STLV Recap

VIVA LAS VEGAS!

(Corrected Version)

Dan and Bill returned from their annual trip to the Star Trek Family Reunion and had a blast--even though it took Bill forever to edit this episode. Seriously, blame him for why the Trek Geeks haven't been in your ear holes.

There was probably a better way to say that. Sorry.

You'll get the full breakdown on their experience at STLV 2024: the good, the bad, and the potential for change. Plus, hear why Bill FINALLY enjoyed staying at the Rio for the first time in TEN YEARS!

But wait, there's more! Audio from inside the vendor hall with Dan and Bill with special guest appearances from Lew from FanSets and also our first ever guest on Trek Geeks nearly ten years ago: Michele Specht!

It's a super-sized episode and we hope you enjoy it! (Again, still Bill's fault.)

[00:00:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Geeks is proud to have fansets as our presenting sponsor.

[00:00:16] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, fansets is the place for amazing pin collectables with over 500 officially licensed

[00:00:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Star Trek pins and new releases every single month.

[00:00:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Stay tuned for a special discount code good on your next order at fancets.com.

[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Fansets are pins.

[00:00:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Have character.

[00:00:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Hi, this is Andy Robinson, E-LM Garrick and Star Trek Geeks,

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_04]: face nine and you are listening to the biggest little podcast

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_04]: this side of the gamma quadrant.

[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_04]: It's the Trek Geeks Podcast with Dan Davidson and Bill Smith.

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Failure to tune in would not sit well with the Obsidian Order.

[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_07]: Greetings to you, Trek Geeks, Trekkers and Trek enthusiasts all over the planet.

[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_07]: Welcome to the biggest little show this side of the Alpaquadraint that Trek Geeks podcast.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_07]: I am your co-host, Bill Smith and I am excited to be here.

[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_07]: I am refreshed and back from Sin City or the City in the Desert of Fabulous Las Vegas,

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_07]: Nevada however you want to refer to it.

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_07]: But unfortunately my baggage got sent home with me.

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_07]: That's right my lovely co-host, the somewhat intolerable Dan Davidson Dan.

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_07]: We made it.

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_05]: We made it.

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_05]: It was weird flying out there without you.

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_05]: It was weird flying home without you.

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm glad I am your bad luggage, whatever the hell you just said.

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_05]: It's great to see you.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_05]: I get in great to be here, baggage, luggage.

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't care what it is.

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm excited to talk about what a great week we had and it's going to be a great discussion.

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Looking forward to it.

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_07]: Well it's going to be great with the exception of the fact that you're here.

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Wow, that's started early.

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_05]: We're only like, wow two minutes in.

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_07]: I'm starting early.

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, two minutes in some odd seconds.

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_07]: There's actually a timer now that we can do this.

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_07]: Which is actually kind of cool.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_07]: You and I look forward to Vegas so many times throughout the year.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_07]: We talk about it all year long, we talk about what we're going to do.

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_07]: We try to make it a little different each year.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_07]: And we'll talk about this more later, but this year I think we probably had the most

[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_07]: touristy time we've ever had.

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I'd have to agree that based on the fact that we didn't have anything to do.

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Which in some ways was great and in some ways I felt like we were busier than we had a bunch of stuff going on.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_05]: But that's because we had a lot of people at our table in the vendors room and just had a fantastic

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_05]: time.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_05]: We did get to walk around.

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_05]: We did get to talk to people.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_05]: We were reunited with some people that we haven't seen in a long, long time.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_05]: It was a great week.

[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm not going to lie.

[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_05]: You know that I was a little nervous and had a lot of my mind before the week started.

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_05]: And for the most part, I was able to put that behind me and enjoy the week.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_05]: So I'm glad that I went.

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_07]: I'm glad that you went too because honestly it, you know,

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_07]: now that you've been doing this for almost 10 years,

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_07]: it honestly wouldn't be the same without you.

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_07]: It's weird to think that you've been going to Vegas now that long.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_07]: I've been going even longer than that.

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_07]: Because you've heard me talk on and on and on about Vegas for at least 10 years.

[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you just don't shut up about it.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, it's like, you've set it before your Vegas is your Disney.

[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_05]: What Disney is for me, Vegas is or was for you.

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_05]: So I can appreciate the fact that you like to go there a lot

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_05]: and do all kinds of cool things.

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_07]: Well, we're going to talk more certainly about Vegas coming up.

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_07]: Certainly the difference this year was that we traveled separately,

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_07]: which was really good.

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_07]: I'm right here.

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_02]: It was so good.

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_07]: I'm right here.

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_07]: But you know, it's always great to have that trip and to see people

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_07]: and to have the table and to just be able to share our love

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_07]: of this thing, which I know is how we typically refer to it.

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_07]: Almost makes it sound like the mafia quite frankly.

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_07]: But this thing that we do, stay with you.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, right?

[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_05]: God, a goal.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Wow.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_07]: Bring me the gobble.

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Sorry, that's an office reference.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_07]: Everything ties back to Star Trek at the office for me.

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_07]: I don't know what it is.

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_07]: But, you know, we're going to talk about, you know, our collective weekend

[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_07]: for the audio version of Trek Geeks this week.

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_07]: We're going to drop in some audio that we recorded and site in Vegas.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_07]: Yep, I'm during Saturday and Sunday.

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_07]: Doesn't really translate well to have just an audio presentation

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_07]: during a live recording of Trek Geeks.

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_07]: So for those of you Patreonicals who will also get the audio version,

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_07]: you'll want to be sure to listen to that.

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_07]: And apologies to the patrons, a Patreon kind of screwed up the live stream link

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_07]: for today and wanted to schedule it for tomorrow.

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, it's kind of after when this what I happened.

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Right, that would have been a lot of people going,

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_05]: we're going down.

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_07]: Okay, we're a pill of dead.

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_07]: Wouldn't get a chance to see, hello?

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_07]: Ooh, like early.

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_07]: So we're going to talk more certainly about Vegas.

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_07]: After we, of course, share a little business with America Dan,

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_07]: like that.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_07]: And of course, let me take off the overlay because that,

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah, the overlay is already but now that's even pretty right there.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_07]: But it's, it's blocking fans at, of course,

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_07]: of course, of course.

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_07]: We want to talk about our amazing friends at fans at, and we're so grateful

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_07]: that they're the presenting sponsor each and every week for Trek Geeks.

[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_05]: I could not agree more.

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_07]: And I kind of ran with this because I didn't have the copy up so.

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and we love having them as our presenting sponsor buddy.

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_05]: It was great to hang out with them all week in the vendors room at STLV.

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_05]: They had a metric ton of new pins on display at the con.

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_05]: And you can bet they're good.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_05]: They're all going to be available very soon over at fansets.com.

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_05]: So many great pins are on display.

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_05]: I'd go like the 2024 convention exclusive poker chip, which has become a favorite

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_05]: every year at STLV.

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_05]: It was Nealix.

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_05]: It was so popular to do that it was sold out by Thursday.

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely amazing that it was sold out so quickly.

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Don't worry though.

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_05]: They're going to have additional ones available on the website as soon as they can get them.

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_05]: But I got to say my favorite one for the whole week.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Man was the lower decks Vegas exclusive pin.

[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_05]: All your favorite characters from lower decks were on the pin with that great delta,

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_05]: the lower decks logo and of course glitter, lots and lots of glitter which I will always love.

[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_05]: It was a fan favorite also and it's going to be available on the website at some point

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_05]: and I'll tell you what when it shows up on the website folks get it right away because this is

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_05]: sure to sell out.

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_07]: Yes, I'm wearing it right here this lower decks Vegas pin.

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_07]: It is amazing.

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_07]: It is awesome and very glittery and you're going to want to be sure to get it and all the

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_07]: great new pins from Vegas in your hands.

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_07]: Many of them are going to be available in the coming weeks on fansets.com.

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_07]: But until then, you know what the drill is.

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_07]: Head on over to fansets.com and put like 500 pins that they have available.

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_07]: Get them all in your cart.

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_07]: And at checkout, be sure to enter the special discount code trek geeks

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_07]: for 10% off your entire order.

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_07]: That's trek geeks and all capital letters with those spaces.

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_07]: Now let's think about this for a second if you took all 500 pins put them in your cart

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_07]: to 10% off using the code trek geeks.

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_07]: That's going to be a pretty huge savings.

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_07]: I'm just going to throw that out there right now.

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_06]: You want me to put a big bill too.

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, let's look at the positive.

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Positive though, you're going to have 500 star trek pins from fansets

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_05]: who does not want that.

[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_05]: I know I want it.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_07]: Still cheaper than most of the new collectibles coming up from CBS.

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_07]: I just want to put that out there.

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_07]: Absolutely.

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_07]: Of course, don't forget what you spend more than $30 on a

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_07]: radically good free shipping inside the United States.

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Fansets are pins have character and we thank our friends at

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_05]: fansets for being the presenting sponsor of trek geeks.

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_07]: We sure do each and every week they are amazing.

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_07]: Does the work amazing does in Vegas?

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_07]: Certainly one of the highlights is to be next to them in the vendor hole.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_07]: It's always a joy for us.

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_07]: And this year was no exception, that's for sure.

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_05]: No exception at all.

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_05]: It's great. We also had our friend met from section 31 supply on the other side

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_05]: who was part of the whole fansets gig.

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_05]: He's a fantastic guy.

[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_05]: We're going to hang out with him for the first time.

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_05]: We had pins on both sides of us all week and it was,

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm not going to lie.

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_05]: It was pretty awesome.

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_05]: I would have if I could take every pin and just like stick you in the head with it,

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_05]: I wouldn't have had a perfect week.

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, that in a good way of course.

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Because then you would have been showing all that great Star Trek swag all week long.

[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_07]: You're desperately trying to find a positive here and I'm not seeing it.

[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_05]: I was going to say I could use the magnet once because of the play in your head,

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_05]: but you don't have a play in your head so that wouldn't have gone over well either.

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_07]: All I want to do is start quoting Cousinetti from from Christmas vacation.

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_07]: Can see the part in your hair right there. It's pretty big.

[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Kirk.

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_07]: Yes.

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_07]: You and I arrived on Tuesday, which is kind of become our tradition.

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_07]: We like to get in the day before.

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_07]: So we can get a full night sleep before Vegas.

[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_07]: This year it didn't get screwed up by the airline.

[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, you and I planned for every possible outcome.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_07]: We said, all right, even if we get there late on Tuesday,

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_07]: we're still going to get there early enough to get a full night sleep,

[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_07]: you know, even if we get there Wednesday morning,

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_07]: you know, because of flight delays like happened the year at Bally's.

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_07]: We're okay.

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_07]: This is the first year in a long time that everything went precisely as it should have.

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_05]: It was it was awesome.

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_05]: We weren't flying together, which wasn't awesome. It was kind of weird.

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_05]: But both of our flights, both legs of both of our flights were

[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_05]: flawless.

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_05]: On time early, no turbulence, great service by the entire crew.

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_05]: I thought it was great. When we got there, you were wonderful.

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_05]: You got there about an hour before I did. You arrived at the airport and you waited for me.

[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_05]: So I came down the escalator and there you were over in the baguette area waiting for me to come in.

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_05]: And then we jumped in an Uber and headed over to the Rio our old home away from home.

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_05]: And started a fun week of fun and frivolity, I should say.

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_07]: You're using big words. I'm not prepared for this today.

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm my, I'm my, my to-saurus right here.

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_07]: That was one of the dinosaurs of the Paleolithic era.

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_05]: I wasn't a paleontology something or other. Yes, absolutely.

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_07]: Intangible with that be Zeno paleontology?

[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Probably. Yeah. They'd have a different separate deck with a dinosaur crew members are just like the, you know, dolphins.

[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Citations, dance. That's a certain citations. I could have corrected myself but I figured you would.

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_07]: Thanks. You know, barely brings up a great point.

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_07]: Things might actually have gone smoothly because we didn't travel together.

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_05]: I, I'm not going to lie. I think, Burley's right.

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_07]: This just means that you've cursed me because before you ever started going things used to go smoothly for me all the time.

[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_07]: I think we have to talk first about the Rio.

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_07]: I want to mention last year first because last year, the Rio was a shitshow.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, it was an unmitigated, you know, crap fest to be kind. It didn't lay out.

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_07]: It looked like the first convention after the Rio. I'm not so sure that they even bothered keeping

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_07]: the place clean while it was closed during quarantine. Reduce staff, you know, most of the restaurants

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_07]: were not open and certainly not open while people were there. They were only open on the weekends.

[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_07]: We arrived at the Rio, probably with, and correctly, femuron, the lowest of expectations,

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_05]: humanly possible. Is that a first statement? Not the lowest because I had seen some stuff online about

[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_05]: what they had done over the course of the last year. So I was going in thinking that it was going to be

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_05]: way better than last year. And it was when you, when you come right down to it,

[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_05]: it was way better than last year. Starting with the fact that those big circular doors at the

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_05]: entrance actually work now, even though there's no revolving door, you can actually go into those doors now.

[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_07]: I arrived with the lowest expectations you would be possible. I should be clear about that.

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_07]: As soon as you walk through the door, you were kind of greeted by the brand new lappelowns,

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_07]: the former ibar, which I'm still going to call ibar from here. I'm going to call it ibar forever

[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_07]: because I can never remember as you know the name of the new bar. Yeah and a casino that is in

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_07]: the midst of renovation and the parts that have already been done, I have to say look pretty damn impressive.

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they really do. And that new bar was awesome. I really was impressed with it. You don't

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_05]: have the stairs anymore. You don't have the ramp that was on either side or at least one side.

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_05]: And also kind of like cut into the bar area. So you lost real estate to actually even be in the bar.

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_05]: It was great. Nice, very comfortable chairs and tables all the way around the bar. Did not sit

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_05]: at the bar but there were a lot of chairs there. The staff was great. The drinks were fantastic there.

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_05]: All the new drinks that they had. And there was one particular bartender who we just loved. We

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_05]: had a great job and he was very personal and was a nice guy. Don't remember his name though.

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_07]: I don't remember his name either but I will say the drinks were overpriced for the

[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_07]: pores they gave you. Oh, of course I were. Yeah. But that's for the downside conversation later.

[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_07]: Check in was probably the easiest it's gone. The rooms were fantastic. The new food court is a

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_07]: wonderful addition where things are vagus affordable. Which I think is an important distinction to make.

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_07]: You know because there's affordable when you're at home and then there's vagus affordable

[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_07]: because everything now costs an arbonal leg out there. The new Starbucks right by the Epanema tower

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_07]: was a huge upgrade compared to that cart system they had in years previous. They clearly have been

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_07]: putting money back into this hotel starting with the outside and then moving into the inside.

