[00:00:40] Hi, this is Armin Schimmerman. I play Quark on Star Trek Deep Space Nine and you are listening to the biggest little show this side of the Gamma Quadrant. It's the Trek Geeks Podcast with Dan Davidson and Bill Smith. You figure out who's who.

[00:01:46] You know, I don't know who puts this broadcast package together, but he does a heck of a job. Oh, hello. Greetings to you, Trekkies, Trekkers, and Trek Geeks all across the galaxy.

[00:01:57] Welcome to the Patreonical recording of Trek Geeks. I am so excited to be here tonight. It feels like it's been forever.

[00:02:06] It was some might say it's been a long time. Yes, it has been a long time. And of course, by, you know, a long time that pretty much describes my entire almost 30 year friendship with my co-host.

[00:02:19] You know, if I traveled back into time in the 1950s, I would leave him at that army base to be studied as an inferior form of life.

[00:02:29] He is the largely alien Dan Davidson. And Dan, great to be here, buddy.

[00:02:34] Great to be here, too, I guess. I'd rather go back to the 40s where I'll put place. But if you want to send me back to the 50s, you know, we reach, brother. That's fine. That's good.

[00:02:45] Good to see you, buddy. Good to be here. It has been a while. I'm excited. We're going to talk some fun stuff tonight.

[00:02:51] And it's always good to see. It's been a long time since we sat down in front of these here microphones and had some fun.

[00:02:56] It has. And I think you've picked a good episode with which to pick that back up, as you know.

[00:03:02] Tonight, as the as the the episode card shows, we're talking about probably one of our favorite Deep Space Nine episodes because there's such a great job at at downshifting from all the serious stuff.

[00:03:13] Yeah, we we figured, you know, we were going to have a different topic tonight.

[00:03:16] But Halloween's right around the corner. We always like to do a Halloween themed episode as we get close to October 31st.

[00:03:24] And we said, hey, let's do it this week. So I'm heading out on a trip in a couple of days.

[00:03:28] So we're not going to be able to to record before I leave.

[00:03:32] So let's talk Little Green Men Deep Space Nine.

[00:03:35] It's one of our favorite episodes, season four, episode eight.

[00:03:39] Probably the best Ferengi family episode that they that they did on Deep Space Nine.

[00:03:44] And I'm really excited to talk about it because I just love the whole idea of Roswell and and and all the things that they did to make this work in this episode.

[00:03:52] So I'm pretty excited.

[00:03:53] You know, it's not a well-known fact, but you yourself actually are a little green man.

[00:03:58] We don't talk about it very often.

[00:03:59] You are clearly from Mars or some other planet.

[00:04:03] I think the thing that amazes me is that back then we thought that Martians were actually little green men and that there were Martians.

[00:04:13] That's right.

[00:04:14] Don't remember the Orson Welles show.

[00:04:17] We're the worlds.

[00:04:18] Yeah, we're the worlds.

[00:04:19] Yeah.

[00:04:19] The radio show.

[00:04:20] And everybody thought we were being invaded back then.

[00:04:22] Yeah, absolutely.

[00:04:23] It's great that a science fiction show that we love so much does a great job in this episode of talking about great science fiction.

[00:04:32] Yeah.

[00:04:33] Does it make sense?

[00:04:34] No.

[00:04:35] Sure.

[00:04:35] I'm just going to have a sip of my drink while we talk about it.

[00:04:37] Well, in which case, Dan, let's pivot into one of my favorite aspects of streaming and that's what are you drinking?

[00:04:45] Well, in honor of little green men, I got to hold it up so I can see it.

[00:04:49] I've got a little green drink.

[00:04:50] This is a fall martini that my wife made up a couple years ago.

[00:04:55] It's a caramel apple martini.

[00:04:57] It's got butterscotch schnapps, sour apple pucker, and green apple vodka with Halloween sugar colored rim.

[00:05:05] And it's my go-to every fall.

[00:05:07] I have several of these.

[00:05:09] And I may have several tonight because it's been a while since I've sat with you and I need to numb my brain.

[00:05:14] I hope someone might argue your brain's been numb for about 55 years.

[00:05:19] And as Ryan's asking, hold on, let me turn it around.

[00:05:22] It is a Disney glass.

[00:05:23] Of course, it's a Disney glass.

[00:05:24] That's just a silly question.

[00:05:26] So there we go.

[00:05:27] I don't want to spill any.

[00:05:28] Yeah.

[00:05:29] So on my keyboard.

[00:05:30] Yeah.

[00:05:30] That'd be amazing.

[00:05:31] What are you drinking?

[00:05:32] I am drinking just a glass of bourbon.

[00:05:35] It's Frey Ranch bourbon.

[00:05:37] It's probably one of my favorites.

[00:05:39] I figured that the general in Little Green Men would probably drink his bourbon.

[00:05:44] Although I had ice to mine because I like it chilled.

[00:05:48] Which is good.

[00:05:49] It's just the way I am.

[00:05:50] Some people like it straight.

[00:05:52] I like it on the rocks to each their own.

[00:05:55] I'm sure I'm committing some cardinal sin somewhere that somebody is going to freak out about.

[00:05:59] Probably Ryan.

[00:06:01] But it is what it is.

[00:06:03] And I like what I like.

[00:06:05] It tastes good.

[00:06:06] You like it.

[00:06:07] And that's what counts.

[00:06:07] Yes.

[00:06:08] And don't ever forget it.

[00:06:10] Some might say that I like you and they would be factually inaccurate.

[00:06:15] That is 100% true.

[00:06:17] Absolutely.

[00:06:17] You know, while we were talking about doing this.

[00:06:22] Dan, I don't want to interrupt this.

[00:06:24] I'm hearing some breaking news that we probably want to talk about.

[00:06:29] I don't mean to derail Little Green Men.

[00:06:31] But let's go ahead and let's talk about this.

[00:06:34] Dan, this just in from the Trek Geeks newsroom.

[00:06:38] Yes.

[00:06:39] Breaking news.

[00:06:40] Dan Davidson, no longer a deadbeat.

[00:06:42] That's right.

[00:06:43] Dan Davidson has found gainful employment and accepted an offer.

[00:06:47] So he is no longer a scumbag.

[00:06:52] Well, that may not be the case.

[00:06:55] Well, that's true.

[00:06:56] But Dan, congratulations.

[00:06:58] I think your layoff lasted about as long as mine did last summer.

[00:07:01] Yeah, pretty much.

[00:07:02] Yep.

[00:07:03] And I know the feeling it's like to get that job for the first time.

[00:07:06] Yeah.

[00:07:07] So I'm so psyched for you, buddy.

[00:07:09] Thanks.

[00:07:10] I know that everyone else is excited for you, too, including Christina Werther, who was on time.

[00:07:15] Yes.

[00:07:17] Well, wonders never cease.

[00:07:19] No, I got to say I'm extremely excited about this.

[00:07:23] It was a little over three months, just like you.

[00:07:26] Probably the most single stressful three months I've ever gone through in my life.

[00:07:30] And that's including a lot of stuff that I've gone through in my life.

[00:07:33] It was just something that, as you know, I was not dealing with very well.

[00:07:37] Put out over 400 applications in that three months.

[00:07:41] I talked to five human beings, which is just an unbelievable ratio.

[00:07:48] And I will say of the five, this was the one that I wanted more than any of them.

[00:07:54] So I am extremely excited.

[00:07:57] I'm very relieved.

[00:07:58] And I'm really looking forward to the new chapter.

[00:08:01] The company just seems amazing.

[00:08:03] Their mission is one that I can just really latch on to.

[00:08:07] Their culture is fantastic.

[00:08:09] So I'm very excited.

[00:08:11] I got a couple more weeks before I start getting back into the grind.

[00:08:15] So I'm leaving for Disney in a couple of days.

[00:08:18] And it's going to be the most relaxing Disney vacation I think I've had in a long time.

[00:08:22] Because I don't have to worry about anything anymore.

[00:08:25] Well, you know, and you had a similar experience to me that, you know, when you're looking for a job that long.

[00:08:31] And you're just, you're not making any traction or gaining any headway.

[00:08:35] It really has an effect on your mental health.

[00:08:38] And I know that last summer, I wound up going on antidepressants and I'm still on them.

[00:08:43] Because I discovered that I also have, you know, chronic severe depression, which apparently I've had almost all my life and didn't know.

[00:08:51] So, you know, but I know you were pretty low.

[00:08:56] And people were rightfully concerned about you.

[00:08:58] And I'm glad that you're doing a little better now.

[00:09:00] No, thanks, man.

[00:09:01] And I appreciate everybody who reached out to me.

[00:09:03] I had some great conversations with people when things were at their lowest.

[00:09:07] And I'm going to call it out right now.

[00:09:08] I got a phone call from John Billingsley one afternoon.

[00:09:10] That was probably more helpful than anything else I could have expected during the whole time that I was looking.

[00:09:16] It's amazing the amount of stress and worry that comes in when something like this happens.

[00:09:22] And I've said it before.

[00:09:23] I consider myself very lucky.

[00:09:24] I had gone my entire career without being laid off.

[00:09:27] This was the first time that I experienced something like that.

[00:09:30] I really didn't think it was going to be hard to get something right away because we're always looking for somebody in my field.

[00:09:35] But the job market out there right now is probably the worst it's been in in decades.

[00:09:38] And in the middle of the summer, it's even worse.

[00:09:41] So things got bad real fast.

[00:09:43] And they I mean, it was just there was no there was no light at the end of the tunnel.

[00:09:47] And it was getting really, really bad for me.

[00:09:49] But things turned around.

[00:09:51] And when they turned around, they turned around fairly quickly.

[00:09:55] So that was good.

[00:09:56] So now I'm just waiting for my start date.

[00:09:59] And I'm looking forward to contributing again and putting my skills to use and and putting a smile on my face again, which is really one of the most important things.

[00:10:07] I got to hand it to my wife.

[00:10:08] She put up with a lot of a lot of sad days with me and a lot of frustration.

[00:10:12] And as did you and other people I talked to.

[00:10:15] But it's all behind me now.

[00:10:16] I'm looking forward to the future.

[00:10:18] And and I can't wait.

[00:10:28] You know, buddy, one of the things I know you're really excited about, you know, again,

[00:10:32] is your ability to roll around partially clad in a bunch of pins from fansets.

[00:10:41] And of course, fansets are presenting sponsor.

[00:10:43] We want to take this moment to thank them, as always, for being in our corner 100% of the time, man.

[00:10:51] Absolutely.

[00:10:52] Best thing that has ever happened to us coming out of Vegas was the relationship that we have formed with with John and Lou and everybody at fansets.

[00:10:58] And as always, we want to thank them and talk about the great new pins that they have.

[00:11:02] You know, they've had recent jaunts across the country.

[00:11:04] Now you're going to want to add these brand new pins to your collection, except for the first one, because it's already sold out.

[00:11:09] But I'm going to talk about it anyway, because it's just so cool.

[00:11:12] And I have mine right here.

[00:11:13] So I'm going to brag about it.

[00:11:14] They were recently in Nashville.

[00:11:16] So they had the wonderful con exclusive pin featuring data playing guitar.

[00:11:21] So spot on for the Nashville convention.

[00:11:23] Maybe it'll show up once again, but I'm not too sure.

[00:11:26] So if you don't want to miss out on the other convention exclusive, go out to fansets.com right now and get it, because once it's gone, it's gone.

[00:11:35] And that's the one from the trek to Chicago.

[00:11:36] It's everyone's favorite gangster book, the Chicago mobs of the twenties.

[00:11:41] It's the convention exclusive pin with Kirk and Spock from piece of the action.

[00:11:45] They're just absolutely beautiful.

[00:11:47] Also, don't forget to grab the brand new discovery president's UFP emblem pin, as well as the strange new world's fleet inspector Delta.

[00:11:56] They are all available right now, except for the Nashville pin over at fansets.com.

[00:12:02] You have some of those pans, right?

[00:12:03] The pins right there in your hot little hands.

[00:12:05] You were showing me before the show.

[00:12:06] Right here.

[00:12:07] Yeah, look at that.

[00:12:08] Uh-huh.

[00:12:09] I got mine.

[00:12:10] They're not grimy.

[00:12:10] They're not grimy from your dirty hands yet.

[00:12:12] Well, they will be because I'm drinking.

[00:12:17] Again, of course, you know, I'm going to tell you what I always tell you.

[00:12:19] Head on over to fansets.com, right?

[00:12:22] Well, not right now, because you're watching an awesome podcast, but right after the show.

[00:12:26] And get that convention exclusive pin and the other pins Dan mentioned, put them in your cart and at checkout.

[00:12:33] Be sure to enter this special discount code you see on your screen, Trek Geeks, for 10% off your entire order.

[00:12:39] That's Trek Geeks in all capital letters with no spaces.

[00:12:41] And of course, don't forget, when you spend more than $30 on fansets.com, you automatically get free shipping in the United States.

