The All-Outtake Episode!
2023 was a sad, sad year. The traditional year-end Outtakes Super Edit didn't happen as planned and the dozen of Trek Geeks fans everywhere were crestfallen that their holidays suddenly had no meaning whatsoever.
Bill and Dan have decided to make up for it this week with an entire episode about NOTHING! Now, now...calm down, Andy Fark. We know you're gonna say, "EVERY episode is about nothing," and, while you might be right, this one is even more nothinger. So THERE. Take that, doodoohead.
So, this episode is what happens when Bill and Dan have no plan at all. There's some Star Trek in this episode, so all is not lost. However, if you want to hear the origins of the phrases "turkey neck" and "man up or s*it in your hat" in their lives, then be sure to listen all the way through.

[00:00:27] at fansets.com. Fansets, our pin set character. Go!
[00:00:37] Go! I gotta get into the zone to do this you can't just scream at me go.
[00:00:43] Well maybe I was screaming at the listeners to go to fansets.com
[00:00:46] so you don't know it could be either way. You looked right at me.
[00:00:50] I was yelling at you. Yeah you were.
[00:00:52] Yeah you were.
[00:00:53] Yeah. Hi this is John Billingsley, Dr. Phil Flockx from Star Trek Enterprise. Now I'm reading
[00:01:02] something that was written for me and I think they could have done better so this is not me,
[00:01:07] this is them. My prescription for you is a healthy dose of the Trek Geeks Podcast
[00:01:14] starring Dan Davidson and Bill he could have done better Smith it truly is the best medicine.
[00:01:22] Oh come on boys and here's how they close it doctors orders shame Tisk Tisk
[00:01:30] for the record that was Dan Davidson that wrote that. That was me.
[00:01:34] Wow. That's even better because now it's forever blamed on Bill.
[00:01:38] That's forever blamed on Bill. Thank you Mr. Bakula.
[00:01:44] All right.
[00:02:22] We're not here neither of us. We're in a menagerie of a cage.
[00:02:36] From the Potpourri division of Podfleet Command it's the biggest little show this side of the
[00:02:39] Alpha Quadrant and the flagship of the Trek Geeks Podcast. Let's work greetings to you
[00:02:43] Jeopardy enthusiasts all across the galaxy and welcome to the Trek Geeks Podcast. I'm
[00:02:48] your co-host Bill Smith and we have a fun one on tap today it's an episode where we have not
[00:02:54] planned a damn thing and we're going to see how the hell we get through this and by we I do mean
[00:03:00] my inestimable co-host and myself. I say inestimable because I cannot estimate how dumb he is.
[00:03:11] He is the largely annoying Dan Davidson and Dan. Skye's the limit today brother.
[00:03:17] Skye is the limit. You already said Jeopardy so I'm thinking when Alex
[00:03:19] Preveck was in insurrection but that's the story for another time. Yeah you said this to me a few
[00:03:24] weeks back when we were getting ready to sign off on our last podcast and we don't have a topic.
[00:03:30] We're just doing one whole episode that we're dubbing as our outtake episode. It's not a
[00:03:37] collection of outtakes from past episodes it's just we're just talking about whatever.
[00:03:41] Could be Star Trek. Could be cake. We don't know it's just going to be talking about anything.
[00:03:47] Cake is great so I think it's a fantastic idea it's fun the listeners seem to enjoy our outtakes
[00:03:52] so we said why not make it a full episode and just just blab. Blab. Well you know at the end of
[00:03:58] every year we usually do the outtake specials where we do the outtakes collected from the
[00:04:02] year and last year we didn't really do very many episodes so we thought that this would be
[00:04:06] kind of a way to make up for that in a sense but also to give people a new experience because I
[00:04:14] think that part of the reason people listen is because they feel like they're part of the
[00:04:21] conversation. They feel like they're part of our friendship to some extent and our outtakes are
[00:04:27] some of the most popular aspects of the show. Because it shows your incredible genius and
[00:04:34] my incredible stupidity I know what you're going to say isn't that just during the regular part
[00:04:38] of the episodes too. No I was going to say well that's pretty much a hallmark of your life.
[00:04:45] Thank you very much. Without the outtake we wouldn't have coconut, we wouldn't have NPR radio,
[00:04:52] we wouldn't have Bing Bong. Yeah, Bing Bong is a big one. There's a whole bunch of things
[00:04:59] that kind of pepper in this podcast that we would not have if we didn't have the outtake segment.
[00:05:05] Love pepper. So for those of you discovering track cakes for the first time, this really is
[00:05:10] a Star Trek podcast. Guarantee it we've got 311 other episodes that are about Star Trek.
[00:05:15] Pretty much. But after the end theme music every episode there is an outtake and it's
[00:05:24] it used to be like 2-3 minutes and now it's more like 15-20 minutes of
[00:05:28] pre-show banter between Dan and I before we actually sit down to record
[00:05:33] track cakes and it's not scripted in any way. Anything that comes up in the
[00:05:38] outtake is a complete surprise to the other person. It is. And it's some of the best
[00:05:43] fun we've ever had recording this show. That's what this entire episode is going to be.
[00:05:51] It's kind of like a Marvel movie. If you're starting here, it really is.
[00:05:55] If you're starting here you might want to back up an episode to 311 and have some
[00:05:59] Star Trek content before you enter this. Exactly. I'm sure we're going to talk some
[00:06:03] Star Trek during our episode today but if you're starting with this please excuse our
[00:06:09] mental illness. Because I definitely have one. Can you just probably can just say
[00:06:14] that for the other 311 too can't you? Yeah probably. I'll put it on the edge for those though.
[00:06:19] There you go. Very good. Nice. I can joke about it.
[00:06:22] It's funny. I'm looking at the calendar. I got a Star Trek desk calendar for Christmas.
[00:06:26] Just one of those ones that has 3M65 page. Oh yeah.
[00:06:29] Just rip off one every day and I haven't ripped off yesterday because it's just
[00:06:31] awesome is Jeffrey Combs, Wei-Yun staring at me. The Dominion.
[00:06:37] Which Wei-Yun? Oh. Does it say which episode? It doesn't. It just says
[00:06:42] Jeffrey Combs as Wei-Yun in Star Trek Deep Space Nine. There he is.
[00:06:47] You can't see him. I think that's the first one.
[00:06:49] It's still awesome. He does have, looks like it is outside. He does have a yellow shirt in the
[00:06:54] background. Yeah. Based on the uniform. Yeah. Yeah. Nice catch.
[00:07:01] See there's the Star Trek for us. That's it. Totally getting.
[00:07:05] So there actually is like Star Trek things to talk about.
[00:07:11] Obviously you saw section 31 is wrapped filming. Yes.
[00:07:14] People wondered about the teaser image that was leaked,
[00:07:20] which looked pretty good. It looks like a yo. I adore Michelle Yo.
[00:07:23] I love her. Love her so much. She looks fantastic in that picture.
[00:07:28] I still wish we could have gotten Prime, Giorgio in her own show for more than
[00:07:35] an episode and a half. Yeah. I know.
[00:07:38] Kills me. It does. Well, it got killed so it makes sense.
[00:07:42] But honestly, she may not have gotten an Oscar at that point if she had done a long
[00:07:46] commitment to a Star Trek show. That's true. We now have an Oscar winner as the major
[00:07:52] part person in a Star Trek film. Pretty cool. I believe we've had an Oscar winner as a villain.
[00:08:00] We have. Yeah. I'm pretty sure Plummer won an Oscar. But I mean...
[00:08:04] I wasn't talking about him. No, we're talking about his direction.
[00:08:06] We're talking about his direction. Yeah.
[00:08:07] Yeah. F. Murray Abraham.
[00:08:09] But yeah, but he's not top billing. He wasn't top billing at that.
[00:08:11] I'm just saying we've had Oscar winners in Trek.
[00:08:14] Yes, he won for Amadeus, didn't he?
[00:08:17] He did. Yeah. Wow. I've never seen the movie, but they will pull that one on my Keeter.
[00:08:23] It's a good movie. I mean, it's almost 40 years old now because I believe it came out in 85.
[00:08:29] And I think he won Best Actor in 85 or 84. One of the two. I can't remember which.
[00:08:36] And this is not a spoiler because it's out there. So I'm going to say it.
[00:08:39] One of the things that I read, which I found very interesting is we don't know really what time
[00:08:45] this movie is going to take place in. But apparently Rachel Garrett is going to be a character,
[00:08:50] the captain of the Enterprise C. So that was very interesting to read.
[00:08:54] Don't know if it's true. Well, actually, I think it is true.
[00:08:57] It is true. They wrote about it is true. But
[00:08:59] don't know how that's going to play in. It's going to be very interesting. This will be now
[00:09:03] the second time that she has been referenced in a Star Trek series other than in yesterday's
[00:09:08] Enterprise. That's too bad.
[00:09:14] Well, people are saying that this is like, you know, it takes place in the lost years.
[00:09:20] And I kind of forgot one all about that novel. I don't know how I could have
[00:09:24] because it's a fantastic novel. It is. I'll think the three of them. All three of them are great.
[00:09:28] Yeah, yeah. That's what I mean. The series of novels. But
[00:09:33] people are right. This is really kind of the first expansion into the lost years,
[00:09:37] even though it's section 31. So we'll see. I'll tell you what, though, whatever that person is
[00:09:43] and whatever that Geary's got on his head, that was pretty cool in that picture.
[00:09:47] I wonder if we'll see Pike in the wheelchair. Oh, I don't think you're going to say that.
[00:09:55] That was cool. Oh, that's a great idea. Yeah, because it's during the lost years.
[00:10:00] Yeah. Kirk is already in command of the Enterprise. Very interesting.
[00:10:04] Interesting. At least we presume it's during the lost years. Right.
[00:10:10] The ones after TOS season three and before next gen. Or I should say after TAS season two.
[00:10:17] And right. I get you. Yeah. Other Star Trek news might as well just get right
[00:10:24] on. I'll start to news right off the bat. We're like a week away from Discovery season five.
[00:10:30] We are. Yeah, which is a final season. It is hard to believe.
[00:10:38] I haven't been able to watch any of the... We get the screeners. I know that you've watched some.
[00:10:42] I haven't been able to watch any because when I was talking about it with two,
[00:10:47] she never watched the rest of season four. She stopped at some point.
[00:10:51] But she hasn't seen the rest of season four and I kind of want her to see the rest of
[00:10:55] season four before we start season five. But everybody knows my take on season four was kind
[00:10:59] of like gone. So she's not overly excited to start it either. So hopefully we'll get it
[00:11:05] going pretty soon. I think so. I mean, I've rewatched season four since
[00:11:12] and I still have the same opinion of it. Again, for those who may forget,
[00:11:19] we're not Discovery haters by any means. No, God. No, not at all. Love Discovery.
[00:11:23] We don't hate any of the new Star Trek that's been created since 2017.
[00:11:27] We're big fans. But neither of us were really satisfied by season four because
[00:11:33] we thought it was about seven episodes too long. And I had many issues with some of the writing
[00:11:41] decisions. I'm not saying it was written poorly. I just questioned some of the
[00:11:45] decisions they made like giving the big moment with the aliens to book and not burn them.
[00:11:51] Instead of Captain, right? And you're right. It was it was too long.
[00:11:56] I always kind of bristle at people that say, oh, Star Trek movies or Star Trek shows
[00:12:00] shouldn't have all these big space battles. It's more than that. I like the space battles.
[00:12:05] I think they're great. Special effects are awesome. I love seeing them.
[00:12:09] Kirk was firing phasers every other week. Thank you. Just because the special effects
[00:12:13] weren't great doesn't mean look at the look at the special effects and Picard season three
[00:12:18] in the in the row episode. I mean, that that that image of that Starship coming up from your bottom
[00:12:23] of your screen in the middle of just about the heart of that firefight is incredible.
[00:12:27] You can have that and it's still as good as any other Star Trek. But you're right.