[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_07]: And it shows especially in the new renovated rooms which is the best I've ever seen it look.

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Awesome. They were very, very nice. They were clean. They were big. There was a nice big giant

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_05]: couch. And we got two queens in our room because we share it when we go. It's just more affordable to

[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_05]: do that. So we have the two queens. Big giant couch which could probably sit like eight or nine people

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_05]: plus it was a pullout couch. So there was an extra bed in there. Gigantic TV, clean everything.

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Everything was clean in the room. The bathroom was already done nice. The shower was a walk-in shower.

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_05]: It was absolutely fantastic. You look like you had never seen a shower like that before. You were

[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_05]: very excited to see that three quarter glass with no door. That was kind of cool. And even had

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_05]: a little hole in the glass at the end so you could reach in and turn the water on without

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_05]: you know, scalding yourself or freezing yourself when you turn the water on normally.

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_07]: I thought that was the coolest little thing. Like I just bought a new house and I've got a

[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_07]: walk-in shower but it's got a full sliding door. Yeah. When I saw that sort of three quarter door

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_07]: in the little little inlet to reach your hand in and turn the faucet on, I was like,

[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_05]: did you see this? That's like the Christmas. And you could like reach through and grab your towel

[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_07]: that way if you really needed to. The nice thing is that there's not this big hole or window in

[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_07]: wall to the bathroom so that the people where the beds are can see you drop in heat.

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_07]: Great. Thank you because it wasn't a frosted window before. Yeah. True. It was an octagonal window

[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_07]: and you could look right in and see somebody sitting on the toilet. It was not the best of situations.

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Don't remember ever doing that. I'm going to be quite honest. I don't know if you did,

[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_07]: but I know I didn't. I've got plenty of pictures of you on the hopper. Let's just say that.

[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_05]: No, I'm getting it. Yeah. The rooms were great. One thing I will say and we made this maybe

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_05]: something you were going to get into later. I'm going to say it again now. Real staff do your

[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Fing job better please. Last year I lost about $200 worth of clothing because the

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_05]: cleaning staff just decided to take some of my clothes and get rid of them. This year

[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_05]: you had something that was very important to the week and what we were doing with some other

[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_05]: folks. And that got taken out of the room too and disposed of destroyed lost or whatever.

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Two years in a row that we've lost up in our room. I got to say, if it's not your stuff,

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_07]: if it's not the real stuff don't touch it. Please. I had a package of every labels which were

[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_07]: named tags for the the newbie in solo travelers meetup which happens every year. We were

[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_07]: partnering with Lambda Quadrant and the NX7062 transmissions to put on this event. We were

[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_07]: providing the name tags which I got some avial labels. I marked them up in Photoshop. I printed

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_07]: them out of my printer. So they looked really nice. I left them on the credenza where the mini

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_07]: bar is like on the end because that meeting happens the Wednesday night I believe for these people

[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_07]: get together and meet each other. I came back Wednesday afternoon and said, oh I must have left

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_07]: them down in the in the vendor hall. When back didn't find in there my backpack so I came all the way

[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_07]: back upstairs. Tor that room apart. Yeah. No. Yeah, notice that our curtains had been opened. So I closed

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_07]: them. We got more towels. We got handsop which we hadn't had before. And the labels were nowhere to

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_07]: found. So it's not found them there go. Luckily that's the only thing because I mean our tablets

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_07]: route and the open, you know, I imagine it was picked up inadvertently and tossed. Right. And

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_05]: you just you just set it a second ago and what I don't mean to bash it's just probably the only

[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_05]: couple of things that we'll have negative talk about. This is Las Vegas. Why on Earth would you open

[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_05]: those freaking curtains when you're cleaning the room or if you're opening them to let light in

[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_05]: when you're cleaning why are you not closing them? It's 117,000 degrees because of the sun on that glass.

[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_05]: And we had we had our air conditioner all the way down to 57 all week long did not touch it and

[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_07]: it never got below 70 in that room. Yeah. No, it never did. So I'd be at in these are the very few

[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_07]: downsides that we had in our stay. The the the atrack, the things disappearing from our room.

[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_07]: Now, um, really that's that's about it. That's about everything else was well and I would say

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_07]: the quality at hash house is step down just a little bit. They're not using like roasted corn

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_07]: beef anymore. They're using like deli corn beef and they're hash. Yeah. That's it. That's the biggest

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_07]: change. And that may be a sourcing issue or whatever who knows. Right. But all in all, I was very

[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_07]: impressed with the facility at the hotel at the Rio. I was very impressed with all of the changes

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_05]: that made the food at the food court was fantastic. It was very good. It was like you said it was

[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Vegas affordable and they were like seven or eight different choices in that food court. First of all,

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_05]: I can't imagine I remember the buffet place that was there before and it seemed to be a never-ending

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_05]: section of the Rio where you just like it went on and on and on and on forever. This is kind

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_05]: of a nice, comfortable cozy location where you had seven or eight different choices of various kinds

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_05]: of foods to choose from. And we tried at least three of them and all of them were good.

[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. And um, nothing tasted like it was, you know, frozen. You know what I mean? Yeah.

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, before everybody would go to smash burger upstairs and I felt like the options were

[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_07]: least on par with that or even a little better. I would agree with that as well. Yeah, the burger

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_05]: that we had, I forget the name of the burger place with the burger that was awesome. It was really good.

[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_05]: I forget it was cute little logo of like a bun with eyes and a smiley face but I can't

[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_05]: remember the name of it unfortunately. Actually, I didn't have the analysis really.

[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_05]: It was good description because now people are actually picturing a bun with eyes and a smile.

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_05]: I get all of you watching right now. I know you're all doing that. I could draw for you.

[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_05]: But I know that. Yeah. Sorry, the half dozen half dozen. Yeah. Well, it is a

[00:22:29] [SPEAKER_05]: middle of the afternoon. I do. I will say I do know that our good friend and senior producer

[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_05]: of Trecky is watching right now at the dinner table. I might add because I just got a picture from

[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_05]: mom. He's at the dinner table with his phone watching this very podcast. Hold on. I got to say

[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_05]: you know, you don't have any. No, no, absolutely not. Oh, yeah. You know, you don't. Yeah,

[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_07]: no, I don't have crap. Thanks, Kate. Hey, one thing I wanted to say also about about the

[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Rio with the, with the construction. They're doing a great job dealing with areas that they

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_05]: are still doing construction now. Anybody who knows a layout of the Rio when you're coming

[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_05]: from the impenetraint. First off, let me say what they did with Starbucks and that gives shop is fantastic.

[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_05]: The gift shop used to be the entire length of that wall and they cut it to down to like a quarter

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_05]: and you can still fit everything in there and it was great. And then you have this gigantic Starbucks

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_05]: which was awesome except from ridiculously understaffed. But as you walk away from the tower

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_05]: area and you're heading towards the convention, you're going to pass the cashier's cage on your left

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_05]: and there's all construction there. So everything was up with black curtains and tarps and everything

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_05]: very narrow to walk through and they took all of the slot machines that were in that area that's

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_05]: now covered and squished them all into another area. So it was pretty crowded around that area,

[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_05]: but everything seemed traffic seemed to flow pretty well throughout the week and I was actually

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_07]: surprised by that. Yeah, agreed. You know, that's actually in their replacing not just the carpet

[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_07]: but also the electrical and the data lines. You know, if you look peek behind that that curtain

[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_07]: 's there, it's bare concrete and they're doing a lot of work. I think they're putting in new

[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_07]: ceiling framework as well which I think is great. Probably upgrading camera systems since

[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_07]: I would imagine that those were original with the Rio and now there's a VHS. Actually

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_07]: one picture every eight seconds or whatever it is that the banks used to do. But yeah, all in all

[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_07]: the Rio used to be kind of a garbage hotel to me. Yeah, I would actually stay there now

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_07]: if it had a cheap rate for personal reasons. It would actually was not, I enjoyed my stay for the first

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_05]: time. That's good. That's good. I'm glad to hear it. I know that in the past I've wanted to stay there

[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_05]: because I was doing cosplay or something and it just is easier to be where all of the action is instead

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_05]: of having to worry about taxis and ubers than there was one night. I don't even know what night

[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_05]: was. We got back to the Rio from going to dinner and the line for the taxi I've never seen

[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_05]: as long as it was. It went from the taxi stand location all the way across the front of the

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Rio around the side of the building. I've never seen anything like that before. I think it was because

[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_07]: Pen and Teller got out. There usually after a big show you'll see a long line like that at a taxi

[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_07]: at a taxi place and they certainly are a draw. If you've never seen the Pen and Teller show

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_07]: seriously you will be entertained more than you ever think you would be. They put on one hell of a

[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_07]: show. I've seen them three times and they show you how other magicians and Vegas do some tricks

[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_07]: and then they show you all the illusions that blow your mind and you're wondering how in the

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_05]: hell can they possibly do that? I would love to see them at some point based on the fact that you

[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_05]: was in Vegas which is incredible. That's one of the things that I like about what they're doing

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_05]: with the Rio. The Rio is in my mind, correct me from wrong bill, you're a better Vegas than I am.

[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_05]: It's off the strip. It's like the top, the top I would call it, which is probably wrong. I don't

[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_05]: know if it's East West North or South. But it seems to be away from everything else and there's

[00:26:25] [SPEAKER_05]: always been discussion of whether or not it was going to be torn down because that's where a baseball

[00:26:28] [SPEAKER_05]: stadium might go. But the new ownership has put a lot of money into it and it looks like it's

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_05]: there to stay and they're doing a fantastic job and I really commend the fact that they are

[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_05]: making these improvements so that we and all kinds of other people have a place to go. That is safe

[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_05]: and affordable and clean. Of course as our friend Hayley says, there's always a gold coast.

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Go to the gold coast. I'm sorry. The gold coast? Wow, now say now you're going to get in trouble

[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_07]: with that. She's going to be in trouble. No, I'm not because when we stayed there that one year,

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_06]: we actually did have mold and our bedroom. We actually did. That's true. I do our correct.

[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. Not to correct you at all but believe it or not the Rio is almost

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_07]: in the dead center of the strip. It's west of the 15 so it's off the strip by

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_07]: what? Three quarters of a mile or so. But the flamingo and the blagio were pretty much dead center

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_05]: strip. It seems that everything is close yet far and I get very confused as we're.

[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Whenever we would get in an Uber to go somewhere, I had a slide to say, what direction we were

[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_05]: headed in? I just looked for the giant Rio sign whenever we were coming back because it was

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_07]: very bright and pretty. Hayley says my room was super nice both times. Well next time that's where

[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_07]: crashing that. I'm kidding. Kidding. I'm there you go. Yeah. So yeah so all in all good good

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_05]: good improvements at the Rio. The only thing that hasn't improved is it really still is a 37 and

[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_05]: a half mile walk from the casino to the convention itself. That has not changed at all. They need

[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_05]: to put some freaking moving, moving escalators or something in there. Moving sidewalks? I'd walk.

[00:28:24] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. Yeah absolutely. I almost just spit coffee all over the camera. I just want to just be

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_07]: upfront about that. I expected you were going to say 37 and a half dollar cab ride to everywhere else.

[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_07]: No no. Which is only partially true. It's only a lot of truth. 27. It's it's it's a long walk.

[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_05]: And especially you talked about it a few minutes ago. You have to walk back to the room to

[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_05]: start a part to see if you could find those labels. I did the same thing walking back down. We

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_05]: averaged. We averaged in Vegas 16,500 steps a day. Yeah. That first day where we were setting up.

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_07]: We had considerably more and the day where we were searching the next day where we were searching for

[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_07]: the the pack of the factory label. I want to say I had about 24,000 steps. You know because I

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_07]: walk back and forth several times. But you do get your steps in in Vegas. And that's good

[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_07]: because you should get all the exercise you can when it's 111 degrees outside. That was the law I think.

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, I get it that creation has many conventions at the Rio, it is super natural. They do a

[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_07]: couple of others. But August is not exactly great in Vegas. Did they just give us one in February?

[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Come on. Yeah. I'll tell you what, I don't know. We talked about it before living in New England.

[00:29:52] [SPEAKER_05]: You're going to get the heat but you get the humidity and that's pretty brutal. But I'll tell

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_05]: you what, when you're inside an air conditioned convention center for three days and then you

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_05]: it literally is walking into a heat wall. It's like boom and it was especially that when we had our

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_05]: kick off for the trek talks party over at the Delano, is that how you pronounce it? Sure.

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Because we walked out of that. We walked out of there into the sun and the heat at like three in

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_05]: the afternoon and that was just like, oh my god, I'm going to burst into flames right now.

[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_07]: It was so hot that the heat rash that we get every year while we're there started

[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_05]: within hours of our arrival. Yeah, yep. I noticed it like two hours after we got there. Yeah,

[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_07]: normally it's a few days in. Yeah. But Christina brings up a great point. It was cooler in Vegas than

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_07]: in Phoenix. I don't know how you do it, Christina. Wow. I could not do it. Not once. Maybe

[00:30:55] [SPEAKER_05]: that's why she was on time because it was so hot in Phoenix they really wanted to go up to Vegas

[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_05]: real fast. She got a tailwind. Yeah. Yeah, it was. It was 119 on Tuesday after the con.

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_07]: Berlis says that's that's toasty. That's about what it was with humidity and dirtier. Why

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_07]: do I? And then I came home to a tropical storm. Which is another story for another guy.

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_07]: Okay. Yeah. I think that the vendor haul experience was not bad but this year was

[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_07]: barred by a break in in the vendor haul. Yeah, which you know, some people got a vendor,

[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_07]: you know, in land yard somehow at least according to the reports that got into the vendor haul

[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_07]: it for in the morning security let them in and they stole about $21,000 with the merchandise

[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_05]: of materials. I thought it was actually, I thought it was actually more than that because I

[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_05]: one of the things that got taken was a giant framed picture of the enterprise,

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_05]: one of the enterprises with tons and tons of signatures on it that retailed for $28,000.

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_05]: And I didn't see it again after that break in. So I didn't know if that got taken also.

[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_07]: That has not been reported by Trek court, Trek court, re posted a post there's a Facebook from

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_07]: one of the one of the vendors that was burglarized. Perhaps that was taken in addition.

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_07]: I'm sorry, these one vendor's total loss was $21,000. Gotcha. Okay. My apologies. So it's very

[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_07]: possible that the total loss is could have been much more. You know, I've said it before.

