The one where we switch to Picard S3

Sorry for the wait listeners!!! We are back and it's our 50th episode! Join Haley and I as we take a break from classic TNG and move into a rewatch of Picard Season 3 starting at the beginning with The Next Generation.
In this episode Haley and I talk all about what we thought when we saw this epic first episode...we talk Shaw, we talk Bev and her badass opening scene and we laugh along with all of Riker's classic lines. Not only that, we discuss some of the cool hidden details within the episode, thoughts on what could be next and again, gush over how much we love Shaw. Naturally of course there's lots of other nonsense including an update about Haley's new neighbourhood and what we're watching on the boob tube. So pour a glass of Malbec, BBQ up some green steak and join us!

[00:00:00] Please note this podcast sometimes has adult language and adult themes.

[00:00:17] Listener discretion is advised.

[00:00:19] If you are looking for a Star Trek podcast that was done one way and now is coming at

[00:00:27] you with a new look and feel.

[00:00:28] If you're looking for a podcast that delves into the intricacies of warp core maintenance.

[00:00:34] What about a podcast that basically just lists off the steps necessary to build an

[00:00:38] IKEA dresser?

[00:00:41] That would actually be good on a website I'd visit it.

[00:00:43] Or if you're looking for a podcast where the techno babble goes so deep even Jordy needs

[00:00:47] subtitles.

[00:00:48] Oh, this is not the podcast for you.

[00:00:53] That's Hayley.

[00:00:54] I'm Sarah and we're here on our 50th episode of Not That Extravaganza.

[00:01:00] Hit it!

[00:01:01] Oh my God.

[00:01:20] Do we think we have 50 people that will listen to this?

[00:01:22] No, there's no way.

[00:01:25] I mean, I have 50 personalities.

[00:01:28] One of those, it could do those count.

[00:01:31] Do they have names?

[00:01:32] No.

[00:01:33] You know what?

[00:01:34] Do you have a stuffed animal?

[00:01:38] Okay, when you were a child did you have a stuffed animal?

[00:01:41] Oh yeah, Fred.

[00:01:42] Did Fred talk?

[00:01:44] No.

[00:01:45] Okay, mine doesn't talk either.

[00:01:48] No.

[00:01:49] Yeah, okay.

[00:01:50] I've read the dog.

[00:01:51] Mine's a bear, Snow Wall as you know.

[00:01:53] Oh yeah.

[00:01:54] And he doesn't talk and he never has.

[00:01:55] No.

[00:01:56] And I thought that, oh, something's wrong with me because I can't like imagine,

[00:02:00] I guess.

[00:02:01] But they don't talk so I'm not sure I'm getting into this but...

[00:02:09] This is a deep dive I wasn't expecting today.

[00:02:12] We're taking the Star Trek podcast to a paranormal avenue.

[00:02:17] Yeah, we could.

[00:02:19] What's going on?

[00:02:20] How are you?

[00:02:21] We have not seen each other in person in about 12 months it feels like.

[00:02:25] I know it's been more recent than that but.

[00:02:28] Yeah, yeah.

[00:02:30] What is it about us in winter and I don't know I become a recluse myself like I'm

[00:02:34] really just like I'm canceling plans left right and center and then I'm

[00:02:38] wondering like why I have no friends and I'm like.

[00:02:40] Oh my God.

[00:02:42] Well at least you have social media of some kind presumably and you like see

[00:02:46] people exist that you know I have no idea.

[00:02:50] But I'm okay with that.

[00:02:53] I'm good.

[00:02:54] Yeah, I feel you with the winter thing.

[00:02:57] So like we moved was not a planned move.

[00:03:01] We weren't like evicted or anything.

[00:03:03] We just like found it like a like totally kick ass place and saw it

[00:03:08] and just snapped it up and ended up moving like very quickly.

[00:03:14] And I always thought I was that kind of person that's like I don't get

[00:03:17] the sad.

[00:03:18] I love the dark and the gray, you know, like.

[00:03:21] Yeah.

[00:03:22] Like my goss days like I loved like my time and yeah,

[00:03:26] I just wanted to like live at night.

[00:03:29] But this fucking great shit is really bringing me down.

[00:03:32] I'm over it.

[00:03:33] I can see some like I can see some little cherry blossoms on the tree

[00:03:36] outside.

[00:03:37] That's nice.

[00:03:38] I still like it's gray.

[00:03:40] It's so blah.

[00:03:42] I'm tired.

[00:03:43] Yeah.

[00:03:44] It's boring.

[00:03:45] Yeah.

[00:03:46] I have no energy.

[00:03:47] Yeah.

[00:03:48] I know I'm looking at myself in the camera.

[00:03:50] I'm like, this is me at my palest.

[00:03:52] This is me when I don't have like my freckles.

[00:03:55] Like I tan really fast, you know that.

[00:03:57] And I just always feel like I look healthier in the summer and

[00:04:01] the spring.

[00:04:02] I'm usually doing more active things like playing tennis or taking

[00:04:06] the dogs on longer walks right now.

[00:04:08] I literally bundle up looking.

[00:04:09] I look like a homeless person in my neighbor,

[00:04:11] an unhoused person.

[00:04:12] I always worry I'm going to be called.

[00:04:14] They're going to have people following me like the local.

[00:04:17] I got these two ragged muffin dogs and we're just fucking clawing

[00:04:21] through the wet.

[00:04:23] Twilight vampire ridden woods.

[00:04:26] And it's, you know, I love it in October.

[00:04:29] I can't take enough photos of the fog.

[00:04:31] It's gorgeous because we've come out of summer and everything's

[00:04:34] dead and brown right?

[00:04:36] Yeah.

[00:04:37] And then you get the one dump of snow on it and it's really

[00:04:39] pretty in there.

[00:04:40] It's like a scene out of like a Disney movie.

[00:04:42] But now it the yard is mush.

[00:04:46] It's just covered in dog shit.

[00:04:48] I don't want to go out in the rain and pick it up.

[00:04:50] I just, the plants are all just like teasing with one or two buds,

[00:04:55] but it still looks like the Adams family in the backyard.

[00:04:58] It's just depressing.

[00:05:00] I'm so ready for spring.

[00:05:01] It's going to be the best spring summer ever.

[00:05:03] It is.

[00:05:04] It is.

[00:05:05] And I keep saying that too.

[00:05:06] Like, I can't wait to see what this place looks like in the spring

[00:05:08] and summer.

[00:05:09] Like, yeah.

[00:05:10] And I'm, you know, I'm with you.

[00:05:12] I also prefer the warmer days and sunnier days.

[00:05:16] And like my life is transitioned to an outdoor active person as

[00:05:21] well.

[00:05:22] And so like, I also feel like, oh, like, and same with the

[00:05:28] unhoused sort of derelict.

[00:05:32] I like, at least I'm wearing an expensive jacket.

[00:05:35] Then I think, well, that doesn't mean anything.

[00:05:37] Like I could have just like snapped this jacket off of anyone.

[00:05:41] And so that doesn't help.

[00:05:42] But, you know, Birkenstock sandals with like fuzzy saw, like,

[00:05:46] you know, I'm trying in this neighborhood.

[00:05:49] So we moved to a fancy neighborhood, except for the house

[00:05:53] next door.

[00:05:54] So John, the other day, it's like, Hey, look outside.

[00:05:57] I'm like, Hey, okay.

[00:05:59] So I'm like looking outside and don't see anything.

[00:06:01] I'm thinking that there's like a beautiful sunrise.

[00:06:03] He was like, no, look in the backyard outside next door.

[00:06:06] And there's cops everywhere.

[00:06:08] There's a police dog with a ball waiting to, waiting to like do

[00:06:13] his thing.

[00:06:14] And like two handlers totally like padded up and stuff.

[00:06:18] And a police, police man with a rifle.