[00:12:33] If you don't have that and you're putting in stuff that isn't is questionable writing that
[00:12:38] we've talked about or it's just kind of slow, it makes a season drag. That's what happened to
[00:12:44] me before. Yeah, no, I don't disagree. I'm looking forward to season five. I think it's different
[00:12:49] in tone. I know that based on other articles that have been published, they focus and they do take
[00:12:57] feedback from fans very seriously. And there was one fan that wrote a great piece about
[00:13:05] disaster fatigue and Star Trek Discovery. And I think his name was Bill Smith.
[00:13:11] And I'm not taking credit for season five, but it's definitely a pivot from what they were doing.
[00:13:17] Yeah. That's how many episodes are you in?
[00:13:20] I've not even finished the first episode because I'm busy packing.
[00:13:24] Yeah, that's something we're going to talk about. Absolutely.
[00:13:27] So you've seen photos of my desk, right?
[00:13:29] I have.
[00:13:30] So nobody at home can see this, but maybe I'll take a photo of it later. But
[00:13:33] it was covered with Trek stuff.
[00:13:36] Trek stuff. Yep.
[00:13:38] That whole top shelf is empty.
[00:13:40] Completely empty. Wow, you've been doing good job packing.
[00:13:46] So still lots to go. The roll-off dumpster gets delivered Monday.
[00:13:53] And not a lot of time, my friend.
[00:13:55] Oh, we got plenty of time.
[00:13:56] Tell people what's going on because I'm sure some people have heard or haven't heard of it.
[00:13:59] So my wife and I bought a house in North Carolina.
[00:14:04] Congratulations. Get the hell out of here.
[00:14:07] Thank you. It's a wonderful little town about 45 minutes east of Raleigh.
[00:14:15] It's kind of an up and coming area. Some of the areas that people were looking at and moving to
[00:14:24] before the pandemic really have gone up significantly in price
[00:14:27] since the pandemic and during the pandemic.
[00:14:30] And now there's sort of a next area of towns that are
[00:14:34] the next sort of round of towns that are up and coming.
[00:14:40] And so we found a great house and a development that our realtor actually added to our list of
[00:14:45] ones to see. And it turns out it's our dream house. It's got everything we wanted.
[00:14:50] The one.
[00:14:51] It was the one. And we are so psyched. So we are moving April 25th.
[00:14:58] That's right. That's less than a month away. Yeah, North Carolina is like the largest
[00:15:02] growing state in the United States right now. So you're adding to that statistic.
[00:15:06] So congratulations, man. I know that you've wanted to get out of New England for a long time.
[00:15:11] I've wanted it for a long time. And I'm sure you're going to just have a great time down there.
[00:15:16] You and the Mrs. and the Pup.
[00:15:17] It does check a whole lot of boxes. I have... Well, it's no secret. I've never liked winter.
[00:15:24] Not even as a kid. So for 50 plus years, I have wanted not to live in New Hampshire.
[00:15:31] The three years I didn't live in New Hampshire, I lived in Denver. And that was just EDSE on my part.
[00:15:37] It gave me some lifelong friendships, but the weather was just drier. It wasn't any less snowy.
[00:15:47] But now this is... After the last few New England winter, especially last year,
[00:15:51] it was bitterly cold for so long. We had that weekend where it was 50 below zero.
[00:15:57] I know. I'm sure you remember. Yeah. That was fun.
[00:15:59] We decided we were both done. So yeah, in less than a month, we will be in the new house.
[00:16:08] And we can't wait. We closed this week. Yes, congratulations.
[00:16:12] Saw that. Thank you. We are officially homeowners.
[00:16:14] Look at that. Get out of here, you silly.
[00:16:19] Now we're going through 14 years worth of junk we haven't looked at.
[00:16:23] Oh, that's nice.
[00:16:23] And that's why the roll-off dumpster is being delivered on Monday.
[00:16:26] That's going to be a lot. That's going to be a full dumpster, I'm thinking.
[00:16:30] Could be 15 cubic yards. Yeah.
[00:16:34] Well, it's quite an accomplishment. Congratulations on the two of you owning a home
[00:16:38] together for the first time. That's really great. I know how excited I was when Sue and I did it.
[00:16:44] So yeah, it's going to be great. It's going to be a lot of fun. Get things set up. Decorating.
[00:16:48] Decorating is always great. Of course, you're going to have the pooch to have her new
[00:16:52] backyard to run around in. So that's pretty cool. I'm very excited for you, man. That's great.
[00:16:57] Congratulations. That's the other thing too with a dog that does not like other dogs.
[00:17:03] We have, for those who don't know, we adopted a senior American Staffordshire slash Pit Bull mix
[00:17:11] two years ago when after our dog Abby passed away. And she's a 50-pound dog, Isabella.
[00:17:18] She is not people aggressive in any way. She adores people, as you have found out firsthand.
[00:17:25] But she does not like other dogs, period. I mean, it's not good. So I would rather have that problem
[00:17:32] than the opposite, quite frankly. True. But we want her to have her own yard because we live
[00:17:37] in a townhouse condo development and people don't care how dogs they're close get to other
[00:17:44] dogs or sometimes even if they're on leash. Right. And that's not good for Isabella.
[00:17:49] So we want her to have her own space. We want us to have our own space with no people against our
[00:17:55] walls. And so it's happening finally. There you go. That's awesome. Speaking of dogs,
[00:18:04] this week was very special for us as well. Of course, people out of listened to the show
[00:18:08] know that our sweet Cali passed away two December's ago and Ari is getting up there in age. Ari is
[00:18:14] almost 11. And we've been going back and forth for a year of whether or not we were going to get
[00:18:20] another dog. We didn't know if we wanted her to have all of the attention and love that,
[00:18:25] or if we wanted to have a friend for her because whenever we go down to Donna and Chris's,
[00:18:30] she and Lily are just separable. Yeah. Best friends. So we've looked at a couple
[00:18:34] dogs and we've always said if we're going to get another dog, we want to make sure that it's
[00:18:37] perfect for Ari. It's not for us. I mean, of course, we want to like it also, but
[00:18:42] we want to make sure that Ari is comfortable. So we've had a couple of visits with other
[00:18:46] rescues and met a couple dogs and Ari just was not into it. They were too young. They were too
[00:18:53] poppy-ish, too much energy. And of course, Ari is kind of, we call it the old maid from
[00:18:57] time to time because she likes to chill out just for right after a wonderful first 10 years.
[00:19:04] But a couple weeks ago, my dear friend Jen and who was a good friend of Sue's now,
[00:19:08] who I went to. I was best friends with Jen growing up and during high school years,
[00:19:12] she runs a puppy sitting place up in a past Manchester. Heather is Finn and fur.
[00:19:22] Take a cool name. No. Anyway, we've always brought our dogs there. She posted something to
[00:19:26] us on Facebook a couple of weeks ago about a lab that was looking for a rescue
[00:19:31] and had been in a foster for several months. And we said, you know what? Let's go check it out. Jen
[00:19:36] was actually watching the dog. So we went and checked it out with Ari. They hit it off immediately.
[00:19:41] She is the most beautiful little thing. Her name is Miley. She's a lab mix. She's about one and a
[00:19:47] half. And the sad thing is she was actually born at the rescue facility.
[00:19:54] Oh, wow.
[00:19:55] A year and two years ago. Oh, my goodness. Yeah. The mother was brought in and had a litter of nine
[00:20:02] and she is one of two that had yet to be adopted in just two years. So she's been in a foster home
[00:20:09] for six months with an incredible person, Laura, here ever six months. And we had our Guchaday
[00:20:15] this past week. She's out of our house. She's a sweetheart. She's very nervous. She's very shy.
[00:20:21] But she's extremely loving and Aria and her just get along great. So we're very excited
[00:20:30] and we're going to give her the life that she deserves instead of being
[00:20:34] in different homes or shelters for her life to be here and we love her to death.
[00:20:40] Well, and here's the thing too that a lot of people don't realize. And I know this
[00:20:43] since my wife started volunteering for a rescue, the same one we got Isabella from.
[00:20:48] And that's that black dogs are usually among the last to be adopted
[00:20:55] for whatever reason. I'm not sure why it is. But you guys have given a sweet little black dog
[00:21:01] a home and Kelly and I couldn't be happier for you guys or for Miley. So she's come into a good
[00:21:07] home and she's going to have nothing but love for as long as she's with you guys.
[00:21:12] And I know that for a fact. It's funny. You've been in my house so you know
[00:21:14] that we have the open concept from the kitchen of the dining room into the living room.
[00:21:17] Yep. And this her safe place because she's still getting used to everything is the dining room.
[00:21:22] So she like walks around the dining room table like all day and she'll she'll she'll
[00:21:28] she'll start to she goes into the kitchen a little bit. She'll go into the living room
[00:21:31] a little bit. We've had her upstairs and she's been in here in the studio podcast studio office
[00:21:37] a couple of times we've actually coaxed her up. But her safe place right now is the dining.
[00:21:42] She's actually slept there both nights at her. At least on the dining rug.
[00:21:47] Eventually she'll come into the bedroom on the bed with us. We don't have any
[00:21:52] restrictions for our dogs there. Right. They're the family so they can be on the furniture and
[00:21:57] she's so cute. She the only thing I can describe it. And I just posted something on Facebook
[00:22:01] today so people can take a look and see her picture. Her ears look like bat wings
[00:22:07] when she has them fully extended. She's like that dog.
[00:22:12] What you need to do is capture some video of that and then post it as like an Instagram reel
[00:22:17] with the music from Batman that goes... I like that idea. I can do that.
[00:22:23] Thank you. Thank you. So yeah we're very happy. We're very excited. And Lily my sister's dog
[00:22:29] will be meeting her tomorrow. And I'm sure that's going to go well dude.
[00:22:33] Because she's very laid back as well. So yeah we're very excited to have a new member of
[00:22:38] the family. We've only had not had a dog once in our entire relationship. And that was when
[00:22:48] she had two dogs when we first started seeing each other. Max passed away fairly soon after
[00:22:54] we started dating and then Madeline passed away. And then there was like a month where
[00:23:00] we didn't have any dog. And then finally my dad who we got theory for when he was going
[00:23:05] through his cancer treatment said you know what take theory up to Maine be with the kids have a good
[00:23:08] life with kids and family. So that month was absolute hell. We could not stand it. We will never
[00:23:15] not have a dog again. Yeah. It's just we're dog people and so we're glad to have two again.
[00:23:21] We actually had three at one point then we had two then one now we're back up to two.
[00:23:25] So I don't think we're going to go to three again because that's a lot.
[00:23:28] But I could never foster either man. I could I would I don't I'll give them Laura and all the
[00:23:35] other fosters in the world hats off to you guys because I could never do it if I was a foster
[00:23:41] I'd probably own 600 dogs because I would never give them I'd never want to give them up.
[00:23:45] You hear about foster fails all the time and that's where the foster adopts the dog.
[00:23:49] Yes. And I totally understand I think it takes a special breed of person
[00:23:53] to foster a dog because they give them all this love and and you know acclimate them to an environment
[00:24:00] that is counter to what they've known and then they willingly say goodbye to them.
[00:24:05] Right. I'm like you I couldn't do it.
[00:24:08] But I couldn't do it and Laura actually told us that you know she like I said she's been with
[00:24:14] my league for six months and she actually said you know she felt good about everything with
[00:24:19] our talks and our visits but if we decided that we had not going to take her she was going to adopt
[00:24:26] she was okay so she would have been she would have been taken care of no matter what but
[00:24:30] now greedily she's ours and I'm very happy. Well that is awesome certainly a reason to celebrate.
[00:24:37] We probably should celebrate some friends of ours and do a little business with America
[00:24:42] and then we'll come back and talk about nothing how's that sound?
[00:24:44] I like that idea nothing is good. Your face is nothing.
[00:24:51] Dan of course we want to take a moment to thank our friends our dear dear friends at fansets
[00:24:56] for being the presenting sponsor of Trek Geeks.