[00:32:35] [SPEAKER_05]: It's the first loss of Star Trek convention and you wouldn't think that there are still people like

[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_05]: that. People are nice humanity sucks. That's my, that's my new mantra, I think. Yeah.

[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. It's it's disgusting. Las Vegas Metro PD do have suspects in custody, which is good.

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_07]: That's good. I at least according to this update from the one vendor that Trek court

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_07]: reposted on their Facebook page, springtime creations was the vendor. But still, it's,

[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_07]: it's a horrible story because, you know, how many tens and hundreds of thousands of

[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_07]: dollars are merged or in that vendor haul? Yeah. And how much, you know, of money or whatever else,

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_07]: people's personal possessions, you know, I'm sure some vendors next year probably going to sleep

[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_07]: in the vendor haul just to ensure that their stuff doesn't get ripped off. Yeah. Absolutely.

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, you, you leave the vendors haul thinking that everything's safe now. I also,

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm to correct me from wrong a lot of the stuff that was stolen was stuff that had autographs and

[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_05]: things on it. I don't know to be honest, I thought I heard that when people were talking

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_05]: about it, luckily, fans that's who has several autographs on their table, they did not get hit,

[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_05]: which was nice. But I really feel bad for the people that do because you go there to make money

[00:33:56] [SPEAKER_05]: and to sell your product and have scumbags breaking and steal stuff. And I hope that if these are

[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_05]: the people that are in custody, if they are the ones that are guilty, I hope they are prosecuted

[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_07]: to the folks down the law. Absolutely. And we can only hope that, you know, either the merchandise

[00:34:10] [SPEAKER_07]: is recovered or their insurance makes them hold, but what a horrible experience for those vendors

[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_07]: who spend money right, who exhibit in that vendor haul? Exactly. It costs us money to be in

[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_07]: that vendor haul every year, it costs fansets money. Everyone who has a table in that vendor haul

[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_07]: including celebrities are paying for the ability to do so. You know what? That is actually a true

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_07]: statement. It is. It's a very true statement. Our dear friend Willow, Camp Kittimer, you know,

[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_07]: longtime participator, made us homemade cookies and after that robbery, the cookies were nowhere

[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_07]: to be found. So we're on or yeah. So at least they have good taste and cookies. True. That's true.

[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Because they were going to add one. I get that one. I think he brain is like two dozen add one.

[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. Yeah. They were just in the containers and everything. It's not like they took

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_07]: you know, the cookies and made off with with them in their pockets. No, they're right. The full

[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_05]: containers. You don't want to have dirty pockets when you're stealing cookies. I guess. I don't

[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_07]: I don't know. Well, there was a time when I would have thought that at the Rio people having

[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_07]: cookies in their pockets was the least-it-readjust thing. Now the Rio seems kind of upscale.

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes. Yeah. Just posh. Yeah. By comparison. Yeah. Absolutely. The best thing to say about the Rio

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_05]: house. It's not circus circus. Well, I've never been there. I've never been in there. But you don't want

[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_05]: to do a lot of bad things about there. We were joking. You were joking about at some point

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_05]: during the weeks that I'm like, okay, I never need to go there. I'm pretty sure that if you wind up

[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_07]: it circus circus, you're going to wind up on a list. The police check regularly. But that's just me.

[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_07]: All right. Point take. Yeah. Yeah. The vendor hall was probably the busiest

[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_07]: that I have seen it throughout the convention. Since the 50th anniversary eight years ago.

[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_07]: I'm pretty convinced of that because it was walled-a-wall and asses in elbows pretty much all weekend

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_05]: long. Yeah. It really was. We were wondering how it was going to be last year when we

[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_05]: cut back to the Rio, and we saw that a lot of the vendor tables, the way the vendor room was

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_05]: changed. Or it was changed so that the center of the vendor's room was pretty much all

[00:36:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Star Trek stars to do their autographs and selfie sessions. Let me just the entire middle was

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_05]: changed completely. There were barely any vendors in there at all. Same this year. And I like that

[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_05]: they do that because it takes away from a lot of lines blocking other vendors. If you're in line

[00:36:47] [SPEAKER_05]: to get, like say, Chase Mastersons autograph and there's a line. And your vendor, you've got people

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_05]: I can't get to see your product because you get people waiting alone to get an autograph. And I think

[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_05]: that wasn't a good way to set it up. It was a disaster like that at Bally's. I did not have a

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_05]: good set up at all. I think it's gotten better over the two years that the Rio was done at that

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_05]: way and I thought it was great. Yeah, you're right. It was ridiculously busy starting Wednesday when

[00:37:11] [SPEAKER_05]: people could start coming to the Wednesday night. Yeah. I mean we saw a fan sets table which

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_05]: rightfully so because they're the best one out there. They had six people deep for like five

[00:37:23] [SPEAKER_05]: of waiting to get into to see all the different pens. And it was like that everywhere. I walked

[00:37:28] [SPEAKER_05]: around a couple times everybody was busy. It was it was great to see and you're absolutely right.

[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_07]: I think it was a busy suspense in the 50th. Even on Thursday, the first day of the con,

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_07]: that vendor hall had a buzz and an energy. People were excited to be back because we weren't at Bally's.

[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_07]: It wasn't a strike year. So people could actually talk a start track and it truly since before

[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_07]: it's in 2019, before the pandemic, it was the first year that everything felt normal. And by

[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_07]: normal I mean the way it should be at STLV. That really just sort of made it right off the bad

[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_07]: in STLV to remember. I was personally disappointed that we didn't have any content

[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_07]: in the convention this year. I don't take it as a slight by any means, but we've been doing

[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_07]: this now for almost 10 years. We've had panels each of the last three or four STLVs, depending

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_07]: on how you look at it one year we were actually an invited guest. And this year nothing.

[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_07]: Right. I get it. But just to have something like that on top of really the buzz and the

[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_07]: energy in the convention, I think would have made it a hundred times better for me personally.

[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah. I don't know how you feel. It was nice to have the break. Don't get me wrong.

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_07]: But still I harbored the slightest bit of disappointment that we didn't get to

[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_05]: bother me. If bothered me quite a bit and I'm not, I'm not trying to put us up on a pedestal

[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_05]: of pat ourselves on the back. We've been doing this for a long time. We're known and I kind of think

[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_05]: that we're pretty good at what we do and we've had successful panels in the past and I know that

[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_05]: it was new people making the schedule this year. I know that some people weren't invited to participate

[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_05]: at all and everything. I get that. I missed it. It I loved you know like the Stump the Geek panel

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_05]: that we did last year or something that stands out. I thought it was so much fun and then the

[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_05]: year that we had Billingsley show up on stage, crash our our panel that we were doing. It's a lot

[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_05]: of fun. I did like the break of not having to get my mind ready for it and prepare for it because

[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_05]: even though we're just sitting there talking you do have to you have to psych yourself up because

[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_05]: you're going to be sitting on a stage and hundreds of eyes are going to be looking at you and

[00:40:06] [SPEAKER_05]: you can be a little daunting at times. With that being said, I'm glad that we had a lot of people

[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_05]: from the network that were able to do stuff and have panels and were unbelievably successful with them.

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_05]: It was great to see Lori up on stage to me from the sisters up on stage doing an incredible

[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_05]: interview with David Jail on Sinequa Martin Green on Sunday and it was good to see that representation.

[00:40:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Not only did we not have anything to do from a convention standpoint Bill besides just being the

[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_05]: vendorism meeting fans, meeting listeners, meeting friends, reuniting with family. We didn't have

[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_05]: our party. That was probably the biggest bummer of the entire time that we were out in Vegas last week.

[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah it really was. I wanted to double back before I come back to the no pardon thing for a second.

[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_07]: I can't tell you how incredibly proud I am of our sci-fi systems who completely took their

[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_07]: little corner of the vendor hall and lit it up like it was the place to be. They had their own booth,

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_07]: they had their own merch, they were killing it over there, they had all kinds of people stopped by

[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_07]: but on top of it like you mentioned Tamia and her main stage panel with Sinequa and David,

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_07]: you and I have never done a main stage panel. I was the tiniest bit envious. I was immensely proud.

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_07]: And she, I got to say Tamia, you held it absolutely. Really, you really took that conversation

[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_07]: to a different level. A level that, you know, certainly creation has never been able to do before

[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_07]: and I'm so happy that you got to have that moment because you really just shined.

[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_05]: She really did. We didn't get to see it but we heard all kinds of people tie so high.

[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_05]: I was waiting in line for Shia at there. Oh that's right. You weren't, yeah that's right.

[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_05]: I did not get to see it but everybody was coming in talking about it. That's right. I forgot

[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_05]: you did get to see it. What was incredible is we were over at the sci-fi system's table

[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_05]: while that was wrapping up after it finished. And Tamia came up to the table and when she did,

[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_05]: the whole place around their table erupted into applause and cheers and I really think it took

[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_05]: or by surprise. It was amazing. She is awesome. I'm going to say right now, Bill, we've talked about it

[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_05]: privately. Having the sci-fi sisters join our trekking's family is probably the best decision

[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_05]: we have ever made for the network. Every single one of our shows that we have on the network is fantastic.

[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_05]: There's something special. I love all of them so much. They are so fun to be around and to be with

[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_05]: and their passion is infectious and I'm glad that they got to have their spotlight this

[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_05]: con and I hope it continues in future cons as well. And it's just a joy you can't contain from them.

[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_07]: Nor should you try because it's infectious. If you don't subscribe to their YouTube channel,

[00:43:17] [SPEAKER_07]: they're doing some exciting things over there with sci-fi sisters ink. Obviously,

[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_07]: they're audio podcasts still and forever a part of the trekgeeks network. They're live stuff

[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_07]: and their video shows that they're adding from other contributors are absolutely top shelf.

[00:43:34] [SPEAKER_07]: So you should absolutely check them out on their YouTube channel. I can agree with this,

[00:43:39] [SPEAKER_07]: everything is much better than for our kids. That's bullshit. Circus circus is much better than

[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_05]: for our kids. Wow, it's a little funny. Okay, thanks guys. Appreciate it. Going back to the

[00:43:55] [SPEAKER_07]: fact that there was no party. That probably was the most intense bummer. Easily. But

[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_07]: we tried not to languish in that too much because we really could have let that sort of

[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_07]: take our weekend down on notch. We could have been depressed all weekend long. Because I know you've

[00:44:18] [SPEAKER_07]: looked forward to that in particular the last several years. And in fact, last year you said

[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_07]: it was the only thing that kept you wanting to go to STLV this year. It was one of the only things

[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_07]: kept you wanting to go to STLV. So the fact that we didn't have it was a bummer. However,

[00:44:37] [SPEAKER_07]: down there were folks who made probably one of the kindest gestures towards us. And I know

[00:44:45] [SPEAKER_07]: that this is the kind of thing that you want to talk about at length. In fact, he's reaching for it

[00:44:50] [SPEAKER_07]: now. Mine is downstairs but I know you want to talk about this at length. Mine is downstairs,

[00:44:54] [SPEAKER_05]: but I'll let you take it from here. I don't know how to even start with this. We were bummed out.

[00:45:03] [SPEAKER_05]: I've been under tremendous amount of pressure and stress lately with my company lay off and looking

[00:45:09] [SPEAKER_05]: for a new job. I didn't even think I was going to go to STLV. I talked to you days before answer

[00:45:14] [SPEAKER_05]: I can't go. I just can't do it. And we talked and I decided to go. I had some tough days,

[00:45:18] [SPEAKER_05]: but I'm glad I went. But not having the party was something to just add odd and added onto that

[00:45:24] [SPEAKER_05]: to that stress. And I'm known to us, Kaylee, our dear friend Kaylee did some stuff and got in contact

[00:45:39] [SPEAKER_05]: through Camp Kidmer and our dear Admin's Haley and Jackie helped her out with putting together

[00:45:46] [SPEAKER_05]: something for you and I. And this is amazing. It's just a little, it's a little, a little

[00:45:52] [SPEAKER_05]: picture scrapbook with pictures from people in Camp Kidmer and our, all our friends and people

[00:46:00] [SPEAKER_05]: that we love so much. And they put this together both for you and I. Now this, this great,

[00:46:05] [SPEAKER_05]: this is all, this is all hand done by Kaylee. All of the stripes for the Rio. All of the,

[00:46:11] [SPEAKER_05]: this looks just like our party pin that we had this year did this all by hand. And people sent

[00:46:17] [SPEAKER_05]: pictures and sent messages. And then once we were presented with these, people came up to the

[00:46:27] [SPEAKER_05]: table to sign their own comments. And this is something that I will treasure forever. And it's going

[00:46:33] [SPEAKER_05]: to sit right there all the time on my Star Trek bookshelf because the amount of love that went into

[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_05]: this is something that I don't know if I can ever really put into words. And I would like anybody who

[00:46:47] [SPEAKER_05]: is part of Camp Kidmer or Patreon. If you were not at Vegas, if you want to contribute to doing

[00:46:53] [SPEAKER_05]: this for Bill and I, I'd be more than happy to add your stuff to it. So if you can see here

[00:46:59] [SPEAKER_05]: for people who are actually watching, people, there were some ones that were just printed out

[00:47:03] [SPEAKER_05]: and attached by glue or whatever onto a particular picture. Email me your comments to DanetTrackeex.com

[00:47:10] [SPEAKER_05]: and I will be happy to add your comments to this book because it's something that I want to,

[00:47:17] [SPEAKER_05]: I want to fill up and build because it meant more than I can possibly tell everybody.

[00:47:24] [SPEAKER_07]: And beyond that, the only time it's not going to be your shelf is when you bring it to Vegas next

[00:47:28] [SPEAKER_07]: time you're there, right? Which I will do the same. And I think we're going to make this sort of

[00:47:40] [SPEAKER_07]: when I got mine and I'm sure you did when you got yours because it's just a great demonstration

[00:47:46] [SPEAKER_07]: of the community that we've built with you all as partners because we don't just do this alone.