[00:06:23] And I'm, and I'm like, it's 8am.

[00:06:26] This is a very quiet.

[00:06:28] Yeah.

[00:06:29] And then like they just took there was like six cop cars,

[00:06:31] took a guy away without incident.

[00:06:33] And then like since then they've just been like bringing

[00:06:35] in drywall and taking out drywall.

[00:06:38] So there must have been some sort of damage or something,

[00:06:40] but like the house is a rental.

[00:06:42] There's like, there's like a billion suites next door.

[00:06:45] But anyway, other than that, I feel safe.

[00:06:47] So did you do any research online to find out what it was?

[00:06:51] Like, how can I find out?

[00:06:53] How can I find out?

[00:06:54] Like crime stats about like the types of crimes that are

[00:06:56] happening in your neighborhood that maybe it would somewhat

[00:06:58] give you like an assessment of if it is a drug related as

[00:07:01] it owning of like possession of stolen property or was it assault

[00:07:07] or was it going to write it down.

[00:07:09] Look up crime.

[00:07:12] Yeah, I'm not sure alleged crime.

[00:07:16] Yeah, I'm not sure.

[00:07:18] He's just like some small white guy and I thought like with

[00:07:22] the gun presence that maybe there was a weapon,

[00:07:24] but it was also like they weren't, they weren't,

[00:07:26] they were just kind of like milling about outside.

[00:07:29] Dry wall is being dealt with that to me means damage of some

[00:07:33] kind, which could be either.

[00:07:37] Well, yeah, or it could be some type of like drug thing where

[00:07:40] it's like mildew and moisture is soaked through the walls in

[00:07:44] some sense or.

[00:07:45] That's true.

[00:07:46] Or it could be unrelated, but all that is telling me you

[00:07:50] and I should be detectives.

[00:07:52] I've been wanting to be a detective since I was eight.

[00:07:56] I don't know why it hasn't happened just naturally.

[00:07:58] Why hasn't it just fallen onto my lap yet?

[00:08:00] I've started posting.

[00:08:02] You need to have some sort of experience like how can I come

[00:08:05] into detective with doing the least amount of work possible?

[00:08:07] That's what I that's, that's my ask on everything in life is

[00:08:10] how can I get what I want without having to do anything?

[00:08:13] Secret.

[00:08:14] It happened on my lap.

[00:08:16] What an email saying you've been randomly selected to be a

[00:08:19] detective.

[00:08:20] Congratulations.

[00:08:21] Your uniforms in the mail and I'll be like, this is it.

[00:08:26] Like what you were thinking about.

[00:08:28] This is it.

[00:08:29] We did it.

[00:08:30] Oh, this is it.

[00:08:31] Like me and jury duty and then it didn't happen.

[00:08:33] Yeah.

[00:08:34] Nanny.

[00:08:35] Oh my God.

[00:08:36] Oh, can I tell you another funny thing that happened?

[00:08:39] Please.

[00:08:40] Unrelated podcast if you don't talk about that's part trick.

[00:08:43] Okay.

[00:08:44] I have two more things to discuss.

[00:08:45] One, my oven.

[00:08:46] So the new, the new oven is gas.

[00:08:49] So like Sylvia class, right?

[00:08:51] Here we go.

[00:08:52] Yeah.

[00:08:53] But it's fine, but it's also not a convection oven and I've been

[00:08:56] used to convection oven, right?

[00:08:58] Like, come on who this is the new place.

[00:09:01] Like, why would you even make none?

[00:09:03] It doesn't matter.

[00:09:04] So like the oven, I've been like using it a few times and

[00:09:07] it's like not, you know, when you open it and it like melts

[00:09:10] your mascara off and you're like, cool.

[00:09:12] That's not happening.

[00:09:13] Like I had it up at 500, which is the highest it goes.

[00:09:16] And still I was like something's off.

[00:09:20] Yeah.

[00:09:21] There was like a liner, like a foil liner that was supposed

[00:09:25] to be put on the bottom rack, but instead whoever cleaned

[00:09:28] this place before we moved in, put it on the very bottom

[00:09:31] of the oven, which actually covered heat vents.

[00:09:35] That was put so it was, it was keeping the heat from even

[00:09:39] coming up at all.

[00:09:40] It was just a foil liner.

[00:09:42] Sometimes it's just a foil liner.

[00:09:44] The other one I want to talk about is my mental health

[00:09:47] paintings.

[00:09:48] And I painted the one that you saw.

[00:09:50] That's the one.

[00:09:52] Yeah.

[00:09:53] Look at this.

[00:09:54] I did this yesterday.

[00:09:55] It's a jellyfish.

[00:09:56] Whoa.

[00:09:57] It's pretty good.

[00:09:58] It's pretty fancy.

[00:10:00] I showed them.

[00:10:01] I'm going to keep them in a little envelopey thing and

[00:10:05] show them to my therapist.

[00:10:07] And I also showed them to my work people and I also

[00:10:10] called them mental health paintings anyway.

[00:10:14] We are growing so apart the older we get.

[00:10:18] You're taking care of yourself and I am progressively

[00:10:21] getting worse.

[00:10:22] No, no, that's not true because this is the year of

[00:10:24] you.

[00:10:25] And it's just a shitty time.

[00:10:28] The year of you.

[00:10:31] Like the show.

[00:10:33] Like the animal.

[00:10:35] Speaking of shows, are you watching anything new or

[00:10:38] interesting or good?

[00:10:39] What's taken up your time for the boob tube?

[00:10:42] Yeah.

[00:10:43] Are you ready?

[00:10:44] Okay.

[00:10:45] I'm curious to hear what you have to say about this.

[00:10:48] The new season of true detective.

[00:10:51] I've seen the first episode and I really want to get

[00:10:53] back to it, but Brad keeps falling asleep.

[00:10:56] So could we just watch the second season?

[00:10:59] Okay.

[00:11:00] The one Colin Farrell one with Rachel McAdams.

[00:11:03] And I really, I really liked it.

[00:11:04] Brad didn't like it.

[00:11:05] He loves season one.

[00:11:06] And I don't really remember it.

[00:11:08] I kind of fell asleep.

[00:11:09] Like I had, I struggled with this show.

[00:11:11] And then I saw, so I finally got through two.

[00:11:14] I struggled.

[00:11:15] I saw the first few episodes of Mahershala Ali.

[00:11:17] I love Mahershala Ali.

[00:11:18] So I do want to go back and watch season three, but I

[00:11:20] watched at least the first two one or two episodes of

[00:11:23] season four and I'm in like, I'm ready to watch it.

[00:11:26] I just need to buckle down and do it.

[00:11:28] How are you?

[00:11:30] Oh, so you're watching true detective.

[00:11:32] You like it?

[00:11:33] I should stick with it.

[00:11:35] Oh, I think you should.

[00:11:36] And it's like, there's, there's been a couple of

[00:11:38] jump scares.

[00:11:39] So just like, yeah.

[00:11:41] Yeah, yeah.

[00:11:42] Yeah.

[00:11:43] That's all my list of things to get back to watching as

[00:11:45] is Mr. Mercedes, which is quite good.

[00:11:48] It's on, I think it's on Disney plus and that's the

[00:11:51] one with Brendan Gleason who was Maddie Moody.

[00:11:53] Oh yeah.

[00:11:54] Okay.

[00:11:55] And he plays like this gruff disgruntled.

[00:11:58] I mean he born totally the way he looks.

[00:12:00] You're just like, yeah, he's the disgruntled like

[00:12:02] retired cop.

[00:12:04] And there's a case that he couldn't close that

[00:12:07] sits with him.

[00:12:08] And so now he's like all like alone and retired in his

[00:12:11] house.

[00:12:12] And suddenly he starts getting taunted by this killer

[00:12:15] who's like, and so he's, you know, he's not taking

[00:12:18] care of himself.