[00:12:49] Fansets, our pins have character.

[00:12:52] And we thank our friends at Fansets for being the presenting sponsor of the Trek Geeks.

[00:13:10] Come on now to our main body of content, and that is Little Green Men, the amazing Deep Space Nine episode.

[00:13:17] It's amazing it's taken us 17 minutes to get to this, hasn't it?

[00:13:21] I can't wait to see the YouTube comments once we, you know, make this public.

[00:13:25] Why did it take your 17 minutes to get to the episode?

[00:13:30] People used to do that, actually.

[00:13:31] That sounded like the Grand Nagus, actually, a little bit.

[00:13:34] Thank you.

[00:13:34] I wasn't going for Wally Sean, but I'll take it.

[00:13:38] Dan, when I think of all of the episodes of Deep Space Nine and the ones that act as really great downshifts around some very serious content, Little Green Men, for me, ranks right up there with some of the best of them.

[00:13:52] I love what this episode does.

[00:13:55] I love that it gives a platform for, you know, our first family of Ferengi on Deep Space Nine.

[00:14:01] But I love all the nods to sci-fi of days gone by.

[00:14:06] Yeah.

[00:14:07] It's really great.

[00:14:08] I said it before.

[00:14:09] It's a great science fiction show that pulls a lot of great classic science fiction into it, and it works on every single level.

[00:14:15] I don't think there's one level of this episode that didn't work.

[00:14:20] I thought it was great.

[00:14:21] Everything from the zooming in on the calendar when you find out that they're actually in 1947 and the image of the calendar itself.

[00:14:29] Everything just works great.

[00:14:31] I also love not only the nod to the great science fiction, but the nod to all the different things in Deep Space Nine that we've seen already.

[00:14:39] Cousin Gala, the Bell Riots, all kinds of things that take place in this episode, which I'm sure we'll get to in more detail.

[00:14:45] But the continuity in this episode really works, and they really hit it on all cylinders coming right out of the gate with heading off to Starfleet Academy.

[00:14:55] Well, you know, and that's the thing.

[00:14:57] I, you know, I, I, they create this time travel episode and some could argue there's, there's too many time, you know, travel episodes in Star Trek.

[00:15:06] Um, maybe this isn't one of them.

[00:15:09] Not that, not that work as good as this one anyway.

[00:15:12] Yeah.

[00:15:12] I, um, I, I love the fact that, you know, they created, well, we got to get Nog back to earth.

[00:15:18] We got to make it interesting.

[00:15:20] I know let's have him go back in time and crash land in Roswell, New Mexico.

[00:15:24] I mean, it's just, it's perfection.

[00:15:29] You know, just the idea, I can see it, you know, up on a board somewhere, you know, maybe the index card tacked to a, you know, to a cork board.

[00:15:37] And somebody says, let's have quark and rum land in Roswell.

[00:15:41] And just the brilliance of just the idea alone is fascinating.

[00:15:46] The execution is a thousand times greater.

[00:15:49] It really is.

[00:15:50] That's one of the things that I love so much about this episode is the execution of those various themes that they do in this episode.

[00:15:57] It, it, it all works.

[00:15:59] Um, now as we do with every deep dive episode that we talk about, Bill, we're going to have fun and make fun of things because it's fun to do that.

[00:16:06] And yeah, I'm going to start right off the bat.

[00:16:09] Why is every shuttle that is not Federation in Star Trek, extremely cramped and very tight and really have no movement around.

[00:16:19] Runabouts and shuttles are like, just like these gigantic football field, like rooms, except for, except for the couch bridge, um, from insurrection.

[00:16:32] All the Federation ones get the best shuttles.

[00:16:34] This one is cramped.

[00:16:35] Very, very cramped.

[00:16:36] I gotta say though, you know, if you look at, um, the Federation two man shuttle that you see in like time squared and TNG and, and some of the other ones, that thing is, is more cramped than you can believe.

[00:16:49] Can you imagine the tiny little warp core that must be back there?

[00:16:53] It's going to be about as big as your brain.

[00:16:56] No, don't give them that much credit or don't give me that much credit.

[00:16:59] I should say.

[00:17:00] Um, one of the things I did like about it is again, with continuity is if you look at all of the graphics on that shuttle craft bridge, it pulls me back to the stargazer episode from TNG.

[00:17:11] And when they were on the, on the Ferengi ship and I just think that was great how they were able to do it.

[00:17:16] I don't know if that was a Cuda who had anything to do with that, but I really liked it.

[00:17:19] And it was, it was great to see.

[00:17:21] Um, this was the first time that we really started seeing, um, Brahms genius, um, with engineering.

[00:17:30] When he was starting to go through all the different things that needed to be done when they were running into problems and how he had run tests and, and found that there was the chemo site in the, in the shuttle, uh, bay and stuff like that.

[00:17:40] It was also good to see Quark in his element of, of being a captain of his own shuttle.

[00:17:47] What was it?

[00:17:47] Quark's treasure.

[00:17:48] Was that what the name of it?

[00:17:49] I forget.

[00:17:51] Honestly.

[00:17:51] Um, but yeah, I thought, I thought all those aspects, right.

[00:17:54] It's big.

[00:17:54] And we haven't even gotten to the time travel part.

[00:17:56] I just thought the beginning of that whole part was of the episode was just a lot of fun to see get that family dynamic of them arguing and going back and forth.

[00:18:03] I thought was one.

[00:18:04] Let's talk about the best part of the opening and that's the, the auction for Nog's things.

[00:18:11] Right.

[00:18:11] In Quark's bar and wharf and the tooth sharpener, you know, that scene might seem dumb at first, but Dorne sells how much wharf loves that tooth sharpener and it's comic gold.

[00:18:25] It really is.

[00:18:25] It's really great.

[00:18:27] I want one just to have one now because of the way he does it.

[00:18:29] And I just, and when I was watching this, I'm like, Oh, I don't remember.

[00:18:32] Do they have a great little sound effect that they throw in?

[00:18:35] Sure enough, they really do.

[00:18:36] Um, and, uh, yeah, it's great.

[00:18:38] And you're right.

[00:18:39] Dorne does sell it.

[00:18:40] This is the first one where he's kind of like, and he jumps and there's like, Oh, and then he's just like, how much?

[00:18:46] I mean, that's yeah.

[00:18:47] Yeah.

[00:18:48] And it's an episode where we don't see any of the cast really, except for that first few minutes while they're there.

[00:18:55] They do a great job in that auction to send off, uh, send off Nog.

[00:18:59] Where's wharf going to get money?

[00:19:02] I understand that spend a whole episode on the, the inconsistencies of, of currency in star Trek.

[00:19:11] It drives me crazy.

[00:19:13] How much?

[00:19:14] Um, I don't know, 500 bars of gold press latinum.

[00:19:19] I mean, shoot for the moon.

[00:19:21] I mean, exactly.

[00:19:22] Yeah.

[00:19:22] Gala's moon.

[00:19:23] Yeah.

[00:19:24] Ah, very nice.

[00:19:25] Very nice.

[00:19:27] And you were right.

[00:19:28] The shuttle is Quark's treasure.

[00:19:30] Um, okay.

[00:19:31] The, the way in which they time travel, I find it pretty believable in the scope of star Trek.

[00:19:37] Um, I feel like that could be a thing.

[00:19:39] Um, you know, it's, uh, obviously they get there and, um, the fact that they just happened to land in that place.

[00:19:48] Um, it's either the greatest stroke of luck or the worst stroke of luck.

[00:19:52] And I'm not sure which it is.

[00:19:54] Yeah.

[00:19:54] Yeah.

[00:19:55] I'm going to go with the greatest because it just makes the episode that much more perfect.

[00:19:58] Um, I, I love it for, Oh, you know what?

[00:20:01] One thing we didn't talk about, but, uh, which we usually like to do right at the beginning of the episode is, is it is the eighth episode of season four.

[00:20:09] Uh, teleplay was by, uh, Ira, Stephen bear and Robert Hewitt Wolf to star Trek legends, uh, story by Tony Marbury and Jack Trevino and directed by James Conway.

[00:20:21] And you pointed out an unbelievable coincidence and cool stat about the director right before we went on air tonight.

[00:20:30] Well, yeah, I was going to save that for later when we talk about the cool things, but since you're ruining my show, um, I'm then I didn't say anything.

[00:20:37] Just press the rewind button, or you can pretend that I said it like those humans talk to the Frangie before they fix the universal translator.

[00:20:44] I got to correct you on one thing because I am learning Spanish as you know, did I say a name wrong?

[00:20:50] That never happens.

[00:20:51] Yeah.

[00:20:51] Trevino.

[00:20:52] Oh, I didn't see the tilde over the end.

[00:20:55] I didn't see that.

[00:20:56] Okay.

[00:20:57] Yeah.

[00:20:58] Oh, that's the reason you're dumb.

[00:20:59] Um, so yeah, so this episode directed by, by Jim Conway, he also directed, uh, um, a really kind of a, a second tier eighties.

[00:21:11] Quasi sci-fi movie called hanger 18 about the conspiracy about aliens at Roswell.

[00:21:17] Yes.

[00:21:18] It's, it started Gary Collins, um, who some gen Xers may remember is like a ubiquitous TV host of the time.

[00:21:25] Mm-hmm the dad from teen wolf, the movie.

[00:21:27] Yeah.

[00:21:28] And, um, it just, it, it's, it's, it's not a great movie and it's not Jim Conway's fault.

[00:21:33] Was Elliot Gould in that too?

[00:21:34] I can't remember.

[00:21:35] No, that's Capricorn one.

[00:21:36] Oh, I, I mixed that one up again.

[00:21:38] Okay.

[00:21:39] Yeah.

[00:21:39] Yep.

[00:21:40] At least I'm pretty sure Elliot Gould's not in it.

[00:21:42] I'd have to look it up.

[00:21:43] No, that's all right.

[00:21:44] Yeah.

[00:21:44] It's a, it's a cheesy campy movie, but I'll tell you what, I loved it when I was a kid.

[00:21:48] It was just one of those ones that, that, uh, I like to watch, you know, that jet taken off without a pilot at the end.

[00:21:53] Oh my goodness.

[00:21:54] I think I saw it 30 times on HBO when I was in middle school.

[00:21:58] Um, yeah, so obviously the Ferengi crash land, they wake up in this sort of, you know, medical examination room at the, the base there at Roswell and, um, their universal translators are a little on the fritz.

[00:22:14] And this for me is one of the favorite parts of the episode.

[00:22:18] Cause it reminds me of all those, you know, national geographic things where people are trying to talk to chimpanzees and get them to mimic things.

[00:22:28] Yep.

[00:22:28] But, um, but what a, what a great, great scene.

[00:22:31] It really is great.

[00:22:33] Um, it's back in the day when I watched these episodes or this episode, that scene was one that I didn't appreciate as much as I do tonight.

[00:22:42] I'm like, okay, this is just dumb.

[00:22:43] Um, why do they think that these intelligent human beings are just going to do these ridiculous looking gestures just because they're doing it?

[00:22:50] But now it really works exactly.

[00:22:53] And the nose and I'll, I just, I just, I just, I just, I was like, eh, now I appreciate it a lot more than I did back then.

[00:22:59] Um, but it is extremely funny.

[00:23:01] Um, now to me as I'm older, is that because you make stupid moves like that all the time?

[00:23:08] Like, oh, I pronounced the name wrong.

[00:23:11] I could have had a VA.

[00:23:12] Um, sorry, another Gen X reference that a lot of people aren't going to understand.

[00:23:17] Um, so, you know, in this episode, we kind of get the Genesis of the whole weather balloon myth, which I love.

[00:23:27] It is such a great nod to, to all the stupid coverups that the government engaged in with trying to tell people they didn't see, you know, unidentified flying objects.

[00:23:36] Um, we get this hardcore hard ass general who we've seen before in Star Trek.

[00:23:43] And this is one of my favorite callbacks in the entire franchise that they bring this guy back.

[00:23:50] Charles Napier is awesome in this role.

[00:23:53] Of course, you know, we reach brother from TOS.

[00:23:57] Um, it's, I, I like him in this role that I, more than I do in, in TOS.

[00:24:02] I just think he is perfect as this general, uh, with the big fat cigar and the gravelly voice and, and Colin, Colin, was it, what did he call the president?

[00:24:13] The piano playing Democrat stooge or something like that.

[00:24:16] I mean, just like that.

[00:24:17] Yeah.

[00:24:18] It just, it's the way that he brings himself in this episode out, the way that he portrays the general is, is really, really good.

[00:24:25] And I'm so glad that they were able to get Napier to do that.

[00:24:28] It's safe to say he's not voting for Harry Truman.

[00:24:30] Um, I am just throwing that out there.

[00:24:34] Yeah, absolutely.

[00:24:35] Good to see Haley tonight.