[00:47:54] [SPEAKER_07]: We can't do any of this without all of you. And it was probably the highlight of the weekend for

[00:48:02] [SPEAKER_05]: me quite frankly. It really was, it was amazing. I should say that we didn't know. We kind of had

[00:48:09] [SPEAKER_05]: idea that something was going on but we had no idea because there was a post on Camp Kitimer

[00:48:15] [SPEAKER_05]: a few weeks prior from Hayley that said, hey everybody check your, check your messages. So I'm like,

[00:48:20] [SPEAKER_05]: is everything okay? Because I didn't get a message. Is there a problem? She's like, no,

[00:48:23] [SPEAKER_05]: everything's fine. I'm just testing something out or something along those lines. I didn't think anything

[00:48:26] [SPEAKER_05]: of it. But that was a secret uh, chat and camp Kitimer that they all put together so that they could

[00:48:33] [SPEAKER_05]: plan this. And they did it in like two weeks just absolutely amazing. And it actually shows that

[00:48:38] [SPEAKER_05]: the people that took the time to send the pictures so that we made into two thick books. This is like

[00:48:44] [SPEAKER_05]: 50, 60 pages thick. Um, it is is really incredible. So not only that um Hayley's being a smart ass.

[00:48:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Not only that um the people people knew that I was having a tough time. I got to give special

[00:49:00] [SPEAKER_05]: props while we're talking about this this fantastic scrapbook. I got to give props to people like

[00:49:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Willow for the care packages that she gave us including those cookies that we're already talked about.

[00:49:10] [SPEAKER_05]: And especially to Sarah and Andy who were unbelievably gracious with their time and support when

[00:49:18] [SPEAKER_05]: I was having a particularly bad day. And I, and I get this thing in my hand right here. And it's

[00:49:23] [SPEAKER_05]: a fidget thing that Sarah made just because I'm always fidgeting around when we're sitting here recording.

[00:49:29] [SPEAKER_05]: She took the time to make this for me. It's got rice and it's got a little marble in the center.

[00:49:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Frick and thing. I'm always trying to feel the marble by getting it by itself. And it's always

[00:49:37] [SPEAKER_05]: a little tricky, but I love it. That friendship and that bond that we have made with people is

[00:49:44] [SPEAKER_05]: why I love doing this podcast and why I love going to Vegas and why I need to go to Vegas every

[00:49:49] [SPEAKER_07]: year. Um, it was just it was it was very, very special. It um it really was. I am every year. I'm kind

[00:49:58] [SPEAKER_07]: of re-energized. I've talked about this more than a few times. Vegas gets me going to do this for

[00:50:04] [SPEAKER_07]: another year, right? You know, you would kind of, I kind of look at Vegas as our super bowl of sorts.

[00:50:10] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, it's the end of our season. We get re-energized to do this again and it carries us through

[00:50:15] [SPEAKER_07]: right into the next year and into spring times. By the time we get to some of our

[00:50:20] [SPEAKER_07]: total Vegas mode and I there hasn't been a Vegas that's ever been like this one on so many levels.

[00:50:31] [SPEAKER_07]: It's probably for me as among my favorite trips to Vegas of all time for this con because it truly

[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_07]: meant that much to me. I'm glad that I'm glad we went. I'm glad you got to go

[00:50:42] [SPEAKER_07]: despite everything I've told people in public.

[00:50:44] [SPEAKER_07]: Um, can I don't know if you see the ticker below this just in? Yeah. Our thoughts are worse than

[00:50:51] [SPEAKER_05]: circus circus verified. Yeah. You can suck it. I forgot to mention Kaylia and my in my

[00:50:59] [SPEAKER_05]: talk just a minute ago. She and Jay, they're the definition of why I love the Star Trek family.

[00:51:07] [SPEAKER_05]: They care. They're there for you when you need them. They were just phenomenal. So I just got to

[00:51:13] [SPEAKER_05]: thank all the people that came up and gave me words of encouragement. And this freaking I cannot

[00:51:19] [SPEAKER_05]: I cannot talk about that enough and how awesome that that book is that everybody put together just

[00:51:25] [SPEAKER_07]: amazing. Yeah, it really is cool. As I said, we're bringing them next time. So yeah, absolutely

[00:51:31] [SPEAKER_07]: are you know and more knows we have plenty of pens in our booth. Usually we do. And next year

[00:51:37] [SPEAKER_05]: we're going to have more. Well, I'm going to bring like a thousand next year. I'm just going

[00:51:40] [SPEAKER_05]: to say that right now. Oh, my thousand. Yes. Yeah, I wasn't pens. That way we can put out more than just

[00:51:44] [SPEAKER_05]: like it doesn't at a time because we have to make sure that we don't run out which we did and I still

[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_07]: have like 10. I grabbed 10 off the table because I've never taken a pen. Well, you should they're pretty

[00:51:55] [SPEAKER_07]: awesome. Fans. Well, the guy orders him a bit of a jerk but yeah, but he does good pants. The company

[00:52:01] [SPEAKER_07]: that makes them does good pens. He makes moderately okay decisions. Yeah, I see I've totally lost my

[00:52:10] [SPEAKER_07]: turn of thought because now I'm thinking about pens which leads me to pins which leads me do the box

[00:52:14] [SPEAKER_07]: on your impact yesterday that has nothing but fans that's pins in it. Let me tell you that box is

[00:52:19] [SPEAKER_07]: friggin heavy. I we got to do touristy things this year. We did we we had of course some great

[00:52:32] [SPEAKER_07]: meals. We do an annual dinner at Gordon Ramsay's steak at Paris Las Vegas over here that

[00:52:38] [SPEAKER_07]: never disappoints you actually skipped it last year to go to a show that you've always wanted to go

[00:52:43] [SPEAKER_07]: to but this year was I don't think I've laughed that much in a long, long time and I'm not sure you

[00:52:50] [SPEAKER_05]: did either. Hey buddy. Hey buddy. Long story. Not gonna get into it. Yeah we can't get into it but

[00:52:58] [SPEAKER_07]: it's always such a great group of friends that we get to have that dinner with every year. Yeah

[00:53:03] [SPEAKER_07]: and then the other following night we actually went to a show. Yes we did. Which we've never done so

[00:53:09] [SPEAKER_07]: never done it before. Yeah I asked you and I asked our you know or our dear friend and travel

[00:53:15] [SPEAKER_07]: companion Chris Mumfrey who's at our booth with us pretty much all weekend long all the time.

[00:53:20] [SPEAKER_07]: If we wanted to go see a show and I picked actually a burlesque show because I've never seen

[00:53:25] [SPEAKER_07]: a classic you know a sort of Vegas style burlesque show and we went to one at Flamingo called

[00:53:31] [SPEAKER_07]: Xperlesque and it was a great time partly because of the artistry and the choreography but

[00:53:38] [SPEAKER_07]: the comedian that was in between sets. Yeah she was great. It was fantastic but it was a great

[00:53:44] [SPEAKER_05]: great show. I'm glad I picked it. It really was a great show that the I just cannot get over the

[00:53:49] [SPEAKER_05]: athleticism of those ladies they are just amazing to watch and there was one particular aspect of

[00:53:55] [SPEAKER_05]: the show which is really cool which is like a disco aspect and one of the girls dancing had these

[00:53:59] [SPEAKER_05]: lasers on her hand. They were like circular lasers at change colors and she was shining. It

[00:54:06] [SPEAKER_05]: was so it's hard to describe but it was really really cool. A lot of fun that comedian

[00:54:10] [SPEAKER_05]: oh my god I thought I was going to piss myself because I was laughing so hard she was hysterical.

[00:54:16] [SPEAKER_05]: We were not left alone. She got right she got right at us and it was it was fun. It was a

[00:54:28] [SPEAKER_05]: hard doing the little short break in the middle between sets. I want to go see a comedy show

[00:54:35] [SPEAKER_07]: now because I was dying. Absolutely and Kaylee by the way to go back to the the books.

[00:54:41] [SPEAKER_07]: Bring us up a great point there is also a book for fan sets which she put together

[00:54:45] [SPEAKER_07]: fantastic people going to add notes to that one as well so absolutely if you see fan sets that

[00:54:51] [SPEAKER_07]: are show. Ask of you and send their your book which is what I'm calling it now. The year all

[00:54:59] [SPEAKER_07]: I wish I remembered the name of the comedian. Nancy wasn't maybe I don't know but she you

[00:55:08] [SPEAKER_07]: know wasn't you know anyone that you know I've seen on TV or anything I imagine she works

[00:55:15] [SPEAKER_05]: the circuit in Vegas. Nancy Ryan she is she's a comedian performing at expert last

[00:55:19] [SPEAKER_07]: her name is Nancy Ryan she was great. She does a bit of insult comedy as well as some observational

[00:55:24] [SPEAKER_07]: comedy. She was she was funny she was perfect for that show. Right I enjoyed her very much. I wish

[00:55:32] [SPEAKER_07]: you know it had a chance to meet her afterwards because she was that funny so yeah yeah it's good

[00:55:36] [SPEAKER_05]: show and before that before that show we actually got to have an incredible dinner at what many

[00:55:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Vegas people say is the best high food restaurant in Vegas and I love tie and you love tie and it was

[00:55:51] [SPEAKER_07]: damn good. I talked tie very well. Sorry sorry I meet the parents quote or pseudo quote

[00:56:01] [SPEAKER_07]: yeah you know we've been wanting to go to that I mean I was first introduced to this place by John

[00:56:06] [SPEAKER_07]: McCurcorian yeah back when I was on a solo trip to Vegas for work you know I had dinner there one night

[00:56:11] [SPEAKER_07]: and he's like yeah this is a place locals go to so you don't find too many tourists here

[00:56:18] [SPEAKER_07]: because they don't know about it and now we know why because locals want to keep it to themselves

[00:56:22] [SPEAKER_07]: and for good reason. Lotus of Siam will tell our audience about it because we love our audience but

[00:56:28] [SPEAKER_07]: if you get the chance to go while you're in Vegas the food is fantastic you will not regret it.

[00:56:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Duck curry. That's what I had. I would really drank the juice out of the bowl when I was done.

[00:56:41] [SPEAKER_07]: I usually judge it. I do this with with most Asian food restaurants I go to. I usually will have the

[00:56:48] [SPEAKER_07]: same dish my first time at each one. Yeah simply just a jager so like you know at a Chinese food restaurant

[00:56:54] [SPEAKER_07]: I'll usually have chicken low-main the first time because it's kind of my baseline and then

[00:57:00] [SPEAKER_07]: at a Thai restaurant I'll usually go with like a chicken pad tie and I really said never had the chicken

[00:57:05] [SPEAKER_07]: pad tie it lotus so I had it and it's probably the best chicken pad tie I've ever had ever had in my life.

[00:57:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Yep so it's phenomenal quite for it. It was awesome and I will also say that the company that we

[00:57:18] [SPEAKER_05]: had at that dinner was extremely special we had the good fortune of having Michelle Spectt

[00:57:26] [SPEAKER_05]: sit at our table to do autographs and selfies with her fans and so we went to dinner with her

[00:57:33] [SPEAKER_05]: it was one of the highlights of the trip. It's the first time that she's been back in Vegas for five

[00:57:38] [SPEAKER_05]: years she had a fantastic time she is always I wish she just would you know be a little bit more

[00:57:46] [SPEAKER_05]: energetic to be honest with you because she's really kind of dull and kind of more intimate to me

[00:57:51] [SPEAKER_07]: and she's so so withdrawn and so so but she's in a shell it's like she's so introvert we kid she is

[00:57:59] [SPEAKER_05]: like a big bang theory explosion of energy and that's when she's having a bad day but she was

[00:58:07] [SPEAKER_05]: so much fun it was great to get together with her again spend time catch up and that's what's

[00:58:14] [SPEAKER_05]: what's so great about STLV sometimes we only get to see these people once a year and in the case

[00:58:19] [SPEAKER_05]: with Michelle it's the first time in five years and that's what makes these trips extra special

[00:58:24] [SPEAKER_05]: for me is is reconnecting with the people that we don't get to see as often as we would like to.

[00:58:31] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah and you know we talk about how it's our Star Trek family reunion I think it was probably

[00:58:37] [SPEAKER_07]: the most true in that sense this year yeah we see people we see every year which we'd love

[00:58:43] [SPEAKER_07]: we got to see people this year we hadn't seen in years and it was that much better you know

[00:58:50] [SPEAKER_07]: it was a great time to reconnect with people especially Michelle some other folks that that

[00:58:55] [SPEAKER_07]: wondered by the booth aimlessly like who are you guys oh yeah I remember you people who lifted

[00:59:01] [SPEAKER_07]: their temporary restraining orders on us which we have. Yes Nora Bell and Michael probably

[00:59:06] [SPEAKER_07]: yeah actually I lifted my TRO on you which is great now you can come within 25 feet of me and I'm

[00:59:17] [SPEAKER_07]: really want to but I appreciate that thank you yeah all in all I would call it a hugely

[00:59:24] [SPEAKER_07]: hugely successful trip yeah I'm re-energized I'm ready to do this we're getting ready to slide

[00:59:30] [SPEAKER_07]: into Trek Talks mode but I'm ready to do a whole lot more trek geeks which you know

[00:59:38] [SPEAKER_07]: I haven't really been able to say the last several years and I haven't wanted to

[00:59:44] [SPEAKER_05]: I just haven't had the mental capacity to agreed it's funny that you say Trek Talks because

[00:59:50] [SPEAKER_05]: you little bastard you put me to work because of Trek Talks but I had fun with it so I guess

[00:59:56] [SPEAKER_05]: I won't be mad at you but every year we get together to host our or to have our annual

[01:00:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Trek Talks kickoff party which is thrown by one of our dear friends Amy and you were talking to

[01:00:11] [SPEAKER_05]: her and her friend about the party and the fact that I like to make martinis as a hobby

[01:00:16] [SPEAKER_05]: and so all of a sudden I became the bartender for this event so I was bartending on

[01:00:20] [SPEAKER_05]: night at the party and I can't say that it wasn't fun because it was a blast we created a

[01:00:26] [SPEAKER_05]: we created a special Star Trek theme list of drinks that unfortunately we went through in like

[01:00:33] [SPEAKER_05]: half an hour gone there were no more we ran out of everything because everybody wanted them so

[01:00:37] [SPEAKER_05]: I might got there on the second party bus they were all gone they were gone I'm like we didn't

[01:00:42] [SPEAKER_05]: order enough vodka so next year we will make sure that we have a lot more so that everybody can

[01:00:48] [SPEAKER_05]: can partake in the in the accoutrement even if I that's not the right word for that no it's not at all

[01:00:55] [SPEAKER_07]: even if we have to contribute to the party fund it happened to do it to ensure that I get a

[01:01:01] [SPEAKER_05]: drink did I say that allowed did you get a shot at least did you get one of the shots no I didn't

[01:01:09] [SPEAKER_05]: all right well you know you're you're an angry drunk song like I got I got one of your made up

[01:01:15] [SPEAKER_07]: concoctions after you're in out of vodka which was okay oh that's right yeah we instead of using