[00:12:19] He drinks too much.

[00:12:20] And he's like, kind of keeps showing up at the

[00:12:22] cop shop and they're like, can't you get a f**king

[00:12:24] life?

[00:12:25] And he's like, no, and then his next neighbor is

[00:12:27] an older lady who sends him like nudes and she's

[00:12:29] like, come on, like we should have sex.

[00:12:31] I look good for my age, but you're going to

[00:12:33] need to bathe.

[00:12:34] Like it's really, oh my gosh.

[00:12:36] So I recommend it.

[00:12:37] I mean, it's a crime.

[00:12:39] It's, it's, you know, the opening scene where it

[00:12:42] shows the crime that kind of sticks with him.

[00:12:44] It's like, oh, f**k, that's an opening and a

[00:12:46] half to an episode.

[00:12:47] Interesting.

[00:12:48] Yeah.

[00:12:49] Some of the, yeah.

[00:12:51] Yeah.

[00:12:52] So that's it.

[00:12:53] We've been rewatching Sons of Anarchy.

[00:12:56] They're just getting to Ireland.

[00:12:58] Oh, good.

[00:12:59] We've been watching Modern Family from the

[00:13:01] beginning, which we've never done.

[00:13:02] So that's been kind of fun.

[00:13:03] But cool.

[00:13:04] Yeah.

[00:13:05] We haven't really been in front of the TV much.

[00:13:07] We spent the whole weekend building furniture.

[00:13:09] We got a whole new bedroom set from Ikea.

[00:13:11] And it's, instead of having like that dark wood

[00:13:13] brown color now we have white, which is great

[00:13:15] because it's like brighter.

[00:13:17] The lighting in our bedroom was really dark to start.

[00:13:19] So yeah.

[00:13:20] New white dressers, new white side tables,

[00:13:23] new white bed frame.

[00:13:25] And then we ordered a new mattress from the

[00:13:27] brick and apparently it's the Rolls Royce

[00:13:29] of mattresses king size.

[00:13:31] And it was half price.

[00:13:33] So we got it.

[00:13:35] Luxury plush.

[00:13:37] The last thing I should have for a bad

[00:13:40] back, but I just sunk into it and I was like,

[00:13:42] I don't give a shit.

[00:13:43] If I die here, whatever.

[00:13:45] Room for the dogs.

[00:13:46] We got our firm one.

[00:13:48] It's pretty firm, medium firm.

[00:13:50] Yeah.

[00:13:51] But yeah, it has room for the dogs.

[00:13:53] Yeah, I know.

[00:13:54] Like it's so funny to be in a king size bed

[00:13:56] and I like reach over.

[00:13:57] I'm like, where is he?

[00:13:58] Like far away.

[00:13:59] No, I can't wait.

[00:14:01] Wait.

[00:14:02] Yeah.

[00:14:03] That's it.

[00:14:04] That's all.

[00:14:05] I don't think there's anything else that exciting going on.

[00:14:07] It was one year ago.

[00:14:09] Like last week that.

[00:14:10] Picard season three.

[00:14:12] Came onto the TV and we discovered the world of the

[00:14:15] Titan and.

[00:14:16] Liam Shaw.

[00:14:17] So I'm excited.

[00:14:18] It is so good.

[00:14:19] And I guess we should start talking about that.

[00:14:21] But before maybe we should talk about our sponsors.

[00:14:23] Band sets.

[00:14:24] Yeah.

[00:14:25] I mean,

[00:14:26] I mean,

[00:14:27] I mean,

[00:14:28] I just heard you mention one thing excitedly.

[00:14:29] So if you would like me to do that in a little bit more.

[00:14:31] create some of them in our,

[00:14:33] Maybe I should actually talk more about something else I

[00:14:36] think we would like Rayce Walker's fan sets.

[00:14:39] Sure.

[00:14:40] Folks,

[00:14:41] we like to take a moment to thank our friends at

[00:14:44] bands sets for being our presenting sponsor.

[00:14:46] They are working hard as always to produce amazing

[00:14:48] Star Trek pins for all of us collectors.

[00:14:50] They have hundreds of officially licensed pins and

[00:14:53] more coming out all the time.

[00:14:55] I went to the website today to take a look and see

[00:14:57] Empire pins that have like the fleet going through it.

[00:15:01] There's some of them are magnet.

[00:15:02] They're super slick.

[00:15:04] So get over there.

[00:15:05] Find out what you like.

[00:15:06] Put it in the electronic shopping cart.

[00:15:09] Use trick geeks code for 10% off your order.

[00:15:12] Do it now.

[00:15:14] Bansets, our pins have character quite literally quite literally.

[00:15:21] Oh my God.

[00:15:22] So we did do something slightly different for this.

[00:15:25] Yeah.

[00:15:26] Season, right?

[00:15:27] Like I kind of came up with the idea of let's do like a really good review of the episode,

[00:15:32] but we'll stop and then we'll discuss instead of doing a synopsis and then after just being like, yeah, I liked it.

[00:15:39] Yeah.

[00:15:42] Which happens sometimes.

[00:15:44] Sorry.

[00:15:45] So I'll get I'll get us started.

[00:15:47] Okay.

[00:15:48] Okay.

[00:15:50] I just I did remember and as I sat down to like rewatch episode one, I was remembering when it aired like I got the screener.

[00:15:57] So I got the first six episodes early.

[00:15:59] Right.

[00:15:59] I binge them and I was like vibrating.

[00:16:01] I was so excited.

[00:16:03] Like I don't know what it was because I wasn't really that impressed by season one and two.

[00:16:07] Like they were fine and they had great moments where you get some of the people like back and you're like, oh my God, it's a breaker.

[00:16:12] It's but this one, the build up knowing that the entire crew was coming back together.

[00:16:18] I was like, this is going to be good.

[00:16:20] And then as soon as it opens and it's got that music by the ink spots, I was like, oh my God, I love it.

[00:16:24] It's perfect.

[00:16:24] This is all I need to see.

[00:16:25] So anyway, here we go.

[00:16:27] Part one, the opening.

[00:16:29] We're on a ship looking at a variety of objects, some of which are recognizable from previous TNG episodes.

[00:16:35] We hear Picard's voice see a hypospray and then the Jack Crusher container, the name of the doctor's dead husband.

[00:16:42] Red Alert is on.

[00:16:43] Bev is there looking flawless and she says they found us and she's hiding from something and whomever is with her on the ship just got locked away for safety.

[00:16:52] I'm assuming the gun phaser in hand.

[00:16:56] Our Bev is in combat mode like we've never seen her and frankly it's exhilarating.

[00:17:01] Gates is beyond talented, skilled and gorgeous.

[00:17:03] And you can tell she has a history of dance.

[00:17:05] She's so elegant in all of her movement.

[00:17:07] She's hit with a blast and stuff is getting destroyed and these weird bird-like humanoid aliens try and get her.

[00:17:16] But she knows how to handle her shit and sure enough she kicks serious ass while her hair blows back from the wind machine.

[00:17:22] Then she's injured.

[00:17:23] More ships are coming and she gets on a distress call to none other than her main dude, Picard.

[00:17:29] She blasts away and that is the opening to season three, my friend.

[00:17:34] What an opening.

[00:17:36] What an opening indeed.

[00:17:38] And I was sitting with the same kind of anticipation as well because you lent me the blue ray discs.

[00:17:46] Thank you.

[00:17:47] They survived the move.

[00:17:49] And I don't know, she is so cool and we never knew what happened.

[00:17:55] And then here she is and she's killing a dude.

[00:17:58] You've got my attention Beverly Crusher.

[00:18:04] Yeah.

[00:18:05] Especially because with the first two seasons of Picard, obviously we know what Picard's up to.

[00:18:11] And obviously we saw Riker and Troy briefly.

