We here at TrekGeeks are big fans of the Internet-based “Star Trek Continues” series!
Their premiere episode, “Pilgrim of Eternity,” was an outstanding production and one which we called, “comfort food for Trekkies” and what we felt could have been the “80th episode of Star Trek.” The writing, the sets, the lighting, the music cues–all of it evoked the original spirit and feel of the series we love so dearly.
Well, now STC is raising funds for it’s second episode via Kickstarter–and they’re hoping that the overwhelmingly positive fan reaction to the first episode will translate to support in their campaign.
The Kickstarter asks for $100,000 to cover expenses related to the production such as equipment rentals, set pieces, insurance, building lease, and more. Unlike many Kickstarter’s, the Star Trek Continues team developed and funded the first episode entirely on its own in order to provide a glimpse of exactly what they were capable of with regard to the online series.
If you haven’t seen their first episode, “Pilgrim of Eternity,” you really owe it to yourself to watch it.
I’m very excited to see this project progress and I have made a modest donation to their KIRKstarter to help get the second episode produced. Every little bit helps!
Best of luck to the STC team! We’ll keep you posted as the project progresses!