[01:01:20] [SPEAKER_05]: the raspberry vodka we substitute a vanilla vodka for some reason everybody liked it so okay

[01:01:25] [SPEAKER_07]: the raspberry vanilla you know they taste so much like no they don't know somebody said use

[01:01:31] [SPEAKER_05]: the vanilla it's kind of like making a Hawaii drink I'm like all right but it worked so okay

[01:01:35] [SPEAKER_07]: I mean you had enough blue curse out there to kill a small village or at least make it look like

[01:01:41] [SPEAKER_07]: smurf town we didn't run out of that that's sure no I get to I love blue curse out I if there's a

[01:01:46] [SPEAKER_07]: drink that has blue curse out in it I will I won't order it yeah even if it has coconut in it because

[01:01:52] [SPEAKER_07]: I love blue curse out um half the reason why I wanted to go to curse out or my crews the last time

[01:01:58] [SPEAKER_05]: and I did so because they're actually a blue curse out factory there I just don't really there is

[01:02:04] [SPEAKER_07]: oh okay there is they make a great many things there what the the blue curse out look or is just one of

[01:02:10] [SPEAKER_07]: the things they do so they also do um uh lotion's hand sanitizers other spirits okay

[01:02:18] [SPEAKER_07]: figure they got enough alcohol on the property one that may cancel and it's a yeah

[01:02:23] [SPEAKER_05]: it's like it's like a plan I've never been there so okay I have I wanted to go since I

[01:02:29] [SPEAKER_07]: used to see those crimson travel commercials on channel 56 in the 70s you know they show you

[01:02:34] [SPEAKER_07]: where you could go with crimson travel and curries out would always come up with those

[01:02:38] [SPEAKER_07]: was brightly colored buildings and there's a kid I'm like I want to go with air so I finally

[01:02:43] [SPEAKER_05]: went well congratulations I'm glad you did you didn't bring me anything though

[01:02:48] [SPEAKER_07]: I brought you me let's give it enough that's right I'm sorry I forgot yeah and so so

[01:02:57] [SPEAKER_07]: convincingly you uttered that statement I guess I shouldn't be surprised

[01:03:02] [SPEAKER_07]: so all in all you know now that I feel like Vegas is back on track and some of these other

[01:03:08] [SPEAKER_07]: smaller cons that are happening if you have the opportunity if you have the budget

[01:03:14] [SPEAKER_07]: if you have the vacation time to go to Vegas I think you should avail yourself of the opportunity

[01:03:21] [SPEAKER_07]: if it's doable because it's not like any other convention you're ever going to go to and it's

[01:03:28] [SPEAKER_07]: energy and it's programming in the people that you'll see the experience alone I think

[01:03:36] [SPEAKER_07]: really sets Vegas on a different level as far as conventions go yeah I agree um I want to I want

[01:03:42] [SPEAKER_05]: point out one thing um I have talked to you there is a chance that I may not be at next

[01:03:48] [SPEAKER_05]: years S.T.L.V but I'm not I'm not saying that definitely at all but there is a chance if we if I am

[01:03:53] [SPEAKER_05]: there but and we do go and we travel together to the airport from the airport because we'll be

[01:03:58] [SPEAKER_05]: on different flights again I'm going to I'm going to I'm going to request something of you right now

[01:04:01] [SPEAKER_05]: here on today's podcast the day we leave we don't go to bed we did that we just don't because

[01:04:09] [SPEAKER_05]: we went to bed at like 11 o'clock the day before we left and we were in the lobby to get in

[01:04:15] [SPEAKER_05]: our Uber at 240 wide and we even bother going to bed why do we go to bed we went we were walking

[01:04:21] [SPEAKER_05]: food to the lobby to go out and in the bar the sci-fi sisters were still there party and Amy was

[01:04:26] [SPEAKER_05]: there party and why did we even bother going to bed because our entire for the fact that we went

[01:04:31] [SPEAKER_05]: to bed for three freaking hours and we should have just stayed up I slept I don't I don't think

[01:04:36] [SPEAKER_05]: I have ever ever slept on a plane the entire length of the flight but I slept from Vegas to

[01:04:43] [SPEAKER_07]: Chicago did not wake up once so you're telling me the strategy is when we arrive in Vegas to get

[01:04:50] [SPEAKER_07]: a good night sleep the first night when we leave Vegas to get no sleep at all so that it all balances out

[01:04:55] [SPEAKER_05]: exactly that's I think that is a fantastic idea you know I've never thought of you is really

[01:05:01] [SPEAKER_07]: exhibiting all that much logic before but I have to say for everything there is a first time

[01:05:09] [SPEAKER_05]: wouldn't you agree Admiral? Yep absolutely it happens once in a blue curse al moon it'll happen buddy

[01:05:17] [SPEAKER_07]: we're gonna use that phrase from now on once in a blue curse al moon right that down

[01:05:22] [SPEAKER_05]: all right hashtag it do it because I'm gonna forget quite I can't believe it on X because I'm not on X

[01:05:31] [SPEAKER_07]: best news I've heard all week yeah I'm old I forget I forget they I can tell you my childhood telephone number

[01:05:38] [SPEAKER_07]: I cannot tell you what I just was gonna say I do not I don't think I snow it on the plane

[01:05:48] [SPEAKER_05]: you care I wouldn't care because that's just the way I am I may have snored it a little bit no

[01:05:55] [SPEAKER_05]: no in on an inhale kind of like but I don't know if I did enough because I was sleeping so there you go

[01:06:00] [SPEAKER_07]: yeah I've I've reached this phase in life if I went up snored on the plane and somebody doesn't

[01:06:05] [SPEAKER_07]: wake me up that's on them right yep I'm gonna try you know to mitigate that because theoretically

[01:06:11] [SPEAKER_07]: I shouldn't because I'm sitting up right and I usually don't decline my seat not that it really

[01:06:17] [SPEAKER_07]: goes that far yeah but I've got a neck pillow and everything so my head stays in one place

[01:06:24] [SPEAKER_07]: theoretically I shouldn't snore but if I do there's really not much I can do

[01:06:30] [SPEAKER_07]: either wake me up or put on your noise canceling head before you go go no no I can tell you never

[01:06:39] [SPEAKER_07]: ever am I gonna want to listen to wham or even reference it

[01:06:45] [SPEAKER_05]: now I have my headset on and I have the fan noise plan in my headset so I fall asleep like a baby

[01:06:52] [SPEAKER_05]: and and we were on final approach when I woke up I think it was like less than five minutes

[01:06:57] [SPEAKER_05]: when I woke up before we touched down in Chicago or I touched down it was pretty great

[01:07:01] [SPEAKER_07]: yeah I had a stop in Dallas which wasn't bad I wasn't there very long maybe less than an hour

[01:07:09] [SPEAKER_07]: yeah and I slept on both of my legs once I got to Raleigh it was hotter than the hinges on the

[01:07:15] [SPEAKER_07]: gates of hell with humidity okay yes it was let me tell you but we'll we'll talk about

[01:07:22] [SPEAKER_07]: tropical storm jabby in the outtake a little bit okay um yeah this is exactly how I feel

[01:07:29] [SPEAKER_07]: when I hear Dan's voice barely but it's not the medzi's the comment is oh maybe that's me

[01:07:37] [SPEAKER_07]: electrocuting you I don't know I don't think so no all you know that's smart I think you'd

[01:07:42] [SPEAKER_07]: electrocute yourself before actually of the ability my accident okay there's actually a villain

[01:07:47] [SPEAKER_05]: in the incredible Hulk comic book called Zack and he was an electricity monster and it was

[01:07:53] [SPEAKER_05]: what he's Zack yep I'll see if I can find him online yeah please alright that would be just so

[01:08:01] [SPEAKER_07]: scintillator um oh dick because you detect the level of sarcasm with which I just did

[01:08:10] [SPEAKER_05]: the Jade you stayed up for this shit I don't know what you're doing okay well actually it's not

[01:08:15] [SPEAKER_05]: bits and up bedtime over there yet is it it's not I think you mean Jude that's a Jade sorry

[01:08:21] [SPEAKER_05]: of dude hey Jude don't look back dude I don't know you don't even know the song you hate the Beatles

[01:08:28] [SPEAKER_07]: I do I do I I I don't know why he's your favorite he just he just forgot your name for

[01:08:33] [SPEAKER_05]: I it's not so much right now okay first of all I didn't forget his name second of all

[01:08:37] [SPEAKER_05]: it's me I can't say my own name right from time to time Dan done dumb dumb dumb

[01:08:49] [SPEAKER_05]: maybe I mix up Kate with I don't know whatever I I I own it I made a mistake it happens

[01:08:54] [SPEAKER_05]: every single episode yeah I made a mistake 10 years ago um 317 episodes back

[01:09:01] [SPEAKER_07]: dude you will do podcast I should have just kept that thought to myself and just um

[01:09:08] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah I think yeah how much non fun you would have had these past 10 years pal you know I used to

[01:09:13] [SPEAKER_07]: go to Vegas without you and been perfectly happy at least if you don't go next year I might actually

[01:09:20] [SPEAKER_05]: get to stay in a hotel I love well you gotta stay three of anyway right you just talk about it a minute

[01:09:25] [SPEAKER_07]: ago you talked about it said I would stay there but if coconut is paying for it then I would have

[01:09:32] [SPEAKER_05]: stayed somewhere I really love okay I'm gonna have a sweet at the art again oh my god no no no I

[01:09:42] [SPEAKER_07]: I I don't know if I'll stay at the Rio next year if you're not going if you are I will but

[01:09:46] [SPEAKER_05]: I'll tell you what um one of the other things we talked about was you know how I have always wanted to

[01:09:52] [SPEAKER_05]: a cosplay of you from season two of Picard with that black suit that he's gotten just looks fantastic

[01:09:59] [SPEAKER_05]: that might happen you know to actually have your ass in Vegas for that I'll tell you what if this

[01:10:05] [SPEAKER_05]: if this goes through and I'm able to get this made by my dear friend Brooke I might be there

[01:10:10] [SPEAKER_05]: just for that if anything because I guess I have wanted to do that I don't give a shit about you man

[01:10:15] [SPEAKER_07]: I'm going to win some of our patrons it's not our campers that you would go to see

[01:10:19] [SPEAKER_07]: not our dear friends at fan sets that's your new friend at section 31 supply that's not our

[01:10:25] [SPEAKER_07]: sisters or anyone else on the network you would go for your stupid cosplay all right whatever

[01:10:38] [SPEAKER_07]: and feel guilty the band five year mission nice segue very very good no we get a good segue

[01:10:46] [SPEAKER_07]: thank you thank you I'm a master of segues I really and I mean I had one the literary kind

[01:10:52] [SPEAKER_07]: not the time you ride not the two wheeler okay um yeah no I can't even walk what makes people think

[01:10:59] [SPEAKER_07]: I could get on a motorized thing where it's controlled by how I lean I would pay money to watch

[01:11:05] [SPEAKER_05]: you try to use one of those things like on a dock near the ocean I guess my ass I'd pay money to

[01:11:11] [SPEAKER_07]: watch you do one of those things because you would you would crack your head open I am I my balance is

[01:11:17] [SPEAKER_07]: like nothing else it's like nothing because it's not there wow anyway yeah we we do love the

[01:11:27] [SPEAKER_07]: band five year mission we're so grateful for you know letting us use their music each and every week

[01:11:32] [SPEAKER_07]: here on trek geeks um all those albums there's year one you're two your three your four

[01:12:30] [SPEAKER_05]: savage curtain in the hotel room one night we did get very far because everybody was following

[01:12:34] [SPEAKER_05]: sleep it had been a it had been a long day what was worth about watching start track together

[01:12:39] [SPEAKER_05]: is that it turns into like mystery science theater 3000 and we just you know just like start

[01:12:44] [SPEAKER_05]: making fun of different languages great but I've got a very short farc as in based on savage curtain

[01:19:56] [SPEAKER_02]: quickly to the ping-bong down yeah all right go ahead say it something you said

[01:20:02] [SPEAKER_05]: how many times did i say that Vegas like 200 like too many

[01:20:09] [SPEAKER_07]: it would have been better if you were quoting Schwarzenegger not something quoting some guy who is

[01:20:16] [SPEAKER_07]: there is i know but it's still fun but if you don't get to the chopper all weekend long i would

[01:20:20] [SPEAKER_02]: find it completely hilarious yeah okay it's fantastic get the chopper get to the chopper it's

[01:20:27] [SPEAKER_07]: get to the chopper and it's like your chopper and chopper and you're not going there

[01:20:33] [SPEAKER_07]: we're not going there no no wow see that's why arrived home on monday afternoon yes i got in well

[01:20:44] [SPEAKER_07]: before dinner time which is great and rallian that was owned by like one o'clock your

[01:20:47] [SPEAKER_07]: local time and i got reports that we were going to get hit by tropical storm Debbie

[01:20:56] [SPEAKER_07]: on Thursday okay it's like well okay well i've lived through tropical storms and hurricanes in

[01:21:01] [SPEAKER_07]: New England but i'm here to tell you they're very different in the carolinas

[01:21:05] [SPEAKER_07]: because usually by the time they get to New England they've been over land for a lot longer yeah

[01:21:10] [SPEAKER_07]: and it's like a bad thunderstorm growing up in New England you and i are used to forecast

[01:21:16] [SPEAKER_07]: in the winter of snowfall that sound like eight to fourteen inches you know five to ten inches yeah

[01:21:23] [SPEAKER_07]: we were forecast for five to nine inches of rain rain between Thursday and Friday

[01:21:30] [SPEAKER_05]: and we got about eight and a half inches oh my gosh wow yeah and it wasn't even it was

[01:21:36] [SPEAKER_05]: that a tropical was it hurricane level one by the time it hit it wasn't even lower

[01:21:40] [SPEAKER_07]: it was a tropical storm wow that's a lot of rain after it arrived here it became a tropical

[01:21:45] [SPEAKER_07]: depression yeah but it it those abarbans just nailed our area of eastern north carolina

[01:21:53] [SPEAKER_07]: and the winds weren't bad yeah and it seriously was just the rain the other problem is

[01:21:59] [SPEAKER_07]: as we spent a full 24 hours under tornado watches you know the difference between the tornado

[01:22:06] [SPEAKER_07]: warning and a tornado watch is a warning means the a tornado could happen right a watch means

[01:22:13] [SPEAKER_07]: all of the things that could cause a tornado are in the mix and a tornado could be imminent where

[01:22:19] [SPEAKER_07]: you are is it a day around no it's not so here's the best comparison okay if you compare it to tacos