[00:18:14] But they don't even talk about really where's Worf?

[00:18:18] Where's Jordy?

[00:18:19] What are you doing?

[00:18:21] And you just get that itch because there is such an ensemble cast that to only have a couple of them around, it just doesn't seem right.

[00:18:29] Totally.

[00:18:30] We're going to get answers because that was some of the teasers that were being told by Terry and some of the other writers and people.

[00:18:37] We're not just going to bring them back, just to bring them back.

[00:18:41] We're going to give you some serious backstory.

[00:18:44] And it's like, yes.

[00:18:46] It's like the extra season of TNG that we all wanted.

[00:18:51] Yeah.

[00:18:52] I mean, if they wrote for Gates like this back in the TNG episodes, could you imagine like Dr. Crusher being so much more of a tough badass?

[00:18:58] That would have been dope.

[00:18:59] Totally.

[00:19:00] I would have loved to have seen that.

[00:19:01] It would have been amazing, especially for the 90s.

[00:19:04] You know?

[00:19:05] Anyway.

[00:19:06] Yep.

[00:19:07] Part two.

[00:19:08] We're back and Picard is at his home admiring art.

[00:19:11] Art he is going to give to Jordy who apparently is running the Fleet Museum.

[00:19:15] A cool fact.

[00:19:16] Laris is feeling guilty about taking Picard away with her and he's like, dude, I'm stoked to drink and write my book.

[00:19:21] Let's do this, babe.

[00:19:22] Later that night while at his desk we hear that familiar badge alert sound and Picard finds his old comb badge.

[00:19:29] The computer.

[00:19:30] I'm going to burp again.

[00:19:31] Shit.

[00:19:32] I should not have had soda.

[00:19:33] Bad idea genes.

[00:19:35] Okay.

[00:19:36] Picard finds his old comb badge that the computer tells him an old codec is coming through needing a passcode.

[00:19:41] Video comes up.

[00:19:42] It's Beverly and she's saying hell bird and no Starfleet trust no one.

[00:19:47] It's so serious.

[00:19:48] Laris helps him break it down and tells him to basically dust off his old cowboy hat and get out there and help her.

[00:19:54] Now we're at a cool bar.

[00:19:56] Riker is there looking so fucking good and he's like, why so many enterprise D's and the chick is like the fat ones and no one wants those.

[00:20:02] It's so sad.

[00:20:04] No one wants to buy the little enterprise for something called Frontier Day.

[00:20:08] Riker hints that there is trouble at home and they talk about Beth's message.

[00:20:12] Hell bird is remembered by Riker as something that popped up during the locutus days.

[00:20:17] Riker has a plan.

[00:20:18] They down their drinks and someone was eavesdropping.

[00:20:21] Now we are at Metalis Prime and someone is walking around a sketchy part of like a downtown that looks like my worst nightmare.

[00:20:28] It's Rafi.

[00:20:29] She seems like she's up to no good.

[00:20:31] Is it possible she's fallen off the wagon?

[00:20:33] Oh, no.

[00:20:34] Her and Seven broke up.

[00:20:36] She's talking about stuff stolen from Daystrom to the less than incredible Hulk and wants back into Starfleet by saying that by saving the day.

[00:20:44] She gives some money about drugs or something and he says something is going down with the red lady and sends her on her way but before the commercial cuts she opens up her communicator and yep Rafi is still Starfleet intelligence and she wants to debrief with somebody.

[00:21:01] Whoa.

[00:21:02] I still remember like watching that episode the first time and like as Rafi like kind of gets out from the hustle and bustle behind her.

[00:21:10] John kind of goes, hello Starfleet it's me.

[00:21:12] I'm still undercover.

[00:21:13] So good.

[00:21:18] I having seen the whole season now I can see now either like hey frontier days coming up.

[00:21:23] Hey do you remember frontier day frontier day is going to be a thing it's coming here's a poster and I'm like, oh get it because it's a big deal.

[00:21:31] And then I also like missed the part where Jordy was working in a museum.

[00:21:35] I thought he just had the old ship in his like space garage.

[00:21:38] Oh my God, could you imagine?

[00:21:40] Yeah.

[00:21:41] Yeah.

[00:21:42] Well I did.

[00:21:43] Oh 10 minutes.

[00:21:45] That's all right.

[00:21:46] We'll figure it out.

[00:21:47] The scene at the bar is so adorable to me.

[00:21:50] I would literally have chopped off both my legs and payment to hang out with those two at a bar for one hour.

[00:21:56] And the planet that Rafi is on and Talas prime Terry metallis the guy who wrote like that is not a good one he threw out the name and there is the planet I would have done the same kind of thing that's such a fun like little Easter egg.

[00:22:08] Yeah.

[00:22:09] I love how instantly the scene sets us up to remember like to what why did I write here.

[00:22:19] I love how instantly the scene sets us up to remember too many people like her and Ricardo.

[00:22:25] Oh, I see what I was trying to say is I like how this sets us up about how like these are old guys that no one thinks about like to us as like watchers of the show Picard and Riker are so iconic but to like so many people in the world.

[00:22:37] They're just another customer at a bar or just another former Starfleet officer which is really weird to think about.

[00:22:43] And so our tenders like doesn't even recognize him as being Riker who was like on that little fat ship. Like it's like, oh, okay. Yeah, that's right there there is a billion billions and billions of people and why would they be any more special like they're just

[00:22:57] Yeah, so I think it kind of sets up for the tone for a lot of the episode when you start thinking about like the other interactions they have.

[00:23:05] And yeah, I'm glad Rafi's back because I like her. I thought she was a really cool character and so to have her back for the last season I thought was pretty rad since so many other people didn't move forward.

[00:23:14] Yeah, no kidding.

[00:23:16] Part three, Riker and Picard are on their way to the Titan wanting to fool the ship that they are doing a routine inspection and taking them to where they need to go.

[00:23:25] Riker wants Picard's best mean face and they are greeted onto the Titan where they plan to sneak the ship away steal a shuttle and go help Bev.

[00:23:32] We are warned the captain is not Mr. Friendly but the first officer is none other than seven of nine.

[00:23:37] However, she tells them instantly to call her first officer Hanson because Captain Shaw prefers it.

[00:23:42] Oh, this is not a good start. I remember hearing that instantly be like who the fuck is this guy.

[00:23:47] Yeah, yeah, walk down past the staff standing at attention we get a glimpse of a character actor Chad Lindberg from the fast and furious among many other things and instantly I'm thinking he's up to something he's kind of a big named character actor what is he up to

[00:24:00] Seven seven says dinner with the captain is tonight and to lower their expectations whoof and they enter the bridge and it's kind of dark but I like it it's badass looking that new ship smell classic Riker a doe I'd excited young ensign

[00:24:15] start stairs from a distance and it's Sydney LeForge it's Jordy's daughter who what a fun surprise.

[00:24:23] Riker in classic adorable dad style embarrasses her by telling everyone her name was crash LeForge and we get a glimpse of other bridge staff and I spot the Bajoran played by Joseph Lee who I really like in the show beef.

[00:24:34] Have you seen beef.

[00:24:35] You'll know that I will it's on my list. Yeah, I want to see it.

[00:24:39] Hansen takes the ship out of dock the music is perfect everything is movie quality and it makes me almost want to cry we get a classic moment of the old guy not keeping up with technology.

[00:24:48] Excellent recovery Admiral Admiral shut it will I mean this is what we've been waiting for adorable banter brilliant writing and now green steak with Chopin not turn up in the background.

[00:25:03] If that's what Shaw wants on our first date, I can work with that but no it's going to be vodka for this girl.

[00:25:12] So they arrive he started eating and throws shade back your reputations precede you and he prefers Malbec ouch like Shaw is aware of who these two are and he is not holding back.

[00:25:26] Oh, fart. Fuck fuck fuck close my fucking page fuck this is and I got the fucking time running out blocks blocking me.

