Science Station 2 will look at science, psychology, sociology, humanity, and technology as it relates to the very human elements at the core of Star Trek!
[00:00:02] Welcome listeners to Science Station 2, where the corridors are filled with blue shirts and
[00:00:38] discussions of the hard and soft sciences can be heard from every corner.
[00:00:43] This podcast will bring discussions from me, your host, and guests, covering topics
[00:00:48] ranging from astronomy, geology, physics, astrophysics, sociology, psychology, and technology in regards
[00:00:58] to what we see of these areas of science in all the iterations of Star Trek.
[00:01:04] How will we get to that Star Trek future and is it possible?
[00:01:08] What advancements do we need to make to reach this future?
[00:01:12] How accurate is what we see in Star Trek to what we already have and know?
[00:01:17] These are just some of the questions that will be covered in episodes of Science Station 2.
[00:01:23] I'm excited to share this passion I have for the sciences with you listeners and to do
[00:01:28] so through the lens of Star Trek.
[00:01:30] I have a BS in psychology, have spent the last 5 and a half years working as a social
[00:01:36] worker, always enjoyed science class, and have had a lifelong passion for space, the
[00:01:42] universe, and beyond.
[00:01:44] I grew up on the next generation and toyed with the notion of being a teenager aboard
[00:01:49] the USS Enterprise.
[00:01:51] Yes, just like Wesley Crusher.
[00:01:54] However, I never gave much thought to the possibilities of our world getting to that
[00:01:59] idea Star Trek shows us.
[00:02:01] But as I've gotten older and rediscovered my appreciation for Star Trek and the deeper
[00:02:07] ideas presented in it, that I began to wonder if we could or would want to
[00:02:12] get to that future and how we would make that happen.
[00:02:17] This podcast is my way of exploring this and I hope that you will enjoy the discussions
[00:02:22] and topics as much as I do, that perhaps it will make you think more as you watch an
[00:02:28] episode about how we can make it a reality.
[00:02:31] Maybe how YOU can make it a reality.
[00:02:34] If you want to further the discussion or have questions you can reach out to me
[00:02:39] at ScienceStation2Pod at gmail.com or on Twitter at Science2Pod.
[00:02:45] This is Hailey, signing off from the Astrophysics Lab.
[00:02:49] Thank you for briefly stepping aboard ScienceStation 2.
[00:02:53] I hope to see you in the corridors again.