[00:24:37] Um, yes, that's exactly what it is.

[00:24:40] Haley.

[00:24:40] Wow.

[00:24:41] Okay.

[00:24:41] I get it.

[00:24:42] Not only is age deteriorating his brain cells.

[00:24:44] Um, it's he's really only got two left, so he's kind of screwed.

[00:24:48] Well, that's one more than I thought I had.

[00:24:50] So I appreciate that.

[00:24:50] Maybe that's why I got the job.

[00:24:51] It's fading fast.

[00:24:54] It's fading fast.

[00:24:56] Brian says, I don't think you can blame age for that.

[00:24:58] No, I really don't think you can either.

[00:24:59] It could just be genetics, right?

[00:25:02] Yep.

[00:25:02] Um, hey, while we're, while we're talking about that scene with the, with the, uh, the way that they're mimicking, uh, the Ferengi.

[00:25:10] One of the things that I find fascinating about this whole scene is the back and forth for the different camera angles, depending on who's talking.

[00:25:17] So when the humans are listening to the Ferengi, they are talking in a different language and it's a language that they made up and you can hear them specifically talking in a different language.

[00:25:28] When it's the other way and the cameras over the Ferengi shoulders, looking at the humans, the humans are talking, but they're playing the, the words backwards.

[00:25:40] You can see what they're saying when their mouths move.

[00:25:42] So we know it's in English, but they're just playing the words backwards.

[00:25:45] I thought that was an interesting way to handle the different languages from both species.

[00:25:50] I thought that was kind of, that was kind of a mind blowing.

[00:25:52] Well, this is the first time we ever hear the Ferengi language, you know, which is super cool.

[00:25:57] I, I wish we had heard it more.

[00:26:00] Um, did, and it was enterprises episode with the Ferengi before this or after this?

[00:26:05] I forget.

[00:26:06] It would have been after, uh, after, okay.

[00:26:08] Because enterprise didn't premiere.

[00:26:10] Yeah.

[00:26:10] 2001.

[00:26:11] That's right.

[00:26:12] Mm-hmm.

[00:26:12] So, uh, you know, this is, it's the very first time in all those episodes, we never had the Ferengi language.

[00:26:20] Right.

[00:26:20] You know, maybe about 95.

[00:26:22] I blame TNG.

[00:26:23] Um, damn it, TNG.

[00:26:26] Uh, I, that's really for me, one of the pieces of Ferengi lore that I love.

[00:26:31] I don't enjoy most Ferengi episodes largely because they're just too much about profit and

[00:26:36] Ferenginar and rain and blah, blah, blah.

[00:26:39] But this one for me is really super fresh.

[00:26:41] And the fact that we get that little nugget makes me happy as a, as a nerd.

[00:26:46] Yeah.

[00:26:46] For me, this and magnificent Ferengi are the two best Ferengi episodes that were, were ever done.

[00:26:52] I really liked that one as well, but this one is way up as number one.

[00:26:56] This one is the best one.

[00:26:57] I think by far, I really like it a lot.

[00:26:59] I like to see the relationships of Quark, Rom and Nog in this situation too, because they're

[00:27:07] far from home distance wise.

[00:27:09] They're far from home time wise.

[00:27:11] Mm-hmm.

[00:27:11] And you'll get to see a brand new dynamic.

[00:27:13] They're not usually in this peril where they have to figure things out.

[00:27:17] So, um, when I saw it and I kind of still feel this way a little bit, I, I had a hard

[00:27:24] time believing that Rom was going to go from idiot to rain man in about 2.2 seconds.

[00:27:32] Cause he does.

[00:27:33] I think it's like they flip a switch and like, Oh, Rom's a genius.

[00:27:35] Now we just didn't know it.

[00:27:37] Um, Rom it up to now has not been that bright.

[00:27:41] Right.

[00:27:42] Now, was that something that he was hiding?

[00:27:44] It's my one critique of this episode is they could have been a little better at slowly

[00:27:48] introducing that aspect of Rom before we got to 1947 and Rom's the guy who figures out

[00:27:54] the way home.

[00:27:54] And then pretty much saves everybody from the dominion.

[00:27:58] Right.

[00:27:59] Later on.

[00:27:59] See, by that point though, it's, it's believable.

[00:28:02] Yeah.

[00:28:03] Yeah.

[00:28:03] Gotcha.

[00:28:04] No, I, um, no, I agree.

[00:28:06] Um, one of the things that I will point out, it's not so much a critique, um, because

[00:28:10] it's actually one of the best aspects of the episode, but it's a critique in the way

[00:28:14] that humans are just stupid.

[00:28:17] God damn.

[00:28:18] Do people smoke a lot in the forties?

[00:28:20] Yeah.

[00:28:20] I mean the whole episode, they are lighting up at one point.

[00:28:24] The guy lights up two cigarettes in his mouth and gives one to his fiance.

[00:28:28] There's smoke coming in from the side of the screen and it becomes a talking point for

[00:28:33] quark.

[00:28:33] And it's like, man, they went over the top on the smoking thing.

[00:28:38] But again, it's something that worked because I could totally see that happening back in

[00:28:42] the forties, especially that big cigar that the general had.

[00:28:45] I mean, talk about that already.

[00:28:46] It's realistic to the period.

[00:28:48] And I think that's the thing.

[00:28:49] I mean, nowadays we look at it and go, Ooh, and it is gross, but I mean, Mad Men was the

[00:28:55] same way, you know, all the characters smoking or essentially chain smoking, which is what

[00:29:00] happens in this episode.

[00:29:01] So practically it, it fits.

[00:29:04] I mean, we wonder why so many people had emphysema and now COPD and whatever.

[00:29:09] So I, um, as much as I hate it, it's a great talking point for quark.

[00:29:15] As you say, you know, when he starts talking about, uh, you know, uh, what he knows of,

[00:29:20] of, of humans or sorry, humans, root beer, baseball, root beer, darts and atom bombs.

[00:29:32] That's, that's one thing that I did find if I've got a critique and I could be, I could

[00:29:36] be a little, a little over the top on this critique, but it's something that I think of.

[00:29:39] Uh, and I, I thought of it watching, uh, just the other day when Nog decides that he's going

[00:29:45] to pretend that, you know, they're part of this, you know, invasion force.

[00:29:49] And he goes over to the map and says that they're going to land at that big blue blob.

[00:29:54] Okay.

[00:29:55] You know what?

[00:29:56] Everybody seems maps of different planets, no matter where you are.

[00:30:00] It's pretty universal that that's a lake or a body of water.

[00:30:04] And if he's going to start fleet Academy, you would think that he has an idea of what the,

[00:30:08] what the map of the planet or even the United States looks like because he's going to San

[00:30:12] Francisco.

[00:30:13] That was a little like, okay, I understand what you're doing.

[00:30:16] I like the humor aspect of this part of the episode, but come on.

[00:30:20] The big blue blob.

[00:30:21] Yeah.

[00:30:22] The what?

[00:30:22] The big blue blob.

[00:30:24] You kind of tripped over it the first time.

[00:30:25] I did trip over it and I didn't want you to hear that.

[00:30:30] You know, uh, for me, that's a, that's a minor thing because maybe, maybe Nog forgot

[00:30:36] what it's called.

[00:30:38] You know, uh, maybe the, the word on Frank and R is something completely different.

[00:30:44] I don't know.

[00:30:45] Um, maybe he just wanted to seem dumb like Dan Davidson.

[00:30:48] Wow.

[00:30:49] Here we go.

[00:30:50] Okay.

[00:30:50] And you know, Ross brings up a great point here.

[00:30:53] Uh, Ron played the best con game of the whole series.

[00:30:56] Playing dumb is hard to do when you're really smart.

[00:30:58] If Quark knew how smart he was, the exploitation would have been epic.

[00:31:02] It's not hard to play dumb.

[00:31:04] If you're Dan Davidson, because he ain't playing.

[00:31:07] It's all, it's all a hundred percent right here, baby.

[00:31:10] I am taking shot after shot, after shot.

[00:31:12] It's been a while.

[00:31:13] And you know what?

[00:31:13] You can, that's all right.

[00:31:15] I've had it stored up.

[00:31:16] I know.

[00:31:17] It's okay.

[00:31:17] It's like you're constipated with insults.

[00:31:19] It's okay.

[00:31:20] We didn't have to go there.

[00:31:22] Um, but now that you're no longer a deadbeat without a job.

[00:31:26] Um, not yet.

[00:31:27] I haven't started yet.

[00:31:30] Oh, so kind of could be still.

[00:31:33] Yeah.

[00:31:33] Anyway, no, you've, you've got a job.

[00:31:35] Screw you.

[00:31:36] Um, thank you.

[00:31:39] I like the portrayal of the junior officers in this episode.

[00:31:45] You know, the general is going to be this sort of hard ass tough as nails, dude.

[00:31:50] The other people in this episode, like, you know, his minion who, who questions the Ferengi,

[00:31:56] you know, or even the, um, the nurse and her fiance.

[00:32:00] Um, I really liked the way they're portrayed for the most part.

[00:32:04] Um, because I can see these characters in a, in a fifties movie, quite frankly.

[00:32:09] Yes, I, I agree.

[00:32:11] Yeah.

[00:32:12] Um, I kind of wish this would have been a little bit, maybe too bonk, bonk on the head.

[00:32:17] And this may be something that people have talked about in the past.

[00:32:20] I kind of would have loved to have seen nurse Garland as maybe a not descendant, but the

[00:32:28] backwards reverse ancestor ancestor of Kirk ancestor could because she's got the same idea of what

[00:32:37] it's going to be like in the future and stuff like that.

[00:32:39] It would have been a great tie in.

[00:32:41] I get that they didn't because it would have been maybe a little bit too much, but I really

[00:32:45] would have loved it if they made that reference, even if she wasn't named Kirk, but just was

[00:32:51] an ancestor of, of Kirk or somebody that we know in Star Trek history.

[00:32:57] That would have been kind of cool.

[00:32:58] I think I would have liked that.

[00:32:59] I, yeah, I can see that.

[00:33:01] I love Megan Gallagher in this part.

[00:33:02] The funny thing is, is when they were looking at somebody for this part, they said somebody

[00:33:06] like Megan Gallagher.

[00:33:08] That's not the first time Berman and company have done that either because, you know, when

[00:33:12] they were looking for somebody to play Tom Paris, they said somebody like Robert Duncan

[00:33:15] McNeil.

[00:33:16] It's like dudes right there.

[00:33:19] Absolutely.

[00:33:21] You know, Jim breaks up a great point.

[00:33:22] This is one of my favorite episodes, but as I'm older, I've kind of developed a problem

[00:33:26] with the scene involving Nog and the army nurse.

[00:33:29] You know, Jim, nowadays I do too.

[00:33:32] Not wrong.

[00:33:34] Because it's a little juvenile.

[00:33:35] He's a little minor.

[00:33:37] Especially, well, he's not because he's going to Starfleet Academy.

[00:33:39] Oh, that's true.

[00:33:40] Yeah.

[00:33:40] Yeah.

[00:33:41] But just the, the, the rampant sexual harassment of it all that she doesn't know about.

[00:33:50] You know, she's essentially being conned into giving him Umox without having any context

[00:33:55] what Umox is.

[00:33:57] Um, and while a funny bit at one point in time these days, I find it a little problematic.

[00:34:05] I, I'm not going to lie.

[00:34:06] And do you think that these days that would have gotten even into the episode if it was

[00:34:10] now?

[00:34:11] I don't think it would have.

[00:34:12] I think it might've, but the direction to Aaron might've been to chill out a bit

[00:34:18] or the amount of even, you know, had it as an on camera moment.

[00:34:21] Yeah.

[00:34:21] Um, but, uh, but, but Jim is right.

[00:34:24] Um, he did essentially force himself on her.

[00:34:27] He did.

[00:34:27] Yep.

[00:34:28] Absolutely.

[00:34:29] Because she didn't have the ability to consent.

[00:34:31] Yep.

[00:34:32] And she didn't even know what she was doing.

[00:34:34] Yeah.

[00:34:34] Absolutely.

[00:34:35] She just thought she was massaging his ears.

[00:34:37] Yep.

[00:34:37] So, and honestly, I expect better from a Starfleet cadet or a.

[00:34:41] Deceptive.

[00:34:42] Starfleet.

[00:34:42] Yeah.

[00:34:43] He's deceiving her.

[00:34:43] Yep.

[00:34:44] Absolutely.

[00:34:45] No, I agree.

[00:34:45] The first duty of every Starfleet officer.

[00:34:48] It's to the truth.

[00:34:49] The truth.

[00:34:50] With a personal truth or historical truth.

[00:34:52] The truth is those are some ugly ass ears.

[00:34:56] Yeah, they are.

[00:34:57] Yep.

[00:34:58] Oh, I was talking about yours.

[00:34:59] Not Knox.

