23:59] Not even just Vegas.

[00:24:01] Trek on Island.

[00:24:03] I've told her about that.

[00:24:04] You know.

[00:24:05] That's where we met her.

[00:24:06] And we've become.

[00:24:07] She's been wonderful to us.

[00:24:09] You know.

[00:24:09] Ever since.

[00:24:10] So.

[00:24:12] It was nice to finally get.

[00:24:14] Get to that point.

[00:24:15] Where we got to talk to her.

[00:24:17] And her cute little baby.

[00:24:18] Oh my God.

[00:24:19] Little baby is so cute.

[00:24:21] Woo.

[00:24:22] We like her.

[00:24:23] We really like her.

[00:24:24] Right.

[00:24:25] Right.

[00:24:25] Right.

[00:24:27] That was really good.

[00:24:28] And.

[00:24:29] You know.

[00:24:30] We were just talking about how.

[00:24:32] Hopefully.

[00:24:33] Lower Decks has another.

[00:24:35] Something else.

[00:24:36] To give.

[00:24:38] You know.

[00:24:39] We hope so too.

[00:24:40] But I know that this season.

[00:24:41] Although not over yet.

[00:24:43] Is.

[00:24:44] Is bittersweet.

[00:24:45] Because really.

[00:24:46] Really enjoy this.

[00:24:48] Uh.

[00:24:48] Iteration of Star Trek.

[00:24:50] Um.

[00:24:51] They really did a great job.

[00:24:53] Uh.

[00:24:53] With this.

[00:24:53] They picked some.

[00:24:54] Really good people.

[00:24:55] As.

[00:24:56] As they have been.

[00:24:57] For most of the shows.

[00:24:58] And.

[00:24:59] I'm gonna miss.

[00:25:00] Yeah.

[00:25:00] But you know.

[00:25:01] You know how you're.

[00:25:02] When you're a Star Trek family.

[00:25:03] You're a Star Trek family forever.

[00:25:05] These are.

[00:25:05] These forever people.

[00:25:06] Are some of our favorites.

[00:25:08] From year one out.

[00:25:09] I love it.

[00:25:10] Yeah.

[00:25:10] Yeah.

[00:25:11] Yeah.

[00:25:11] I'm so good.

[00:25:12] All right.

[00:25:12] This cast.

[00:25:14] Yeah.

[00:25:14] They're gonna be.

[00:25:15] I.

[00:25:16] I.

[00:25:16] I.

[00:25:16] I.

[00:25:16] I.

[00:25:17] I.

[00:25:17] I think they're.

[00:25:18] Probably my.

[00:25:18] One of my favorite cast.

[00:25:20] I mean.

[00:25:20] Nothing.

[00:25:21] Nothing tops DS9.

[00:25:23] Of course.

[00:25:23] But.

[00:25:24] They are definitely there.

[00:25:26] Right.

[00:25:27] Right.

[00:25:28] But.

[00:25:28] DS9.

[00:25:29] I know.

[00:25:29] I know what you're saying.

[00:25:30] I know what you're saying.

[00:25:30] I know what you're saying.

[00:25:31] It's a.

[00:25:31] It's a.

[00:25:32] It's a hot.

[00:25:33] DS9 is.

[00:25:34] But DS9 is here.

[00:25:36] I mean.

[00:25:36] DS9 is in my heart.

[00:25:38] You know.

[00:25:39] So many things happen to me.

[00:25:41] As a.