[01:22:27] [SPEAKER_07]: a taco warning means we could have tacos a taco watch means we have all the ingredients for tacos

[01:22:33] [SPEAKER_07]: and taco time is coming so get ready I had tacos I saw a meteorologist dropped that graphic once

[01:22:45] [SPEAKER_07]: it may have even been cadium not sure but I would not be surprised but it yeah it was scary we had a

[01:22:55] [SPEAKER_07]: couple of tornadoes touched down within five miles of us here oh my real me or it doesn't happen

[01:23:02] [SPEAKER_07]: but there was one fatality in one of the tornadoes about 15 miles from here which is sad but

[01:23:08] [SPEAKER_05]: it could have been a lot worse we so the remnants when it got up here we had some showers and wind

[01:23:16] [SPEAKER_05]: and not even strong wind it was no there was nothing by the time it got up here I would not just

[01:23:20] [SPEAKER_05]: safe go ahead if that's a lot of rain your backyard must be moist I gotta say only one quarter of

[01:23:27] [SPEAKER_07]: really flooded yeah the rest of our because we have a septic system the rest of our drainage

[01:23:31] [SPEAKER_07]: really did a wonderful job I don't think that analogy I'm 100% agree I'll find the graphic I'll

[01:23:39] [SPEAKER_07]: post it to Patreons but it certainly was something I'm glad that I was home for it because our dog

[01:23:48] [SPEAKER_07]: is a bell it was just a mess I'm sure and we had to keep pretty much keep her medicated throughout

[01:23:52] [SPEAKER_07]: weekend there was some there was also some rain on Friday and Saturday but not nearly the level that

[01:23:58] [SPEAKER_07]: it was on Thursday we we kind of ourselves immensely lucky good good I'm glad everything's okay

[01:24:08] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah you were you were telling me that you were still under that that watch you're warning for

[01:24:14] [SPEAKER_05]: a long time I was like wow that's usually when they happen up here it's for like we'll get like

[01:24:19] [SPEAKER_05]: messages on Alexa and it's for like 20 minutes right for like thunderstorms not even anything

[01:24:26] [SPEAKER_07]: like as dangerous as tornado so yeah well I have an app to recommend and that is the red cross

[01:24:35] [SPEAKER_07]: emergency app I found it extremely helpful they broadcast the alerts from the national weather

[01:24:42] [SPEAKER_07]: service and know of before anybody else if you are about to experience severe weather or yeah there's

[01:24:49] [SPEAKER_07]: the threat of it you can set up alerts for it it really was fantastic and keeping us informed the other

[01:24:56] [SPEAKER_07]: thing that was fantastic is I was watching the local ABC affiliate here in the rally area and

[01:25:02] [SPEAKER_07]: when one of these tornado watches was called and I have to tell you actually we're right about

[01:25:08] [SPEAKER_07]: the whole watch versus warning thing I screwed it up I'll show you okay warning was called

[01:25:15] [SPEAKER_07]: they actually were able to zoom down into street level the tell wow reads in the given neighborhood

[01:25:21] [SPEAKER_07]: in the given town could be affected so it it really was amazing because they say you know people on

[01:25:30] [SPEAKER_07]: you know else treated or whatever you know get to your safe place right now

[01:25:34] [SPEAKER_07]: yep as you were in the most serious threat so it it was good to know that those kind of resources

[01:25:42] [SPEAKER_07]: are available obviously we had power we could have watched it on our phones obviously because they

[01:25:47] [SPEAKER_07]: were sharing that live to live to the web yep it was it was super helpful to know that you know

[01:25:55] [SPEAKER_07]: there's information available and you don't have to just wonder and worry all right so

[01:26:01] [SPEAKER_07]: it was like nothing I've ever experienced before that's awesome cool I'm glad to see God

[01:26:08] [SPEAKER_05]: see that you're safe Dan was finally right about something I don't know if that's ever going to happen

[01:26:12] [SPEAKER_07]: again so I just wanted to make note of it um of course you didn't do it as a ticker so I didn't want

[01:26:16] [SPEAKER_05]: to do it as ticker I wanted it to be blasted right there so everybody could see it and read it and it

[01:26:20] [SPEAKER_07]: would say I just deleted my mind here here is the comparison oh all right and I did mix it up

[01:26:28] [SPEAKER_07]: but I had the I had the definitions right just for the wrong words so a taco watch or hurricane

[01:26:34] [SPEAKER_07]: watches when all the ingredients are in place for tacos they happen a taco warning or tornado

[01:26:40] [SPEAKER_07]: warning means we're having tornadoes in the area right now gotcha all right can remember

[01:26:46] [SPEAKER_07]: everything about tacos because I love tacos okay I don't love tornadoes no I don't think many

[01:26:52] [SPEAKER_05]: people do like tornadoes unless they're watching the movie Twister I don't I don't know

[01:26:59] [SPEAKER_05]: maybe this analogy helps now I don't know no no I'm hoping I won't but she says no

[01:27:05] [SPEAKER_05]: oh dearly says that makes more sense smile burlacum on now you obviously on bill side

[01:27:10] [SPEAKER_07]: it's because somebody should be you've got everybody else in the audience on your side you

[01:27:17] [SPEAKER_05]: oh goodness gracious anyway so that was my return home yeah for one mine mine was not nothing

[01:27:26] [SPEAKER_05]: nothing like that at all it was you know uh super pick me up got to to get tackled by the dogs

[01:27:34] [SPEAKER_05]: when I got home which is always like one of the best parts of returning homes the dog and

[01:27:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Arya's now at the age where she's not as um mobile and she used to be so she'll get it on the bed

[01:27:45] [SPEAKER_05]: and she'll just start crying like cry happy that I'm home it's it's adorable she'll just start whining

[01:27:50] [SPEAKER_05]: and and and and and puzzling which was great and then I just I just got back into the grind

[01:27:55] [SPEAKER_05]: that's what I've been doing since Tuesday of last week back in the grind looking for stuff trying

[01:28:00] [SPEAKER_05]: to get too down and and depressed and stressed and freaked out and scared um so and then

[01:28:08] [SPEAKER_05]: to help with that yesterday oh I went to the store and got myself something that I needed

[01:28:14] [SPEAKER_05]: and I got my body the jaws Lego set that I have been so excited about

[01:28:21] [SPEAKER_05]: ever since it's been announced I'm very happy about it I even got my little chief brody already put

[01:28:27] [SPEAKER_02]: together oh we're gonna need a bigger boat you need a bigger boat you jerk yep so very

[01:28:34] [SPEAKER_05]: very cool like that very much and they actually had it in stock so that was even better because

[01:28:38] [SPEAKER_05]: it's been you can't find it's already back ordered to like October yeah it's crazy oh yeah I've been

[01:28:43] [SPEAKER_07]: saying packing things for my little trek no care trying I've been adding something pretty much

[01:28:48] [SPEAKER_07]: of weeks why added some eagle must starships over here mostly starfleet ones the hero ships from all

[01:28:54] [SPEAKER_07]: yeah um I've got my my defiant right here but you can't show it there's a Voyager there's the

[01:29:01] [SPEAKER_07]: Enterprise D there's the sea there's the bay there's there would be the refit but that's broken but

[01:29:07] [SPEAKER_07]: another store has this is the annex on one my added to who are a fun co-pop oh yes there she is

[01:29:14] [SPEAKER_05]: triple triple trouble in the fence it's nice fifty-a-hour and wallow it's belt buckle I

[01:29:21] [SPEAKER_07]: would wallow it's belt buckle I've got the 200 episode hand painted tile that Emily from yes

[01:29:27] [SPEAKER_07]: discovering trek proud of you made us yep and I've got my tricordered which you saw earlier

[01:29:32] [SPEAKER_07]: one of the other things I impact which I haven't put up yet because obviously my trekking's Delta

[01:29:37] [SPEAKER_07]: is leaning against the wall there and something you made for me more than a decade ago yeah

[01:29:44] [SPEAKER_07]: is this needle pulling a cross stitch cross stitch whatever I don't know the fucking difference get off

[01:29:50] [SPEAKER_07]: my ass this cross stitch that you did for me yeah ages ago yeah which I absolutely love so I still have

[01:29:58] [SPEAKER_07]: the apparatus with which to put a hanger on the back yep yeah of course it's got your handwritten

[01:30:04] [SPEAKER_07]: yes but this will obviously go in my trek notes oh nice do you still have the um do you have

[01:30:11] [SPEAKER_05]: the trek the the do it's gonna be close yeah that one that one was one that I'll say I just

[01:30:17] [SPEAKER_05]: remember things sort of like sports we were watching one of our rewatches of grim up in main

[01:30:25] [SPEAKER_05]: when I did that trekgeeks Delta one for you and that one was was harder than other ones I've done

[01:30:33] [SPEAKER_05]: because there was really no pattern to go by I had to create it myself yeah computer and then

[01:30:40] [SPEAKER_05]: do all the different colors that so that one was I liked that one that was a fun one I enjoyed doing

[01:30:44] [SPEAKER_05]: that one too as I always enjoy all my stitches so I'm coming across all kinds of stuff that

[01:30:49] [SPEAKER_07]: you know I've I've had for the longest time I'm gonna start packaging up my groups of action

[01:30:54] [SPEAKER_07]: figures by series yep I'm gonna keep some of them but others I'm just gonna offer to send to people

[01:31:01] [SPEAKER_05]: if they pay for shipping and can't be hammer yep which is which is nice boys and then

[01:31:07] [SPEAKER_07]: boys yeah and regarding your your cross needle um I don't know which one I call it so I'm

[01:31:14] [SPEAKER_07]: gonna call it cross needle or needle stitch I like that too um I would love talk I was during

[01:31:21] [SPEAKER_07]: her actually was drinking hurricanes during the tropical storm that's interesting just to put

[01:31:28] [SPEAKER_05]: there I'm not a huge taco fan but I will say those tuna polka tacos that we had at El

[01:31:35] [SPEAKER_05]: Sugundo Sol the night we weren't that night we went in Vegas Tuesday night we're absolutely incredible

[01:31:40] [SPEAKER_07]: they were phenomenal look at this we got a thumbs up on the on the taco explanation yes there

[01:31:46] [SPEAKER_05]: you find it you sure that's the explanation or maybe she's just saying we're I am sure

[01:31:52] [SPEAKER_07]: got your mouth damn so yeah it's uh it's good to be home now it's weird to think of North Carolina

[01:32:04] [SPEAKER_07]: is home now yep well I don't need this kind of shade haily wow bill butchering needle where

[01:32:10] [SPEAKER_05]: cow and salt and milling damn but I do different no I trust you just have to stick together girl

[01:32:19] [SPEAKER_07]: there you go yeah okay okay if this had been something you'd created with your own hands

[01:32:25] [SPEAKER_07]: I would not have butchered it I just want to run that out I see all right okay because I just don't

[01:32:30] [SPEAKER_05]: respect them I think it's probably because I rub off on you and I always make mistakes in how

[01:32:34] [SPEAKER_07]: I pronounce things so you just did that I'm naturally I do it to be in sympathy do you yes I know

[01:32:40] [SPEAKER_07]: you cross stitch Dan cross needles see what I have to put up with people I don't see this is

[01:32:50] [SPEAKER_07]: what you default do you know you do this in Vegas all the time I do this you were under

[01:32:54] [SPEAKER_07]: force work I do the worst of none of my let me finish you were the worst of fender given me shit

[01:33:00] [SPEAKER_07]: it every opportunity what yeah don't fain ignorants I work so hard on these projects for the

[01:33:08] [SPEAKER_05]: friend that I love so much and this is what I get cross needle yeah cross needle this turkey neck

[01:33:17] [SPEAKER_07]: didn't I talk about how wonderful it was you did you did all right then shut your bitch mo

[01:33:27] [SPEAKER_05]: oh my goodness gracious it's funny it's funny it's funny it's also where and is not yes that's true

[01:33:33] [SPEAKER_05]: it's funny they say that I don't I said this to you in Vegas I don't think I'm going to be collecting

[01:33:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Star Trek stuff anymore one because I don't have the room for it too because the licenses that

[01:33:48] [SPEAKER_05]: are getting signed by paramount are fricking ridiculous a thousand dollars for a watch

[01:33:56] [SPEAKER_05]: and which is worked down from 1500 yeah and so I'm just gonna stick with fancets pins pretty much

[01:34:02] [SPEAKER_07]: that's it yeah the occasional funco you know other things they're not going to do any more

[01:34:11] [SPEAKER_05]: playmates action figures I already talked about I know I was talking about say what what the hell

[01:34:15] [SPEAKER_05]: what what the hell well when you work on right now haily is gonna take you like six more years to finish

[01:34:20] [SPEAKER_05]: song really concerned wow see I'm saying that in a good way because the one she's making is gigantic

[01:34:27] [SPEAKER_05]: no that's how you meant it though not exactly how I meant it she knows how I meant it no I'm not concerned

[01:34:33] [SPEAKER_07]: yeah okay or no to quote to quote Dan Davidson like when I have to put up with

[01:34:42] [SPEAKER_07]: yeah okay wow okay yeah so much shade Dan I know what you should let up a little bit

[01:34:52] [SPEAKER_07]: talking about you oh oh sorry you know you have the self awareness of Michael Scott

[01:35:00] [SPEAKER_06]: which is to say you have absolutely zero no no no no no no no no no

[01:35:06] [SPEAKER_07]: he says don't curse me I'll curse him for the both of us and I know that's not what she means

[01:35:12] [SPEAKER_07]: all right Jerker you ready to move on with our lives and yeah do things and yeah do some stuff

[01:35:19] [SPEAKER_05]: try to try to find some gainful employment work on some jaws legos and get ready for

[01:35:28] [SPEAKER_05]: what's going to be a pretty awesome conversation the next time we get together and talk because uh

[01:35:32] [SPEAKER_07]: I think it's going to be very interesting I have some thoughts and I have some feelings okay

[01:35:37] [SPEAKER_07]: alright I will I will preface this now and I'll stay at it again in that episode I love the new

[01:35:42] [SPEAKER_07]: Star Trek stuff yep exactly I'm a fan of what they're doing yep we're going to talk about resonance

[01:35:48] [SPEAKER_07]: we're going to talk about connection with the material we're going to talk about a great many things

[01:35:55] [SPEAKER_07]: but none of it is out of you know none of it is an a critical nature of the new shows yep

[01:36:02] [SPEAKER_07]: none of it is in you know to be negative by any means and we'll draw that distinction very

[01:36:08] [SPEAKER_07]: clearly when we do the show next time but this is all just examining