[00:35:00] Um, the ones that are covered, you mean?

[00:35:02] Yeah.

[00:35:03] Yeah.

[00:35:04] Okay.

[00:35:04] Well, I've seen them before.

[00:35:04] It's a good thing.

[00:35:05] They're covered.

[00:35:06] Everybody would be losing their, their lunch.

[00:35:09] Um, the one thing I didn't expect when I watched this live the first time was to

[00:35:16] have Odo pop up.

[00:35:17] It's the last thing I expected.

[00:35:19] So, um, I mean, we're both huge dog people.

[00:35:23] Um, I love dogs.

[00:35:24] I used to have a great phobia of German shepherds because I was attacked by one as a kid story

[00:35:29] for another time.

[00:35:30] Um, but you know, when you see the dog, you know, essentially jump up and put a paw on either

[00:35:35] shoulder work, you're wondering what is, what is going to happen here in the scene?

[00:35:40] Are we going to move?

[00:35:40] And then you see it turn into Odo.

[00:35:41] You're like, no way.

[00:35:44] Yeah.

[00:35:45] And I love, I love core.

[00:35:46] Oh, they forgot to take that thing.

[00:35:49] Yeah.

[00:35:50] It's it's love it.

[00:35:51] Yeah.

[00:35:51] Yeah.

[00:35:52] That was a shock and it was great.

[00:35:53] I'll, I will tell you what, if there's any special effect that does not stand up well

[00:35:58] over time, it is that scene where the dog is, is on cork shoulders.

[00:36:04] I mean, looking at it closely, that's some, that's not some great special effect work,

[00:36:08] which is surprising because deep space nine is filled with such great effects, but, uh,

[00:36:13] it, it still works.

[00:36:14] So the scene is fantastic.

[00:36:15] I was fine with it.

[00:36:17] Um, so now we're going to get a little nerdy about, you know, television and production and,

[00:36:22] and, you know, bit rates and stuff like that.

[00:36:25] So even though I own all the deep space nine DVDs, I went out and I downloaded the AI enhanced

[00:36:31] version of deep space nine in 4k.

[00:36:33] So somebody did an AI up res of deep space nine and done it for Voyager two so that you

[00:36:39] get much better definition on those episodes.

[00:36:43] They look incredibly clear to watch them side by side is like night and day watching that

[00:36:49] scene.

[00:36:50] I was not taken aback by that effect at all.

[00:36:53] I thought it was actually pretty good.

[00:36:54] Oh, good.

[00:36:54] That's interesting.

[00:36:55] I just grabbed those.

[00:36:56] Also, I have not watched any of them yet.

[00:36:58] I've only what I did for one episode.

[00:37:01] I forget which one it was is I just, I just threw the starting of the old version and then

[00:37:05] I threw up the starting of the, of the enhanced version just to see how incredibly different

[00:37:09] it is.

[00:37:09] I have not watched any episodes.

[00:37:11] So I will, when we're done recording, I'm probably going to pull up little green men

[00:37:14] and watch that scene just to see if it's, if it stands out as much to me.

[00:37:18] And, and, uh, I'm, I'm very excited about watching these AI enhanced versions.

[00:37:22] When you watch it, you know, the, the scene for me that really sold it was the closeup

[00:37:26] on Quark's face when they're in the, uh, the, the examination room up on the base.

[00:37:31] Um, you can see the finer points of his makeup.

[00:37:34] Yeah.

[00:37:34] You can almost see the seam line around his mouth.

[00:37:37] Not quite.

[00:37:38] Yeah.

[00:37:39] Um, but it is, it is far more clear.

[00:37:42] Um, and for those interested, if you Google, you know, deep space nine, you know, uh, upscaled,

[00:37:47] you'll probably find information about it.

[00:37:50] Um, but it is, it's a really great way to watch this series.

[00:37:54] It's funny that you say that because when I, I, I, I agree with you, the closeup of,

[00:37:58] of, of Armin in this episode is really great.

[00:38:01] And the thing that I focused in when they did the, the closeups is not so much the, the,

[00:38:06] the makeups of those teeth that he wears when he is Quark.

[00:38:11] I don't know how he did it for so long.

[00:38:13] And he even did it when he did his voiceovers for lower decks, he put the teeth in.

[00:38:16] Um, that's some, that's some teeth baby.

[00:38:19] I mean, that's, I don't know.

[00:38:21] Now you know why they need sharpeners.

[00:38:23] Yeah, exactly.

[00:38:24] Yeah.

[00:38:25] He, he does, he does good.

[00:38:26] And, and that's another thing I liked about this episode is you got that up close personal

[00:38:30] with all of them pretty much.

[00:38:32] Um, you, you really got to up close personal, uh, looks at, at all three of the characters

[00:38:37] and, and it's just another standout to the great makeup job that they did because, because

[00:38:40] they do all three of them look fantastic.

[00:38:44] I love the deal that Quark tries to negotiate with the general as if, you know, Quark can,

[00:38:51] you know, take over a planet essentially if he plays his cards, right.

[00:38:54] Yeah.

[00:38:55] You know, and at that point, probably no Federation, you know, no, no Starfleet.

[00:39:00] Everything gets wiped out.

[00:39:02] Star Trek enterprise never happens.

[00:39:03] Everything gets wiped out because Quark wants to be an emperor essentially.

[00:39:07] Um, but the whole negotiation back and forth really shows how good Quark is at dealing with people

[00:39:15] with, you know, on the spot, you know, he can read them.

[00:39:19] Um, he can essentially determine, you know, exactly what his, his leverage is and then

[00:39:26] try to use it to his advantage.

[00:39:28] I think it's the best examination of Quark's ability in doing that throughout the entire

[00:39:33] series.

[00:39:34] And it's interesting that you say that because one of the things that we talked about is

[00:39:37] up with a lot of the episodes of Ferengi on deep face nine, it all revolves around profit

[00:39:43] and this, that, and the other thing.

[00:39:44] Whereas that aspect of this episode, that's all Quark is thinking about, but he does it

[00:39:50] in a way that it works where in other Ferengi episodes, it really doesn't.

[00:39:53] And it is more of a, of a boring aspect of those episodes.

[00:39:57] If I can use that word we're here, it isn't because it's fun because of the whole time

[00:40:01] travel thing and changing history and, and, you know, and killing nurse Garland with his

[00:40:06] finger ray gun and, and, and stuff like that.

[00:40:08] It's just, it's just stuff that just, it just really works for me.

[00:40:11] And I like, I like how they, uh, they brought it across.

[00:40:13] Wait, you can't shoot me through the screen, Bill.

[00:40:18] Oh yeah.

[00:40:19] Sorry.

[00:40:20] That's what happens when you move to North Carolina saying.

[00:40:23] Yeah.

[00:40:24] And we'll talk about this in the outtake, but I've been here, um, six months now.

[00:40:28] Ah, good.

[00:40:30] Well, bye.

[00:40:31] Um, good for me.

[00:40:35] The, I hate you so much.

[00:40:37] I, um, I feel like this episode wraps up kind of quickly.

[00:40:42] Um, I feel like there's a little more that, that could have happened.

[00:40:46] You know, maybe president Truman comes to the base, you know, maybe we get a scene where

[00:40:52] he meets the president.

[00:40:55] Um, you know, but I, I feel like that there's probably something else they could have added,

[00:41:01] you know, like TOS, there was a takeaway in TOS when they went back to Chicago and a piece

[00:41:06] of the action, you know, where McCoy leaves his, his communicator behind.

[00:41:09] Right.

[00:41:10] Right.

[00:41:10] Um, and we know the I oceans are, you know, that they love to mimic things.

[00:41:13] So they, they, they probably will take that and, and, and build on it.

[00:41:18] That they man, I, I would have loved some little bit, you know, like McCoy curing the woman

[00:41:27] in star Trek four.

[00:41:29] Um, you know, I would love something left behind that we take for granted today.

[00:41:35] That is an explanation.

[00:41:36] Does that make sense?

[00:41:37] It does.

[00:41:38] You know, one thing I would have liked to have seen is, is it would have been hard to do

[00:41:43] this, but was there any type of pet or something that they had on the shuttle?

[00:41:50] Because they always talked about there were bodies and Roswell in 1947 that were, you

[00:41:55] know, autopsy.

[00:41:56] Did they, if that, if that had been part of the discussion, like maybe what are the things

[00:42:00] that are running loose around the station all the time?

[00:42:03] Um, that are the voles.

[00:42:05] Yeah.

[00:42:05] If there was a vole or something that got left behind, maybe that could have been what that

[00:42:09] whole aspect of the, the, the, um, the story of Roswell was if they had thrown something

[00:42:16] like that in there.

[00:42:17] Well, I'm going to throw this at you.

[00:42:18] They could have, you know, had a, uh, you know, a real kicker scene toward the end where

[00:42:23] president Truman orders them to create some fake aliens.

[00:42:27] Yeah.

[00:42:27] Uh, you know, so that, because I mean, you know, the, the joke about the weather balloon

[00:42:32] at the end really doesn't land for me because the, the president already knows about the

[00:42:36] Frankie, um, what happened to him?

[00:42:40] How do we explain it away?

[00:42:41] And that's where the sort of the myth of the little green men comes from.

[00:42:44] Right.

[00:42:45] Right.

[00:42:45] Um, they created these, these things, you know, they had somebody in Hollywood create

[00:42:50] them for them and that's how we got little green men.

[00:42:53] So yeah, I thought that would have made sense.

[00:42:55] Um, Jim brings up a really good point here.

[00:42:58] Um, he failed to take into account the paranoia of the time period.

[00:43:01] See, I don't think he did.

[00:43:02] No, I think because with the general, you know, he essentially, you know, says,

[00:43:06] well, if not you, then I'm going to sell him to somebody else.

[00:43:09] Right.

[00:43:10] Yep.

[00:43:10] Which really kind of, I'd much rather deal with you Australians.

[00:43:14] Yeah, exactly.

[00:43:15] I feel like it, it kind of plays into the whole zeitgeist of the period and, and the,

[00:43:19] the paranoia pretty much of all nations.

[00:43:22] Yeah.

[00:43:23] Um, maybe not to the degree that it could have.

[00:43:25] I can certainly take that point, but I mean, if you're playing poker court can already

[00:43:30] see this guy is, is scared.

[00:43:32] Yeah.

[00:43:32] He doesn't need to be able to really read them.

[00:43:34] I mean, cause he can see essentially what's on his face.

[00:43:38] So, um, I love how at the end of the episode that we're just talking about right now, how

[00:43:44] they are, the, the ship is in hangar 18.

[00:43:46] I find it interesting that Odo was able to fix all the damage with that's a story for

[00:43:51] another time.

[00:43:52] Um, I'm going to tie this into the beginning of the episode where when they go through the

[00:43:57] time, when the, when the chemo site detonates and the ship pretty much dissolves, not sure

[00:44:04] what's going on with that, but it kind of dissolves.

[00:44:06] And then it's, it's full and everything's intact and everything.

[00:44:09] And when it's leaving the hangar, it kind of like, like bumps up against the inside.

[00:44:14] So you get all the ripples on the inside of the, of the, of the hangar, which I, it's

[00:44:17] funny.

[00:44:17] And then it redissolves and reintegrates itself back when they get back to the regular timeframe

[00:44:23] back in the future.

[00:44:24] I thought that was kind of funny.

[00:44:25] The shuttle, that shuttle goes through a lot, uh, in a short amount of time.

[00:44:29] Well, actually not a short amount of time.

[00:44:31] It's more like 600 years.

[00:44:32] When you think about it, right?

[00:44:34] Um, 400, 400, 600.

[00:44:37] No math is hard.

[00:44:38] At some point, somebody, I think Quark says 400 years or Ron does.

[00:44:41] Okay.

[00:44:42] Um, that shuttle survives well than any shuttle on Voyager.

[00:44:46] I just want to tell you that right now.

[00:44:48] Yes.

[00:44:48] And it's got the little things in the front.

[00:44:50] It's like the little teeth.

[00:44:50] It's like, it's like a mandible, like the lobster claws.

[00:44:55] Uh, Ryan's right.

[00:44:56] This episode could have been a two parter.

[00:44:58] I totally agree about that.

[00:44:59] It would have been amazing.

[00:45:00] And, um, Odo is multi-talented.

[00:45:03] Yes, he really is.

[00:45:04] Maybe, um.

[00:45:06] Ask Kira.

[00:45:06] Maybe Chief O'Brien could have put him to work.

[00:45:08] So what did you say?

[00:45:11] Just ask Kira.

[00:45:13] You're an idiot.

[00:45:15] Oh, sorry.

[00:45:15] That's in season six.

[00:45:16] I'm sorry.

[00:45:17] I don't know where my mind's at.

[00:45:18] You're, oh, gosh.

[00:45:21] People like you, how have we evolved into the period of Star Trek?

[00:45:25] I don't understand.

