Episode 100: A Journey to Future’s Past, Part 1

BEAMING ABOARD STAR TREK CONTINUES!

Well, here we are.  Who would have thought two and a half years ago when we started this incredible journey that we would be bringing you Episode 100 of the Trek Geeks Podcast.  We could not be more thankful to each and every one of our listeners for making this happen.  We are so grateful to all of you.  For this wonderful occasion we felt we wanted to do something special and unique.  It isn’t everyday you celebrate Episode 100, so we wanted it to be something that is very near and dear to our hearts.

In November of 2015, we had the trip of a lifetime.  Vic Mignogna, creator, executive producer and star of Star Trek Continues, invited us to Stage 9 while the cast and crew were filming Episodes 6 and 7. We were able to witness first hand what it was like to see an episode of Star Trek being made and we were able to walk the corridors of the U.S.S. Enterprise.  We met so many wonderful people, we became friends with all of them, and most importantly we became family.  It was an experience like none other so we wanted to share that experience with you.

We hope you enjoy our audio documentary of our experience on the set of Star Trek Continues in our super-sized Episode 100: A Journey to Future’s Past, Part 1.

Episode 99: Still Treads the Shadow

SPOILER ALERT!

It has been too long since the cast and crew of Star Trek Continues released Episode 7, so we have been waiting as patiently as possible for the latest adventure from our friends at STC.

As Nero would say, “The wait is over!” and we are thrilled that Episode 8 of this highly acclaimed fan production is now available.  Released to fans over the weekend of April  1st, “Still Treads the Shadow” continues the story first told in the TOS episode “The Tholian Web.”

While investigating an event horizon in an uninhabited system, the crew of the Enterprise are shocked to come across the U.S.S Defiant, thought to be lost in interspace over a year ago!  The surprises don’t stop there when it is revealed that the Defiant has a single passenger on board, and the condition and identity of that someone is what the crew least expected!  We think you will agree that STC has once again given us an amazing episode filled with drama and awesome guest stars!

Plus, as a special bonus we are joined by The Captain himself, Vic Mignogna (in a record 4th appearance on Trek Geeks), to discuss this amazing story and the INCREDIBLE performance he gives in this episode.

It’s all in Episode 99 of “Your Independent Star Trek Podcast” and we hope you’ll join us!

Episode 51: Vic Mignogna

A RETURN VISIT FROM THE CAPTAIN!

Vic Mignogna Returns! This week, Bill and Dan are joined by their good friend, Vic Mignogna from Star Trek Continues!

Vic comes by to talk about the latest crowdfunding campaign for his award-winning series, “To Boldly Indiegogo!” Over the next two months, STC hopes to raise $350,000 which will help them finish their seventh episode, as well as provide funding for three more installments!

In addition, we’ll talk about the state of fan films in the wake of litigation taken by CBS and how that may affect the crowdfunding landscape.  We’ll also chat about “The White Iris,” the perks for the current crowdfunding campaign, and we’ll have a couple of questions from our Camp Khitomer group on Facebook! He’ll even have an exclusive tidbit for our Trek Geeks listeners regarding their upcoming sixth episode, “Come Not Between the Dragons!”

Plus, we’ll cover some Star Trek news including:

PARENTAL ADVISORY: This week’s episode has some serious conversation around how Star Trek has actually helped prevent suicide. Some of the discussion may be intense for younger listeners.

BOLDLY INDIEGOGO!

Find out more about the Star Trek Continues “To Boldly Indiegogo” crowd funding campaign now: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/star-trek-continues

Their goal is to raise $350,000. With that money, they will:

  • Complete post-production on Episode 7
  • Produce three more episodes!
  • Cover rent and utility costs at “Stage 9” over the next 18 months (which have increased substantially due to our set expansion and the sole acquisition of “Stage 9” by Trek Continues Inc.)

They also have an additional stretch goal of $450,000 which would enable them to produce an additional episode as well as cover studio expenses long enough to do so.

Dan and Bill have seen first-hand the kind of care and detail that goes into making an episode of Star Trek Continues. There is no extravagance and the producers have never taken a salary from the production.  Most importantly, this show is fueled by love of Star Trek and the generosity of donors.

Five episodes of Star Trek Continues have been released and another two have been filmed. Here’s hoping that we can help them produce even more amazing episodes! We will “Boldly Indiegogo” and we hope you will, too!