[00:25:48] baby that's what they do. I don't know why you wrote that copy it just made me want to sing it

[00:26:41] got friends of fansets for being the present a sponsor TREKGeek. You know I'm not moving to
[00:26:46] Alabama. Sorry. That's a you know a door am I going to like you know Savannah where it's kind of like
[00:26:56] molasses dripping out of your mouth. I just got done watching North and South. Yes, I just got
[00:27:02] what I just got done watching North and South so I've got like Southern accent syndrome going on
[00:27:06] right now. Well you get on it not that that's a bad thing. You get on it and finish the
[00:27:10] office crying out loud. Here's the thing I don't I watch it alone. No, no, no here's the thing
[00:27:17] everybody knows that I stitch is a hobby. I've been doing it for 20 years. Whenever I'm going to be
[00:27:22] doing that I don't want to put on something that I have to pay attention to because I'm paying
[00:27:29] attention to what I'm working on so if I have something on that I've seen before and I'm watching
[00:27:35] it's easier for me to concentrate on the stitching. I'm dying over here the
[00:27:38] idea that you pay attention to anything is really kind of foreign. You've seen the fantastic work
[00:27:42] that I do. You have some of the fantastic work that I do. Did you imagine what that Delta would
[00:27:47] look like if I was watching the office? I think that it's probably very easy for you to follow
[00:27:55] a pattern and get into his own. I get that but you can't even pay attention when you're
[00:28:01] walking down the hallway. So, see I didn't say I didn't disagree with you.
[00:28:08] Good because there are witnesses. Yes, I do know I have to finish watching the office. I do.
[00:28:15] Yeah, you do. Well, it's my wife I think might murder you. Okay.
[00:28:20] Dude, you don't piss off a Boston girl. It's okay to not be afraid of me.
[00:28:26] You should be afraid of her. You're going to be a thousand miles away. What do I care?
[00:28:29] Dude, she can probably bench you. I'm not doubting that at all but from there it's going to be hard
[00:28:37] to do because I- Which means she will have no problem dragging your body into a place where
[00:28:42] nobody will find it. Sue always says that she's going to take my body up to northern Maine and
[00:28:46] hang it from a tree. Wow, this got dark. Yeah, I know right? What did Sue watch when you're not
[00:28:52] around? Like in one of those towns that doesn't have a name it's like a Borg designation. It's
[00:28:57] T77. That's what northern Maine is like. TK421, why don't you at your post?
[00:29:03] Yep, she said that once. I mean we'd only been going- we'd only been together for a year or
[00:29:07] something like that. She said that and I'm like, what? Her true colors came out when she
[00:29:14] finally realized what you were about. Yeah, it makes me- it's total tangent since I saw
[00:29:19] an eagle. It makes me think of one of our favorite quotes from my youngest Becca,
[00:29:26] my youngest daughter Becca. When she was a little kid- now let me set the stage. When we would be
[00:29:31] driving somewhere it was always Max behind me and Becca behind Sue and I always drive.
[00:29:38] For this time for whatever reason it was reversed. Becca was behind me and Becca was,
[00:29:43] I don't know, five, six, seven years, six years old at the most and she's kicking the back of
[00:29:48] my chair. She's kicking the back of my chair. And finally I said Becca, if you don't stop kicking
[00:29:56] the back of my chair I'm gonna stop this car, I'm gonna cut your legs off and I'm gonna hang them on
[00:30:03] the windshield wipers. And I'm looking at Sue and Sue's just like smirking and there's like
[00:30:10] just 20 seconds of silence then Becca goes, well if you do that you'll have to carry me around
[00:30:15] with my bloody legs. This got really dark. That's our favorite quote from her because she just-
[00:30:23] it was awesome. She stopped kicking. I should hope so. In fairness you are a big horror fan.
[00:30:35] I am, yes. I do like the whores. I haven't watched one in a long time but I do like them.
[00:30:40] I watch one every time I record with you. I walk right into that rake.
[00:30:48] There was one other Star Trek story this week that really kind of got
[00:30:54] Trek Twitter, I can't call it Trek X because that's just Trek Twitter into a bit of an uproar and
[00:30:59] that is that season two of Star Trek Prodigy has been released in French on the France.tv
[00:31:06] website. I saw that. Leading some people to believe whether it was a mistake or whether it was a new
[00:31:14] partnership or whatever, the story was leaked by one Star Trek site that we do not use for news
[00:31:21] because we think it's garbage and it has since at least been- I don't want to say semi-confirmed
[00:31:30] by the Hagemen's that it does appear to be some kind of release but they don't really have any
[00:31:34] information on it. Interesting. Yeah, so it's normally what happens is that when Paramount or
[00:31:45] when it was CBS struck up a partnership for distribution, it was announced and there was
[00:31:49] a press release that both parties involved in the transaction could send out to their
[00:31:55] viewership or to trade in the industry to announce the partnership for distribution
[00:32:01] and that did not happen in this case. There was one podcast which I believe is in French,
[00:32:09] I could be wrong, that gave an audio confirmation from somebody at France TV but
[00:32:17] I took the stance and the stance that a lot of people take as well until it's announced by
[00:32:21] Paramount. That means nothing because who knows who that person is. Right.
[00:32:28] So it's a really weird situation for once the US is not getting a Star Trek first and that's fine
[00:32:37] but it would have been nice if Paramount had had enough
[00:32:42] intelligence to actually announce the damn thing. Well, look at- I hate to speak
[00:32:48] you will but they were stupid enough to cancel it so are you surprised? I mean come on,
[00:32:53] I mean Prodigy is phenomenal. It is Star Trek in its truest form and some f-ing being counter
[00:33:01] decided that it wasn't worth it because it's a streaming service and they needed to clean up
[00:33:08] their bottom line so they act one of the most popular series that's been out there.
[00:33:12] It's just ludicrous. That's been always a source spot with me. I'm so glad that Netflix
[00:33:16] picked it up and that the incredible writing, animators, special effects, voiceover actors like
[00:33:23] our dear friend Bonnie will be able to see have their work from season two seen by everybody when
[00:33:31] it gets released on Netflix at some point but yeah that's- yeah. I can only hope they order a
[00:33:36] season three you know but here's the other thing too is that it doesn't appear that France is
[00:33:43] promoting it. Yeah, hasn't that- I mean if I hadn't seen just that I didn't really- I don't go on to X
[00:33:49] anymore because it's just a pile of crap but I did see something about it and I'm like oh that's
[00:33:54] really weird and I didn't dig any deeper into it. Yeah. But I haven't seen any major headlines
[00:34:00] about it anywhere either. I will say the same website that I criticized is the one that
[00:34:05] broke the story as far as I know they did have spoilers in the article with regard
[00:34:10] to episode names at least this is what I was told I didn't confirm it myself. At one point
[00:34:17] I believe the the Hagemen's were reaching out to other Twitter accounts asking them to take
[00:34:21] the story down until there was more information and this other website essentially didn't respond
[00:34:27] to the Hagemen's at all and just kept the story up. More class. They say they didn't
[00:34:31] ghost to them but they ghosted them. Yeah, that's too bad. We're looking forward to
[00:34:37] speaking to them at some point also. Yeah, we've talked to them- I've had several email
[00:34:42] exchanges with both of the Hagemen brothers and we're going to have them on at some point
[00:34:46] but we are going to be holding off until we do have that official Netflix release of
[00:34:52] season. We're going to have one talk all about all about Prodigy and all about their fandom which
[00:34:57] of course is huge so that'll be something to look forward to. I'm guessing it's probably not
[00:35:02] going to be until late this year if not 25 but that'll be great and I can't wait for season two.
[00:35:09] Season one was fantastic. I love season one it's infinitely rewatchable just like the rest of
[00:35:15] track and that's what tells me that it's amazing quite honestly. It was great because every time
[00:35:21] we've run into to Dan and Kevin Hagemen at a convention they have always stopped by,
[00:35:26] they've always said hi, we've gotten to the point where we get to give them grief and
[00:35:30] they give it back. You can tell they're fans, they're not just guys who produce
[00:35:37] insanely successful things. They're people, they're fans like we are and
[00:35:43] like every other fan they just want to share what they love about Star Trek and I think that's the
[00:35:47] best part. And I said it before one of the things that I love so much about quote-unquote
[00:35:52] new track and I'm not dogging or dissing legacy at all because I'm not the show legacy
[00:35:57] hopefully what happens but the old Star Trek that's one of the things that I love so much and
[00:36:02] I've said it several times. The people that are writing and running these shows,
[00:36:07] Harry and Alice is a perfect example. They're fans they love it. They want to make sure that
[00:36:12] it's the right stuff that we're seeing as fans and viewers of these series and
[00:36:18] they are no exception. They are huge fans of the Star Trek universe and it shows and season
[00:36:24] one was awesome and I just hope to God somehow John Noble is back.
[00:36:29] He's the best voice. I hope he's the best voice and I'll tell you what, one of the things that I'm
[00:36:35] always very sad that I didn't get to see is when we're in Vegas, we don't really have time to do
[00:36:40] go watch a lot of the things at the main stage. Yeah. Noble was at the convention two years ago
[00:36:47] when it was at the when it was a ballet and that's one thing that I wish I had been able
[00:36:53] to go to the main sitting area and watch him on stage talk. Just listening to his voice. He's
[00:36:58] like melted butter losing all over your body. He's awesome. There's a visual idea. I did not
[00:37:04] on purpose but yeah, I hope he's back. He's good. And here comes breakfast again. Hi.
[00:37:09] Hello breakfast. What are you doing there? I think of the Seinfeld episode when when Kramer like
[00:37:16] bathed in a hot tub of butter or something that like a turkey. Yeah. You know, it's really kind
[00:37:25] of tough and their days I appreciate what social media does for Trekkiks as a whole
[00:37:32] as a network and there are other days where I can't stay on social media. It's like, well,
[00:37:37] you guys are just marketing shields for CBS and not just us anyone who
[00:37:41] you know, that defends, you know, of the taking down stories about the prodigy season two release.
[00:37:50] And it's like we have been critical of CBS and Paramount so many times. We've talked about when
[00:37:56] we don't like things about particular episodes or particular episodes in general. And I'm going
[00:38:01] to come right out and say that since the merger, the the Faltaur pan, the refusion
[00:38:07] of CBS and Paramount nicely done. I like that. They clearly have their heads up their asses.
[00:38:12] Yeah. They don't know what they're doing. There's a difference between being critical,
[00:38:18] which we are, and respecting the IP, which we do. Right. Just because we respect the IP means
[00:38:24] we are going to do what they ask because we respect the IP unlike so many others that don't.
[00:38:32] So you can calling us, you know, shields for them is is BS because we respect the IP.
[00:38:39] But we have been very critical of some of the aspects and what you just said is very critical
[00:38:43] and it's also very true. It seems like the people that are making the decision right now
[00:38:47] having the slightest idea what Star Trek is or what has done for those company,
[00:38:53] both of them. And it's sad. Yeah, it's they don't I want to phrase this the right way.
[00:39:02] They didn't do a great job of promoting it. They did more than they done in the past
[00:39:08] with promoting Star Trek. But it seems like they never really understood the fandom. I'm not talking
[00:39:15] about licensing. I'm not talking about products. I'm talking about your sheer marketing. Right.
[00:39:21] It seems like they would market to all the wrong people. The one time I think they got it right
[00:39:26] was when they had Patrick Stewart come to STLV to announce that he was coming back as Picard.
[00:39:30] It didn't happen at a Comic Con. It didn't happen in a Wonder Con. It happened on Home
[00:39:35] Turf for Star Trek fans. Yeah. And it's still a moment that Star Trek fans talk about today.
[00:39:42] Present company included. Yeah. And I think it's just
[00:39:46] it's not great instead of, you know, there are tons of us out here, you know, who talk
[00:39:52] about Star Trek and YouTube shows about Star Trek and blog about Star Trek. And of podcasts
[00:39:58] who are essentially promoting their product for free. We don't get paid to do this.