[00:45:26] I, uh, speaking of Odo though, I do love how when he shows up as the, he's the dog and then he morphs into Odo, the guy's like, who's that?

[00:45:34] It's the reaction of this guy standing behind him beating the crap out of everybody.

[00:45:38] Oh, he's with us.

[00:45:40] He's our dog.

[00:45:42] Yeah.

[00:45:44] Hashtag Odo the dog.

[00:45:45] Odo the dog.

[00:45:46] And then I want to name a dog Odo.

[00:45:47] So, yeah, that would be awesome.

[00:45:51] But see, I'm not, I, I've always had girl dogs, so I wouldn't name a girl dog Odo.

[00:45:55] So.

[00:45:55] Well, but I mean, shapeshifter.

[00:45:58] Well, yeah.

[00:45:59] True.

[00:45:59] Doesn't matter.

[00:46:00] If we got a, if we got a girl dog and I was going to name him after one of the changelings, I'd have to call it female changeling.

[00:46:09] Because that's the only name we ever had for a female changeling in the entire series, which I still don't understand to this day.

[00:46:18] None of the changelings have names.

[00:46:21] The Bajorans gave Odo his name.

[00:46:24] Unknown sample.

[00:46:25] Correct.

[00:46:26] Odo Vittal.

[00:46:28] Yeah.

[00:46:29] Thank you.

[00:46:30] Thank you.

[00:46:32] Tangent.

[00:46:33] None of the changelings have names because they're the great link.

[00:46:36] I know.

[00:46:37] And can another tangent, because we're going off on tangents.

[00:46:40] Oh yeah, let's do it.

[00:46:41] All during the first run of Deep Space Nine, watching it, I thought it was called, I thought they called it the Great Lake.

[00:46:51] Because it was liquid.

[00:46:54] I'm, I'm not even joking.

[00:46:55] I thought at first it was the Great Lake and not until later on in the series that I understand that it was the link.

[00:47:02] Was it Superior or Huron?

[00:47:07] I saying, I, I'm, I'm being honest.

[00:47:11] If this is, thank you, Ryan.

[00:47:13] I wish I could laugh about this.

[00:47:16] That's what I thought it was, but you know me, I throw lyrics into songs that are wrong all the time.

[00:47:20] And so, you know, I'm not surprised.

[00:47:24] Have you been tested for dementia?

[00:47:27] I just want to know this.

[00:47:29] Hey, at least I, at least I know my mistake and admitted it.

[00:47:32] It was wrong.

[00:47:33] It's the great link.

[00:47:34] Yeah.

[00:47:34] But back then.

[00:47:36] Great sausage link.

[00:47:37] Can you imagine?

[00:47:38] Great.

[00:47:40] Can you imagine back in the day if we had talked about this?

[00:47:42] Because this was like, right.

[00:47:44] You know, less than a year before we met.

[00:47:46] Yeah.

[00:47:46] We talked about the great lake.

[00:47:48] I would have been like, what are you talking?

[00:47:50] How are you talking about?

[00:47:51] The great lake.

[00:47:53] You know where the changelings are?

[00:47:54] No, no, no.

[00:47:55] Dummy.

[00:47:56] What?

[00:47:56] It's the great link.

[00:48:01] Oh, the great link.

[00:48:03] But it's water.

[00:48:05] So I thought it was a lake.

[00:48:06] I didn't say a bunch of chains laying around.

[00:48:08] It's, it's shapeshifter goo.

[00:48:10] Liquid.

[00:48:11] Liquid form.

[00:48:13] Anyway.

[00:48:14] Form of a lake of changelings.

[00:48:18] Shape of an ice line.

[00:48:20] Lake Changeling.

[00:48:21] What a great lake name.

[00:48:23] Anyway.

[00:48:24] That's what we're going to call it from now on.

[00:48:25] It's no longer the great link.

[00:48:27] It's Lake Changeling.

[00:48:28] Lake Changeling.

[00:48:29] I like it.

[00:48:30] All right.

[00:48:31] That was sorry.

[00:48:31] That tangent went way out, way out, way out.

[00:48:34] I'd like to think that this is why people listen to Trek geeks.

[00:48:37] Yes.

[00:48:37] No, it's not.

[00:48:38] It is no NPR.

[00:48:39] That's for sure.

[00:48:41] Yeah.

[00:48:41] Yeah.

[00:48:42] Yeah.

[00:48:42] You're not going to get this kind of discussion on Trek NPR.

[00:48:45] Um, and I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

[00:48:49] Dan, welcome to Trek NPR.

[00:48:52] No, I'm kidding.

[00:48:52] I'm kidding.

[00:48:53] Um, the last few minutes where they kind of escape, um, are a little, little too convenient.

[00:49:01] Mm-hmm.

[00:49:03] Ryan, if you think you're less smart, imagine how, how unsmart Dan is.

[00:49:08] And just, uh, they're on a military installation.

[00:49:14] Mm-hmm.

[00:49:15] Um, yes, they knocked out their guards, but I have a hard time believing that there were

[00:49:19] only a couple of guys keeping a watch on them, you know, like on the enterprise, whenever

[00:49:22] somebody was in the brig, um, when there are aliens.

[00:49:27] Hold on.

[00:49:28] Yes.

[00:49:30] Aliens.

[00:49:30] Uh, from space in an exam room, I'm thinking there'd be a whole lot more people.

[00:49:39] I would think you would think, but you know, there could there, you may be there conceded

[00:49:44] egotistical jerks.

[00:49:46] They can take anything.

[00:49:47] They're small.

[00:49:47] Did these three small Martians with big ears?

[00:49:52] We can take them.

[00:49:53] I got nothing.

[00:49:54] I really don't.

[00:49:55] I really have nothing.

[00:49:56] But you know what?

[00:49:57] I find even more convenient than that.

[00:50:00] Your face?

[00:50:01] My face.

[00:50:02] And the fact that the only way that they can figure that they can get home is if they

[00:50:07] fly into an atomic blast and there just happens to be one going off in seven minutes, guys.

[00:50:13] You might not want to get in your shuttle and head right out.

[00:50:16] Yeah.

[00:50:16] There is a little bit of, um, yeah, of, uh, of quick resolution that we normally, you

[00:50:23] know, blame Voyager for, but that absolutely happens here.

[00:50:26] Um, see now what I want to do is I want to look through the historical records for real

[00:50:30] of when the whole Roswell thing took place and the farmer found the spaceship.

[00:50:35] And was there an atomic blast a couple of days later or was that all just for the

[00:50:39] show?

[00:50:40] Cause then it'll just ruin the whole thing.

[00:50:42] Will it?

[00:50:43] No.

[00:50:45] Not at all.

[00:50:45] Will it?

[00:50:46] No, it won't.

[00:50:48] You're, you're so dumb.

[00:50:50] Um, I said out loud.

[00:50:53] Um, but of course, you know, they make it back.

[00:50:56] They're in orbit of earth.

[00:50:58] You know, um, they get hailed by earth space command or whatever the heck it's called.

[00:51:03] Um, I said, do you need help?

[00:51:05] Really?

[00:51:06] Yes.

[00:51:06] We need help.

[00:51:07] Um, you didn't need help to fly into an atomic blast with chemo site.

[00:51:13] That's right.

[00:51:14] Um, but I would have liked some sort of, you know, uh, you know, different outcome.

[00:51:23] You know how it would have been a great ending.

[00:51:25] So they're looking for help, but then maybe just before it fades out to black, it's two

[00:51:31] hours later and they are, they have beamed down and they are standing in Roswell looking

[00:51:38] around.

[00:51:39] Um, that would have been really awesome.

[00:51:41] Um, Jim brings up a great point.

[00:51:43] I want to know what would have happened to the professor and the nurse for helping them

[00:51:46] to escape.

[00:51:46] Absolutely.

[00:51:47] Yeah, absolutely.

[00:51:48] Yep.

[00:51:49] But you know, would there have been a technicality here because there's no aliens?

[00:51:53] Um, how could they prove that they did anything wrong if the government's not going to admit

[00:51:57] to them?

[00:51:58] Yep.

[00:51:58] I feel like there's been like an episode of other shows like that.

[00:52:02] Um, probably even Star Trek and my old brain is just, uh, failing me at this point.

[00:52:07] Well, um, good point.

[00:52:09] Yeah.

[00:52:09] The kicker scene when they get back to deep space nine, I think is cute.

[00:52:13] Um, of course, Odo's going to throw Quark in jail.

[00:52:17] Yes.

[00:52:17] I love that.

[00:52:18] I'm a magistrate.

[00:52:20] I love how Rom, you know, says, I'm going to call cousin Gala and get a lawyer and just

[00:52:25] the look on Rom's face as we get to the end of the episode, like I'm going to be king

[00:52:32] of the bar.

[00:52:33] It's all mine.

[00:52:35] You know, it's just, it is such a great look for Max, um, that it just really, it really

[00:52:42] makes me happy at the end of the episode.

[00:52:43] I'm going to go one further on you on that.

[00:52:45] This episode, you said that they kind of very quickly made him the smart guy.

[00:52:50] Yeah.

[00:52:51] Now he knows that people know, and he's in his head thinking about the things that he's

[00:52:55] going to be able to do now that everybody knows that he's the smart guy.

[00:52:58] Like, oh, I don't know.

[00:52:59] Become the grand Nagus.

[00:53:02] I don't think he thinks that far ahead.

[00:53:04] Come on.

[00:53:05] I mean, you have to be, give me one.

[00:53:07] You have to be a whole lot of steps ahead in order to think that, and that's still three

[00:53:11] and a half years down the road.

[00:53:12] Yeah.

[00:53:13] Yeah.

[00:53:13] Yeah.

[00:53:15] Okay.

[00:53:15] What is she saying now?

[00:53:16] Okay.

[00:53:17] Well, let me see.

[00:53:18] Haley says, Borg collective sounds more understandable than the great link.

[00:53:21] I get it.

[00:53:22] They're all linked, but they're more than linked.

[00:53:24] It's a meld.

[00:53:24] Wait, no, that's a Vulcan thing or emerging or an incorporation.

[00:53:28] I like incorporation.

[00:53:30] That's very Ferengi for this episode.

[00:53:32] The great incorporation.

[00:53:34] Uh, very conglomerated.

[00:53:37] Ooh, conglomerated.

[00:53:38] I like that too.

[00:53:39] Or a blending or a fusion.

[00:53:41] I was just going to say, or a blending or a fusion.

[00:53:44] And she took the word out about it.

[00:53:45] You were not going to stay in that.

[00:53:48] Wow.

[00:53:49] And yes, Jim, that was a great comedy scene.

[00:53:51] It does stand the test of time.

[00:53:53] Yeah.

[00:53:54] Um, like 98% of the episode with the exception of that one scene with the nurse.

[00:53:58] I think that this whole episode really, Dan, um, is kind of timeless.

[00:54:03] Um, at least, at least it is for me.

[00:54:06] It is, it is a, it is.

[00:54:08] And the reason that it is, is because it is fun.

[00:54:12] It's a fun episode.

[00:54:14] We all know what's going to be happening.

[00:54:17] Come, come the next season or at the end of this season with what's coming down the road with, with what's going on deep space nine.

[00:54:23] This episode has great writing, great humor, great science fiction, great acting.

[00:54:31] Everything on this episode really, really works.

[00:54:34] And we talked about it already at the top.

[00:54:37] This is the Ferengi episode of, of all of Star Trek.

[00:54:41] I think in terms of, of what we get to see.

[00:54:44] The other thing that I love about this is you get to see Quark for how protective he really is of his family.

[00:54:54] Um, even though he does it in his own way, which can just be seen like ridiculous.

[00:54:59] This is where you really see it.

[00:55:01] And I think that that's a credit to the character.

[00:55:04] Can, can you imagine if they had done this as two episodes, the way they could have expanded out the story?

[00:55:13] Yeah.

[00:55:13] Maybe they get loose.

[00:55:14] Maybe it causes a war of the world's kind of panic.

[00:55:17] I think that would have been fantastic.

[00:55:19] Show up at the white house.

[00:55:21] Oh my gosh.

[00:55:23] Who knows?

[00:55:24] I mean, yeah, it could have been really something.

[00:55:25] Yeah, absolutely.

[00:55:27] I, um, get some Orson.

[00:55:28] Well voiceover.

[00:55:31] You know, the one thing I wish that had made it into this episode and this is some people are going to shake their head and go, no, the Ferengi energy whips.

[00:55:42] Oh, absolutely.

[00:55:43] That would have been great.

[00:55:44] I wish those had been in this episode.

[00:55:46] Like there'd been one on board the shuttle and they found it and somebody accidentally fries one of the other dudes with the Ferengi energy whip.

[00:55:54] Yeah.

[00:55:55] Yeah.

[00:55:56] Yeah.

[00:55:56] And like, and quarks like, yeah, that's, you shouldn't use that.

[00:55:59] Yeah.