[00:25:36] God, what is up with I'm the old person who can't get down with technology. Who are you and John Luke Picard.

[00:25:43] I am John Luke Picard my God John Luke Picard every day all day every day.

[00:25:49] So Shaw is aware of who these two are and he's not holding back he tries to ensure that all will be dull and boring no big explosions like they're used to.

[00:25:57] They tell him their plan and he's straight up like no, and it does not go over well.

[00:26:02] He takes a cheap shot at Picard being explored and excuses himself for the night.

[00:26:07] Back on the party planet Rafi is on her ship wanting to meet whomever she is in communication with regarding intelligent stuff.

[00:26:13] Rafi is told she's a warrior and to find the red lady.

[00:26:18] Lady, what do you have to say about it?

[00:26:21] I prefer Malbec when I watched that scene when we're introduced to Captain Shaw.

[00:26:28] I was like, pardon me.

[00:26:31] Who are you?

[00:26:33] I didn't know who these guys are.

[00:26:35] I was not having this nonsense from him.

[00:26:37] I thought he was rude.

[00:26:38] I thought he was not fun.

[00:26:39] I thought he was closed off.

[00:26:41] But knowing what I know now and I know that we're not really supposed to talk about that, but whatever.

[00:26:46] How he even managed to be eating at all, let alone being in the room with Picard.

[00:26:52] Yeah, like I have so much more respect for him that he actually just kind of played it pretty cool.

[00:26:59] I as a rule follower, I should be on his side.

[00:27:04] I also have no nonsense and don't like when people don't follow rules.

[00:27:08] And who says that these two?

[00:27:11] Captain with no chair and an admiral retired.

[00:27:14] Congratulations.

[00:27:16] Have any say in what they should be doing, which is a request to go really far away in an unsafe area.

[00:27:24] And then I also find it weird that Riker and Seven didn't meet until now, but whatever.

[00:27:29] We've met a lot of times.

[00:27:32] I just remember when that scene took place with Shaw.

[00:27:36] I was like, this guy's a fucking asshole.

[00:27:39] And I love it because it hadn't been in years that a new character provoked a reaction from me like that in Star Trek.

[00:27:45] And the fact that I was instantly like, who the fuck does he think he is?

[00:27:49] And then I was like, you know what, like fair.

[00:27:52] Like if you were a rule follower who wants to have a good career and not get people killed,

[00:27:57] you'd be very aware of the rebels that were out there.

[00:27:59] And there is no doubt that those two caused some shenanigans back in the day.

[00:28:03] And you wouldn't want any of that on your ship, on your watch.

[00:28:06] And so sure he does it kind of rude.

[00:28:08] But I was like good on him because no one challenges them like that because all of us are in love and do I and worship these characters that it's like not everyone's going to.

[00:28:17] And I thought that was just a really smart way of introducing a new character.

[00:28:21] So instantly I was just like, this is awesome.

[00:28:23] Like sure he's being a dick but I'm like I'm engaged in this.

[00:28:27] What's happening right?

[00:28:29] Totally.

[00:28:30] It's really realistic about how people can be especially I'm guessing in the military kind of world.

[00:28:35] Yes, I mean I can only imagine it was such a cool place to be on set that day for filming that like how many times do they shoot that scene like yeah.

[00:28:43] He doesn't love jazz music but I can still see past that.

[00:28:46] I absolutely saw.

[00:28:49] I can't believe I didn't fall for like we don't know what we know what we know but like the use of the word warrior.

[00:28:55] Rafi being told she's a warrior.

[00:28:57] I should have realized that was a little bit of a hint you know what I mean?

[00:29:00] I was still looking for the chick that like didn't she become the ship and the board.

[00:29:05] Oh, Allison Pills character.

[00:29:07] Yeah yeah so I was like I don't know who's talking to her but yeah like it totally makes sense.

[00:29:11] That's how it's 2020 is I like to say.

[00:29:14] As you like to say.

[00:29:15] All right we're going to close zoom and we're going to take a couple minutes bathroom break figure out your shit and then I will buy a break.

[00:29:20] Okay.

[00:29:21] Bye.

[00:29:22] Bye.

[00:29:25] Okay bye.

[00:29:26] All right.

[00:29:27] Part four, four, four, four.

[00:29:29] This is utterly humiliating.

[00:29:31] Riker and Bacardi sharing bunk beds.

[00:29:34] It's so brutal but it's also fucking hilarious.

[00:29:37] Bacardi talks about the last time he saw Beverly and it was not good terms and no one has seen her in 20 years.

[00:29:44] They are called to the observation lounge where seven of nine wants to know what's up friend of friend.

[00:29:50] She's clearly missing her old life as a ranger and is struggling.

[00:29:54] Sydney says they've dropped out of warp and they are at the right in system she disobeyed orders for her boys.

[00:30:00] She says they can they detected a ship running on low power and that in four minutes they can get a shuttle and sneak off to find Bev.

[00:30:08] Shaw wakes up, enters the bridge and asks for the ship to be locked down.

[00:30:13] Riker and Bacardi launched just in time and Riker likes that seven.

[00:30:17] Shaw tells seven she's fucked her career basically and you know she don't care.

[00:30:23] Rafi finds a red lady it's some statue unveiling and she is rushing to get there.

[00:30:29] The fact that seven was like yeah I'm just gonna do this.

[00:30:34] I don't know I appreciate it because she knows Big Harden there's gotta be a good reason for him to want to go out there.

[00:30:39] Like she's really like trusting him here but I also totally get Shaw's point this is not an Uber this is a Starship and you are not allowed to just take it off course to a galaxy far far away.

[00:30:50] Taking it to somewhere that's on the edge of the edge of the federation space.

[00:30:57] You don't just kill yourself you kill a ship full of people innocent people.

[00:31:01] Also like I'm not going to ask this question because it's Picard and Riker but don't they have any fucking resources don't they have like is this the only option they had I know there would be no show without it.

[00:31:11] I know just majority he's got a whole bunch in the museum.

[00:31:15] Yeah just need work at a museum full of ships.

[00:31:18] Yeah got enough room for you guys.

[00:31:20] No.

[00:31:21] Yeah it's fine because it's the show the premise but.

[00:31:25] Yeah but what a power move putting them in on bunk beds in that room.

[00:31:29] Like that is such a fuck you power move I would have the exact same fucking thing about Shaw.

[00:31:35] Yeah did the best they could with the yeah yeah yeah.

[00:31:38] Yeah.

[00:31:39] Oh, like just so good and then like it's the little things that in this episode that made me so excited for the next episode it's the little things it's the banter it's the humor it's right you're having to get up to pee all the time in the middle of the night like that is so real.

[00:31:56] And it's such a thing and it's the fact that they just kind of touch on it it's like they're they're making fun of the fact like yeah we're old like we know we're old but we're here.

[00:32:05] Totally yeah.

[00:32:06] Yeah.

[00:32:07] And I love it.

[00:32:08] I just it was so good.

[00:32:10] Okay.

[00:32:11] Part five five five five five.

[00:32:15] Raffi arrives at the planet to help save the day and it's too late the center is destroyed it collapses and then falls from the sky like it was picked up and dropped.

[00:32:24] The card and Riker cruise through pretty clouds to find Bev they find her ship and it's damaged all the shit life signs one for sure maybe more your hands are stiff my knees are killing me right here is honest and blunt and hilarious in this first episode more of this always

[00:32:39] please make their way on board and music is playing a super eerie.

[00:32:44] A compilation apparently made by Picard himself.

[00:32:46] Oh mixtape that's real love.

[00:32:50] They see the phaser fire keep exploring and Picard finds her life bucket thing while a young guy points a phaser at Riker he drags Riker into the room and has Riker hostage and Picard is there to save the day and help and he lowers his weapon so.