[00:40:04] Certainly not by them. Not at all. And you would think they would make it easier
[00:40:11] for people to talk about it. Yes, they have given us access to their library of images
[00:40:17] for press releases. They've given us screeners to pre-advance episodes. That's really the
[00:40:24] extent of it. When it comes to we try to book talent for the first truck talks,
[00:40:30] we got such a hard time from them. And it's just it's unfortunate because ultimately
[00:40:36] we are doing their job. Right. I don't want to say for them because, you know, they do
[00:40:43] some of it. But we promote Star Trek with every single episode and they don't make it easy to
[00:40:52] to try to get guests. I don't think they understand how
[00:40:57] important thing and I'm not and I'm not patting ourselves on the back. I'm talking about as a
[00:41:02] whole how important podcasts for Star Trek are in terms of getting the word out there.
[00:41:09] Star Trek is probably one of the biggest categories for podcasts out of everything.
[00:41:15] I mean, you can go you can pull into a Google search for Star Trek podcast
[00:41:18] and you're going to get like 30 pages, if probably more. I mean, they're everywhere
[00:41:24] and you would think that they would make it a lot easier. I mean, just, you know, again,
[00:41:27] I don't want to be critical, but I will be a little bit. I'm I want to talk to the Hague.
[00:41:31] It's tomorrow. But the decision was made that it should wait till the release.
[00:41:37] By CBS PR. Yeah. By PR. We can talk. We don't have to talk about specific episodes of episode
[00:41:43] two. We can season two. We can talk about everything in season one and what their thought
[00:41:47] processes for some of the decisions that were made during that season. Yeah. And we should be
[00:41:52] clear the Hague men's didn't make that decision. Right, correct. It was it was paramount PR.
[00:41:56] Absolutely. Yeah. I think I think Dan, I would like drive up to the hamstrings.
[00:42:00] Talk. They probably would. Yeah.
[00:42:03] It's I understand that they want to do things the right way. They want to
[00:42:07] provide a bounce to certain things. And believe me, I understand that this is a
[00:42:11] first world problem. We are two middle age white dudes in New England, host in a podcast,
[00:42:18] whining about the fact that the studio doesn't treat us right. That's not really what we're doing.
[00:42:25] No, not at all. I know it seems that way. And in a sense, it kind of sounds that way.
[00:42:30] But it's just it's there's so much more they could do to make this franchise accessible
[00:42:38] to everybody and promote it to everybody. Then they're doing that waited until after Picard had
[00:42:49] already concluded to put Patrick Stewart in a major Super Bowl ad campaign,
[00:42:57] which I mean Picard can still be watched and so connection. But you'd think they would.
[00:43:03] I mean, he narrated some stuff before he was in one other ad campaign of theirs.
[00:43:08] You know, but that last ad campaign was probably the best of them. And Picard's not even on the air.
[00:43:17] Speaking of which, my brother was at episode 10 of Picard season three last week when I saw him
[00:43:23] and he has been loving it. He's really loved it. He's been he's not one to text a lot to me,
[00:43:29] but he's been texting me as he's been watching it with all these great comments and questions,
[00:43:33] stuff like that. So I said, dude, you ain't interfering for a major awesome time with episode 10.
[00:43:39] So good. Such a good season. Just absolutely incredible.
[00:43:44] You know what? You know what kind of surprises me? I'm on a tangent here for a little bit.
[00:43:49] I've had more than a number of people ask me, well, how's that going to work
[00:43:53] with you moving to North Carolina? Will you and Dan still be able to do trek geeks?
[00:43:59] And it's like, absolutely. You and I record on an online room
[00:44:06] and you are eight minutes away from my house right now. Right?
[00:44:09] Right. I guess we started.
[00:44:10] Yeah. Yeah, when we started trek geeks, you were two hours away in Maine.
[00:44:15] So for most of our interactions on the podcast, it has been in some sort of virtual recording
[00:44:19] studio. Yeah, this has been what? Like two? Maybe three times where we've been in the same
[00:44:25] room together. Maybe. I don't even think three, couple maybe two.
[00:44:29] There was the one we did in the basement at your sister's house?
[00:44:31] Yeah. There's the one we did at Northeast Trek Con.
[00:44:36] Yep. And then Vegas, so three. Three, yeah.
[00:44:39] Yeah, that's it out of 312 plus supplemental. A couple of Vegas ones. So technically four.
[00:44:46] Oh, true. Yeah. They weren't specific podcasts. They were just recordings of the panels that
[00:44:52] went in. Right. Yeah, I gotcha.
[00:44:54] Technically four out of 312. Yeah.
[00:44:58] So I guess this sets up the southern headquarters for trek geeks?
[00:45:05] There you go. Okay. I like that.
[00:45:07] In North Carolina?
[00:45:08] Is it considered the south, North Carolina?
[00:45:10] Yeah, it is.
[00:45:11] Okay. All right.
[00:45:13] I have to look up where the Mason-Dixon line is quite frankly.
[00:45:15] While you're doing that, speaking of conventions,
[00:45:18] we got Long Island coming up pretty soon, buddy.
[00:45:21] Yeah, baby.
[00:45:22] It's gonna be one of our first conventions on the East Coast
[00:45:26] in a long, long time. We talked about the Northeast one that we did a few years back, but
[00:45:33] man, I'm excited for this one. It's gonna be great.
[00:45:34] Good time.
[00:45:35] Yeah. North Carolina absolutely is south of the Mason-Dixon line.
[00:45:38] It is south? Okay. All right. Give you that.
[00:45:41] Yeah. We're gonna be together for a convention in New York,
[00:45:45] and we're gonna be having a great time.
[00:45:47] I'm looking forward to that. It's gonna be great.
[00:45:48] And I get to drive there. You still have to fly.
[00:45:50] It's gonna be weird to fly separately to Vegas.
[00:45:52] It is. It's gonna be very weird.
[00:45:54] Yep. I'll be god, it'll be so quiet.
[00:46:01] But I'll have a shorter flight than you will.
[00:46:04] Very much shorter, but I still think I'm getting in before you.
[00:46:06] I have a direct flight.
[00:46:08] You're a jerk.
[00:46:12] That's all right.
[00:46:14] Suck it.
[00:46:15] Yeah. And I will say this right now, I'm going to announce this and surprise you
[00:46:20] here as we're recording. I will not be going to any of the East Coast conventions that creation
[00:46:26] putting on this year, unfortunately. I know they're doing one in Jersey and one in New Orleans.
[00:46:33] Is that what the other one is? I forget where it is.
[00:46:34] I don't remember.
[00:46:35] I don't remember, but unfortunately, I will not be able to partake in those
[00:46:39] because of other things that I got going on this year with the misses.
[00:46:43] Well, the creation one is in November, I think.
[00:46:46] In Jersey?
[00:46:47] It's in November, yep.
[00:46:48] Yep.
[00:46:48] Correct.
[00:46:49] I...
[00:46:49] There's another one in September. I forget where that is.
[00:46:51] I can't go to that one anyway, but it's at the same place where I went to the first
[00:46:56] office convention.
[00:46:57] Oh, okay.
[00:46:59] Which is kind of cool.
[00:47:02] It's a small venue.
[00:47:04] I imagine that the stage and the dealer's room will be all in the same area.
[00:47:09] What's going on with creation?
[00:47:10] All of a sudden, having Star Trek conventions again.
[00:47:13] I know. Yeah, that one's November 8th to 10th.
[00:47:15] Okay.
[00:47:16] They've done other shows there and they have one in May for something else.
[00:47:20] It just says creation in Jersey.
[00:47:23] September 1st, Washington DC.
[00:47:26] Yeah, but that's not it.
[00:47:27] That's not it.
[00:47:28] Yep.
[00:47:29] Dunno.
[00:47:30] There's one in Nashville in September.
[00:47:33] Nashville, that's the one.
[00:47:34] Okay.
[00:47:34] I said New Orleans, but yeah, Nashville.
[00:47:36] Yep.
[00:47:37] Yeah, interesting.
[00:47:38] That's like an eight-hour drive for me,
[00:47:40] so I'm not going to that one.
[00:47:41] Yeah, yep.
[00:47:42] So for all you people on the East Coast,
[00:47:43] unfortunately we won't be there.
[00:47:44] We'll be there in spirit, but not this year.
[00:47:49] No, not this year and that's okay.
[00:47:51] Yep.
[00:47:51] We're in Vegas.
[00:47:52] We'll be in Vegas.
[00:47:53] I don't think we'll be expanding to a bunch of conventions.
[00:47:56] Yeah.
[00:47:56] It's hard.
[00:47:58] It is hard because life.
[00:48:01] Life, work.
[00:48:02] Work.
[00:48:03] Family.
[00:48:04] Wanting to stay married, that kind of thing.
[00:48:06] That's a biggie.
[00:48:07] Yeah.
[00:48:08] Kind of an important one right there.
[00:48:10] At least in the top three.
[00:48:11] If the conventions are closer to us,
[00:48:13] like say if there's one in Boston.
[00:48:14] Ashwa.
[00:48:16] Boston's easier to do.
[00:48:18] Boston is very easy.
[00:48:19] Yeah, that would be doable.
[00:48:20] Or if there's one in Raleigh.
[00:48:22] Yeah, true.
[00:48:24] You could very easily fly down and stay at the house.
[00:48:26] Yep.
[00:48:27] We could do that one quite easily.
[00:48:29] Yeah, I mean Boston, yeah.
[00:48:31] You fly in, stay at a house and we could drive
[00:48:32] to and from each day.
[00:48:33] We don't have to be down there the whole day.
[00:48:35] Right.
[00:48:36] Yeah, it's funny.
[00:48:37] But I can't see really doing much beyond what we're already doing.
[00:48:44] I imagine there'll be another Trek-Wong Island next year.
[00:48:46] Happy to do that one.
[00:48:49] But I think Vegas and Trek-Wong Island are probably
[00:48:52] our commitments for the foreseeable future.
[00:48:55] Yeah, yeah.
[00:48:58] Speaking of travel.
[00:49:00] Let's segue into it.
[00:49:01] See this is great about this episode.
[00:49:02] We need to segue into whatever the hell we want.
[00:49:04] I might be showing my ugly mug at a whole foco in person this summer.
[00:49:12] Oh yeah, at a Hollywood food coalition.
[00:49:14] Yeah, Sue and I are going out to Disneyland this summer.
[00:49:19] She said let's pick some place to go.
[00:49:21] This time you have to pick.
[00:49:22] Let's go somewhere besides Disney World.
[00:49:24] So I picked Disneyland.
[00:49:26] You're an idiot.
[00:49:27] Well, there's a reason we might be able to meet some friends out there.
[00:49:29] So if they're able to go that'd be great.
[00:49:32] If not, we're still gonna have a good time.
[00:49:33] And I've already told Billingsley and I'm planning on seeing him
[00:49:37] and maybe going to WholeFoCo to say hi to everybody and take a look
[00:49:41] and maybe spend some time helping him out a little bit.
[00:49:48] I was just gonna say you better take her to Musso and Friends.
[00:49:50] Yeah, we've already talked about that.
[00:49:52] There's also a place, I don't even know the name of it
[00:49:54] and I'm sorry I don't have it.
[00:49:55] There's this person on Instagram.
[00:49:57] It's this candy company that's outside of the LA area.
[00:50:01] And it shows how this guy makes candy cane making for like 50 years.
[00:50:05] And it's incredible to watch.
[00:50:08] Oh, wow.
[00:50:09] And I want to go to that candy store and buy stuff because it looks fantastic.
[00:50:12] Yeah, we want to do that.
[00:50:14] Hopefully they'll be able to say hi to Champion.
[00:50:17] So we should go to us.
[00:50:18] You should go to Scum and Villainy, the Star Wars theme.
[00:50:20] Oh yeah. Yep.
[00:50:21] Yep. Do that.
[00:50:22] But we are gonna be, we are actually gonna go to Disneyland.
[00:50:25] We've been out there and stayed at a Disneyland resort
[00:50:28] when we went to go see Dancing with the Stars several years ago,
[00:50:31] but we didn't go into the parks.
[00:50:32] But we're going into the parks this time.
[00:50:34] We're gonna go into Disneyland one day.
[00:50:36] We're gonna go to California Adventure.
[00:50:38] Two of the days were there.
[00:50:39] And so we're looking forward to that.