[00:56:00] That I think that's a great, that would have been a great thing.

[00:56:02] We didn't see enough of the Ferengi energy whips.

[00:56:04] I don't think.

[00:56:06] Yep.

[00:56:07] Yeah.

[00:56:08] Ryan says that would have been cool.

[00:56:09] Thank you.

[00:56:10] Yeah.

[00:56:11] That's why I'm the brains and the beauty of this outfit.

[00:56:14] Like changeling.

[00:56:15] At least it's a fun way to make the area 51 Roswell stuff real, but it incorporates something we all know to Star Trek.

[00:56:21] Exactly.

[00:56:21] Yeah.

[00:56:22] I mean, you know, this is, it's the beauty of this episode.

[00:56:26] I think that's why I love it so much.

[00:56:27] Yeah.

[00:56:29] Jim.

[00:56:30] Great point by Jim.

[00:56:31] If it were a two parter, we could see the temporal investigators come to deep space nine and grow Quark and Rom.

[00:56:35] Absolutely.

[00:56:38] I would have liked it if the temporal investigators had been a recurring theme on deep space nine.

[00:56:42] Every time they show up, it's like, oh man, here we go.

[00:56:46] They made a couple of books with them, but not nearly as great as the, as when they showed up for trials and tribulations.

[00:56:53] But yeah, that would have been great to see them come several times.

[00:56:55] Would have been good.

[00:56:56] Do you remember their names?

[00:56:57] I know that they were, I can't think of them.

[00:56:59] Luxley and I forget the other one, but it was basically a rewording of the X-Files characters.

[00:57:06] Dolmer and Luxley.

[00:57:07] Dolmer and Luxley.

[00:57:08] Dolmer.

[00:57:08] Yeah.

[00:57:09] See, and, and people are probably going to scream in a second.

[00:57:11] I have never watched the X-Files.

[00:57:14] So that's why I didn't, couldn't remember the name.

[00:57:16] I'm going to remove you from this stream.

[00:57:18] I really am.

[00:57:19] I was too busy watching Star Trek.

[00:57:21] Sorry.

[00:57:23] Snow.

[00:57:23] Wow.

[00:57:24] He really did.

[00:57:25] He really did.

[00:57:30] Final thoughts on, uh, on little green, little green men.

[00:57:36] It's.

[00:57:38] I'll have to look back if I had it listed in my top 10 of deep space nine, because it is,

[00:57:42] it is just fantastic.

[00:57:44] It's great.

[00:57:45] Star Trek.

[00:57:46] It's great science fiction.

[00:57:47] It's great storytelling.

[00:57:48] Um, and it's one that you can watch and it's one of those ones that just don't ever

[00:57:53] get, you don't get bored of it.

[00:57:55] It's, it's always good to watch.

[00:57:58] And I've seen it.

[00:57:59] I don't know how many times you still pick out things every time you watch that you

[00:58:03] didn't see last time.

[00:58:03] And I think that's what, that's what good television does.

[00:58:07] It is spoken by Dan Davidson.

[00:58:10] Um, television auteur.

[00:58:14] Um, I, I think that, I think this episode is, is probably among the best of the season,

[00:58:20] if not the series.

[00:58:21] I think it does a really great job of giving Quark kind of the lead action in an episode.

[00:58:29] Yeah.

[00:58:29] You know, Quark is, he's the one series regular that's in this episode for most of it.

[00:58:35] Uh, and I think he does a really great job leading it.

[00:58:38] Armin, you know, I'm sure he didn't get too many of these episodes and his opportunity

[00:58:42] to, to really carry this with his other castmates from DS nine is, is just, it's like a clinic.

[00:58:49] It's on display.

[00:58:50] He does a fantastic job.

[00:58:51] Yeah, he really does.

[00:58:53] Um, and, uh, it's, it's too bad that we really didn't get a chance to talk to him about this

[00:58:59] episode in long Island last year.

[00:59:02] That would have been really something to do.

[00:59:03] We'll have to talk about that.

[00:59:04] Maybe we'll have him on a future episode of this here show and talk to him about it specifically

[00:59:08] because it's a great one.

[00:59:09] Well, don't forget, you know, we do have Thursday night geeks coming up Thursday, January 30th.

[00:59:18] Uh, almost two weeks after Trek talks, um, which of course is coming up, but, uh, maybe we'll

[00:59:23] have Armin for one of those episodes.

[00:59:25] Um, of course, you know, Dan, we're premiering Thursday night geeks to celebrate our 10th

[00:59:31] anniversary, uh, doing Trek geeks.

[00:59:34] I didn't know what to say.

[00:59:35] My mind is, my mind is blown.

[00:59:38] Um, almost like it was filled with chemosite and flying through a nuclear explosion.

[00:59:44] So maybe the explosion will take you 10 years into the past and we can do it all over again.

[00:59:50] Oh gosh.

[00:59:52] You're welcome.

[00:59:53] Welcome.

[00:59:54] You're welcome.

[00:59:55] Didn't I heard you to like cats for a theater skip it of season four?

[00:59:59] I think, I think she did.

[01:00:01] Um, I think she was the host for, for that one.

[01:00:05] All right.

[01:00:05] She absolutely was.

[01:00:05] Yes.

[01:00:06] Mr.

[01:00:06] You did.

[01:00:07] Um, yeah.

[01:00:10] So 10 years of Trek geek stand and we're celebrating with Thursday, the premiere of

[01:00:15] Thursday night geeks.

[01:00:16] I mean, it doesn't get any better.

[01:00:17] Kind of the next phase of Trek geeks, which I think is exciting.

[01:00:20] It's amazing that, uh, it is evolved or devolved depending on how you're going to

[01:00:25] want to look at it, uh, to, to, to what we're going to be doing.

[01:00:28] I think it's going to be a lot of fun.

[01:00:29] I mean, we have so much fun with this.

[01:00:30] It just makes sense to, to do it in a grander scheme.

[01:00:34] Um, and I'm really looking forward to it.

[01:00:36] I think it's going to be a good time and, and, uh, set your alarm clocks, make sure your kids

[01:00:41] get a daytime nap so that they can join us live when we are, when we're doing that on, uh,

[01:00:45] on January 30th.

[01:00:47] Well, you know, two 20, two 21, whatever it takes.

[01:00:52] Okay.

[01:00:52] Sounds good to me.

[01:00:53] You know, Dan.

[01:00:55] Now the other thing we love, of course, for people listening to the audio version of this,

[01:00:59] the band five year mission, um, we love all their songs, every single last one of them.

[01:01:05] Yeah.

[01:01:05] You know, in the audio only version, I track geeks, you hear it as the intro theme.

[01:01:09] You heard as the bumper music, you hear it as the end theme.

[01:01:11] And it's just perfect because it's great music about star Trek for star Trek fans.

[01:01:18] So don't waste any time.

[01:01:19] Get over to five year mission.net, get all of those CDs in your cart and then check out

[01:01:25] and get them at your house and listen to them.

[01:01:28] See, I did a little pantomime there.

[01:01:30] Listen to them and become a huge fan of five year mission as we are ourselves.

[01:01:35] Five year mission.net, get those CDs in your ear holes.

[01:01:40] And you know what?

[01:01:41] It's great to use that physical media.

[01:01:42] Your CD player will no longer just be like a coffee cup holder.

[01:01:45] You can actually put the CD in the machine, press the play, then go back, watch little green

[01:01:51] men, the AI version where the ship is actually Fark's treasure and never has any problem.

[01:01:58] Does the warp drive thing?

[01:01:59] No chemicide explosion.

[01:02:01] Everything works great.

[01:02:01] And it's the best episode ever, ever.

[01:02:06] Fark's treasure.

[01:02:08] Fark's treasure.

[01:02:09] That was it.

[01:02:09] I put it in there quickly.

[01:02:11] Just really quick.

[01:02:12] I almost didn't hear it because it sounded like Quark's treasure to me.

[01:02:16] But it wasn't.

[01:02:18] Fark's treasure.

[01:02:19] Right there.

[01:02:20] Fark's treasure.

[01:02:21] I didn't even write that one ahead of time.

[01:02:23] I just did it just now.

[01:02:25] It's obvious you didn't write it ahead of time.

[01:02:27] Because I literally said, oh shit, I forgot to do a Farkism.

[01:02:30] So.

[01:02:30] It's obvious you didn't write it ahead of time because it sucked.

[01:02:35] But Bill, in all honesty, to you, don't they all?

[01:02:41] Well, that's not untrue.

[01:02:43] Dan, of course.

[01:02:45] We want people to remember that like our Patreons watching tonight, they too can follow and

[01:02:50] support us on Patreon where they can attend incredible live stream recordings like this

[01:02:58] one.

[01:03:00] You get what you pay for, don't you folks?

[01:03:02] Wow.

[01:03:04] No, I'm just kidding.

[01:03:05] I'm just kidding.

[01:03:06] I got to say, we truly appreciate it.

[01:03:08] We love our Patreonicals so much.

[01:03:10] We are absolutely humbled by your support.

[01:03:12] I want to thank each and every one of you.

[01:03:54] Connie Hutchins.

[01:03:56] The gracious and wonderful Connie Hutchins.

[01:03:58] It's Connie O'Day, let's go.

[01:04:00] It's Connie Hutchins.

[01:04:01] Get going in there.

[01:04:02] Oh my goodness.

[01:04:03] And of course we want to thank our Trek Geeks producers.

[01:04:05] They are Mike Bovia, Steve Bovia, Jeff Caliendo, Kyle Castillo, Peter Craig, Andy

[01:04:27] Terry Shaw, Jim Stoffel, Chris Trabuzio, Christina Werther, and the lovely and talented Jess Vashon.

[01:04:34] Dan, for now and all time, the senior producer of Trek Geeks is the one and only college man,

[01:04:41] Jude Tattman.

[01:04:43] I'm going to let everybody in on a little secret.

[01:04:45] I don't know if we talked about it last time, but I'm going to say right now.

[01:04:48] Yes.

[01:04:49] He's the only senior producer of this show ever.

[01:04:52] And you're all going to hear him next time.

[01:04:54] You're all going to hear him next time.

[01:04:55] There's going to be more about that next, uh, as we get to the end of the episode, but

[01:04:58] you will hear Jude very recently.

[01:05:00] You too, though, can become a producer of Trek Geeks.

[01:05:02] It's just so easy to do.

[01:05:03] Even Bill could figure it out if he wasn't one of the, um, creators of this here podcast.

[01:05:08] Head on over to patreon.com slash Trek Geeks for all the details.

[01:05:12] Dan, next time.

[01:05:13] What the hell are we doing?

[01:05:15] Oh yeah.

[01:05:16] We're going to circle back to what we were originally going to do this week.

[01:05:19] Um, because we're planning some, some special conversations as part of this episode.

[01:05:24] Yeah, absolutely.

[01:05:25] Uh, um, scheduling has been a little bit of an issue.

[01:05:27] And of course we wanted to do the Halloween episode, but fear not next time we're going

[01:05:31] to have a couple of amazing guests to discuss what we feel is a very important topic.

[01:05:36] As we've said for a long time here on Trek Geeks, the past several years have been touted

[01:05:40] as the best time to be a Trek fan with all the new shows.

[01:05:43] But with that being said, are the new shows really continuing Gene's vision?

[01:05:47] Are you're all wondering if Trek is past a spy?

[01:05:50] Are we getting too old for the new Trek?

[01:05:52] Um, or is the new Trek causing you to revert back to watching legacy?

[01:05:55] They're all valid questions.

[01:05:57] And so we're going to discuss that.

[01:05:59] And we're going to ask some great guests, including, as I just mentioned a moment ago,

[01:06:03] the senior producer of Trek Geeks.

[01:06:05] That's right.

[01:06:05] The one and only Jude Tattman will be joining us so we can get his opinion on it.

[01:06:09] It's all happening next time on Trek Geeks.

[01:06:12] You know, the, uh, the flagship of that, that thing we do.

[01:06:15] That thing we do.

[01:06:16] And of course, you know, we want people to know we are fans of all Star Trek.

[01:06:20] Absolutely.

[01:06:20] You know, we're not saying we hate the new Star Trek or not saying that it's not Star

[01:06:24] Trek, but as people who've been fans now for almost half a century, you know, is it causing

[01:06:30] a change in our mentality and how we look at Star Trek?

[01:06:34] So, um, we're actually also going to talk to some sociologists about that very thing.

[01:06:39] Absolutely.

[01:06:40] Um, I totally agree.

[01:06:43] Uh, Jim McMahon says never all ages can and should watch Trek.

[01:06:46] Absolutely.

[01:06:47] So, uh, Dan, of course, for more great Star Trek discussion, we want everyone to check

[01:06:50] out the other member podcasts.

[01:06:52] Um, of course, I mean, we got big sci-fi, we got sci-fi systems.

