The Next Generation

Episode 123: All Good Things…

TNG’s SERIES FINALE

This week, we wrap up our year-long retrospective of Star Trek: The Next Generation with a look at the series finale, “All Good Things…”

Airing in 1994, it was the first true finale for a Star Trek series getting a chance to do something that TOS never did. Some have called it the best finale of all the Treks, and others the best finale of all time!

Bill and Dan will look at the episode and what makes it so great and see if it still holds up when compared to the other series finales.

Episode 120: Encounter at Farpoint

GREAT JOY AND GRATITUDE!

This week, we travel back to 1987 and the episode that ushered in a brand new era for Star Trek fans!

“Encounter at Farpoint” was the first brand new Star Trek on television in almost twenty years and, we didn’t know it at the time, but it was the beginning of 25 straight seasons of television across four different shows.

We’ll look at this first episode of TNG as part of our TNG30 celebration. We’ll tell you what we enjoy about this episode, as well as what we might have done differently.

Let’s see what’s out there in this 120th episode of Your Independent Star Trek Podcast!

A RETURNING FAVORITE!

Our See-It or Skip-It episodes are always fun, and this one is no exception!

This time, we’ll take a good, long look at the 5th season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. With episodes like “Darmok,” “Unification I & II,” and “The Inner Light,” there is plenty to talk about in TNG’s fifth season!

Joining us for the fun will be “The Godfather of the Trek Geeks Podcast,” Bill’s long time friend, Dan Kregor of the Inside Podcast Network!

(You have Dan to blame for introducing Bill to podcasting in the first place.)

He’ll attempt to referee the chaos that is See-It or Skip-It, but that’s always a monumental task when Bill and Dan are involved.

We’ll have that, plus lots of news in this week’s installment of Your Independent Star Trek Podcast!

Episode 107: Yesterday’s Enterprise

IT HAS BEEN A LONG WAR – OR HAS IT?

Let’s make sure history never forgets the name…Enterprise!” – Jean-Luc Picard

Military Log – Podcast Date 7/4/17.  It is considered to be one of the finest hours in Star Trek history.  Almost every list of favorite episodes includes this one.  It brings back a familiar face with the return of Tasha Yar and offers up an interesting moral dilemma!  It is Yesterday’s Enterprise and the Trek Geeks finally have the discussion they have hinted at for quite a while!

It is no secret that Bill is not a huge fan of this episode and today you will finally get all the details of why.  While Dan admits he thinks it is a spectacular stand alone hour of Star Trek, he too has reservations about the ramifications of this episode in future seasons.  It is an interesting discussion that may have you re-thinking how you feel about good ole NCC-1701-C!

Plus, there are tons of new details about Star Trek Discovery including a “set in stone” premier date, an old friend will be directing an upcoming episode and we finally get a Discovery panel at an upcoming convention!

Finally, the Cosplay for Good fundraiser to help the Nevada SPCA is in full swing!  The Trek Geeks are raising money to help the largest no kill animal shelter in the Las Vegas area by wearing TNG Season 1 skants at STLV!  With a little over a month to go before the convention, the guys have an update on how things are going so far.

It’s all in Episode 107 of Your Independent Star Trek Podcast! Whatever you do, don’t alter the timeline by not listening!

Episode 106: Star Trek Nemesis

WAS IT THE PROPER SEND-OFF?

Can you learn to see in the dark, Captain?” – Shinzon

It was a dark movie. Literally and figuratively.  It ended up being the last of the Star Trek movies with the TNG cast.  But was it a worthy finale??

This week, the Trek Geeks will give their take on Star Trek: Nemesis.  Their memories of the 2002 film are not as positive as other feature films, and they will jump right into the reasons why this was a less than stellar big screen exit for Picard and his crew.

Prime Directive violations, dark sets, “tired” acting.  This list goes on and on.  But fear not, there are plenty of things that the Geeks liked, and they will get into those too!

Plus, perhaps the biggest announcement ever from our good friends at Star Trek Continues dropped this week!  Also, a familiar face recently got to test out the new Star Trek Bridge Crew virtual reality game.  What did she have to say?

In addition, if you are attending San Diego ComicCon or STLV, you may want to make some room for a new con exclusive Holiday Keepsake ornament!  Finally, QMx is releasing a replica of a classic TOS piece of furniture and we have all the details for you!

It’s all in Episode 106 of Your Independent Star Trek Podcast! We hope you’ll join us as we raise a glass of Chateau Picard!