[00:50:40] I'm really looking forward to going to the Marvel campus.
[00:50:45] I'll have my...
[00:50:46] Oh, The Avengers.
[00:50:47] Yeah, The Avengers Campus.
[00:50:48] I'll have my Thanos tattoo shown proudly that day.
[00:50:53] I would really love to see Avengers Campus.
[00:50:57] It's not gonna happen unless I go to California.
[00:50:59] And that's not happening in the foreseeable future.
[00:51:01] I still haven't seen Star Wars, Galaxy's Edge in Florida.
[00:51:04] My wife went before the pandemic.
[00:51:08] I'm gonna be honest.
[00:51:08] I love Star Wars.
[00:51:10] I love Star Wars.
[00:51:11] Galaxy's Edge is not a big deal to me.
[00:51:14] It's basically just, it's just the immersion into that environment.
[00:51:19] There are two rides.
[00:51:20] The Millennium Falcon ride is okay.
[00:51:23] The rise of the resistance is fantastic.
[00:51:25] But other than that, it just stores
[00:51:27] and the look of things.
[00:51:30] Gotcha.
[00:51:31] You wanna...
[00:51:32] I mean, if they were to create a whole park that had the environment
[00:51:37] plus all the thrill rides, that would be great.
[00:51:39] And that's what Disney has to do.
[00:51:40] They have to make not just sections of A park, a certain thing.
[00:51:43] They have to make A,
[00:51:44] they should make an Avengers park, I think.
[00:51:47] They really should.
[00:51:48] Something like that.
[00:51:48] I agree.
[00:51:49] I think they're talking about maybe doing a
[00:51:53] Billins Park is a rumor of the new park
[00:51:55] that they're gonna do because they have announced
[00:51:57] that they are gonna do another park.
[00:51:58] But I'm hoping it's something like Billins.
[00:52:00] But we'll see.
[00:52:01] But I can't wait to be on Avengers Campus.
[00:52:03] Great.
[00:52:03] I wish they could do Avengers Campus in Florida,
[00:52:05] but they can't.
[00:52:06] Yeah.
[00:52:07] Because of the agreement with Universal.
[00:52:08] Yep.
[00:52:09] Yeah, that's just absolutely ludicrous.
[00:52:11] Yep.
[00:52:12] But I get it.
[00:52:13] I get it.
[00:52:14] That's what happens when Disney starts buying everything.
[00:52:16] True.
[00:52:17] Yep.
[00:52:17] So yeah, I got my Thanos tattoo ready for that.
[00:52:19] I also got another tattoo a week or so ago.
[00:52:22] I finally got lost forever etched on my body.
[00:52:26] That's too bad.
[00:52:27] I know.
[00:52:27] I knew you were gonna say that, but it came out fantastic.
[00:52:30] And you know what?
[00:52:31] It's amazing.
[00:52:32] I've got the amazing tattoo that's lost.
[00:52:33] Yeah.
[00:52:34] The first one I ever did.
[00:52:35] My Star Trek, The Beast Base 9.
[00:52:38] And then one of the guys in Hudson at the Inc Club did Thanos,
[00:52:43] and he did a fantastic job.
[00:52:44] But my Jaws tattoo and my Lost tattoo were done by Jay's daughter,
[00:52:50] who is only an apprentice.
[00:52:52] But oh my God, her work is just phenomenal.
[00:52:55] She does the best lines I have ever seen.
[00:52:57] It's incredible how great a job she does.
[00:53:00] So I'm very happy with my Lost tattoo.
[00:53:02] It was not comfortable, dude.
[00:53:05] I'll tell you what.
[00:53:05] This is my fifth one, and it was on my calf.
[00:53:09] And that's one of the most uncomfortable areas to get one.
[00:53:11] And they ain't lying because that sucked.
[00:53:14] It was three plus hours, and it was awful.
[00:53:18] I did not love that at all.
[00:53:20] And it's big too.
[00:53:21] So.
[00:53:22] The worst one for me was the forearm.
[00:53:24] Okay.
[00:53:25] Just because the skin is so thin there.
[00:53:26] Yeah.
[00:53:28] But I can believe that the calf hurt.
[00:53:31] I would have thought that that wouldn't, because it's because it's meaty.
[00:53:34] It's meaty.
[00:53:34] So I'm like, okay, maybe that shouldn't hurt as much.
[00:53:36] But no, it was not great.
[00:53:39] By that last half hour of three plus hours, I'm like, oh my God, hurry up.
[00:53:44] Just get it done.
[00:53:45] I'm willing to bet it hurt as much as your face.
[00:53:49] No, I think that hurts a lot more.
[00:53:51] That's true.
[00:53:51] That is true.
[00:53:52] That's good.
[00:53:52] Good.
[00:53:53] Congratulations.
[00:53:55] Thank you.
[00:53:55] Thank you.
[00:53:55] You're funny and you can add.
[00:53:58] So, so Kelly and I were driving back.
[00:54:02] We dropped our car off to get service today.
[00:54:04] Oh.
[00:54:04] I don't know how we got on the subject, but we got on the subject of Easter Seals
[00:54:08] because Easter is this weekend.
[00:54:09] True.
[00:54:10] Here in the United States.
[00:54:11] I don't know if it's that way because I'm not religious.
[00:54:14] And we're talking about it's like, well, we have no idea what Easter Seals does.
[00:54:20] And so she looked it up and while she was looking it up, I said, you know, as a kid,
[00:54:25] I thought that it was a day that they dressed seals up for Easter instead of like the Easter bunny.
[00:54:33] And she just started laughing so hard.
[00:54:34] She goes, oh my God, that's so wholesome.
[00:54:38] But as a kid, that's what I thought.
[00:54:40] It's like, oh, Easter Seals is where, you know, like sometimes you got reindeer for Christmas.
[00:54:44] Yeah.
[00:54:44] You know, you get whatever you get.
[00:54:47] Turkey's for Thanksgiving.
[00:54:49] Thank you.
[00:54:49] Turkey's for Thanksgiving.
[00:54:50] Seals for Easter.
[00:54:51] I thought that, you know, it's where we, you know.
[00:54:53] I love that.
[00:54:54] I dressed seals up for Easter, but I was young and I didn't understand how I know.
[00:55:00] But yeah, I felt kind of dumb.
[00:55:05] I actually love that idea.
[00:55:06] Now I just want to go dress up seals.
[00:55:08] I love seals.
[00:55:08] I've always loved seals.
[00:55:10] So I would love to dress them up in some little funny years, little suits,
[00:55:15] little baths like under flipper.
[00:55:18] Like go walk around.
[00:55:20] Sea world that should do that.
[00:55:24] So for those who don't know, Easter Seals provides life changing disability and community services,
[00:55:35] you know, leading the way for inclusion and as they say, what they call it full equity.
[00:55:41] They say together we're empowering people with disabilities, families and communities
[00:55:44] to be full and equal participants in society.
[00:55:47] So certainly a decent mission.
[00:55:50] I've never really known much beyond today, but apparently it has nothing to do with
[00:55:57] seals being dressed up for Easter.
[00:55:59] I think we should start a letter writing campaign to them
[00:56:02] and say that their mascot should be a seal dressed up.
[00:56:08] So like an Easter bonnet or a suit with lots of pastel colors?
[00:56:14] I like that idea.
[00:56:14] I think that's a great idea.
[00:56:16] The pastel colored suit with a little little batch basket
[00:56:21] with little grass coming out of it.
[00:56:23] Should there be eggs on it?
[00:56:24] Eggs in it, yeah.
[00:56:25] The seal would probably eat the eggs.
[00:56:28] It's weird.
[00:56:29] Maybe some fish.
[00:56:31] Sweet tart chicks.
[00:56:34] That's oddly specific.
[00:56:36] That's because I really want some, but I'm not eating sweets these days.
[00:56:40] I've had the opposite problem.
[00:56:44] Yeah.
[00:56:47] You know, they say buying a house is stressful.
[00:56:50] Yeah.
[00:56:50] I have not felt an ounce of stress in this entire project.
[00:56:55] That's good.
[00:56:56] That means it's the right thing, man.
[00:56:57] It makes me wonder if I'm doing it wrong.
[00:56:59] No, not at all.
[00:57:01] As you know, we had a little bit of stress when we did our move.
[00:57:03] Remember the day we were driving to work?
[00:57:05] My wife called because the ceiling in the kitchen was collapsing
[00:57:08] because water leaked in and we were unaware?
[00:57:10] Oh my God.
[00:57:11] But people don't have to, I don't think you have to worry about it.
[00:57:13] You don't have to worry about any of that.
[00:57:14] That's part of the reason why you're not stressed.
[00:57:15] I'll tell you right now is because you're not selling where you live right now.
[00:57:20] You're just leaving.
[00:57:22] That's a huge part of it.
[00:57:23] Okay.
[00:57:24] So I think that might be why you're feeling the way you are, which is great.
[00:57:27] I think that's fantastic.
[00:57:29] You should not have stress in something that's such a big thing
[00:57:32] and it's such a positive change for me, because you're leaving.
[00:57:35] But for you, because you're going to be having your dream house.
[00:57:39] You know what I'm saying?
[00:57:39] You've always got to punch that in there, don't you?
[00:57:41] Yeah.
[00:57:42] Use the face things.
[00:57:42] I'm going to use that.
[00:57:43] Because you're leaving.
[00:57:45] Your face is part of the show.
[00:57:46] I'm going to miss you so much and you don't even know.
[00:57:49] I know.
[00:57:51] I know.
[00:57:53] You know what's so great?
[00:57:54] You believe that.
[00:57:58] Just kidding, I'm going to hate you.
[00:58:01] I'm not going to be able to come over and say, hey, do something.
[00:58:06] All those times we do it.
[00:58:07] Yeah, all those times we do it when you like come over
[00:58:08] and I give you something and you give me something.
[00:58:11] Let's be clear.
[00:58:12] We exchange items.
[00:58:14] I just want to, it sounded a lot dirtier the way Dan said it.
[00:58:16] Well, that's because you're big.
[00:58:19] Wow.
[00:58:20] You're disgusting.
[00:58:23] You woke up angry today.
[00:58:26] Oh, actually, I'm in a great mood.
[00:58:28] If I had your face, I'd be angry too.
[00:58:30] Oh, there it is.
[00:58:31] That's three.
[00:58:32] One, two, three.
[00:58:33] That's a trifecta.
[00:58:35] It's a hat trick where I come from.
[00:58:36] All gentré.
[00:58:38] What?
[00:58:39] No, not at all.
[00:58:40] I was pretending I could speak in that language and I really can't.
[00:58:42] You butchered it quite frankly.
[00:58:44] I did.
[00:58:45] That's okay.
[00:58:46] What don't I butcher when it comes to talking or typing or reading?
[00:58:53] Am I right?
[00:58:54] Oh, I am not questioning the veracity of your claims.
[00:58:58] It's funny.
[00:58:59] I just wanted to say the one thing, but then I'm like, no,
[00:59:01] I screw that up too.
[00:59:02] No, I screw that up too also.
[00:59:03] So yeah, there was three things there.
[00:59:04] So I have three now too.
[00:59:06] So you have three insults to me and I have three insults to me.
[00:59:10] That's a good day where I come from.
[00:59:13] That's a good day.
[00:59:14] Good day.
[00:59:15] That's a good day.
[00:59:16] Eight shoes.
[00:59:16] It's so much.
[00:59:18] I got something else I'm very excited for that Star Trek related.
[00:59:20] What's up?
[00:59:21] I got the email yesterday and I have since pressed that button.
[00:59:25] My X06 Constable Odo will be coming very soon.
[00:59:30] I pulled the trigger on it and I can't wait to get it.
[00:59:33] And now I even though they're so expensive,
[00:59:35] but now I'm kicking myself or not getting the other deep space nine ones
[00:59:38] that are already sold out.
[00:59:40] I should have the whole crew, but...
[00:59:44] I've not bought one of the X06 collectibles.
[00:59:46] They're so nice.
[00:59:47] Not because they don't like them.