[01:36:14] [SPEAKER_05]: possibly getting older it's Star Trek I don't know I don't know yeah so I totally get

[01:36:21] [SPEAKER_05]: we coming from because when you loaded the idea yesterday to me I'm like yeah that's a great

[01:36:28] [SPEAKER_07]: discussion yep and I'll preface it using I'm not going to use the quote now but

[01:36:34] [SPEAKER_07]: I'm going to preface it using the quote from Star Trek that I gave you in chat yesterday because I think

[01:36:40] [SPEAKER_07]: that's kind of how I'm feeling and this is just a tease the audience a little bit

[01:36:45] [SPEAKER_07]: but if you watch Star Trek 6 you might understand what I mean okay yep and and Burley hit it right

[01:36:51] [SPEAKER_05]: on the right on the head thank you little some of us are older than others damn I know 55 and a month

[01:36:58] [SPEAKER_07]: yeah which means I got month and a half yeah that's all right all right I go take a nap

[01:37:05] [SPEAKER_05]: in the middle of the afternoon again yep all right everybody patrions thank you so much we love

[01:37:13] [SPEAKER_07]: you people viewing this on YouTube later thank you so much check out our patreon and at

[01:37:19] [SPEAKER_07]: trekkees.com slash patreon no patreon.com slash trekkees there you go most good up today

[01:37:23] [SPEAKER_05]: that's I always I'm the one who says it all the time so I get it loving logic y'all talk to you about it

[01:37:28] [SPEAKER_07]: see you next time damn here we are Star Trek last Vegas here we are it's Saturday

[01:37:34] [SPEAKER_07]: it is and you and I have probably experienced I mean I may be speaking for you I may not be but

[01:37:43] [SPEAKER_07]: from me I think this has been one of the more fun and exciting and energy filled

[01:37:50] [SPEAKER_07]: conventions that we've seen since well before the pandemic oh I agree 100% it's been the energy has

[01:37:57] [SPEAKER_05]: been palpable is that a word that's in actually can use and make sense well in this case you are

[01:38:03] [SPEAKER_07]: correct I'm not sure where you heard it I don't I'm not sure it was correct seen it on a bathroom

[01:38:07] [SPEAKER_05]: wall or something I'm not really sure but it has been amazing it's been extremely busy I mean

[01:38:11] [SPEAKER_05]: it's I will say right now it's Saturday it's quite enough for us to actually talk right now but

[01:38:16] [SPEAKER_05]: there's probably something giant going on in the main theater which is why there's a little bit

[01:38:20] [SPEAKER_05]: of law but other than that as we always like to point out since the convention open Wednesday night

[01:38:26] [SPEAKER_05]: for the people that pot special tickets fans that's has been five and six deep pretty much all

[01:38:32] [SPEAKER_05]: going crazy it's been busy we've had so many people coming over to talk to us here at our table

[01:38:39] [SPEAKER_05]: it really has been a fantastic time and it's an I'll say it it's something I've needed so it's been great

[01:38:45] [SPEAKER_07]: no I totally agree I think that one of the things that is really felt different this year

[01:38:50] [SPEAKER_07]: is that it was busy on Thursday yeah which is normally a very light attendance day

[01:38:56] [SPEAKER_07]: it would though the the vendor hall was as is an elbow yep at various times Friday

[01:39:02] [SPEAKER_07]: there were only more people and today Saturday it is probably the most energetic I have felt this

[01:39:09] [SPEAKER_07]: room it really is there's an electricity in this room that actually makes you feel like

[01:39:14] [SPEAKER_07]: this is an exciting thing we've met so many people who are just sharing their love of Star Trek

[01:39:19] [SPEAKER_07]: who are just excited to be here and after last year's strike year oh yeah nobody could talk

[01:39:24] [SPEAKER_07]: about Star Trek what right right at a pedal there this is it feels like we're finally after five

[01:39:33] [SPEAKER_05]: years finally back to normal yeah absolutely we've seen so many people that we always love to see

[01:39:39] [SPEAKER_05]: every year we've met so many new people that we've become friends with and they're they're here

[01:39:45] [SPEAKER_05]: sharing their love of Star Trek and the other thing you talked about it's been five years

[01:39:49] [SPEAKER_05]: we're seeing people that we haven't seen in five years so first time they've been back in five

[01:39:54] [SPEAKER_05]: years and it's like they've come home again and it's really been it's really been pretty awesome

[01:39:59] [SPEAKER_07]: I feel like in a way for us you know with all these changes at the Rio with all these changes

[01:40:04] [SPEAKER_07]: you know to the hotel itself yeah it's become a different environment but an increasingly

[01:40:10] [SPEAKER_07]: familiar environment and I really feel like we've come home yeah you know last year was different you

[01:40:18] [SPEAKER_07]: it was not perfect we couldn't have the conversations we wanted to have the hotel was a little bit

[01:40:25] [SPEAKER_07]: indissiree because of the management you know transfer right this year it seems like

[01:40:31] [SPEAKER_07]: the ownership of the Rio is really listened to every ounce of feedback that was provided by

[01:40:38] [SPEAKER_07]: attendees of this particular convention and made infinite strides forward yeah they really have

[01:40:44] [SPEAKER_05]: starting with the room redesigns you know we've talked about you know the Rio as and I always

[01:40:50] [SPEAKER_05]: had the reputation of being the nicest cleanest most you know welcoming visually of the hotels

[01:40:58] [SPEAKER_05]: and Vegas but they have really done a good job in those rooms they look they look new they look

[01:41:03] [SPEAKER_05]: fresh they got great new furniture in there it's really been great and it's gone around the entire

[01:41:09] [SPEAKER_05]: hotel the ibar which we used to frequent two regularly every year has is now gone and it's now a new

[01:41:19] [SPEAKER_05]: bar which I can never remember the name of it so I call it ibar too I know you remember the name of it

[01:41:24] [SPEAKER_05]: the lap alone thank you very much and that is spectacular I mean there's no ramps or stairs to

[01:41:29] [SPEAKER_05]: hurt yourself on because you know me and the drinks are awesome the bartending staff there is fantastic

[01:41:35] [SPEAKER_05]: there's one particular bartender who we've been talking to and he's been helping us who's been great

[01:41:41] [SPEAKER_05]: and it's awesome I'm glad that they've listened to what the fans have had to say after last year

[01:41:47] [SPEAKER_05]: and after the disaster that was ballies in my opinion it's good we said last year that we've come home

[01:41:53] [SPEAKER_07]: we've really come home this year yeah and that's it I feel like they've they've well I'm

[01:42:00] [SPEAKER_07]: back up and say this way I used to dreadstaying at this hotel yes you did and honestly we've

[01:42:05] [SPEAKER_07]: only ever stayed here because you wanted to stay here right because it was easier it was close like close

[01:42:10] [SPEAKER_07]: to everything yeah I was happy to stay at flimingo or someplace else in Uber over this is the first

[01:42:15] [SPEAKER_07]: year that I've enjoyed staying at the Rio and we've stayed here at least ten times yeah what I think

[01:42:21] [SPEAKER_05]: there's only been one time when we didn't and that was the first year well except for ballies but right

[01:42:25] [SPEAKER_07]: but the flimingo the first year when I came with you I look forward to being here next year

[01:42:32] [SPEAKER_07]: because they've made so many changes in the last year that I'm excited to see what they do

[01:42:38] [SPEAKER_07]: with this next year period yes yes to the changes they make and the upgrades that occur

[01:42:46] [SPEAKER_07]: are room finally for after ten years of this place there's not suck yes yep and and they're still

[01:42:52] [SPEAKER_05]: doing stuff now I mean if you're in the main area where the casino is much of that is like

[01:42:58] [SPEAKER_05]: is like board it off and they've got they've got curtains and everything because they're still

[01:43:01] [SPEAKER_05]: doing upgrades right on the main floor near the cashier's cage which is interesting

[01:43:08] [SPEAKER_05]: and I'm sure next year that'll look great they turned what anybody who knows the the

[01:43:13] [SPEAKER_05]: the resort I keep thinking Disney the hotel if you're going towards impending a tower there

[01:43:18] [SPEAKER_05]: used to be a gift store a gift shop on the left-hand side that was like the entire length

[01:43:24] [SPEAKER_05]: of the of the entire walkway down to the elevators they've gotten rid of 90% of that

[01:43:30] [SPEAKER_05]: they put in a giant Starbucks that they still can't handle the influx of Star Trek fans yeah

[01:43:34] [SPEAKER_05]: don't look me 50 minutes to get my order today after I mobile ordered it

[01:43:39] [SPEAKER_05]: but then that gift shop is much smaller so they're making changes because they know they need to

[01:43:44] [SPEAKER_05]: now there's another Starbucks closer to the show area which is about probably six

[01:43:50] [SPEAKER_05]: minute walk from here anyway but it is closer but that's been closed for two years yeah

[01:43:54] [SPEAKER_05]: they need to open up that Starbucks so the real people are listening get that Starbucks open

[01:43:59] [SPEAKER_05]: you because I'm drinking Starbucks here which is something I never do and we don't can

[01:44:02] [SPEAKER_07]: don't it's guy well I mean when your option is Starbucks yes you kind of defaulted

[01:44:07] [SPEAKER_05]: exactly and I my god I've been loving it too it's actually not bad it's just expensive

[01:44:10] [SPEAKER_07]: I think the food options here have definitely been an upgrade yes food court the new food court

[01:44:15] [SPEAKER_07]: replacing the old carnival world buffet has been actually really really fantastic I was surprised

[01:44:22] [SPEAKER_07]: I was skeptical at first because I think most food courts in Vegas really are not impressive at all

[01:44:29] [SPEAKER_05]: very impressive here they have cheese sticks they've got ramen see yes they're right you did

[01:44:34] [SPEAKER_05]: they've got sushi they've got chicken tenders they've got burgers I know missing something

[01:44:39] [SPEAKER_05]: and a bar they got a bar they're too right in the center of it it's pretty fantastic and we

[01:44:43] [SPEAKER_05]: meet there a couple of times and and the prices are good and the foods good and it fills you up

[01:44:48] [SPEAKER_05]: if you don't get just little portions they're big big big the prices are Vegas good

[01:44:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Vegas good yeah I've heard hold let's change that up yes yeah Vegas good yeah yeah

[01:44:58] [SPEAKER_07]: is there been anything so far about this con and this experience that you'd like to see change

[01:45:07] [SPEAKER_07]: your different in years going forward particularly next year one of the things that's always

[01:45:14] [SPEAKER_05]: difficult to make work correctly is the flow of people in the vendors room yep and it's gotten

[01:45:24] [SPEAKER_05]: worse well let me give you a little bit of an example we're here in the prime row which is pretty

[01:45:29] [SPEAKER_05]: good also actually so if you probably as I like to call it yes it's always great it's always busy

[01:45:35] [SPEAKER_05]: here so there's always traffic what they have done they started this a couple of years ago they

[01:45:40] [SPEAKER_05]: used to be vendors the entire the entire vendor's room was vendors now after the first two rows

[01:45:46] [SPEAKER_05]: when you walk in the front door it's all autographs so they have autographs everywhere and if you

[01:45:52] [SPEAKER_05]: get certain people lined up or certain people sitting to do autographs the line for that table is

[01:45:58] [SPEAKER_05]: ridiculous and blocks everything there's got to be a way to figure out how to have autographs

[01:46:04] [SPEAKER_05]: that doesn't do that the downside to that is you can't have like a whole separate autographs

[01:46:10] [SPEAKER_05]: area it has to be in the vendors room because you want to see your Star Trek idols

[01:46:14] [SPEAKER_05]: in the vendors room when you're walking around so it's a given take you got to figure out how to

[01:46:19] [SPEAKER_05]: better do it I don't know how queue lines would work or just do it in a way that it's frustrating we're

[01:46:25] [SPEAKER_05]: not selling anything right but I know that it can be frustrating for people that are trying to

[01:46:29] [SPEAKER_05]: sell things and they can't because there are 50 people in line for somebody 15 yards away

[01:46:35] [SPEAKER_05]: blocking your table from selling your product and I think that that's one of the things

[01:46:40] [SPEAKER_07]: I've noticed continuing the trend from last year is that there are less vendors in the vendor

[01:46:46] [SPEAKER_07]: hall yeah it's at least half of the space is dedicated to autographs which I'm fine with but

[01:46:52] [SPEAKER_07]: what they really need is a separate space about this big true just for autographs but I mean it

[01:46:58] [SPEAKER_05]: the real you're just not going to get that right what I would like to see him do and this is you know

[01:47:02] [SPEAKER_05]: logistically I'm not sure how they could do it and also I've got to say certain people want certain

[01:47:08] [SPEAKER_05]: spots in the vendors room whether that's good or bad or annoying which it probably can be for some

[01:47:15] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah some people if they took all of the vendors because there are plenty of vendors in the vendors

[01:47:19] [SPEAKER_05]: hall and put it in one section of the vendors hall like the front half and made the second half

[01:47:25] [SPEAKER_05]: all the autographs that wouldn't get in the way the vendors it's still have all of the people here

[01:47:29] [SPEAKER_05]: in the vendors hall so you can see him and talk to him while you're also going around and buying

[01:47:33] [SPEAKER_05]: all your Star Trek swag right that might be something but again I'm not I'm not a logistics

[01:47:40] [SPEAKER_05]: person I'm not logical I'm I'm kind of you know done right smart I'm dumb yeah but that's that's what

[01:47:46] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm thinking I don't know about you I think most of my I don't want to say criticism because that's

[01:47:53] [SPEAKER_07]: not what I'm doing but suggestions have to do with content I've heard and this is really just based on

[01:48:00] [SPEAKER_07]: the observations of other people who we know I think that there was a real shock among

[01:48:06] [SPEAKER_07]: convention attendees that there was no involvement by Roddenberry this year I don't I don't think

[01:48:12] [SPEAKER_05]: I'll ever understand that that's just crazy and this we don't we don't know all the details we're obviously

[01:48:17] [SPEAKER_07]: not party to that discussion because it's not our business but the conventional wisdom is that

[01:48:23] [SPEAKER_07]: Roddenberry in creation could not come to an agreement on how that would work okay so I really think that

[01:48:31] [SPEAKER_07]: that is a missed opportunity yeah I've heard I've heard some rumblings from folks that they didn't

[01:48:40] [SPEAKER_07]: necessarily like the programming on the stage hosted in and programmed by the Ingloria's Trek

[01:48:46] [SPEAKER_07]: Spurts there's another podcast all right featuring like Mark Altman and Darren Dr.man and several other