[00:33:04] So, or part is there to save the day and to help and so he lowers his weapon and so Riker hits him disarms him and he announces that he is in fact Bev's son.

[00:33:14] And it's not Wesley.

[00:33:17] The ship's around the aliens have found them and the warp is offline the sun says they are being hunted and on screen they see the big scary ship.

[00:33:27] The claw.

[00:33:28] It looks like a clock.

[00:33:29] It's badass.

[00:33:30] And that's where it ends.

[00:33:32] Oh my God.

[00:33:34] What an episode.

[00:33:36] I know like okay first of all like when Picard when they get on the ship and he's like this is from a mixtape I made Bev.

[00:33:43] Are you sure are you sure she's not just listening to that song.

[00:33:47] And that song is part of a different compilation like now three or something anyway.

[00:33:53] I had now three.

[00:33:56] The claw ship is like so badass it reminds me of Mero's ship.

[00:34:01] Yes, yeah.

[00:34:02] And it looks so hardcore it also reminds me of the structures that they're trying to on earth right now that they're trying to figure out what to all Jack.

[00:34:11] So cute.

[00:34:13] That's how I sleep too.

[00:34:15] It reminds me of the structures they're trying to build to warn the future generations when I wrote this down I wrote lol because I also don't think that the earth is going to be around for very long about the underground nuclear waste that we're burying and so they're trying to like build these structures that will speak to people who may not speak our language or any language.

[00:34:34] Don't go here.

[00:34:36] And that's what that ship reminds me of Jack being British does not give you even a half a second to think that this is not Picard's son.

[00:34:44] It's like it's him.

[00:34:46] You just know the thing and Ed Spielers I thought was fantastic.

[00:34:50] I am a fan of Ed Spielers.

[00:34:52] I've liked him in other things like Downton Abbey.

[00:34:54] I was really excited, but I have to be the bitch.

[00:34:57] I'm going to be a cunt here and I he does not look like he's 21 or 20 like we're supposed to believe that he's he's we're supposed to believe that he's really young because it's been a long time.

[00:35:06] It's been 20 years that since they've seen Bev, right?

[00:35:09] So she obviously got knocked up and took off.

[00:35:11] And so he's we're meant to believe that he's 2021 and it's like I get it.

[00:35:15] I can't pass for 21 either sweetheart.

[00:35:17] I know but that kind of throws me off but it's so different than like Harry Potter like serious remission Snape are all supposed to be like 32.

[00:35:26] Like really you got 65 year old actors here like they're great.

[00:35:29] I love it.

[00:35:30] But if you want accuracy.

[00:35:33] Jack stop crying.

[00:35:36] He's like, I can hear him.

[00:35:39] I can hear him.

[00:35:40] I have something to say about this episode too.

[00:35:43] Oh, never ending.

[00:35:47] Yeah, I agree with all the things you said.

[00:35:51] It was a great first episode.

[00:35:53] It's still fine.

[00:35:54] I mean it locked me in instantly.

[00:35:56] I mean you have you have the humor.

[00:35:58] You get to see Riker already.

[00:35:59] You get to see Bev already.

[00:36:00] You get reference to Jordy.

[00:36:02] Rafi is there.

[00:36:03] You meet this new 79 you meet this new character Shaw who's fucking hot.

[00:36:07] I'm sorry.

[00:36:08] It's like Dr. Galsy space a fucking asshole.

[00:36:11] Like I just I love that.

[00:36:12] I don't know why in real life I would never put up with that shit.

[00:36:15] So it's like on TV like so so good.

[00:36:19] So yeah, there he is.

[00:36:22] Mary he's like pay attention to me.

[00:36:25] He's such a little bitch.

[00:36:28] Oh, Jack.

[00:36:32] You're doing pretty good for yourself, but this time last year you were in a dumpster.

[00:36:36] So you're welcome.

[00:36:38] Oh yeah, we got to meet Sydney LaForge too,

[00:36:40] which I thought was a really good addition because sometimes when they throw in like a common last name like that,

[00:36:44] you're like okay, what kind of like just character are you throwing into throw in.

[00:36:47] But I really liked the character of Sydney as she keeps moving on and I likely dropped a couple of hints too about like,

[00:36:54] there was a riff with Bev and it affected everybody, not just Picard.

[00:36:57] Yeah.

[00:36:58] And then Riker's having some issues at home.

[00:37:00] Like what's what's that?

[00:37:02] There's just enough in there that you're like okay I'm kind of curious and Bev son who's the dad like it was such a good way of like

[00:37:10] subtly dropping in a couple of hints that like questions that aren't just so like in your face like it's just good.

[00:37:17] It's just good writing.

[00:37:18] I think yeah what it is.

[00:37:19] Yep.

[00:37:20] Yep.

[00:37:21] That's what it is.

[00:37:22] Good writing.

[00:37:23] Great writing.

[00:37:24] Great writing even.

[00:37:26] Great writing.

[00:37:27] There wasn't a lot for stuff on internet movie database that I could find first time you found.

[00:37:33] Yeah.

[00:37:34] Why don't you tell us that first and then I'll show the couple of little things that I saw.

[00:37:39] Sure.

[00:37:40] There was only the one goof on IMDB 32 people found it helpful and two people did not find it helpful.

[00:37:46] The goof is I know it's like why do we waste their time to know this wasn't helpful.

[00:37:51] I mean that's how I feel about most of these goofs but I'm not going to say that.

[00:37:54] No.

[00:37:55] I'm going to make an account just so I can press a thumb up or a thumb down.

[00:37:58] You're ruining someone's day.

[00:37:59] I know.

[00:38:00] So here's the goof and this is tell me what you think the weapon Beverly Crusher uses in the preface preface

[00:38:07] announces loudly that the power that its power is depleted.

[00:38:12] This would of course notify your enemy that you are vulnerable to attack and be disadvantageous.

[00:38:17] Yeah.

[00:38:18] I mean like she could have a backup weapon.

[00:38:22] She could have a cache of weapons so shut up.

[00:38:26] Maybe I'm one of the ghost guns.

[00:38:29] Heard about that on the news today.

[00:38:31] Big top I'm like yeah.

[00:38:33] I've really enjoyed writing about that to be honest.

[00:38:36] But you did so much fun.

[00:38:38] Pew pew pew pew.

[00:38:40] I'm going to get you a ghost gun.

[00:38:42] No don't.

[00:38:44] So the first thing I'm going to do is go back to the first thing I'm going to do is I'm going

[00:38:51] to get you a ghost gun.

[00:38:53] Beverly Crusher's ship is named the SS Elios.

[00:38:56] Elios.

[00:38:57] Elios.

[00:38:58] Elios.

[00:38:59] In Greek mythology, Elios was the personification of mercy, clemency, compassion and pity.

[00:39:03] So that's a fun fact.

[00:39:07] In the opening scenes there are several callbacks to Dr. Crusher's character in the original

[00:39:12] movie.

[00:39:13] I have the same outfit now.

[00:39:16] Her pearls, the pearl necklace that Picard gave her in the big goodbye.

[00:39:22] And her comedy and tragedy masks representing her love of theater and

[00:39:26] dramatics are seen in the ninth degree disaster and frame of mind.

[00:39:30] So there you go.

[00:39:32] It's really it's still her even though she's like got black hair now and

[00:39:36] she's sort of like out there.

[00:39:39] So I knew that there was going to be so much more stuff in this show that I'd

[00:39:43] never catch on to.

[00:39:44] Like I've learned that lesson, especially when podcasting with people like

[00:39:47] Bill and Dan who are so much more smart about Star Trek like they know, they

[00:39:51] memorize it.

[00:39:52] They just they know everything better than I do.

[00:39:54] I barely pay attention.

[00:39:55] I can hardly remember if I have even seen it or not.