[00:59:48] It's just because they've been at a price point that...
[00:59:51] They're insane.
[00:59:51] I'm working toward buying a house and it's not something I go,
[00:59:56] honey, look what I bought for $250.
[00:59:57] Yeah, exactly.
[00:59:58] Yeah.
[00:59:59] So once they're gone, they're gone?
[01:00:02] As far as I know, I'm going to their website right now
[01:00:05] and just to give you an idea, sold out ones.
[01:00:09] And they say sold out there.
[01:00:10] They don't say they're coming back, but Cork is sold out.
[01:00:14] Shran, Archer, Chacote, Seven of Nine, Data, Locutus.
[01:00:22] Let's see what else we got.
[01:00:23] Cisco, Kolenar Spock, Tuvok, Janeway, Mirror Spock,
[01:00:28] the Doctor from Voyager and Admiral Kirk from TMP are all sold out
[01:00:34] and they have never brought any of them back.
[01:00:37] Wow.
[01:00:38] Yeah.
[01:00:39] I mean, and some of these...
[01:00:40] That's a little mind blowing.
[01:00:41] It's the detail on these things are just absolutely amazing.
[01:00:44] So I can't get Cork and Cisco,
[01:00:46] which I would love to have both of us going to do the whole crew
[01:00:49] because they have...
[01:00:49] Kira is available right now.
[01:00:51] It is not sold out.
[01:00:53] She's not sold out.
[01:00:54] Bashir is coming.
[01:00:55] You can put a pre-order on that right now too.
[01:00:57] So but I'm figuring, you know, Odo's my man.
[01:01:00] He's always been my favorite character.
[01:01:01] He'd be the person I would most want to hang out with
[01:01:03] in the Star Trek universe.
[01:01:04] I couldn't say no to getting Cosimo Odo.
[01:01:06] Nealix is pre-order, Rowe is pre-order,
[01:01:09] Strange New World, Spock and Pike are pre-order.
[01:01:12] And I'll tell you what, recently Todd Stashwick posted on his Instagram
[01:01:16] that Exo6 came over to his table at a convention recently
[01:01:19] and gave him a prototype of Shaw and it is incredible.
[01:01:26] That might be one.
[01:01:27] I might pull the trigger on that one because it is...
[01:01:30] I love that character so much and it looks so good.
[01:01:33] So people check out Todd's Instagram for the video of it.
[01:01:36] It's really...
[01:01:37] It's really...
[01:01:38] They do great work.
[01:01:39] I might in theory pull the trigger if they ever do it for regular TOS Spock
[01:01:46] because they've only done two mirror figures.
[01:01:50] I have both of my Asulu and Spock.
[01:01:51] Those are the two that I've got.
[01:01:52] That's it.
[01:01:53] You think they would have done some of the regular ones first?
[01:01:55] Yeah.
[01:01:55] Yep.
[01:01:56] But I might pull the trigger for Nimoy Spock once he's...
[01:02:02] Regular Spock once he's available just because...
[01:02:04] It's Spock.
[01:02:05] Yeah, it's Spock and Leonard to me has always been the heart and soul of Star Trek.
[01:02:11] Yeah.
[01:02:12] It's interesting that they came out with Kolanar Spock from TMP before they came out with TOS Spock.
[01:02:18] In Chicago we saw a display of the ones that they were working on and I told you
[01:02:22] if they ever do release Wheelchair Pike from TOS, I'll grab that one because that one's really good.
[01:02:29] We'll see.
[01:02:30] I see that Disco Bones is on the radar.
[01:02:33] Disco Bones, that's with the beard?
[01:02:35] That's awesome.
[01:02:36] If you look at their image for the motion picture and click into the page,
[01:02:40] the header shows the X06 figure for Disco Bones.
[01:02:44] Oh my God, that's great.
[01:02:46] I love it.
[01:02:47] That's great.
[01:02:48] They do good...
[01:02:49] But you're right.
[01:02:51] I'm not trying to be mean.
[01:02:54] It's an action figure and it's over $200.
[01:02:58] It's a lot.
[01:02:59] That's an expensive toy.
[01:03:02] They do great work, but ouch, just ouch.
[01:03:07] Yeah.
[01:03:07] So I imagine I have some time.
[01:03:11] I would imagine that regular TNG Picard would go fast.
[01:03:15] They put out more Voyager figures than they have really any other series and that's great.
[01:03:20] Don't get me wrong, but I would want Picard before I'd want Chakotay.
[01:03:26] I think they've only done Saru for Discovery.
[01:03:30] Akujimoya.
[01:03:31] And they also did some lower or doing some lower decks ones.
[01:03:34] Then those ones for me...
[01:03:37] They have Commander Burnham for...
[01:03:39] Oh, they do have Burnham?
[01:03:40] Okay.
[01:03:40] Yeah.
[01:03:41] Not Captain, but Commander in the blue uniform.
[01:03:45] Oh, okay.
[01:03:46] I don't even know if...
[01:03:47] Oh yeah, there she is.
[01:03:48] Hi.
[01:03:49] Okay.
[01:03:49] It's available.
[01:03:50] It's available to purchase right now.
[01:03:53] There you go.
[01:03:54] I like her hair now than that one.
[01:03:55] That it.
[01:03:56] We're looking at the images right now.
[01:03:58] I agree.
[01:03:59] I don't have an interest in the lower decks ones.
[01:04:02] No, I don't either.
[01:04:03] Because I mean they're cool, but I don't think I need a Badgey X06.
[01:04:10] No, not at all.
[01:04:12] Nope.
[01:04:13] Sharan looks awesome.
[01:04:14] If I didn't even know that it got released,
[01:04:16] that might have been one I would have got because I just love Jeff so much.
[01:04:18] So great and everything he does.
[01:04:20] Yeah.
[01:04:20] But yeah.
[01:04:21] So yeah.
[01:04:21] Okay.
[01:04:21] So that's X06.
[01:04:23] Today they get some free plugs from the Trek Geeks podcast.
[01:04:26] I know you think that we might get them to advertise on this garbage podcast.
[01:04:31] I got an idea for them right now.
[01:04:32] What's up?
[01:04:33] Dylan Danfig.
[01:04:35] Get them on the phone.
[01:04:38] Five bucks each.
[01:04:39] No.
[01:04:41] No, we pay people to take them.
[01:04:43] Yeah, you get what you pay for.
[01:04:46] Wow.
[01:04:47] Before I move, I have to come over with my green screen and set it up in your garage
[01:04:54] because I have an idea for our Trek Long Island panel.
[01:04:59] Okay.
[01:05:00] That's all I'm going to say.
[01:05:02] All right.
[01:05:02] That's all I can say.
[01:05:04] Okay.
[01:05:04] Right now we are scheduled or it is tentatively scheduled that we have a panel at Trek Long
[01:05:12] Island.
[01:05:13] That's all we can say.
[01:05:14] Right.
[01:05:15] And that's all we're going to say.
[01:05:16] You know me, I like to do promotion for these things.
[01:05:18] You do.
[01:05:19] You absolutely do.
[01:05:20] So I have a very specific idea that will involve setting up the green screen in your
[01:05:28] garage, a couple of lights and ticking some photos with my cell phone.
[01:05:35] Okay.
[01:05:35] I like it.
[01:05:37] We'll do it.
[01:05:37] I'll approve it.
[01:05:39] I'll write that.
[01:05:39] Talk to the boss.
[01:05:41] I'll write that check.
[01:05:44] I'm getting paid?
[01:05:45] No, no, no, no, no.
[01:05:46] I'm getting paid.
[01:05:47] You're renting my garage so I'm paying myself.
[01:05:50] Yeah, but I'm doing all the labor.
[01:05:52] That's your problem.
[01:05:54] Wow.
[01:05:56] Let's see how it is.
[01:05:56] So you're going to pay yourself first like always.
[01:06:00] That's what happens when you write the checks, baby.
[01:06:03] Yeah, all it's 15 cents goes a long way.
[01:06:11] Yeah, I was going to quote that for others, but I'm breaking neck and cashing check.
[01:06:19] It's the fucking catalina wine mixer.
[01:06:23] Careful, your mic.
[01:06:25] I know that was going to do that.
[01:06:26] I tried to pull back a little bit.
[01:06:27] That's probably one of my favorite scenes of the whole movie.
[01:06:30] You overloaded your mic so much that it cut out your audio in the recording session.
[01:06:35] Wonderful.
[01:06:36] Yeah, there we go.
[01:06:37] You don't have to go across the room and do it.
[01:06:39] You're welcome.
[01:06:40] So go across the room and do it right now.
[01:06:43] Do it?
[01:06:43] I can't.
[01:06:45] I don't want to scare the puppy.
[01:06:47] You're an ass.
[01:06:50] It definitely tagging this one as explicit.
[01:06:52] This was fun.
[01:06:54] Was it?
[01:06:54] We should do this once a year.
[01:06:57] I have just an outtake episode of us talking about nothing.
[01:07:05] Were you doing Seinfeld?
[01:07:06] Is that what that was?
[01:07:07] Yeah, it was terrible.
[01:07:08] I know it was because Seinfeld's the terrible show.
[01:07:11] No, it's not.
[01:07:12] I do not think that show holds up at all.
[01:07:14] I think Frees Company holds up better than Seinfeld.
[01:07:16] I think that Seinfeld holds up better than Friends.
[01:07:21] I agree with that.
[01:07:22] But I've never been a huge fan of the show.
[01:07:26] It's got its moments, but I've never been.
[01:07:28] You know me.
[01:07:30] I used to not like Seinfeld at all.
[01:07:32] And then we started watching things during the pandemic.
[01:07:36] And what do you watch when you feel like you've watched everything?
[01:07:39] Right.
[01:07:39] You watch things that maybe you wouldn't normally watch.
[01:07:41] So I watched It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which I love.
[01:07:44] I'm going to start watching that.
[01:07:45] I watched Seinfeld, which I really kind of like.
[01:07:47] Yeah.
[01:07:47] And I watched Kirby or Enthusiasm,
[01:07:49] which I think is one of the funniest shows ever done.
[01:07:51] It by the creator of Seinfeld.
[01:07:53] We're watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine right now.
[01:07:55] That is fantastic.
[01:07:56] We watched that during the pandemic too.
[01:07:57] Oh my God, it is hysterical.
[01:07:58] I love it.
[01:07:59] Also last night we started watching Only Murders in the Building.
[01:08:02] That's good.
[01:08:03] And it's one episode in and love it.
[01:08:06] So yeah.
[01:08:07] You know, I had no concept of who Selena Gomez was before Only Murders in the Building.
[01:08:14] And I just now sort of get this.
[01:08:15] I didn't know she sang.
[01:08:16] Oh, OK.
[01:08:17] Oh, yeah.
[01:08:17] I thought she was just an actress.
[01:08:18] You know me.
[01:08:19] I got some of her.
[01:08:20] I had no idea.
[01:08:22] But she's a remarkably talented person.
[01:08:25] I had no idea she's wonderful in the show.
[01:08:28] I haven't heard much of her music, but she does have a very, very talented voice.
[01:08:32] Yeah, she does.
[01:08:33] And Steve Martin, I've been a fan of Steve Martin since the early Saturday Night Live days
[01:08:37] when he would be host.
[01:08:39] It's hard to believe.
[01:08:40] I was reading an article about him last night.
[01:08:42] There's a documentary that just came out on Apple TV about him, two-parter.
[01:08:47] One's called Pass, one's called Present.
[01:08:48] He's 75.
[01:08:50] Yeah.
[01:08:50] And you just think, wow, we're getting old.
[01:08:55] I can tell you Marty Short is my favorite part of Only Murders in the Building because
[01:08:58] I've always been a big Marty Short film.
[01:09:00] And he's 70.
[01:09:02] He was born in 50.
[01:09:03] So he's 74.
[01:09:04] Did you see the photo of Ernie Hudson with Paul Rudd at the latest Ghostbusters frozen
[01:09:12] empire or whatever it's called?
[01:09:13] No.
[01:09:14] He's 78 and the dude is jacked.