[01:06:56] We got, uh, with the first link, we got, I don't know, we got so many.

[01:06:59] I keep forgetting all of them.

[01:07:01] Rewind.

[01:07:01] Rewind.

[01:07:47] Coconut.

[01:07:48] That's it?

[01:07:49] That's it.

[01:07:50] You traveled all the way back to 1947 and all you got is coconut?

[01:07:54] Going back in time.

[01:07:55] Going old school.

[01:07:56] OG.

[01:07:58] Coconut.

[01:08:00] No.

[01:08:01] See?

[01:08:02] You need to raise your egg game.

[01:08:04] You're not a bum anymore.

[01:08:06] It's coconut day.

[01:09:15] It's amazing how that timing works out every time.

[01:09:18] I don't know how we do it.

[01:09:19] It's great.

[01:09:19] It's amazing.

[01:09:20] Bing bong, buddy.

[01:09:21] Bing bong.

[01:09:22] Oh my gosh.

[01:09:23] It's so weird doing it at the end.

[01:09:25] It is.

[01:09:26] It's kind of nice though.

[01:09:27] It simplifies my edit a little bit.

[01:09:29] That's true.

[01:09:30] That's true.

[01:09:30] Of the audio.

[01:09:31] Yeah.

[01:09:31] So yeah, I've been in North Carolina six months.

[01:09:34] Can you believe this?

[01:09:35] Congratulations, man.

[01:09:36] That's pretty awesome.

[01:09:37] It's a celebration every day in New Hampshire, but that's a story for another time.

[01:09:42] You could be a little nicer.

[01:09:44] It's a sad day in New Hampshire every time.

[01:09:50] You know, not once have we thought about looking back either.

[01:09:52] No, I'm not looking back.

[01:09:55] Shut up.

[01:09:57] You just did, jerk.

[01:09:58] I did.

[01:09:58] So I wanted to show you this and this is truly amazing.

[01:10:02] With the, with the announcement of the new job and everything, I, my workstation for work was over here, which you can't see.

[01:10:09] But, but.

[01:10:10] That's really great video.

[01:10:12] Thanks, Dan.

[01:10:12] Yeah.

[01:10:13] But I, I cleared it out so that I could put other stuff to, you know, while I was looking for job.

[01:10:17] And one of the things I was doing to help me deal with everything is, is build some of the blue bricks, deep space nine stuff.

[01:10:24] And I'm working on the runabout right now.

[01:10:26] Cause we were talking about the giant shuttle or the giant runabout, the tiny shuttle.

[01:10:30] Dude.

[01:10:30] When I say that the runabout is gigantic, I'm not even kidding.

[01:10:34] Look at the size of this thing.

[01:10:36] And this is only part of it.

[01:10:38] The front of it isn't even attached to this yet.

[01:10:40] And look at the, look at how big this thing is.

[01:10:42] Oh my gosh.

[01:10:43] It's huge.

[01:10:44] Even the detail inside is pretty amazing.

[01:10:46] This is the cockpit, which I haven't attached yet.

[01:10:48] I mean, the thing that when it's put together, it's like gigantic.

[01:10:52] Yeah.

[01:10:52] And the detail is really incredible.

[01:10:53] They even have a dude.

[01:10:54] They even have, I can't even show it to you.

[01:10:56] I don't think I can make it here, but they got a bathroom in it.

[01:10:59] There's a bathroom in the runabout and there's a little toilet in there too.

[01:11:02] I'm not going to make a little Star Trek toilet.

[01:11:04] I made a little Star Trek toilet.

[01:11:05] Yeah.

[01:11:06] Does it have an L cars console?

[01:11:07] It does not have the, Oh, that would have been great, but it's got bunks and it's got a replicator and a coffee table with coffee on it.

[01:11:16] In my head cannon, the toilet,

[01:11:18] on board any starship or shuttlecraft or runabout has a little L cars panel with the bidet settings.

[01:11:26] That's I don't, I don't, I can't say that that's bad.

[01:11:29] Why am I an effing jerk?

[01:11:30] What did I do now?

[01:11:31] And Ryan is right.

[01:11:32] It is called a head just like it is on the bridge of the next generation.

[01:11:35] There's a door labeled head.

[01:11:37] Yep.

[01:11:37] Yep.

[01:11:38] And it's not what you thought it was.

[01:11:40] Right.

[01:11:41] Right.

[01:11:41] The ticker tape providing you the latest, greatest news and accurate.

[01:11:44] Right.

[01:11:45] This is not fake news.

[01:11:46] Dude.

[01:11:47] This is legit.

[01:11:48] Okay.

[01:11:49] All right.

[01:11:49] Why?

[01:11:49] Because you're in North Carolina and I'm happy about it.

[01:11:53] No, just because you're a jerk.

[01:11:56] It's good to laugh again.

[01:11:58] You know, it really is.

[01:12:00] Cause it's been, you know, I, I had this conversation with, with other people.

[01:12:05] Um, our good friend, Chris Mumfrey, we, we do Vegas with every year, you know, our brother

[01:12:10] in, in all things and in track and he's kind of the third track geek when we're at STLV

[01:12:14] every year.

[01:12:15] Yep.

[01:12:16] Um, the, you could see the stress and the despair on your face and in your eyes.

[01:12:24] And when you told me you got that job.

[01:12:28] Yeah.

[01:12:29] I could see that you were the Dan that I knew the Dan with joy, the Dan with, you know,

[01:12:34] hope.

[01:12:35] Yeah.

[01:12:35] Um, the Dan of the previous three months was not there.

[01:12:38] Yep.

[01:12:38] Um, it was obvious that the sparkle was in your eye again, and it was not there for the

[01:12:43] three months previous, quite frankly.

[01:12:44] No, I appreciate it.

[01:12:45] We actually, that was fun.

[01:12:47] Um, we, we, you and I, every once in a while, we have a video chat with, with our friend,

[01:12:52] Jude Tappman over in, in, in England, and he's off to college and we were going to have

[01:12:56] a chat with him that week.

[01:12:59] And I, I had gotten the offer letter and I'm like, I'm not going to tell Bill yet.

[01:13:02] I want to see his reaction.

[01:13:05] I'm going to wait.

[01:13:05] So I plan to tell you both at the same time.

[01:13:09] And your face, when I told you that I had signed the offer letter and had gotten the job was

[01:13:15] priceless.

[01:13:16] I wish I had recorded that video because it was, it was awesome.

[01:13:21] And, uh, I was very happy to be able to tell you that.

[01:13:24] But, but you'd already told Jude's mom.

[01:13:26] You, I did because there were, we, she had texted me about what was going on with Jude at the

[01:13:32] time.

[01:13:33] And I wanted to relieve some of her stress by letting her know some good news.

[01:13:39] So I said, okay, well don't tell anybody, but I'm going to let the guys know tonight.

[01:13:44] I just signed a, I just signed an offer letter.

[01:13:46] So that's why she knew first.

[01:13:47] Yeah.

[01:13:48] And, and, and Jim and Ross, I think, I'm sorry, Brad and Ross, I think, uh, sum it up greatly.

[01:13:53] We're, I think we're all glad that weight is lifted for you.

[01:13:55] And it really is good to hear the joy in your voice again.

[01:13:59] Yeah.

[01:14:00] Uh, it's, it's good to have it.

[01:14:01] I got to say.

[01:14:02] And Jim McMahon says creation released the info for STLV 2025 today, baby.

[01:14:06] Ah, very nice.

[01:14:08] Um, as I take a look at the official Trek geeks countdown calendar, we are 287 days away.

[01:14:14] Yeah.

[01:14:15] Now I will say, and then I'm going to, I'm going to drop this on you right here live.

[01:14:18] You don't even know this is coming.

[01:14:20] I'm going to say it.

[01:14:21] There is a chance based on my new work that I may not come out till Thursday of this year's

[01:14:27] convention, but we will deal with that as it gets closer, if it's something I have to

[01:14:32] do or not.

[01:14:32] But so let me just, you know what?

[01:14:35] You shouldn't be upset about it all.

[01:14:36] It just means two more days that you don't have to deal with me.

[01:14:39] So are you kidding me?

[01:14:40] I might actually get to stay at a hotel.

[01:14:41] I want to stay at.

[01:14:43] Yeah.

[01:14:44] There you go.

[01:14:45] Make your own goddamn reservation.

[01:14:47] Um, okay.

[01:14:50] Every year now, I want to stay because it's close to where all the action is and I want

[01:14:54] to cosplay.

[01:14:56] Oh, I got a cosplay coming this year too.

[01:14:59] Do you?

[01:15:00] Oh yeah.

[01:15:01] What are you planning?

[01:15:01] I'm not saying.

[01:15:03] All right.

[01:15:04] Yeah.

[01:15:04] So what are you back from your trip to Florida?

[01:15:08] Um, it's just, it's, it's kind of a short trip.

[01:15:10] We're leaving Thursday and I'll be back Tuesday night.

[01:15:13] What are, we're not going to talk politics cause we don't do that on Trek Geeks, but yeah.

[01:15:17] What are you doing election night?

[01:15:20] Uh, probably drinking.

[01:15:23] I will be on it right now.

[01:15:27] I'm, we're going to fire up a channel on the Patreon discord.

[01:15:32] Okay.

[01:15:33] And I'm going to watch election returns.

[01:15:35] Okay.

[01:15:37] All right.

[01:15:38] I don't know if I'll be on it or not, depending on what's going on, if we're downstairs or

[01:15:43] whatever, but I will do my best to, but I'm going to be so, I'm going to be as stressed

[01:15:48] out that night as I was the last three months.

[01:15:52] You know, even if you, you'll pop, you can pop in for a little bit.

[01:15:56] Screw you.

[01:15:56] I can.

[01:15:56] Yes, I definitely will.

[01:15:57] Poles close in the East at seven.

[01:15:59] And then every hour after that.

[01:16:00] I popped in, uh, at a, uh, an episode watch when I was in Disney one year, a couple of years

[01:16:06] ago.

[01:16:06] So yeah.

[01:16:07] During a hurricane, I think.

[01:16:08] Um, I don't remember when it was, but I remember.

[01:16:10] I don't remember when it was, uh, yeah, we're very excited.

[01:16:13] We're staying at, um, we're staying at the cabins at, uh, wilderness logic.

[01:16:18] Oh, you mentioned that.

[01:16:18] That's right.

[01:16:19] We've done once before and they are just absolutely spectacular.

[01:16:22] Um, it's a gorgeous log cabin.

[01:16:24] It's, it's, uh, very open on the inside.

[01:16:27] It's got a hot tub inside and a screened in porch and it's right on the, on the lake.

[01:16:33] Um, we're very happy.

[01:16:35] We're very excited about, uh, staying there again.

[01:16:37] So, so today I'm here at the house.

[01:16:39] It's, it's a normal work day.

[01:16:41] Both Kelly and I are logged in, you know, to our various employers doing work, taking a

[01:16:46] short break.

[01:16:47] You know, I went into the other bedroom.

[01:16:49] I came out and Isabella, our dog is standing by the sliding glass door and she's looking

[01:16:55] like she needs to go out.

[01:16:58] So I look at her and say, do you need to go outside?

[01:17:00] And she makes a look at the door and a look at me and her tail starts wagging more excitedly

[01:17:05] than, than normal.

[01:17:07] I'm like, all right, let's go out.

[01:17:08] So I put on my shoes, we take her out.

[01:17:10] He takes two steps off the concrete patio, whops onto the grass and immediately just starts

[01:17:16] lying there.

[01:17:16] That's it.

[01:17:17] And no, she faked me out.

[01:17:19] She made me think she had to go potty.

[01:17:21] Yeah.

[01:17:21] So that she could get sun on her belly and then roll in the, yep.

[01:17:24] In the grass and kick her legs in the air.

[01:17:26] That kid, he has learned that she loves her backyard.

[01:17:30] That, and I got to say the videos that you posted, that is one hell of a backyard for her to have.

[01:17:35] That is pretty awesome.

[01:17:36] It's giant.

[01:17:37] We have talked about the fact that we would love to be able to have a larger backyard for

[01:17:42] Miley to run around because she loves to run.

[01:17:45] Today though, it was great because it was 75 here today.

[01:17:47] I mean, just absolutely gorgeous weather.

[01:17:49] Yeah.

[01:17:49] Allie or Callie.

[01:17:51] Ari is not doing too good right now.

[01:17:52] She's got a problem with her back or something.

[01:17:54] So she's having some issues.

[01:17:55] We've taken her to the vet.

[01:17:57] But hopefully she'll be fine while we're gone, but she doesn't, the vet doesn't want her on stairs or anything like that.

[01:18:02] She's just very, very wobbly and, and it looks like she's uncomfortable.

[01:18:07] So hopefully she'll be okay, but we got her on some meds.

[01:18:11] See if that helps.

[01:18:12] She might've pulled something because it was 75 today, but a few days ago in the morning we had frost and she on the steps.