[00:39:58] So I knew that I'd be missing stuff in this series and I did not want to

[00:40:01] miss stuff because it was that good.

[00:40:02] So I did some digging around and I found some really good information on an

[00:40:06] issue from observation lounge section by Jim Morehouse on Trek core.com.

[00:40:12] Okay, cool.

[00:40:13] So as the camera pans through and we talked about this just now, we see a

[00:40:17] number of personal belongings, the string of pearls from the big goodbye

[00:40:20] pair of theatrical masks, a 2370s era blood sample hypospray from DS9's

[00:40:26] Paradise Lost Jack Crusher's old storage container seen in family,

[00:40:30] an award for eradicating the fire rocks plague on core Corley five,

[00:40:35] which is from allegiance orchids.

[00:40:38] And yeah, so like lots of little things.

[00:40:41] Cool.

[00:40:42] Just before Beverly sits up in that opening sequence, a clear bowl of blue

[00:40:46] liquid on her bedside table gets a close up.

[00:40:48] This is likely a reference to the similar bowl of blue liquid

[00:40:51] crusher kept next to her bed in cause and effect.

[00:40:54] Huh.

[00:40:55] Actress Amy Earhart voices the L. E. O.'s computer.

[00:40:59] Earhart just happens to be married to Star Trek Procarious season three

[00:41:01] showrunner Terry Mattala.

[00:41:03] So is the wife.

[00:41:04] It's the wife.

[00:41:06] As Picard is packing up the Chateau, we see several personal artifacts

[00:41:09] seen in the previous two seasons, including the Resican flute from

[00:41:13] the inner light, his Curlin Nascos from I don't know what that is

[00:41:18] from the chase, a Bajoran Award, a gold plated Enterprise D and

[00:41:22] of course his Enterprise D painting, which once hung in his

[00:41:25] ready room aboard that ship.

[00:41:29] When decoding Beverly.

[00:41:31] I don't know any of these.

[00:41:32] Sorry.

[00:41:33] When decoding Beverly's message, Picard uses Starfleet

[00:41:36] authorization code Picard four seven alpha tango first recited

[00:41:39] in Star Trek first contact warf 69.

[00:41:44] The protein on Captain Shaw's plate is a bright greenish blue

[00:41:49] color likely a nod to the similarly colored food in Star

[00:41:52] Trek.

[00:41:54] Six Klingon dinner scene.

[00:41:58] The utterly humiliating scene featuring Picard and Riker

[00:42:02] sharing a bunk bed on the Titan a courtesy of Captain Shaw

[00:42:05] was reminiscent of the Spartan quarters given to the captain

[00:42:08] and data aboard a Klingon bird of prey in unification.

[00:42:13] Rafi's birthday is April 9th 2353.

[00:42:17] This is the same year in which Jack Crusher dies.

[00:42:19] Will Riker and Joy LeForge enter Starfleet Academy

[00:42:22] and Nog is born on Ferenganar.

[00:42:26] I'm going to go.

[00:42:29] Cool.

[00:42:32] Those are some serious like someone took notice and saw some

[00:42:35] bullshit.

[00:42:36] I'll be excited to see what else I can find.

[00:42:38] Maybe there'll be some more articles written by the same

[00:42:40] person on track or that will.

[00:42:42] Yeah, I like that.

[00:42:43] Yeah, I could use all the help I can get so.

[00:42:46] And I like those Easter eggs because I'm like, oh, that's

[00:42:48] really cool.

[00:42:49] Like, I thought about this.

[00:42:50] I thought they got talked about a few episodes ago about

[00:42:52] like the real rabbit hole.

[00:42:54] Yeah, I think it goes very to this character that gravestone is

[00:42:56] this person.

[00:42:57] I'm just like, I love that because it just goes to show how much

[00:42:59] effort people put into the work they do.

[00:43:02] Yeah, yeah, I really appreciate that.

[00:43:04] Yeah, yeah, me too.

[00:43:06] Me too.

[00:43:07] Do you want to do anything fun?

[00:43:09] Well, I tried to so I tried to run with your idea of like

[00:43:15] what if the succession cast were on the Titan.

[00:43:18] I think I said what if the success cast.

[00:43:23] Spelling error.

[00:43:24] I saw that today.

[00:43:26] Main.

[00:43:27] And as I've written here, I will not lie.

[00:43:31] I got these from chat GBT and then I wrote but I will make

[00:43:34] changes to make it funny and my own because I didn't.

[00:43:38] My way this time is I'm not going to do anything.

[00:43:46] So I'm just going to read out what chat GBT.

[00:43:51] This is it.

[00:43:52] Are you ready?

[00:43:53] I was born ready for this.

[00:43:56] Okay, Logan Roy.

[00:43:59] He's the main guy.

[00:44:01] Grumpy Klingon ambassador.

[00:44:03] Logan with his no nonsense attitude could be the Grumpy

[00:44:06] Klingon ambassador intimidating any other species with

[00:44:09] his fierce negotiating tactics.

[00:44:11] Yes.

[00:44:12] True.

[00:44:13] Kendall Roy hipster Vulcan barista.

[00:44:17] Kendall always trying to be on the cutting edge might

[00:44:20] be the best way to work as a hipster Vulcan barista

[00:44:23] experimenting with new blends of Vulcan coffee in the

[00:44:25] ship's lounge.

[00:44:26] I can't imagine him like not on a quest for power, but

[00:44:29] there you go.

[00:44:30] It's Star Trek so it's a little different.

[00:44:32] Roman Roy holodeck standup comedian.

[00:44:35] Roman known for his humor could entertain the crew as

[00:44:38] a holodeck standup comedian testing his wit and

[00:44:41] virtual comedy routines.

[00:44:43] Did you see Kieran Culkin at the Golden Globes or

[00:44:47] the Golden Globes?

[00:44:48] Kieran Culkin is a great actor.

[00:44:50] He's been in a show recently and his little speech

[00:44:53] he won an award and he's just like sit down everyone

[00:44:56] sit down this is already a nightmare for me.

[00:44:58] He's so funny.

[00:44:59] So cute.

[00:45:00] Shiv Roy alien species fashion critic.

[00:45:03] Shiv with her keen eye for style might be the

[00:45:06] ship's alien species fashion critic.

[00:45:08] You know that role that we all covet so much.

[00:45:11] These are nothing like their characters.

[00:45:14] How do you feel about this?

[00:45:16] Me?

[00:45:17] Yeah.

[00:45:18] This is bad.

[00:45:19] Yeah.

[00:45:20] It's a way off Tom is a paranoid security officer

[00:45:23] may be.

[00:45:24] Jerry would be the ship's therapist.

[00:45:26] No.

[00:45:27] Honor galactic historian with a twist.

[00:45:30] But the twist from chat GPT is that he's

[00:45:33] comically eccentric.

[00:45:35] Hmm.

[00:45:36] It almost is like A I is not a replacement for

[00:45:40] our own brain concerned about A I taking

[00:45:43] about AI taking over anytime soon, if that's the kind of shit they're putting out.

[00:45:46] Because I was thinking more along the lines of like, yeah, I was, I was, yeah.

[00:45:53] I don't even know what I was thinking at the time that I made that

[00:45:55] a suggestion.

[00:45:56] I think I was just like in the middle of finishing rewatching the last season

[00:45:58] of succession and I was like, that was such a good show.

[00:46:01] What if they were on the enterprise?

[00:46:02] What if they were on the Titan and those are the people you're coming

[00:46:05] across because I could see, I get the Klingon one.

[00:46:08] I definitely could see like Logan Roy as being like an Admiral that's

[00:46:11] there to do the survey even, like kind of the card roll.

[00:46:15] Right?

[00:46:16] But like Shiv would be best suited.

[00:46:23] I could see her being in the medical area.

[00:46:27] It'd be like, you know, because she could have her own control

[00:46:31] and power over there.