[01:09:16] He looks like he's probably 55 or 60.
[01:09:18] He's 78?
[01:09:19] Yeah.
[01:09:20] Ernie Hudson?
[01:09:21] Yeah.
[01:09:21] I'm looking at the picture right now.
[01:09:23] I would never in a thousand years thought he was 70.
[01:09:25] He's in the black t-shirt, right?
[01:09:26] Yeah.
[01:09:27] He looks like he's like 40.
[01:09:30] Yeah.
[01:09:30] That's amazing.
[01:09:31] If people say Paul Rudd doesn't age.
[01:09:33] Yeah, I'll tell you what.
[01:09:35] I have not seen it.
[01:09:36] It's not cut and great reviews.
[01:09:39] But I'm sure it's something that I'll watch.
[01:09:41] I haven't seen the first new one after life.
[01:09:44] I haven't seen any of the new ones.
[01:09:46] Yeah.
[01:09:47] I'll tell you what.
[01:09:48] It's not often that Sue and I will stop a movie.
[01:09:52] We stopped the Ghostbusters one with the lady leads and the guy who played Thor.
[01:10:01] It was awful.
[01:10:02] I did not care for it at all.
[01:10:06] I didn't watch it because it didn't look funny in the trailer.
[01:10:08] It wasn't.
[01:10:09] And what we saw wasn't funny.
[01:10:12] I mean, like I said, there's only a couple of movies that we've done that.
[01:10:15] One of our favorite go-to movies when we just want to put something on that we've seen a lot
[01:10:20] is the original John Carpenter's The Fog.
[01:10:23] It's campy.
[01:10:25] It's got funny parts.
[01:10:29] It's something that we have just loved for years and years.
[01:10:34] And they made a remake of it.
[01:10:37] I'm not sure when the remake came out.
[01:10:39] Let me check right now.
[01:10:41] Actually, no, I can't look at it because I actually removed it off my Plex server.
[01:10:44] The first one came out in 1980.
[01:10:46] And of course, Adrian Barbosa is the original.
[01:10:48] So why would you not love it?
[01:10:49] Exactly.
[01:10:50] But we stopped the fog remake 20 minutes in and we're like, this is one of the worst movies ever made.
[01:10:56] For people that think that we don't like Ghostbusters because we didn't like a movie
[01:11:00] with women leads, I'm going to say bullshit.
[01:11:02] I loved the Barbie movie.
[01:11:05] And I loved Bridesmaids, which many of those same women are in.
[01:11:09] I have loved plenty of movies that have featured female leads.
[01:11:13] And it's just that Ghostbusters didn't look funny to me.
[01:11:15] Absolutely.
[01:11:16] And I actually was hesitant to say it because I don't want people saying, oh, you just don't like
[01:11:21] that's bullshit.
[01:11:23] It's just not a well done movie, especially if you're fans of the original Ghostbusters.
[01:11:28] Starring Ron Jeremy with a cameo at the end.
[01:11:30] I'm just going to point that out there.
[01:11:33] But you didn't know that, did you?
[01:11:35] You didn't did you?
[01:11:35] Did you know that?
[01:11:36] No, I didn't care.
[01:11:37] No, I didn't care.
[01:11:37] It's actually in it.
[01:11:38] I'm going to go with an unpopular take.
[01:11:41] Oh, not a fan of Ghostbusters.
[01:11:43] No, no, no, no, no.
[01:11:45] I don't think Bill Murray is funny and I don't think he's ever been funny.
[01:11:49] I don't think that's a bad take at all.
[01:11:52] I don't disagree with you.
[01:11:54] A lot of people love Bill Murray.
[01:11:56] They think, you know, he's eclectic.
[01:11:58] He's weird.
[01:12:01] He's Bill Murray and everything he's in.
[01:12:04] And every story about a movie being produced with him, nobody knows if he's ever going
[01:12:11] to show up to set.
[01:12:12] And when he's there, whether or not he's going to be a complete tool bag.
[01:12:15] Right.
[01:12:15] Yeah.
[01:12:16] No, I don't disagree with you on that at all.
[01:12:19] There are other people in Ghostbusters who I like.
[01:12:21] So I think Ghostbusters is funny despite Bill Murray.
[01:12:24] Yeah.
[01:12:27] So there you have it.
[01:12:29] Knowing that he's in, I think because I think he's in Frozen Empire.
[01:12:32] And he was in the first, he was in afterlife also.
[01:12:34] Oh, was I?
[01:12:35] Yeah.
[01:12:35] I have no interest really.
[01:12:39] Egon was my favorite character.
[01:12:40] Yeah.
[01:12:41] I'll see him.
[01:12:42] I'll see it at some point.
[01:12:43] It's not on my list.
[01:12:44] I'll probably finish the off.
[01:12:45] All right.
[01:12:47] You know, we're watching now.
[01:12:48] What's that?
[01:12:50] Oh boy.
[01:12:52] Love is blind on Netflix.
[01:12:55] OK, dude, I'm going to tell you right now you're a fool because when I was getting
[01:12:59] my tattoo last week, they were watching that down at the other end of the studio
[01:13:05] and I'm listening to it.
[01:13:06] I'm like, what in the effing eff do people watch this stuff for?
[01:13:11] This is such crap.
[01:13:13] You're watching it.
[01:13:15] That is exactly why.
[01:13:17] It is great train wreck television at times.
[01:13:22] I like the concept of it.
[01:13:24] It's not like the bachelor.
[01:13:26] These people are in a room and a pod as they call, they have dates, multiple dates,
[01:13:32] and they can't see the other person.
[01:13:34] So they're forced to talk and get to know each other and build a connection.
[01:13:39] I appreciate that because it's not 20 women in one guy and let's see how many dates we can get
[01:13:44] and whether or not he picks me.
[01:13:46] Or it's not like married at first sight where there's no connection at all,
[01:13:49] they just thrust two people together.
[01:13:51] I appreciate that it forces them to get to know the person.
[01:13:56] However, once they get out of the pods, there is plenty of horrible trash TV going on,
[01:14:02] plenty of couple fights.
[01:14:03] And there was the episode that was on when I was there,
[01:14:06] or the several because I was there for so long.
[01:14:07] We're in the first season and we are not disappointed.
[01:14:13] Well, didn't you watch the Tiger show or something too?
[01:14:15] Did you watch that one?
[01:14:16] Well, Tiger King was a documentary.
[01:14:18] Well, but there was another one that I didn't watch the dramatization of it.
[01:14:24] Maybe I'm thinking duck.
[01:14:25] I've watched the documentary, but I watch 90 Day Fiancé.
[01:14:29] Okay.
[01:14:30] I watch Meredith first sight and now I watch Love Is Blind.
[01:14:36] Dude, I'm the same guy who would, you know, when I would be home working or home sick,
[01:14:40] in particular, from work, I would watch Jerry Springer and Maury Povich
[01:14:46] because I love crappy television.
[01:14:51] Yeah.
[01:14:52] Morton Downey Jr.?
[01:14:54] No, I didn't stay up late.
[01:14:56] And that was on when we were teens, really.
[01:14:58] Yeah.
[01:15:00] I used to have to get up at 3.30 to be at Friendly's by 5 a.m. to open for six.
[01:15:08] So I didn't watch, I didn't stay up for Morton Downey.
[01:15:12] But yeah, I love just train rock television, man.
[01:15:16] I don't, I don't.
[01:15:19] And I'll tell you what, you're going to disagree with it,
[01:15:22] but I think you'll kind of know where I'm coming from.
[01:15:25] I think some aspects of the office can be trainwrecked because you just feel so
[01:15:29] cringe-worthy about Michael and the things that he does.
[01:15:32] Not trainwrecked might not be the right word, but that's the reason why Sue doesn't watch it.
[01:15:36] It's just too cringe-worthy.
[01:15:38] I can't believe this is happening type stuff.
[01:15:40] That's the beauty of the writing and the brilliance of Steve Carell.
[01:15:44] Yeah.
[01:15:44] Yeah.
[01:15:44] Yeah.
[01:15:45] There are so many moments, so many moments where you're like, oh my, he's not, oh my god,
[01:15:50] he did it.
[01:15:52] Oh, he did it.
[01:15:54] I remember we were on the plane and you're watching the Phyllis's wedding episode.
[01:15:58] And you were laughing so hard, you're punching my leg on the plane.
[01:16:04] And there's so many cringe-worthy moments like when he gets up to give a toast to Bob and Phyllis,
[01:16:10] and he starts it multiple times.
[01:16:12] I'm Michael Scott because he believes you give the audience a couple looks
[01:16:17] when you're still workshopping material.
[01:16:20] You haven't gotten to some of the most cringe-worthy episodes yet.
[01:16:22] God.
[01:16:24] I did see a video the other day of when he leaves the office for the last time.
[01:16:29] The caption was that they were real tear.
[01:16:32] Yeah.
[01:16:34] John Krasinski.
[01:16:35] John Krasinski, yeah.
[01:16:38] The couple episodes before that, it's called Michael's Last Dundees,
[01:16:43] where they do another episode of the Dundees and they get tossed out of the restaurant
[01:16:47] kind of like they do in the first one, but they go back to Dunder Mifflin.
[01:16:51] And Steve Carell was the only one not in on it, but the cast starts singing
[01:17:00] the song from Renta, 985,600 minutes.
[01:17:04] But they've adapted it for Michael.
[01:17:06] And they just kept the cameras rolling.
[01:17:08] Steve Carell stayed in character the whole time.
[01:17:10] Had no idea it was happening.
[01:17:12] His tears were 100% real in that scene because it was a total surprise to him.
[01:17:15] That's cool.
[01:17:16] Nice.
[01:17:16] Yeah.
[01:17:18] Nice.
[01:17:19] I will watch it.
[01:17:21] I do want to finish it.
[01:17:22] I do.
[01:17:25] Where are you at now?
[01:17:25] You're still trapped in season four like you've been for six months?
[01:17:29] Yeah, still trapped.
[01:17:32] See if I can tell exactly where I am.
[01:17:33] Stand by.
[01:17:34] I'll bring that up right now.
[01:17:35] Standing by to stand by.
[01:17:36] I'm at.
[01:17:37] Red 5 standing by.
[01:17:38] Thank you.
[01:17:39] The office.
[01:17:42] Bubblebytuna.
[01:17:43] I am on...
[01:17:46] Oh, I'm almost done.
[01:17:48] I think I'm on night out, episode 15.
[01:17:51] So I only have a few episodes left.
[01:17:53] Well, there are a lot of one hour long episodes in season one at the early half.
[01:17:58] Fun run is an hour long.
[01:18:00] Dunder Mifflin, Infinity is an hour long.
[01:18:01] So we're launch party and money.
[01:18:03] Goodbye, Toby.
[01:18:05] Goodbye, Toby is really good.
[01:18:06] Goodbye, Toby sets up something that through lines through the rest of the series.
[01:18:12] And Michael or the rest of Michael's time on the series.
[01:18:14] Okay.
[01:18:15] So.
[01:18:16] I'm almost done season four.
[01:18:18] Did I stutter as great?
[01:18:19] Job fair is fantastic.
[01:18:21] Those are the next two after night out, yeah.
[01:18:23] There you go.
[01:18:23] And goodbye, Toby.
[01:18:24] You will laugh a lot.
[01:18:26] Okay.
[01:18:27] All right.
[01:18:28] Dinner party for me is arguably the best episode of the office.
[01:18:31] So good.
[01:18:32] Yeah, it's so cringy.
[01:18:33] It is so cringy.
[01:18:35] So cringy.
[01:18:36] But there's another one coming in season seven.
[01:18:38] I think it is called Scott's Tots.
[01:18:41] More cringy.
[01:18:44] The deposition was cringy too.
[01:18:45] Oh my gosh.
[01:18:47] I will allow it.
[01:18:51] Good stuff.
[01:18:52] All right, cool.
[01:18:52] So I will have to get on that.
[01:18:55] Of course, I'll be flying alone so I could watch a whole bunch of them on the plane to Vegas.
[01:18:59] Yeah, dude, that's five months away.