[01:18:18] So, you know, it was like 78 here today, but it's been in the high thirties, low forties pretty much every morning.

[01:18:25] I'm still wearing shorts though.

[01:18:27] Yeah.

[01:18:27] I'm going out Lou from fansets on, on life now.

[01:18:30] I'm wearing shorts 24 seven.

[01:18:32] That's kind of, that's something I don't need to think about tonight.

[01:18:36] It's Lou and my beautiful legs.

[01:18:38] No Lou and shorts.

[01:18:40] He's in Disneyland right now.

[01:18:41] I think he's always in Disneyland.

[01:18:43] They go every, they go once a month except for August because I go to Vegas for the,

[01:18:48] convention.

[01:18:50] Wow.

[01:18:51] Oh, and, uh, I mentioned, you know, a couple of months ago that I was going to be going to the creation con in Jersey.

[01:18:56] Yes.

[01:18:56] I have to cancel my trip to Jersey.

[01:19:00] Unfortunately it's work related stuff.

[01:19:02] So I'm really bummed about it.

[01:19:03] Yeah.

[01:19:03] I was going to hang out with the fansets folks all weekend and just enjoy the con and see friends.

[01:19:08] Um, but things are what they are.

[01:19:11] Um, and maybe it just means I, I hit another con at some point somewhere else.

[01:19:15] So speaking of cons, holy crap.

[01:19:18] Trek Long Island is signing some names.

[01:19:22] Elio Rose Gooding going to Trek Long Island next year.

[01:19:25] Yeah.

[01:19:26] Andy Robinson.

[01:19:28] Andy Robinson.

[01:19:29] John Billingsley.

[01:19:30] Our dear, dear friend.

[01:19:31] Some guy named John Billingsley.

[01:19:33] Yeah.

[01:19:34] Okay.

[01:19:35] I got a funny story.

[01:19:36] His wife, his wife, Bonnie Friederisi.

[01:19:38] Yeah.

[01:19:38] Um, whole bunch of other people.

[01:19:39] Um, it's just, it's, it's awesome.

[01:19:42] Phil Morris and his sister, Iona Morris were both in TOS as kids.

[01:19:46] And then.

[01:19:46] Yep.

[01:19:47] Of course was in, uh, star Trek three, the search for Spock and also Voyager episode.

[01:19:52] Yep.

[01:19:52] Um, so, uh, it's going to be a great, great lineup.

[01:19:55] Big names, big names.

[01:19:57] So I told you how, how absolutely wonderful Billingsley was during the time that I was struggling over the summer.

[01:20:05] Yeah.

[01:20:05] Called me one day and just, we had a fantastic conversation.

[01:20:08] So we had a meeting, we had our, our whole team meeting for, um, for Trek talks for the other day.

[01:20:13] And you had a work, uh, um, prior engagement.

[01:20:16] So you weren't able to be there.

[01:20:17] So we're on with everybody and we're, you know, there's like 15 people in the meeting and then the meeting ends.

[01:20:22] And I never got the opportunity to let John know that I had, that I had signed an offer letter and that I got in a job and I wanted to let him know.

[01:20:29] So I texted him.

[01:20:31] And this is, this is what a real true friend is.

[01:20:35] And John is just amazing.

[01:20:36] And I mean this from the bottom of my heart.

[01:20:37] I sent that text and not 10 seconds later, he was calling me.

[01:20:43] Oh, wow.

[01:20:43] I was just so happy that he did that.

[01:20:46] And, and he wanted to congratulate me and, and hear all the details and everything.

[01:20:50] So it just made me feel really good.

[01:20:51] He's such a great guy.

[01:20:52] And I'll tell you what we talk about how, um, how fan sets has been the best thing that's happened with Trek geeks and the creation of the podcast and everything.

[01:21:01] I got to say that our friendship with Billingsley has been the best thing that's come out of Trek talks besides helping people.

[01:21:08] Uh, I'd like to thank Jim McMahon for the correction there.

[01:21:11] Iona Morris also did a Voyager episode.

[01:21:13] I'd forgotten.

[01:21:14] Thank you, Jim.

[01:21:15] That's all right.

[01:21:16] That's right.

[01:21:17] We're old.

[01:21:17] And Brad says, uh, I need to get adopted by Lou to go to Disneyland.

[01:21:21] Don't we all?

[01:21:22] Yeah.

[01:21:22] But then you'd have to see Lou in his, in his shorts all the time.

[01:21:25] Oh, shut up.

[01:21:28] And his incredible shirt.

[01:21:30] Cause he wears his incredible shirt every day at Disney.

[01:21:32] Cause he loves, you know why?

[01:21:33] Cause he is Mr.

[01:21:34] Incredible.

[01:21:35] Cause he is incredible.

[01:21:36] Yep.

[01:21:36] You insufferable jerk.

[01:21:40] Here's some news for you that you are not going to like.

[01:21:43] I do not have a single star Trek shirt pack for this trip.

[01:21:48] First time that has ever happened.

[01:21:49] Why would I not like that?

[01:21:51] I mean, you do you boo.

[01:21:52] I, I just, it's just weird.

[01:21:54] We went through all the stuff that we bring because Sue and I coordinate everything.

[01:21:57] Cause, but yeah, she and Donna are going to coordinate shirts again.

[01:22:02] Uh, they usually do without even trying to, that's the scary.

[01:22:06] I know that's the joke.

[01:22:06] That is the scary thing.

[01:22:08] Yep.

[01:22:08] But I got, uh, I got, um, we got Disney stuff I've got, and you're going to roll your eyes.

[01:22:12] I got a lost shirt.

[01:22:14] Um, but yeah, no, and it's not, it's actually, it's, it's a, it's a deep cut.

[01:22:18] It's an oceanic air airlines logo.

[01:22:20] That's not a deep cut buddy.

[01:22:22] It is for people who watch loss.

[01:22:24] They're not going to know what it is.

[01:22:28] They're not going to know what, what is and isn't a deep cut.

[01:22:31] I mean, you talk about deep cuts with like, you know, fan base.

[01:22:33] Yeah, that's true.

[01:22:34] Yeah.

[01:22:35] You know, uh, it's, it's just a shame you have that shitty show tattooed on your body.

[01:22:39] Um, I'm in the middle of a rewatch right now.

[01:22:41] Actually, I'm really sorry about that.

[01:22:43] Yeah.

[01:22:44] Season three.

[01:22:44] So good.

[01:22:45] No, it's not.

[01:22:46] It's so good.

[01:22:47] Shut your face.

[01:22:48] It's the firefly of, of non.

[01:22:50] Oh my God.

[01:22:51] You are blasphemer.

[01:22:52] No, I'm not.

[01:22:54] No, I'm not.

[01:22:55] 20 sucks.

[01:22:56] And so do you.

[01:22:57] In all seriousness, 20th anniversary of it is this year, which is amazing.

[01:23:02] It's old.

[01:23:04] And, uh, there is still.

[01:23:05] Yes, there is.

[01:23:06] There is.

[01:23:07] Yes, Ross, you're absolutely right.

[01:23:09] Um, and there's a documentary coming out that I can't wait to watch called getting.

[01:23:13] Oh, great.

[01:23:17] That is every.

[01:23:19] Every.

[01:23:20] It's so convoluted.

[01:23:21] It's impossible to know what a deep cut is on that show.

[01:23:23] The beach is a deep cut.

[01:23:25] Oh, no.

[01:23:27] Nikki and Paolo are a deep cut.

[01:23:29] That is, that is.

[01:23:31] And you know what?

[01:23:31] That's the next episode is Nikki and Paolo.

[01:23:33] Yep.

[01:23:34] Absolutely.

[01:23:34] That's the best episode of that entire season.

[01:23:36] It is so good.

[01:23:37] Cause you do not expect it.

[01:23:38] The rest of it sucks as much as you do.

[01:23:39] You are not even right.

[01:23:40] I'm sorry.

[01:23:41] We can agree to disagree.

[01:23:44] No, we can't.

[01:23:46] I'm not agreeing to anything with you.

[01:23:50] Wow.

[01:23:51] See what I have to put up with people.

[01:23:53] Yeah.

[01:23:53] See, this is what it goes back to.

[01:23:56] Never mind the fact.

[01:23:57] This is my show.

[01:23:58] I can get upset about it.

[01:24:00] It's your show.

[01:24:01] Well, it's not my, I don't own it, but it's.

[01:24:03] Remember the album cover I did back in our first year?

[01:24:06] Where's Trek geek starring Dan Davidson with some guy he knows?

[01:24:09] Yes.

[01:24:10] Yeah.

[01:24:11] Yeah.

[01:24:11] Well, let me have to put that.

[01:24:12] It was the, it was the Disney.

[01:24:14] The one I took to Disney at MGM at the time was called MGM.

[01:24:17] Yeah.

[01:24:17] We may have to put that in the show notes this week.

[01:24:21] Oh no.

[01:24:22] I'll post it to social media as a flashback.

[01:24:24] Okay.

[01:24:24] I like that idea.

[01:24:26] Yeah.

[01:24:26] Okay.

[01:24:27] Yeah.

[01:24:27] Well, we've probably bored our poor patrons long enough.

[01:24:31] It's been a fun evening though.

[01:24:32] I got to say.

[01:24:33] It has.

[01:24:34] Glad we were able to talk before I had on my trip.

[01:24:38] It's, you know, with everything going on, I haven't, I was not in a position to really

[01:24:41] want to do much discussion.

[01:24:44] Um, I don't even know how many episodes we did over the three months was two.

[01:24:47] I don't even remember.

[01:24:47] Um, but I tell you what I, um, when we had to, when we postponed last week, I was like,

[01:24:52] oh, but I was really looking forward to tonight, getting back in the saddle, talking about stuff.

[01:24:57] It's good to have a weight off my shoulders and, and, uh, see your face.

[01:25:04] Well, you know, Dan, one of my favorite pieces of advice is it really doesn't matter how you fall.

[01:25:11] What matters most is how you rise.

[01:25:13] Hmm.

[01:25:14] And we are rising.

[01:25:16] And right after you come back, we're doing another damn episode.

[01:25:20] So yeah, we are.

[01:25:21] Yep.

[01:25:21] Get your mind right.

[01:25:22] And, uh, have a Mickey bar and a doll whip.

[01:25:25] Yeah.

[01:25:26] And, um, and, uh, have a hell of a time.

[01:25:29] I, I am jealous of you.

[01:25:30] Thanks, man.

[01:25:30] I told Kelly, we're going, uh, probably in the spring because it's been five years since he went without me.

[01:25:37] Yeah.

[01:25:37] And I still haven't been to star Wars land.

[01:25:39] It's going to be interesting because we go with Donna and Chris every trip, but Don and Melinda are joining us this time.

[01:25:46] And they have not been to any of the parks in like 10 or 12 or 15 years.

[01:25:53] So none of the new rides they have been on.

[01:25:57] And I can't wait to get them on guardians of the galaxy, which may be the best ride ever made at any Disney park ever.

[01:26:03] Um, that's going to be the old tower of terror.

[01:26:05] No, no, that's the guardian.

[01:26:07] The tower of terror is now a guardians themed ride in Disneyland.

[01:26:11] Oh, okay.

[01:26:12] Tower of terror is still tower terror in Florida, but guardians of the galaxy is a new ride that, um, they ripped down the, um, Ellen's adventure ride at Epcot.

[01:26:21] Oh yeah.

[01:26:22] Yeah.

[01:26:22] A roller coaster ish indoor guardians ride.

[01:26:25] It is, it is, but it is phenomenal.

[01:26:30] And I cannot say enough about it.

[01:26:32] Whatever ride you love at Disney guardians is 50 times better.

[01:26:35] It is incredible.

[01:26:37] Yeah.

[01:26:38] Does it have Chris Pratt in it?

[01:26:39] It does.

[01:26:40] But what's great is they play music and on September 21st of this year, all day, every track that was played during the ride was September.

[01:26:51] But with wind and fire.

[01:26:52] Nice.

[01:26:52] Yeah.

[01:26:53] Yeah.

[01:26:54] They play disco Inferno, which is the one I love.

[01:26:56] By the tramps.

[01:26:57] Yeah.

[01:26:58] Um, oh yeah.

[01:26:59] It's, it's fantastic.

[01:27:00] And I cannot describe with enough detail of how great a ride it is.

[01:27:05] It's, it's fantastic.

[01:27:06] And every, even the queue lines are great.

[01:27:08] So, well then let's leave it there and, uh, and bid everyone a good night.

[01:27:13] Everybody.

[01:27:13] Thank you for hanging out with us.

[01:27:14] And, uh, we will do this again next time until then live long and prosper y'all.

[01:27:19] LAP baby.

[01:27:20] Take care.

[01:27:29] Coconut.

[01:27:29] Do you have a drink of that?

[01:27:30] BAB!

[01:27:31] miejscanadETofc