[01:48:52] [SPEAKER_07]: people yeah they have a fantastic podcast which is great but I think people were hoping for

[01:49:00] [SPEAKER_07]: different types of content which is fine right so those are the the two main things I have heard

[01:49:07] [SPEAKER_07]: from people coming to our booth to tell us what they because we've asked them all what do you

[01:49:12] [SPEAKER_07]: think of the content so far right and overwhelmingly so that has been the top two

[01:49:18] [SPEAKER_05]: things people wish we're different also and this I'm not saying I'm saying this tongue in cheek when I say it

[01:49:24] [SPEAKER_05]: people and saying when you guys doing your things and we're like well I'm not happening yeah

[01:49:30] [SPEAKER_05]: we did not get invited to do anything this year which gave us the opportunity to be here a lot more

[01:49:35] [SPEAKER_05]: at our booth and had a great time but yeah we didn't have any content of course we don't have the

[01:49:40] [SPEAKER_05]: party we didn't have the party last night which was which was sad but till we've had all the

[01:49:45] [SPEAKER_05]: bunch of people coming over you know to get their pen and everything like that I agree with you people

[01:49:49] [SPEAKER_05]: have been kind of like giving the quizzical what's going on look with some of the content I don't

[01:49:55] [SPEAKER_05]: know what's going on like in the main vendors haul I'm sure that's greatest it always is they

[01:49:59] [SPEAKER_05]: always got the big panels out there especially today we were walking the hallway this morning

[01:50:04] [SPEAKER_05]: and I saw arman and Nicole on stage on one of the big monitors that they have out in the hallway so

[01:50:09] [SPEAKER_05]: that's all there but I unfortunately couldn't tell you anything that's been going on

[01:50:14] [SPEAKER_05]: in the glorious room as I'll call it I will say though as we've gone into Vix lounge to get

[01:50:19] [SPEAKER_05]: either a drink or something to eat there have been some great panels going on there we saw

[01:50:23] [SPEAKER_05]: the sci-fi sisters up there one day and they were killing it which is always great and of course

[01:50:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Sunday I don't know if anybody this might be I'm not sure if this is a spoiler or not

[01:50:33] [SPEAKER_05]: and by the time they hear it it will have happened already our dear sci-fi sister to me is going to

[01:50:43] [SPEAKER_07]: jala and that is incredible I when I heard that because we get no idea we have no clue yep

[01:50:49] [SPEAKER_07]: I am so thrilled for to me and the sisters this is this is fantastic you know it

[01:50:58] [SPEAKER_07]: this is the kind of thing that should be celebrated that yeah creation is done a great job

[01:51:02] [SPEAKER_07]: of incorporating the involvement of more podcast more people who have these conversations on a regular

[01:51:08] [SPEAKER_07]: basis to talk about things that fans want to hear about so I know for a fact that's going to be

[01:51:16] [SPEAKER_05]: a killer panel it is without a doubt yep and I'm so happy for her and for all the sisters they

[01:51:23] [SPEAKER_05]: have an incredible presence here they're in the vendors room also and whenever anybody comes over

[01:51:27] [SPEAKER_05]: to our booth and they're looking at our cards of all the different shows they're taking the sci-fi

[01:51:31] [SPEAKER_05]: sisters cards like there's nobody's business that's 100% true good they're not taking any of our cards

[01:51:37] [SPEAKER_05]: no it's not that's okay well you suck I'm fantastic but I will say there's been some incredible

[01:51:44] [SPEAKER_05]: cosplay here this weekend also I'm looking at a bill right now from TOS just over to my right

[01:51:52] [SPEAKER_05]: oh it didn't see it's just an absolutely incredible I want to see I want to ask him to run down the

[01:51:56] [SPEAKER_05]: hallway like like Frank Gorshin yeah and see if he can do the run but it's great this meant some

[01:52:01] [SPEAKER_05]: amazing cosplay there's about an eight foot we just talked about Captain's holiday there's an

[01:52:07] [SPEAKER_05]: eight foot uh or gone for gone walking around here today which is pretty incredible they actually it

[01:52:14] [SPEAKER_05]: actually has to have like spotters to make sure it doesn't like walk into anything it's pretty cool

[01:52:19] [SPEAKER_07]: I yes and I noticed that instantly I think it's fantastic yeah I the cosplay never disappoints

[01:52:25] [SPEAKER_05]: no I really never really never oh god okay ladies and I have to interrupt right now because

[01:52:29] [SPEAKER_05]: the one and only Casey Shasky is walking up to our booth right now as we are recording I'm going to

[01:52:37] [SPEAKER_05]: ask him to say hi but I'm also going to ask him to behave himself and I don't know if that's something

[01:52:41] [SPEAKER_05]: that can actually happen um can I be bleaked or you can just say it uh hey fucking high

[01:52:50] [SPEAKER_05]: hey okay all right we love you two in case you know you know Loki and Bill he's got a

[01:52:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Loki bill like baseball shirt on we're just talking about this awesome cosplay over here to

[01:53:02] [SPEAKER_05]: all right and he's got a bill uh Loki, Loki, Loki how do you pronounce it? Shatner print

[01:53:08] [SPEAKER_07]: sprannouts is at seven different ways in the background episode. This is one of those times where I

[01:53:13] [SPEAKER_07]: think that I can't really give you shit from his pronouncing something. Amazing Captain Pike cosplay

[01:53:18] [SPEAKER_05]: just walked by with the hair and everything too looks fantastic looks great. Speaking of which

[01:53:24] [SPEAKER_05]: I got I got something I want to talk about completely different from the yeah what did you

[01:53:28] [SPEAKER_07]: take charge programming with show and that's what I make me irrelevant like you know what I do

[01:53:32] [SPEAKER_05]: well I need your input on it so you know because you're smarter than I am. I want to talk about

[01:53:36] [SPEAKER_05]: that that clip of season three of strange and worlds that came out where they all turn

[01:53:42] [SPEAKER_05]: into Vulcans spoiler alert spoiler alert if you haven't seen it go see it I'm not you know I don't

[01:53:46] [SPEAKER_05]: know what episode it is I don't know the context behind it I just know that it happens and so

[01:53:51] [SPEAKER_05]: they turn into Vulcans and Pike turns into a Vulcan and literally his hair is about a foot and a

[01:53:57] [SPEAKER_07]: half tall. Well that would say we've we've been introverted by our presenting sponsor. Yes the great

[01:54:04] [SPEAKER_07]: wonderful ginger giant that he is ginger giant Lou from fans. I think they're what they're

[01:54:11] [SPEAKER_01]: recalled a ginger no it's not such a lie no it's such a lie Lou it's so great to see him

[01:54:17] [SPEAKER_01]: you guys killing it this week I'm sure. It's Star Trek we we are the we are Star Trek that

[01:54:25] [SPEAKER_01]: we've said that since beginning with why we're still around and we're we're still tied to you guys

[01:54:31] [SPEAKER_01]: which I don't know how that happened but no I think you were drunk maybe yeah yeah we know but you

[01:54:37] [SPEAKER_01]: you know this it isn't it isn't Vegas without you guys I would lose probably half of my excitement

[01:54:44] [SPEAKER_01]: about coming here if we didn't get to see you guys same you know it's our family. Well if yeah I

[01:54:50] [SPEAKER_05]: did you you guys are family it's been an incredible weekend it's always fun we have a good time

[01:54:54] [SPEAKER_05]: these guys it fancets and I don't know if this is a good thing or bad thing it's a poor planning on

[01:54:59] [SPEAKER_05]: your part or just like you're awesome sold out of the poker chip for this year on Thursday

[01:55:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Thursday amazing usually the least attended day of the fun absolutely amazing you guys have

[01:55:10] [SPEAKER_05]: killing it you've been five six rows deep all weekend long because everybody knows that you guys

[01:55:14] [SPEAKER_05]: put out the best stuff because you know what your pins have character fortunately I don't

[01:55:21] [SPEAKER_01]: we know we know so we decided to put it well what character we had into our pins

[01:55:28] [SPEAKER_01]: and you're right the poker chip you know last year we did the same number of poker chip pins

[01:55:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and we still have the quirk one available here at the show so you go into it thinking all right

[01:55:39] [SPEAKER_01]: that's probably not a bad number we only have a handful left but we still have a handful left so

[01:55:48] [SPEAKER_01]: we ordered the same number and literally sold out in two days that's crazy maybe should

[01:55:53] [SPEAKER_01]: order more for next year dummy no I don't do that part of the business I'm in charge of

[01:56:01] [SPEAKER_01]: you're the face of the franchise oh my gosh this tells me the neolix is insanely popular

[01:56:07] [SPEAKER_01]: yes yeah yep yeah it it it it was really a beautiful pin this year too and last year

[01:56:13] [SPEAKER_01]: it was great also but it was really the red sparkle just yeah and we got more coming so

[01:56:19] [SPEAKER_01]: because we always like to release them to the fans outside the United States or right inside

[01:56:24] [SPEAKER_01]: United States people didn't attend the show and we're gonna have some more in in September

[01:56:30] [SPEAKER_01]: of both the poker chip and the show pin the lower deck show pin because that one's that one is

[01:56:39] [SPEAKER_01]: gonna sell out today what are the odds of getting a holiday moopsy pin very good yeah very good what

[01:56:47] [SPEAKER_05]: you've been you've been listening to now he's been reading here I think he's still your notebook

[01:56:51] [SPEAKER_01]: behind the desk what do you yeah that's probably going to be what we end up doing as a holiday

[01:56:56] [SPEAKER_01]: now that was just off the top my head and because I'm fucking brilliant we also follow with

[01:57:02] [SPEAKER_01]: the the delta as a different delta on the holiday pin it's nice we really want to build

[01:57:09] [SPEAKER_01]: that you can hang them on your tree and yeah let me ask you this man what has been your favorite

[01:57:15] [SPEAKER_01]: part of the convention so far this week well that's in curl meeting the fans that's the you know we

[01:57:23] [SPEAKER_01]: set in front of a computer screen for 50 weeks the year yeah and that's all we that's our interaction

[01:57:34] [SPEAKER_01]: that's all we get to see and it's I can't tell you how many people come up here and say

[01:57:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so and so and it's like I handle 50 you know 104 times I handled their packages right

[01:57:49] [SPEAKER_01]: throughout the course of the year and we don't we don't really get to meet them so it's

[01:57:55] [SPEAKER_01]: the best part is getting to meet it's a family reunion it is it has we've been saying that for

[01:58:00] [SPEAKER_05]: so long now it's you know it's not so much the panels and it's great to see all the stars

[01:58:04] [SPEAKER_05]: and everything but it's just reunion with the family that you only get to see once a year yeah

[01:58:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I would have to say that no matter who would walk up to our booth as a performing member

[01:58:16] [SPEAKER_01]: of any of the shows we would be of course we'd love to see them and you get to know them absolutely

[01:58:20] [SPEAKER_01]: but it's it's the friendships of the people who send you notes or tag you into something who

[01:58:28] [SPEAKER_01]: have our product hanging on their walls that's that's the best part and I have to tell you something

[01:58:35] [SPEAKER_01]: John and I were walking through the hall today and eight years ago this week there was in the

[01:58:46] [SPEAKER_01]: hall we were walking down the hall and it was impossible to find two people three people in a row

[01:58:53] [SPEAKER_01]: who didn't have something of ours all that's amazing it's in their houses it's on their jackets it's

[01:58:58] [SPEAKER_07]: on their briefcases it's pretty humbling I said because people are using your product to celebrate

[01:59:05] [SPEAKER_07]: their fandom yes and that's gotta be kind of next level it's one thing to come up with this

[01:59:10] [SPEAKER_07]: product idea and to market it and to sell it but it's another thing to see people adopting it

[01:59:15] [SPEAKER_01]: to their love of this franchise it's one of the reasons we don't go and try to land more licenses

[01:59:21] [SPEAKER_01]: because we just want to stay start trek focused start trek specific it's caused a lot of other

[01:59:29] [SPEAKER_01]: havoc when you try to get outside of where you what really good at right and we're not going to do

[01:59:34] [SPEAKER_01]: that so we're stay we're sticking in the delta quadrant and we're happy to be there I tell you what

[01:59:40] [SPEAKER_05]: you mentioned in a second ago this year's show pin the lower dex pin I got to say I think it's

[01:59:46] [SPEAKER_05]: the best pin you've ever done it's gorgeous it's beautiful it's got glitter so you know I'm going

[01:59:50] [SPEAKER_05]: to like it it's it's awesome and I gotta ask you're probably gonna sell out of those I would

[01:59:56] [SPEAKER_05]: imagine do you think that you'll be getting additional batches of those to also have over

[02:00:02] [SPEAKER_01]: on your website at some point yeah we ordered we ordered more of those the day we sold out

[02:00:08] [SPEAKER_01]: of the poker chip because we know we're gonna sell out of those as well and we're close

[02:00:13] [SPEAKER_01]: and I don't think we'll make it to today on them so we'll have another hundred hundred

[02:00:19] [SPEAKER_01]: and fifty of both of those landing in September there the molds are done which is we need

[02:00:23] [SPEAKER_01]: production time so we got to fight for some production time and then we'll we'll get him back

[02:00:28] [SPEAKER_01]: here quickly awesome they've already been ordered so I mean they're they're in they're in the

[02:00:33] [SPEAKER_07]: process you're doing a great job of this man on the street thing and handing your mic over

[02:00:37] [SPEAKER_05]: to the lead on his target because I'm sitting down and he's standing up that's because you don't

[02:00:42] [SPEAKER_05]: do much I don't exercise I'm a big you know big tub

[02:00:45] [SPEAKER_05]: fact golf fact golf yeah I'm fact golf so let me ask you a question since I get you right here

[02:00:50] [SPEAKER_05]: because we had this argument yesterday there is a golf pin it fan sets a micro group pin

[02:00:54] [SPEAKER_05]: and Bill says that it's actually me and you just call it golf that's it that's exactly right

[02:00:59] [SPEAKER_01]: in fact I will post a picture I will post a picture of the box in our warehouse

[02:01:06] [SPEAKER_01]: that says Dan Davidson and then we have a little bubble beside the character that says

[02:01:13] [SPEAKER_07]: but I'm golf so now you son of a bitch you have two pins two pins yes one of you is Thanos

[02:01:20] [SPEAKER_07]: and one of you is called and I'm over here right with nothing but unfortunately the Thanos

[02:01:25] [SPEAKER_05]: one is not one that you can get that's just a special one that I had not sure it's just