[01:19:01] I know.
[01:19:02] I'll probably be at the end of season four by then.
[01:19:04] I doubt it.
[01:19:08] You're gonna be like, I forgot everything I watched,
[01:19:09] so I had to go back to season one.
[01:19:11] Yeah, exactly.
[01:19:12] Oh, well.
[01:19:15] Daniel, we can't forget.
[01:19:16] What's that?
[01:19:17] Oh, I think our friends, the band Five Year Mission,
[01:19:20] we may have talked about nothing this episode,
[01:19:23] but Five Year Mission is definitely something and something that everybody should love.
[01:19:28] They're doing a one song for each episode of the original Star Trek
[01:19:31] and these songs, as we've said so many times, they're not parodies of Star Trek.
[01:19:35] They are looks at these episodes in ways you might not have imagined.
[01:19:42] They tell a story and they kind of compliment every episode that they've done a song for.
[01:19:47] So that's FiveYearMission.net.
[01:19:49] Please go get all the albums on CD, get them shipped to you.
[01:19:52] That way you own the physical media and those training service can dump it from you.
[01:19:57] Just become a huge fan like Dan and I are.
[01:20:00] So that's FiveYearMission.net.
[01:20:02] Get those songs.
[01:20:04] Get them all.
[01:20:04] You'll love them every single one.
[01:20:05] They're great.
[01:20:06] They're fantastic.
[01:20:07] You know, I gotta say, man, I was so excited to watch the episode this week that I was going to
[01:20:11] watch.
[01:20:12] One of the best really is.
[01:20:13] It gets a bad rap about being a bad episode, but I really don't think it is.
[01:20:17] But then I was just, I gotta say, I was just disappointed.
[01:20:21] I turned it on and there was just nothing there.
[01:20:23] Blank space, no music, no drums, nothing.
[01:20:27] Just dark emptiness and some cobwebs.
[01:20:31] It was Farke's brain.
[01:20:32] It was Eyedrops Farke, not Badginal Cream.
[01:20:39] What?
[01:20:40] Check Farke's Facebook posts.
[01:20:42] You really got to give that some context because nobody listening to the podcast that isn't
[01:20:47] Friends with Farke is going to have any idea what you're talking about.
[01:20:51] It was one of those ones.
[01:20:52] I don't go on Facebook a whole lot, but I did go out to post about the pop today.
[01:20:59] So I am scrolling through and Farke's job is like, I don't know what his title is.
[01:21:07] But I'm going to read what he said.
[01:21:09] Just had a lady get mad at me for asking what she ordered for a charge dispute per policy.
[01:21:14] It was Eyedrops.
[01:21:16] If I had said it was Badginal Cream, would you write that down?
[01:21:21] Yes, man, I would.
[01:21:22] I mean, it just struck me as funny.
[01:21:24] So that's why I throw that in.
[01:21:26] It's funny.
[01:21:28] Is it?
[01:21:29] It is.
[01:21:30] Which part is funny?
[01:21:31] Well, that's indisputable.
[01:21:34] You're telling of it, I think probably loses something in the translation.
[01:21:38] When doesn't it, though?
[01:21:39] Boston Translation, that's another one.
[01:21:42] Yeah, that's Bill Murray.
[01:21:43] I didn't like it.
[01:21:44] Oh, that's true.
[01:21:45] That's right.
[01:21:45] Okay.
[01:21:46] Never mind.
[01:21:46] And he is playing something a little different than Bill Murray, but I just...
[01:21:51] I thought, yeah, not great.
[01:21:55] Wow.
[01:21:55] We've gone way off track.
[01:21:58] Dark emptiness and some cobwebs.
[01:22:00] I think that also describes Dan's brain.
[01:22:02] Yes, but we're not talking about that right now.
[01:22:04] We're talking about five-year mission, Fark.
[01:22:06] So you're saying Fark's brain has nothing in it?
[01:22:09] Cobwebs, that's something more than me.
[01:22:13] Dark emptiness.
[01:22:15] I would posit that Fark is smarter than you are.
[01:22:20] Not going to disagree with that in any way, shape or form.
[01:22:24] So your brain is just dark emptiness without cobwebs?
[01:22:30] Five-year mission.net, go get those CDs.
[01:22:33] Of course, don't forget you too can subscribe to us on Patreon
[01:22:35] where you get perks and you get to be part of a pretty awesome group of people, Dan.
[01:22:42] Yeah, they are awesome.
[01:22:43] We love all of them.
[01:22:44] Right now I'm going to take a special moment, as I do every episode,
[01:22:47] to thank our associate producers of Trek Geeks.
[01:22:50] And they are.
[01:22:51] It's a long list, so I'm going to take a deep breath.
[01:22:53] VeeKronBot, Chad Clark, Corey Clay, Brad DeMagg, William Edward M. Jr., Brandon Everidge, Andy Fark,
[01:23:00] that guy, Kimberly Francis, Jonathan Hamilton, Ryan Jeffs, Sean Lynn, Rick Mason, Jamie McGregor,
[01:23:06] Ross McKinney, Aaron Molinkoff, Sarah Ladoo, Helen Reed, Sarah Rutlinger, Tim Robertson,
[01:23:12] Desi Rogers, Greg Rozier, Eric Sackian, Adam Sanders, Tim Sardar, Heather Sohn, Blake Stryke,
[01:23:19] Lisa Tomlinson, Ron Robill, Kay Leah Zawacky.
[01:23:23] I love saying that.
[01:23:24] I love saying that.
[01:23:25] And the gracious and Vundaba, Connie Hutchins.
[01:23:30] Vundaba, you should do next week or next episode all of Schwarzenegger again.
[01:23:35] I can do that.
[01:23:36] The entire list?
[01:23:38] The entire list.
[01:23:39] Challenge accepted.
[01:23:40] And then we're going to make you do double duty.
[01:23:42] You can do the producers as Captain Kirk.
[01:23:45] Oh, you're going to have me do both?
[01:23:47] Yeah, double duty.
[01:23:48] Wow.
[01:23:49] Okay.
[01:23:49] However, this week I will read our wonderful Trek Geeks producers.
[01:23:53] They are Mike Bovia, Steve Bovia, Chas Bratcha, Kyle Castillo.
[01:23:58] I lost my place in the list and it was the number two spot that does not bode well for
[01:24:02] the rest of the list.
[01:24:03] Kyle Castillo, Peter Craig, Andy Davenport, Craig Ewing, Jackie and Chris Hackney,
[01:24:08] Brian Hackwith, Kimberly Hartman, David Hood, Lionel Marchon,
[01:24:13] McGonagall, Jim McMahon, Darren Metcalf, Charlie Mulvey, Sean O'Halloran, Casey Pettit,
[01:24:19] Jamie Rogers, Casey Shasky, Terry Shull, Jim Stofill, Chris Tribuzio, Christina Werther,
[01:24:26] and the lovely and talented, Jess Vashon.
[01:24:30] Dan, the senior producer of Trek Geeks.
[01:24:32] Let's take a break here for a second.
[01:24:34] The senior producer of Trek Geeks is somebody we could do an entire episode on.
[01:24:39] And it would not be an episode of nothing because he
[01:24:42] is amazing.
[01:24:44] Absolutely.
[01:24:45] He is Jude Tatman and he is the permanent senior producer of Trek Geeks, keeps us in line like
[01:24:50] nobody else.
[01:24:51] He will be the only person ever in infinity to have the title of senior producer of Trek Geeks.
[01:24:57] And we could not be more proud of this young man.
[01:25:00] How are things across the pond, buddy?
[01:25:02] Hope you're doing well.
[01:25:03] Stay high to the family also.
[01:25:04] You know, everybody listening, you can become a producer of Trek Geeks and it's

[01:27:06] Music for Trek Geeks
[01:27:29] Bing bong.
[01:27:30] Oh, that little raspy.
[01:27:32] That was kind of that was kind of sexy.
[01:27:34] You just described me.
[01:27:36] Bing bong.
[01:27:40] So what do you do for an outtake when you've had an hour of outtake?
[01:27:45] I don't know.
[01:27:46] Maybe I'll go get takeout.
[01:27:49] No, backwards.
[01:27:51] I see why we should have deleted this now.
[01:27:53] It's going to be a long episode.
[01:27:56] I see why we should have deleted this.
[01:27:59] I have no idea.
[01:28:00] I'm trying to save all my good stuff for the actual episode, but I don't really have any good.
[01:28:04] That'd be the first time in 300 and some odd episodes.
[01:28:08] Come on.
[01:28:09] I think it is.
[01:28:09] You have to be absolutely right on target.
[01:28:12] This is 312.
[01:28:15] Well, there's also been some supplementals that we used to count.
[01:28:18] Didn't count.
[01:28:19] Oh, supplemental this turkey neck.
[01:28:22] Turkey neck.
[01:28:23] That was a phrase that my dad would say all the time he was dicking around with us,
[01:28:27] joking around and having fun.
[01:28:29] We'd say something and if he wanted to just if he didn't want to believe it or
[01:28:32] he just wanted to be a wise guy, like he said, oh, I'm going to drive.
[01:28:35] I get 35 miles a gallon.
[01:28:36] He'd be like, oh, 35 miles this turkey neck.
[01:28:39] And we'd all be like, what?
[01:28:41] What?
[01:28:41] What?
[01:28:42] Sometimes he would say turkey breath, too, which is always good.
[01:28:46] So my father-in-law, I adore him.
[01:28:49] He's a wonderful, wonderful man.
[01:28:51] I love my in-laws genuinely.
[01:28:52] Like I know you love your in-laws.
[01:28:55] Yes.
[01:28:55] Yeah.
[01:28:55] And my wife and I are in the car with them one day going to dinner
[01:29:00] and he's telling a story and he's trying to punctuate how somebody just
[01:29:04] isn't doing what they're supposed to be doing.
[01:29:06] He's like, you know what I say?
[01:29:08] I say, man up or shit in your hat.
[01:29:12] And Kelly and I are in the back seat going, the hell does that mean?
[01:29:17] Man up or what?
[01:29:20] That's like, I don't have time.
[01:29:22] I'm wearing a hat and I said, I am not shitting in this.
[01:29:26] That's a new one.
[01:29:27] I've never heard that one before.
[01:29:28] Yeah.
[01:29:28] So every now and then we'll drop with each other a man up or shit in your hat.
[01:29:33] Nice.
[01:29:34] Let's talk about the problematic aspect of the phrase, man up.
[01:29:38] Yeah.
[01:29:39] Absolutely.
[01:29:40] That aside, it's really the whole shit in your hat thing people should be focusing on.
[01:29:45] I think that's what, yeah.
[01:29:46] That's kind of like a thing that you kind of just like the spot like shines right on it,
[01:29:50] which is kind of gross in itself when you think about it.
[01:29:52] Yeah.
[01:29:53] So there you have it.
[01:29:54] It's okay.
[01:29:56] So now if we marry the two together, it's man up or shit in your hat, turkey neck.
[01:30:01] I love it.
[01:30:01] I'm going to use that tonight.
[01:30:02] Every Friday night I FaceTime,
[01:30:04] soon I FaceTime with Donna and Chris every Friday night.
[01:30:07] You know they live 15 minutes away.
[01:30:09] I know, but it's something that started in Maine and it's just never really stopped.
[01:30:13] I'm going to use that tonight and they're going to both look at me like,
[01:30:15] what the hell are you talking about?
[01:30:17] That's great.
[01:30:18] I love it.
[01:30:18] Thank you.
[01:30:19] You are welcome.
[01:30:20] That's a good hashtag.
[01:30:22] That's how long it is.
[01:30:24] All right.
[01:30:27] It is a long one.
[01:30:27] You are not incorrect there for once.
[01:30:30] So considering that we're just going to be out taking the whole thing,
[01:30:37] maybe we should actually cut an episode.
[01:30:39] Yeah, let's do it.
[01:30:40] I'm ready.
[01:30:44] Man up or shit in your hat, Dan.
[01:30:46] Thank you.
[01:30:46] Thank you.
[01:30:53] Coconut.