[00:46:33] Yeah.

[00:46:33] Whereas like the eldest brother, the one from Connor.

[00:46:38] Connor, he he's such.

[00:46:43] Like he'd be he'd be the one who would be like trying to like take

[00:46:48] the on board Android and use it to make himself powerful, but it's

[00:46:52] so like corrupted and he's because he's just so desperate to be like,

[00:46:57] look at me, look at me.

[00:46:58] And he'd be like always like trying to like he'd be like Barclay

[00:47:01] in a way of like this awkward like trying to do something

[00:47:04] and get some self killed.

[00:47:06] You know what I mean?

[00:47:06] Yeah, soon.

[00:47:08] Like when I found that photo when I got that photo taken with Alan

[00:47:11] Ruck who played Connor, I was remembering when I got that it was

[00:47:16] I think what did I say?

[00:47:16] It was like 10 years ago or it was like 2012 or 2013 at like a fan

[00:47:21] expo in Vancouver.

[00:47:23] And I remember it being like we went in the evening and it was dead

[00:47:26] quiet and there was no one there in line to see him.

[00:47:28] And Brad was like just waiting and I got my ticket and I remember

[00:47:33] like going in and going like this.

[00:47:34] I was like, Oh my God.

[00:47:35] Like I was so excited and he was like, Hey, he's like, thank you so much.

[00:47:39] He was so stoked that I was so stoked.

[00:47:42] I'm like, you're awesome.

[00:47:43] I was I was more starstruck by him than I had been anybody from Star Trek.

[00:47:48] Like I don't know why.

[00:47:50] I think it was because I love the movie Speed so much

[00:47:53] and Ferris Bueller's Day off and I just never would have thought

[00:47:55] of him as anybody until I was he was the guy on the bus.

[00:47:58] He was like, I'm a tourist.

[00:48:00] I sat on God.

[00:48:02] God damn it.

[00:48:03] Yes. Oh, darn.

[00:48:05] The passengers on that bus.

[00:48:08] I hated them all actually.

[00:48:10] So anyway, it's fine.

[00:48:11] The old lady on the bus that falls off.

[00:48:14] Yes, you know, in real life, her daughter is the Mary Chifo,

[00:48:19] the Klingon from Discovery.

[00:48:21] Oh my God. Yeah.

[00:48:24] Well, sorry about her mom blowing up after she fell off the bus

[00:48:27] or whatever. I was rewatching that movie the other day.

[00:48:29] It's so fucking good.

[00:48:30] That movie is good.

[00:48:32] There's a gap in the road up ahead.

[00:48:33] Pretty big.

[00:48:35] So good.

[00:48:37] We got our stop bag.

[00:48:39] Jeff Daniels knows what's going to happen.

[00:48:41] Love, Jeff Daniels.

[00:48:43] Yeah, so good.

[00:48:45] Well.

[00:48:47] Is that it?

[00:48:48] Good.

[00:48:49] That's yeah, I mean, I'm looking forward to watching the next episode.

[00:48:53] I'm like looking forward to rewatching the rest of the season.

[00:48:57] And like, it's going to be great.

[00:49:00] And the sun will come out tomorrow, as I like to say.

[00:49:04] It's trying to do something right now.

[00:49:06] But it's just like, I don't know.

[00:49:10] I've never seen that.

[00:49:12] Are you going to watch the final season of Discovery?

[00:49:15] It's supposed to be airing pretty soon.

[00:49:19] I don't think so.

[00:49:20] I didn't watch the last season.

[00:49:24] No, I don't think so.

[00:49:26] I will watch Stranger Worlds as soon as it comes out for sure.

[00:49:30] Yes, that was good.

[00:49:32] Yeah, it was so good.

[00:49:34] I'm into that.

[00:49:34] I was like, I was actually quite upset that, wait, what was,

[00:49:38] were they impacted by the strike?

[00:49:40] I think they were.

[00:49:40] I mean, everybody was.

[00:49:42] But I seem to remember thinking like, oh, fuck, like.

[00:49:45] Yeah, it's going to be a long time.

[00:49:46] Yeah, yeah.

[00:49:48] Lawn order bounce back nice and fast.

[00:49:51] Yeah, it did.

[00:49:52] Let my lawn order, Lawn Order Toronto starts at the end of the month.

[00:49:55] There's a new Lawn Order series, Toronto.

[00:49:58] Is it still Dick Wolf?

[00:50:00] Yeah, Wolf Dick.

[00:50:01] Yeah. Yeah, say Wolf Dick.

[00:50:03] So bad.

[00:50:04] So good.

[00:50:05] I might give it a shot, but probably not.

[00:50:08] No, no.

[00:50:10] You don't have cable.

[00:50:11] Oh yeah, that's right.

[00:50:12] So I wouldn't I didn't even know

[00:50:14] if you haven't been able to watch Lawn Order in a long while.

[00:50:16] Organized crime is good.

[00:50:18] I like organized crime.

[00:50:19] Like Stabler.

[00:50:22] He's still got it going on.

[00:50:24] Yeah, he does.

[00:50:26] Chris Maloney.

[00:50:29] Tony Baloney.

[00:50:30] Oh, it's good to see you.

[00:50:32] Good to see you too.

[00:50:34] I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

[00:50:36] Thanks. I'm actually going to head downtown.

[00:50:39] I'm meeting my brother and my mom for an iMacs at seven.

[00:50:43] I'm picking John up at like 645 at the Hela Jet.

[00:50:46] What?

[00:50:46] Coming back from Vancouver.

[00:50:47] We're going to go see it's a whale one.

[00:50:50] And then there's like a Q&A with like some whale.

[00:50:53] I'm like, I hope it's going to be hard to fit it in there.

[00:50:57] So I think it's about it's about a blue whale, but I'm not sure.

[00:51:00] But anyway, Star Trek 4 voyage home.

[00:51:03] Could you imagine? It's that whale.

[00:51:07] Yeah, that's what I'm going to do.

[00:51:08] So I guess I'm going to do that.

[00:51:10] And I hope you have a lovely rest of your day.

[00:51:13] John's mom and sister are on their way tomorrow.

[00:51:16] That's so I am.

[00:51:18] It's it's going to be a busy place, but it's big.

[00:51:22] So yeah, fine.

[00:51:25] And this is when they show up to stay for a month.

[00:51:28] Yeah. So his sister is staying for two weeks

[00:51:31] and I'm staying until the end of March.

[00:51:33] So we're going to to Fino on the weekend for like four nights.

[00:51:37] It's going to be more of this rain just fine.

[00:51:40] And then, yeah.

[00:51:44] Good visit.

[00:51:45] They're so like easy and fun and we'll play a lot of cards.

[00:51:48] And like we won't.

[00:51:49] Yeah, like we got a new table today.

[00:51:54] Oh, Danish teak midsummer modern.

[00:51:58] Yeah. So and we got table chairs.

[00:52:01] And so yeah, we'll be it's got that's got just one leaf in it.

[00:52:05] So it's normally quite like a small circle.

[00:52:08] And then it's got another leaf.

[00:52:09] So it makes it actually like seven feet long

[00:52:10] so we can have nice six or eight people.

[00:52:13] Where'd you get that?

[00:52:15] We got it off of Facebook Marketplace

[00:52:17] from a guy that like refinished his stuff in Oak Bay.

[00:52:20] What's his savings?

[00:52:23] Oh, it's his birthday tomorrow.

[00:52:25] Rip. Oh, Rip Van Winkle.

[00:52:28] So sad. Yeah.

[00:52:29] All right.

[00:52:30] Still can't finish his diary if he's too grumpy.

[00:52:33] Can't even.

[00:52:34] He is so insufferable.

[00:52:36] Not interested.

[00:52:36] Not over it.

[00:52:38] Yeah, that's it.
